"Lucario! Cario! Cario!" Meeko shouted at the mouse who ran up the front porch steps.
"No fair, Ash!" shouted Jordan.
"It is fair, Jordan!" said Ash. "You'll just have to run a little bit faster next time."
"Argh!" grumbled Jordan. "You have longer legs than I do!"
"Pikachu! Lucario!"
"We're home!" Ash called out as he, Jordan and Kukui went inside. "Huh? Hey, Rockruff?"
"Pika?" Pikachu called out.
"Where are you?" Meeko calling out as well.
"Hm? Maybe Rockruff went out." suggested Rotom.
"To use the bathroom, maybe." said Jordan.
"Hold on, you two. Your backpacks." said Professor Kukui, just as Ash sets his down and helps Jordan with hers.
"Yeah, almost forgot!" said Ash as he and Jordan went up to the loft. Pikachu heads towards the small door.
"Pikachu?" asked Pikachu when suddenly, he was knocked back. "Pika! (groans) Pi? Pika?"
"Lucari?" asked Meeko as she and Pikachu watched Rockruff walk in, limping.
"Hey! There you are, Rockruff. Huh?" said Ash, taking a good look at Rockruff.
"What the what?!" shouted Jordan as Rockruff barked and whimpers at them.
"Hey, what happened to you?" Ash asked Rockruff, running over to the Pokémon. "Oh!"
"What did you do to yourself, Rockruff?" asked Jordan, gently picking it up.
"Let me see. Scrapes, claw marks, scratch marks." said Rotom, taking a closer look at Rockruff. "It even has burns!"
"Cario!" said Meeko, scolding Rockruff as she picks it up. "Lucar, Lucar, Lucar!"
"Ruff, Ruff!" said Rockruff, sadly.
"Come on." said Kukui, holding out his hand for Rockruff's paw. "Show me." Rockruff whimpers as it gives Kukui its paw. "It's going to sting a little."
Just as he sprays on the medicine, Rockruff shivers and whimpers as it feels the sting on its burn. "Pika-pika!" Pikachu said to Rockruff, trying to calm it down.
"You think maybe Rockruff was in a fight?" asked Ash.
"If it was, then it must have been a good fight." said Jordan as Kukui takes Rockruff out of her arms.
"I told you. You were supposed to stay in the house while we were gone." Kukui said to Rockruff, who tears up. Rolling up hill and towards the bank, Komala yawns as it knocks itself into the water, creating a huge splash.
"That's what happened." said Ash as he and Jordan finished explained to the others about Rockruff.
"But if it is an ongoing problem, then why doesn't Professor Kukui makes sure Rockruff stay inside its Pokeball?" Lillie asked.
"Yeah, about that….." said Jordan.
"See, Rockruff isn't really the professor's Pokémon." said Ash.
"Huh?"
"It isn't?" asked Mallow.
"That's what he said. One day Rockruff just followed him back home after he gave it some Pokémon food." he tells her.
"So, Rockruff is wild?" asked Mallow.
"Yep." said Jordan.
"I assumed it was his Pokémon all along." said Lana.
"Me too. Rockruff is completely attached to Professor Kukui." said Kiawe.
"You see, Rockruff have quite a reputation for being genuine people friendly Pokémon." said Rotom.
"Like my Growlithe back home, Phoenix." said Jordan.
"Exactly." said Rotom, then brings up Rockruff's data. "Rockruff, the puppy Pokémon. A rock type, Rockruff have lived with humans since ancient times. They train themselves by running around."
"So training may be why it got hurt!" suggested Lana.
"Training did that?" asked Ash.
"I'll bet I know what's going on." said Sophocles. "Yeah, maybe Rockruff's getting close to evolving."
"Evolving?" Ash asked again.
"Into what?" asked Jordan.
"Rockruff evolves into Lycanroc which has two different forms based on when it evolves." said Rotom, bringing up one of the Lycanroc forms. "It evolves into Midday Form Lycanroc during the day and Midnight form Lycanroc during the night."
"I personally like the Midnight form." said Jordan, pointing to the second Lycanroc. "Looks very mysterious."
"Lucario." Meeko said in agreement.
"Wow. What it looks like depends on when it evolves." said Ash.
