Chapter one:

Mikey tries so hard to open the portal to save Leo after the other had sacrificed himself... Only to collapse as it refuses to work. He has tears steaming down his face and he hardly notices his brothers hurrying over to him. "I can't!" He sobs and is embraced by the other two. "I can't do it! I can't get it to work!" He cries as they hold him. He's too upset to even notice that they're crying as well. "I can't save him!" He falls into heavy sobs as the three stay close.

"It's okay." Raph assures Mikey gently petting his head. He does his best to hide a sniffle. "You tried. That's all we can ask for."

"But Leo...!" Mikey sobs hanging his head as he continues to sob.

"We'll get through this together." Raph promises as they all cry together.

None of them wanting to believe that Leo is actually gone. They let out all their tears though it felt like it hardly scratched the surface for all of them.

"Lets go back." Donnie suggests sounding tired and depressed.

Mikey just nods his head so Donnie contacts the others planning to get picked up.

Raph and Mikey sit there with their heads down as they remember what had happened. They wish there was something that they could have done. They wish that in someway they could have saved Leo. They blink in surprise as the van pulls up. They hadn't even realized the time had passed.

The three turtles climb into the back of the van where they sit with their heads bowed.

"We may have lost Leonardo. We will be taking a break to heal while the city also heals itself. There is no shame in being upset over this. We can get through this together. I am not losing anymore of you." Splinter tries to hug them the best that he can.

The three nod softly and the hug ends with Splinter leaning back.

April starts driving the van to get them back home. She glances to Casey who is sitting next to her. She sees his head down as he lets silent tears fall down his face. She has to turn back to the road and knows that the loss isn't easy on any of them. She opens her mouth to say something only to close it. What could she say? She's grieving like they are for Leo not being here anymore. She wishes that things had gone a different way.

Maybe Leo could have still been here with all of them.

The ride home is rather quiet as no one seems to be able to find to right words to say.

April parks the van and glances back. She only sees somber upset faces, which she knows shows how hard they're taking this.

They all head into the lair to which they separate.

Mikey dashes to his room slipping inside. He tries to keep his face away from sight as much as possible.

Donnie heads to his lab practically locking himself in there.

Raph heads to the kitchen for a few moments before heading into the dojo.

Casey flops onto the couch with a depressed sigh.

April wants to go over to help them all recover. She pauses turning to the rat mutant.

"Let them be for a little bit. They need sometime to process and grieve. You do too." Splinter takes a breath which tells April he needs it as well. "For now we'll do what we can. I'm going to set everything up so we can tend to wounds. It won't be okay right away. However in time we will all settle into the new normal that'll come up. For now let's take one step at a time and give everyone a little space."

April just hopes that he's right. She feels so tortured inside from the pain of knowing she won't see Leo again. She can't joke with him or hear him talk to her. She lost a family member. She just knows that this torturous pain is probably far from what Splinter, and the brothers, are feeling right now. She hopes that she can help them.

Once Splinter walks away April lets herself cry silently hoping that no one would notice.

In the void...

Leo is smashed once more into a large rock by Krang. He doesn't go through it as he just hits it hard with his shell. He isn't sure how much more he can take of this nonstop beating. He clutches the photo of his family tightly in his hand. He gasps as he is suddenly slammed into with Krangs body pushing him through the rock. He is thrown into the open space of the area around them after Krang gets him through the rock. His vision is going dark when he feels something grab onto him. He can tell that whatever has him isn't Krang though that's about it. He is pulled backwards with his gaze barely able to pick up Krang coming after him.

Something is tossed at Krang managing to hit him making him pause.

Leo lands onto the ground as whatever grabbed him let's go. He sees some figures looming over him before he passes out. He blinks his eyes open to find himself standing in an empty cement room.

His brothers, April, Casey and Splinter all appear around him after a puff of smoke. Their eyes staring at him with frustration, anger and disappointment.

"You screwed things up! You let them do so much damage! You should have done better! You're not the leader I thought you were!" Splinter scolds Leo who quickly glances to the others.