"Furthermore…" said Rotom as Popplio makes a bubble not far from them. "When it gets close to evolving, Rockruff's temperament becomes more aggressive, and it tends to act more independent. It's common for it to disappear, and then return after its evolved." Ash screamed as Popplio's balloon pops over Pikachu, Togedemaru and Bounsweet.
Waves washed ashore, leaving a Shellder behind on the sand. "Shellder. Shell!" said Shellder, sneezing its way back into the ocean. Back at Kukui's house, Ash and Jordan arrived home. "We're home!" the siblings called out, causing Rockruff to run up to them.
"Awesome! You were good and stayed here today!" said Ash as Pikachu and Meeko played with Rockruff.
"Don't forget, rubbing against you is the way Rockruff show affection." said Kukui, appearing from behind the plant as Rockruff rubs its rocks against Jordan and Ash. "The more they like you, the harder they rub, so a trainer must Bide their time."
"Good pun." said Jordan, giggling. "I like it."
"What do you know? You're home already." said Ash.
"I was worried about Rockruff." said Kukui, then turns on the tv. "Look at this, Ash, Jordan."
"Huh!"
"Cool!" said Jordan as they see video footage of Rockruff inside the house.
"Rock! Ruff!" barked Rockruff.
"Lucar." said Meeko.
"Pika-pika!" said Pikachu.
"I installed cameras everywhere." Kukui said to Ash and Jordan as they watched Rockruff sleep in a chair for a moment and jumps onto a toy.
"I'd like these video files for further data." said Rotom.
"Wonder if it always waits for us to get home like this." said Ash and Jordan takes a closer look at the tv screen.
"Pikachu." said Pikachu.
"Lucario." said Meeko.
"But now for the interesting part." said Kukui, seeing Rockruff stop playing with the ball it had and over to the window for a second. Rockruff then heads out the back down and out of sight.
"Huh?"
"Pika? Cari?"
"And this is a few hours later," said the professor, fast forwarding the video. "half an hour before I got home."
They all watched to see Rockruff walk in through the back door, with the same marks and bruises as before, collapsing in the middle of the floor. "It's just like before!" exclaimed Ash, then looks down at Rockruff. "Where did you go? What were you up to?"
"Are you getting beat up when you go out the back?" asked Jordan as Rockruff rubs against her brother. Out on the beach, a few Magikarp washed ashore before heading back out to sea. "See you later, Rockruff." said Ash.
"Don't get into things." said Jordan.
"Watch the house, okay?" asked Kukui as he sets a toy down on the floor.
"Professor, what's that?" asked Ash.
"It's Rockruff's playmate." he explained, then sees Meeko's eyes widen at the toy and catches her before she jumps onto the toy. "Sorry, Meeko. It's for Rockruff tonight."
"No fair." grumbled Meeko, with an angry look on her face, wishing that she would play with it as well.
"You can play with it tomorrow, I promise." said Jordan.
"Pika-Pika!" Pikachu called out as they left the house.
"Lucario!" said Meeko.
"Let's hit it." said Ash as Rockruff barks after them, jumping onto the window sill. Inside, cameras were rolling as the small Alolan family watched from outside. "Wow. Rockruff's so gentle." said Ash as they watched Rockruff walk up and circle the toy. Just then, Rockruff starts growling and barking, like the toy was the enemy before taking a bite and attempts to try to tear it apart.
"What's going on?" asked Ash and Jordan.
"I'm not quite sure." said Kukui, surprised at Rockruff's behavior. "It's a new one on me. I left that toy before, but it's never acted like this."
"Pika!" said Pikachu.
"Lucar." said Meeko. Suddenly, the rocks around Rockruff's neck starts to glow. "Huh?"
"Huh? Its glowing." said Ash. On camera, Rockruff's demeanor changed as it went out the door and into the forest. "Hm. We should follow it." Kukui whispered to the siblings.
"After that Rockruff." said Jordan, pointing to the puppy.
"Cario!" said Meeko as they all went after Rockruff. Rockruff softly growls as it went further into the forest. "Wait a sec!" said Kukui as they hid behind a log. "Just up ahead…."
In the sky, the moon shines brightly as both Midday and Midnight forms of Lycanroc howled. Out of the shadows, Pokémon from all around ran towards the Lycanroc. Far from them, Kukui, Ash and Jordan were watching. "Pika? Cario?" asked Pikachu and Meeko.
"They're Lycanroc!" said Ash.
"It's a midday form and a midnight form Lycanroc to boot." said Rotom. "This is a very curious situation indeed."
"I knew it. We're looking at Clawmark Hill!" said Kukui.
"Clawmark Hill?" asked Ash.
"Did it get its name from having a lot of Clawmarks from battles or because it looks like a Clawmark?" asked Jordan.
"From looking like a Clawmark." replied Kukui.
"Awesome." said Jordan.
"Lucario." said Meeko. Out on the hill, both Midday and Midnight forms of Lycanroc faced each other, growling as Rockruff and the other Pokémon gathered around in a circle.
Midday form Lycanroc sends out some rocks from its body towards its Midnight form counterpart, who blocked its attack. Midday form then tries another attack at Midnight form Lycanroc. "A Rock Throw and an Accelerock?" questioned Kukui. "This is incredible."
The Pokémon who gathered around chanted and cheered as Midnight form Lycanroc grunts from the attack. Both forms of Lycanroc went at it. "Whoa!" said Jordan.
"Counter!" said Ash.
"The Midnight form's preferred battling style is to take its opponent's attacks and then lands a decisive blow!" said Kukui as Rockruff cheered for both its forms.
"This is no time to be amazed. I must record this!" said Rotom, bleeping as he does it.
"Rotom, shush!" said Jordan, glaring at the floating Pokedex. Both forms of Lycanroc growled again and the Pokémon began training.
"Pika."
"Lucar."
"Oh. Where's Rockruff?" asked Ash, standing up.
"Over there!" said Kukui, spotting it.
"It's all making sense to me now!" said Ash.
"It does?" asked Jordan.
"Cario?" asked Meeko.
"With him, it usually goes in one ear and out the other." said Jordan.
"Wait!" Kukui said to Ash, stopping him from going to Rockruff.
"Huh?"
"We know why Rockruff got hurt." Kukui explained. "But what matters is what Rockruff wants. So let's watch things a little bit longer and see what happens."
"Yeah, let's see." said Ash. "Oh, look at those two."
As a Sudowoodo and Mankey were thrown back towards the rock, a Magmar overpowered another Pokémon. Rockruff was far from the fire type Pokémon when it barks at it, gaining Magmar's attention. Magmar growls as Rockruff continued to bark and attacked.
"Magmar!" bellowed Magmar, using fire punch on Rockruff.
"Rock!" cried Rockruff, getting knocked back.
"Professor!" said Ash as Jordan gives him a pleading face.
"Not just yet. Patience." he tells them.
"But…" said Ash as Magmar continued its punches on Rockruff, who then bites the Spitfire Pokémon's arm in retaliation. Magmar releases Flamethrower on Rockruff when suddenly, the rocks on its neck begin to glow.
"Oh, what's that?" asked Ash.
"What's going on with Rockruff's neck?" asked a worried Jordan.
"It means Rockruff's about to use a move." said Kukui. Rockruff growled as its neck continued to glow. "Magmar!" shouted Magmar as it sends another flamethrower at Rockruff, knocking the rock type puppy back.
"Rockruff got hit." said Ash.
"Pika!" said Pikachu.
"Rockruff!" said Jordan.
"Lucario!" said Meeko.
"You can see the difference in their strengths." said Kukui as they watched Rockruff take a bite of Magmar's tail.
"Pika! Pika!" Pikachu shouted out to Rockruff.
"Lucario! Cario!" Meeko yelled out.
Soon enough, Magmar gets Rockruff off its tail, slamming it to the ground. As the dust settles, Rockruff was still standing before finally falling to the ground. "Magmar! Magmar!" Magmar said, with its arms raised and boasting about its power.
"Pangoro!" shouted Pangoro as it stopped in front of Magmar.
"Professor, what's going on?" asked Ash and Jordan.
"Well, they're not fighting." said Kukui. "They're actually training. Magmar isn't defeating all the other Pokémon simply for show. This is a place where humans mustn't get in the way. It's very much like a Pokémon dojo."
"So Rockruff has been working on moves here." said Rotom. "It makes me want to gather data all the more!"
"Pangoro." said Pangoro, after a round of feeling Magmar's flame. Later on, Rockruff was walking back to Kukui's house and looks up to see Kukui and the Ketchum siblings. "Ruff!" barked Rockruff, seeing them.
"Rockruff!" said Ash and Jordan.