"I thought you were awesome. Guess I was wrong and you don't deserve that title. You never listen and it only causes trouble for everyone." April turns away in annoyed disappointment.

"You're not the Sensei I knew. You're nothing more than an ignorant and arrogant brat. I wish I never met you! You give my Sensei a bad reputation to his name!" Casey looks very disappointed that Leo wasn't how he thought he was.

"You refuse to work as part of the team even though we're supposed to be in this together." Raph clenches his teeth with a glare at Leo. "We're family Leo! We handle stuff together! Yet you act like that teamwork doesn't apply to you. If you wanted to strike out on your own just do so. Instead of tormenting us."

"Are we not important to you?!" Mikey blinks at Leo with angry hurt tears.

"I knew you wouldn't amount to anything." Donnie gives Leo a dark angry look.

Their mouths all open and Krangs voice comes through. "You wretched little pest!"

Leo brings his hands to his head clutching it. "No!" He shakes his head taking a step back. "Please. Stop. I'm sorry." His legs tremble until he collapses to sitting on his knees. He blinks and tries to grab the picture of his family that flies past him.

Casey grabs it and stares at Leo with the deep disappointment. "Guess we'll have to retake it. To make sure that it'll be one without so much as any memory of you. I can preserve the way my Sensei was, and forget about you." He rips it right in half before Leo's own eyes. He drops the pieces to the floor afterwards.

Leo shuts his eyes tightly as his arms wrap around his body. He sobs heavily as the events of what had happened race through him.

Every last little detail.

Leo can't stop sobbing as his mind forces him to relive what happened to him. His body trembles and he starts to wonder if this is some kind of hell. He did so wrong to his family and now he isn't even sure if he'll be able to make it up to them. He doesn't belong with them and he wonders if Krang managed to kill him. He would be better off that way anyways. He wouldn't be burdening anyone. "I'm sorry." He sobs with a slight hiccup from his crying. "I care about you all so much. I'm such a screw up." He doesn't get a response as he just keeps crying to himself.

Krangs pest comment keeps coming up in his mind.

"Hey. Can you hear me?"

Leo blinks and raises his head confused.

The figures of those he cared about have vanished leaving him alone.

Leo looks around with a sniffle before getting to his feet. He listens for the voice to speak once more.

A few moments later the voice speaks again. "Maybe you can't. I probably just got my hopes up." The words are followed by a sigh.

Leo starts to race for the source of the voice. He runs towards the wall hoping that there is a way through it. He wants out of here.

The wall pushes away from him as he keeps going.

Leo can tell the darkness around him keeps getting worse and worse. He pushes onwards since facing the unknown is worth it if he manages to see his family again. He is soon engulfed in the darkness only to feel his position shift to being on a bed. He groans softly as his eyes try to fight to stay closed. He needs to open them and see what's going on. He finally manages to get his eyes to open halfway. His vision is blurry before it finally focuses. He is staring right at a surprised turtle he's never seen before.

This turtle wears purple like Donnie yet clearly is different. His eyes soften and his shoulders slump in relief at seeing Leo awake. "You made it. Man I almost thought you weren't going to make it. You've been out for a few weeks. Almost a month actually." He looks Leo over a bit as if checking on his injuries. "He really did a number on you." He mentions while Leo can't bring himself to do more than lay there. "It was lucky I ended up opening a portal to where you were." He seems to pick up on that Leo is unable to really do much to respond. "You have a long way to go in your recovery but I can assure you that you're safe here." He turns indicating that someone had just come in. "Hes awake."

Someone approaches who turns out to look like Splinter yet different. "It is good to see you are awake." He tells Leo in a calm voice. "You had us pretty worried you wouldn't awaken at all."

Leo feels his eyes starting to close.

"You can rest some more. You're still pretty weak." The turtle tells him and Leo's eyes close as he passes out again.

Leo wondering where he is as something is definitely different compared to home.