"Pika! Pikachu!" said Pikachu.
"Lucario!" said Meeko.
"Rockruff, how you doing?" Ash asked.
"Pika!" said Pikachu.
"You're amazing. You were so cool, taking on all those strong Pokémon!" Ash said to Rockruff, then takes a look at its neck. "Rockruff, wasn't this glowing a while ago? The professor said you were getting ready to use a move."
Rockruff was puzzled at this as it tilts its head at the oldest sibling. "Hey, would you like to do some training, you and me, together? To learn a new move?"
"Rockruff!" barked Rockruff.
"Pika-Pikachu!" said Pikachu.
"Pikachu, Jordan and Meeko will help too." said Ash.
"Sure." said Jordan, leaning into her brother's shoulders.
"Lucar!" said Meeko.
"But Ash, why would you and Jordan go through all that trouble?" asked Rotom, causing both brother and sister to look at each other.
"I'm not sure if I'd call it trouble. I just want to help Rockruff!" said Ash. "That's reason enough."
"Reason enough?" Rotom asked, looking from one sibling to the next. "Wait. I think I understand your offer.
"You're going to eat your words on that, Rotom." said Jordan. "The way Ash trains with his Pokémon is weird. Weird but very effective."
"I'll see it when I believe it." Rotom tells her.
"If you say so, Rotom." said Jordan.
"So, what do you say?" Ash asked Rockruff, ignoring Rotom and Jordan's banter. "You'll learn an awesome move and then beat that Magmar!" Rockruff barked as it jumps into Ash's arms and rubbing against his neck as well, causing the boy to laugh. "Oh my god, Principal Oak has rubbed off a little on my brother." said Jordan.
"Pika? Cario?" asked Pikachu and Meeko. The next day, Rowlet falls over sleeping as Kukui, Ash and Jordan were standing aways. "If I had to guess, I'd say Rockruff is attempting to learn Rock Throw." said Kukui.
"Rock Throw? You think?" asked Ash.
"Yeah."
"Cool." said Jordan.
"You could use some rocks thrown at your head, Ash. In order to hopefully loosen some other ideas that are floating around in your head." said Jordan, only to get water in the face by her water gun. "Hey! What was that for?"
"Not today, Jordan." sighed Ash. Jordan then turns to Kukui and Rotom.
"This is my life….all 8 years of it." said Jordan.
"Rock Throw's one of the most basic Rock type Pokémon moves." Kukui tells them. "It's a move that shoots rocks at its opponents."
"And it's especially effective against Magmar, a Fire Type." said Rotom.
"Got it." said Ash, then turns around. "Okay, Rockruff! Concentrate your power right here and then you do this!" Ash shows Rockruff his training idea, causing Pikachu to join in on the training. "Pikachu!" said Pikachu, following Ash's lead. Soon enough, Pikachu started to form Electro Ball at his tail.
"Pika!" said Pikachu, releasing Electro Ball into the air.
"Now, wasn't that awesome?" Ash asked Rockruff. "And you can do it too. Think back. You were determined not to lose. Then, this started to glow."
"Rock. Ruff." said Rockruff.
"Whenever we're in a battle, and we get a little down, then it's time to pump ourselves back up!" exclaimed Ash. "We scream loud! Then we turn up our power to ten! Right, Pikachu? Jordan? Meeko?"
"Pikachu!" shouted Pikachu.
"Yep. Cario!" said Jordan and Meeko.
"I'm not certain that explanation was understandable enough." said Rotom.
"Ruff. Rockruff." said Rockruff.
"You know what I mean, right?" asked Ash.
"Yes….yes we do." said Jordan, giving Ash a reason to glare at her.
"All you got to do is hit it hard and real loud!" Ash tells Rockruff. "Pikachu, get in on this."
"Pika-pika! Pika!" said Pikachu.
"Rockruff." replied Rockruff as both Pokémon shake their tails.
"Part one of our training is to power up so you can really rock that new power." said Ash.
"Pikachu!"
"Let's run!"
"I told you, Rotom." said Jordan, looking at the Pokedex. "The way Ash trains his Pokémon is weird, but very effective."
"It works every time." said Meeko.
"I believe you now." said Rotom as Jordan and Meeko run after her brother.
"Rowlet, you're going to get left behind, you know." Ash called out over his shoulder and a sleeping Rowlet finally wakes up, flying after them to join the training.
"Is this strategy going to work?" Rotom asked.
"It's not the norm, but still, I do like Ash's style." said Kukui. "And who knows, we might even see a piece of Jordan's training style too."
"Hm, but I can't see to find any logical basis for success." said Rotom.
"It'll be fine." replied Kukui, walking along the shore line. "It's all about spirit. Did you see Ash's eyes, Rotom?"
"Ash's eyes?" Rotom asked.
"He was using his eyes to communicate through Rockruff's eyes." Kukui explained. "Not by using words, but by using his heart and with Jordan as his support system."
"Pik. Pik. Pik." said Pikachu as he moves side to side on the sand.
"Watch Pikachu's movements closely." said Ash as Rockruff joins Pikachu. "One, two, one, two, one, two, one, two…..one, two, one, two…."
"Using his heart? Indecipherable." said Rotom.
"Does that make any sense to you?" asked Jordan, watching her brother and his Pokémon nod their heads in sync.
"Cario." said Meeko, shaking her head.
"Thought so." she said. Under a tree and in the shade, Ash, Pikachu and Rockruff were peacefully snoozing away. "Turtonator, Flamethrower, let's go!" shouted Kiawe as Jordan tried her best with Rockruff.
"Turtonator!" bellowed Turtonator, shooting flames from its nose towards Pikachu, who dodges the attack.
"Pika! Pi!"
"Wow, nice dodge." said Kiawe.
"Did you see that?" Ash asked Rockruff. "That's how you dodge it. All you gotta do with Flamethrower is dodge."
"Guess that's one way, but still…" said Kiawe.
"I would ask to try again, but knowing Ash…." said Jordan.
"That's true." Kiawe replied.
"Exactly. Besides, I don't wanna push it." she tells him.
"All right, Kiawe, one more time." Ash called out.
"Rockruff." barked Rockruff.
"Flamethrower again!" shouted Kiawe.
"Turtonator!" shouted Turtonator, sending another Flamethrower. Just as Rockruff dodges the attack, its tail caught the brunt of the Flamethrower and whines in pain as it heads for the water to put it out.
"Poor Rockruff." said Jordan as Rockruff whimpers in the water. Inside the house, Rockruff, Ash, Pikachu, Jordan and Meeko were stretched out on the floor, asleep while not far from them, sitting was Kukui, smiling at them.
Just before he could look away, he then sees the look on Jordan's face change from being peaceful to agitated. In her sleep, Meeko senses something was wrong with her as Jordan starts to toss and turn in her sleep, causing her to wake up. Hugging her trainer, Meeko looks over at the Alolan Professor.
"Jordan has nightmares." Meeko telepathically said to Kukui, who was curious about Jordan's nightmare. "Like this one, sometimes she gets really bad nightmares."
"No, Ash!" groaned Jordan, reaching out for her brother.
"It's why she sings and dances, hoping that it will help keep them away." Meeko added, then wraps her paws around her as she uses places her forehead on Jordan's while she goes back to sleep. Jordan sighs and pulls Meeko towards, smiling as she feels her aura.
"Well, I'll be." Kukui said quietly. Once back outside, Ash and Rockruff were shaking their butts while Jordan covers her eyes. "Now, shake it with more energy." Ash suggested to Rockruff. "It's like wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, yeah!"
"Cario! Lucario!" shouted Meeko, covering her eyes in embarrassment as well.
"You took the words right out of my mouth." said Jordan, peering through her fingers. "I can't believe that I'm related to you, Ash."
"All right, Rockruff, I want you to come at me and Jordan." said Ash, five minutes later.
"What?!" shrieked Jordan as Ash pulls her and Meeko in front of him. "I don't remember agreeing to this part of training."
"Neither do I!" screamed Meeko.
"Rock. Ruff. Rock. Ruff. Rock. Ruff. Rock. Ruff." barked Rockruff as it follows Ash's advice.
"Faster, faster!" said Ash as Jordan winces. The rocks on Rockruff's neck starts to glow as it goes faster. "Huh?" said their classmates, watching the scene unfold.
"Okay, now!" shouted Ash. Rockruff barks and howls as rocks appeared around its tail, before sending them towards Ash and Jordan. Ash gets hit as he dodges side to side while Jordan ducks to the ground. "Yeah! You're doing great, Rockruff!" Ash praised it.
"Are you sure that's a good thing?" Kiawe asked.
"Making yourself a target, let alone you sister is weird." said Sophocles.
"That's too reckless for me." said Mallow.
"Yeah. Doesn't that hurt?" asked Lillie.
"It had to. How could it not?" asked Lana.
"Asher Ketchum!" screamed Jordan, causing said boy to look down at his sister.
"Uh-oh." said Ash, seeing the anger in her eyes. "Full name."
"You are in so much trouble!" shouted Jordan, pointing to her brother and starts chasing him across the sand. "Just you wait until I tell mom!"
"Lucar! Lucario!" shouted Meeko, chasing him as well with a familiar mallet in her hands.
"You know…." said Sophocles. "remind me to never get on Jordan's and Meeko's bad side or make them this angry."
"Yeah. You said it." said the others, nodding in agreement.
"Pik! Pikachu!" shouted Pikachu once he and Rockruff butt heads.
"Great, Rockruff! One more time!" shouted Ash. Rockruff starts another round of Rock Throw, aiming it at Pikachu. "Pika!" said Pikachu as Rock Throw went around him, causing the sand to go up.
"All right!" shouted Ash.
"Pika! Pika!" shouted Pikachu, running over to Rockruff. "Pika! Pika! Pika!"
"Cario!" shouted Meeko, running over and nuzzling Rockruff's head.
"You did it, Rockruff!" said Ash as Rockruff jumps into his arms, rubbing its rocks against Ash.
"Great job!" said Jordan, getting Rockruff off of Ash.
"You just learned Rock Throw! Now you can battle with everything you've got!" said Ash.
"Ruff! Ruff!" said Rockruff.
"Pikachu! Lucario!" beamed Pikachu and Meeko. The sun was setting outside of Professor Kukui's house. "Everyone. Have a look at this." said Rotom, showing them pictures taken at Clawmark Hill.
"Lycanroc?" asked Kukui.
"Now look at Rockruff's eyes." said Rotom, comparing Rockruff to Lycanroc.
"Pika? Pika?" asked Pikachu.
"Are you comparing Rockruff to both Lycanroc?" asked Jordan.
"Cario?" asked Meeko.
"So is that how you want to be?" Ash asked Rockruff.
"Ruff. Ruff." barked Rockruff.
"Rockruff wants to be that strong." said Kukui.
"Makes sense to me. Lycanroc's cool!" said Ash. Suddenly, Rockruff gave out a puzzled bark. "Huh?" said Kukui, Ash and Jordan as Rockruff jumps off the couch and runs around in a circle.
"Professor." said Ash.
"Right. I think it's time!" Kukui replied. Out on Clawmark hill, both Midday and Midnight forms of Lycanroc howled into the night. "We're really far away, right?" asked Rotom.
"Yeah, but we can see them, so its fine." said Ash.
"Pika!" said Pikachu.
"If we were closer, our cover would be blown." said Jordan.
"Lucario." said Meeko.
Rockruff runs up to Magmar, barking at it for a challenge. "Magmar. Magmar." said Magmar. Rockruff growls as it runs towards the fire type Pokémon. "Magmar!" shouted Magmar, sending Flamethrower at Rockruff, who then dodges. Pokémon around them cheered that Rockruff dodged Magmar's attack as both Lycanroc watched the battle.
"Magmar!" said Magmar as Rockruff jumped towards it, headbutting it in the chest.
"Rockruff, you're doing great!" said Ash and Jordan.
"Pika! Lucar!" said Pikachu and Meeko.
"Magmar! Magmar!" shouted Magmar, giving the small puppy Pokémon a Fire Punch, knocking it back into the ground. "Magmar!" The Spitfire Pokémon then sends a Flamethrower towards Rockruff, who jumps up. The rocks on Rockruff's neck starts to glow.
"Here it comes." said Ash.
"Pika." said Pikachu.
"Come on, Rockruff." said Jordan.
"Lucar." said Meeko.
"It's going to use Rock Throw!" said Rotom.
"Hope it's a good one." said Kukui. Rockruff howls as it starts to use Rock Throw but was blasted by Flamethrower. "Oh, no!" said Rotom as Ash and Jordan gasp.
"Pika! Lucario!" said Pikachu and Meeko. Safely back on the ground, Rockruff didn't let Flamethrower stop it from defeating Magmar. Rockruff then runs towards Magmar. "Magmar!" shouted Magmar, jumping into the air as Rockruff howls. "Magmar!" Rockruff dodges Magmar's fire punch, then finally uses Rock Throw on Magmar.
"Mag…Mag! Mag! Mag! Mag!" said Magmar as Rockruff's attack hits its body, knocking it straight to the ground. Magmar lands on its back, groaning as Rockruff hits its stomach. Magmar sits up, groaning and growling at Rockruff, before finally passing out. "All right!" said Ash.
"Go Rockruff!" said Jordan.
"Pika! Cario!" shouted Pikachu and Meeko.
"That move was super impressive!" said Rotom. The other Pokémon chanted and cheered for Rockruff, happy that it defeated Magmar. Midday and Midnight forms of Lycanroc howled again into the night, now with Rockruff joining them. "Pika!" exclaimed Pikachu as they came back from Clawmark hill.
"You were amazing, Rockruff." said Ash as Pikachu, Meeko and Rockruff chased each other.
"You were better than amazing, Rockruff was stunning." said Jordan.
"You know, Ash, I know you wanted to help Rockruff train, but I can't believe you pulled it off the way you did." said Rotom.
"Well, I'm not surprised our training worked out." said Ash. "What do you say, Rockruff? That Rock Throw of yours was totally way beyond awesome."
"He's right." said Jordan.
"Lucar." said Meeko, petting Rockruff's head.
"Pikachu!" said Pikachu as Rockruff jumps into Ash's arms and gives Jordan a slobbery kiss.
"Ash?" Professor Kukui asked. "At the risk of sounding selfish, I have a suggestion. Maybe this is a good time to catch Rockruff."
"Huh?" said Ash.
"Really?" asked Rotom.
"Hm. Catch you?" Ash asked, looking at Rockruff.
"It makes sense to me." said Jordan.
"It does?" Ash asked her.
"Yeah. It's only fair that you catch Rockruff." said Jordan.
"Rock. Ruff." said Rockruff.
"Are you sure?" Ash asked the professor. "You're the one who's been taking care of Rockruff for so long."
"No, it's totally fine." said Kukui. "At this point, Rockruff has more trust in you and Jordan than anyone else. Thanks to the two of you, Rockruff perfected Rock Throw, and that allowed it to defeat Magmar. As far as I'm concerned and like Jordan said, you're obviously the perfect partner."
"Pikachu! Pika! Pika!" said Pikachu, climbing onto Ash's shoulder. Rockruff whimpers as it licks Pikachu's cheek. "Pika! Pika! Pikachu!" Pikachu tells Ash.
"Okay. Rockruff….what do you say?" asked Ash.
"Ruff. Ruff." said Rockruff.
"I want you on my team, so, let's do it!" said Ash, taking out a Pokeball.
"Rockruff!" said Rockruff, touching the Pokeball and letting itself be captured. The Pokeball shakes in Ash's hand before letting him know it was a successful capture. "All right! I caught Rockruff!" shouted Ash.
"Pika! Pika!" shouted Pikachu.
"Awesome!" shouted Jordan.
"Cario! Cario!" shouted Meeko.
"Come on out!" shouted Ash, releasing Rockruff from its Pokeball.
"Rockruff!" barked Rockruff.
"Now, time for training, part two!" said Ash. "Let's run!"
"Pika! Pika!" shouted Pikachu as he and Rockruff ran after Ash.
"No!" whined Jordan as she and Meeko followed suit. "No more training for tonight!"
"Training parts one and two?" asked Rotom. "But they're both exactly the same thing."
"They're running, but that's just Ash's style." Kukui said to Rotom. "I say we join them!"
"Hey, wait!" said Rotom as Kukui goes after the siblings and their Pokémon.
Narrator: Now that Ash has caught Rockruff, it demonstrates yet again just what an unusual trainer our oldest hero is….
"Come on, slow down!" Rotom cried out after them.
Jordan: Yeah, but did he really have to make me a target too?
Meeko: Lucar?
Narrator: No, he didn't have to, Jordan.
Jordan: Good, cause the next time he does that again….Ash is going to get more than just a sister beating. I'm going to go through with telling mom about it.
Meeko: Lucario!
Narrator: ….as the journey continues.
