Summary: After being freed from Leon's grasps. Realizing everything was a lie and he was an 'it'. Mauro starts to see Hiiro as his light despite back then he despise him so much. POSTED IN ARCHIVE AS WELL.
Note: Mauro/Maura is the best character and deserves more love! I need more of his scene but it ended so fast :(

Green hair tied to a ponytail with some black hair on the back of his hair, he wears a necklace with four green gems and one middle red gem. His outfit consists of a yellow tunic, short pants and brown boots. He has a dark red tattoo on his cheek, his eyes are purple when he opens them.
Mauro Abelard sighs.
He is back at the empty apartment. Where good memories with Leon even though they were lies...it brought him warmth and the desire to live.
"All for nothing huh...?"
Mauro talks to himself time to time so he can make noise in this lonely apartment.
It is not like he is obligated to make the apartment brighter. He is all alone now.
No more waiting for Leon to get home from work.
No more needed to prepare meal to make Leon smile.
No more effort to be recognize and be praised as good boy for Leon.
Not anymore.
'It is all over...'
It is all like a bitter sweet dream he woke up.
Mauro hated that he realized his dream inside the Tree of Woe is the desire to be completely treated as Leon's son.
But he was wrong.
Too good to be truth.
It hurt more that it was indeed an illusion, a delusion of his wishes carved within him that he hid.
Embarrassingly the Tree of Woe exposed that.
"Eldora...full of shadows."
A empty paradise.
"Leon-sama wanted that for everyone."
Does that mean even him..?
No.
Nobody really knows what made Leon believe that having the Tree of Woe swallow the earth to eternal dream is to save them. Yet Mauro is chosen as a lamb sacrifice.
As if Leon is trying to be God who sacrifice his begotten son. However Mauro is not holy, he is a human being and so is Leon full of greed ambition.
Mauro fell to his bed facing the ceiling with so much hurt in his face yet his eyes were melancholy.
"Leon-sama...just why?"
How many times did Mauro ask himself about that?
Mauro actually heard it.
When Mauro with Lucia, Mimori, Kazuki, Alice and Kai had run off to save Hiro onto the final showdown of him and Leon.
Leon's evil voice echoed very loudly.
"Haha, that 'it' was indeed a very useful tool. He had exceed my expectations as a test subject of what will happen if the shadows consumed him into a god!"
Everyone gasps and cover their mouth. As much as possible they did not want to interrupt Hiro's battle with Leon.
Everyone who knows the person Mauro serves looks at him with pity.
They pities him.
'I was a pitiful human being after all.'
This world has condemn him like the God of Curses.
However as Mauro about to sank into depressing thoughts to reach another break down point.
Ryuugasaki Hiro's anger roared as he responded to Leon.
"I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU LEON! YOU MADE MAURO SUFFER! HOW DARE YOU TOY HIS FEELINGS! I WILL DEFEAT YOU...!"
Mauro snaps his head. His eyes glints affection. "Ryuugasaki...Hiro..."
To think a total stranger whom he aggressively bullied on a card game actually cared so much. Even though Hiiro and Lucia saved him during his possession, he still had doubts if they really wanted to be his friends.
But this proves it.
Hiro wants to avenge his despair.
Ryuugasaki Hiro was his benevolent hope.
Thus the chosen 6th's stood behind Hiro as they declare the power of their bonds.
Summoning all the Legendary Cards as Leon gets slash into half.
Without Mercy, Hiro sliced him the final blow.
Something in Mauro's heart is relieve that the evil manipulator who adopted him is defeated.
When Leon returned to normal, Mauro did not have a chance to say farewell or at least tell Leon that he is still thankful even though it was all an act.
It is thanks to Leon he enjoyed 10 years of being cared for even if its a set up trap.
Like an animal farm groomed to be a delicious meal when the time comes for their execution.
'Leon-sama...?'
Watching Leon falls to the abyss as all of them fell as well.
In Mauro's mind as he falls, the fear of death is there yet his friends especially Hiro and Lucia grabs his hands.
"Mauro!"
Mauro accepted it and all of them shut their eyes to embrace the ground impact.
Yet.
They were unharmed.
All is well, Mauro cannot help but smile at the kind and friendly scenery between Hiro and his friends.
Oh wait.
They are his friends now, they told him that despite the wickedness he had done to torment them.
The dream was over.
Mauro opened his eyes and found himself standing outside the building of Shadowverse Corporate.
'Leon-sama's office...' Mauro looks up the sky and smiled. "It ends well."
Mauro walks towards the building until he reached their apartment.
...
For some reason Mauro felt fear opening the door even though he know nobody will be greeting him.
UNLOCK.
CREAK~
"I'm home." Mauro whispered to himself.
As expected no lights on, however since it is morning the window glass reflects the sun.
SHUT.
Mauro enters the living room where Leon usually sits down and checks business papers.
"Leon-sama is dead I guess." Presume nobody has been found nor Hiro's parent's physical body is long gone.
Asagi's body was devoured.
Eiji's body died in starvation.
While Leon's body got sliced in half then he fell to the dark.
Droplets.
"Eh?"
Tears were there. "I thought I was ok parting with you..." Mauro fells on his knees as he sobs at the wide couch where they used to seat together. "Leon-sama...!" Mauro bawls like a child.
It hurts.
Mauro misses him.
It does not matter it was all fake.
He just wanted to cry it all out.
Mauro just wanted to release his sadness.

Days passed by...
*RING RING*
Mauro is still wearing the same clothes he wear. The way it revealed his shoulders as it sluggishly fell off with sleepy eyes...he scanned the room and found the window shows morning.
*RING RING*
"It's morning again..."
Yawning for a sec, finally Mauro's hand made the movement to search his cellphone.
*RING RING*
-BEEP-
Mauro answers the call. "Yes hello?" His ears went away from the device, a very enthusiastic voice.
["MAURO! WAZZUP!"]
Mauro opened his eyes revealing his real personality.
Somewhat annoyed at loud noises.
Ryuugasaki Hiro on the other line felt Mauro's silence. So he guessed, "Sorry was that Loud?"
Hiro hears Mauro sighs and responded somewhat exhausted. ["Please don't yell, I can perfectly hear you Ryuugasaki Hiro."]
Hiiro is actually with Kazuki, Mimori and Kai.
Kai fix his glasses and whispers the instructions to him. "Hiro-san, tell Mauro-san how he is doing!" Hiro almost forgot the plan. "Oh shit right!" Then he turned to Kazuki and Mimori. "What was it again?"
Mimori sweat drops. "After all the rehearsal you still can't remember?" Kazuki laughs. "Very Hiiro ya know?"
All those chitchatting is actually audible to Mauro's end.
Mauro anticipated the voice of Hiro going near the device again, he listened as his eyes closes back to his neutral face.
["S-say Mauro...how are you?"] Somewhat nervous. Mauro can tell it was not Hiro's own words.
But Mauro is playful, he played along. "I'm fine. What about you Ryuugasaki Hiro?"
Mauro can guess everyone is eavesdropping although he isn't sure if Lucia and Alice are around, after all he only heard four familiar voices.
Then he heard Hiro snaps at his friends after few whispering on correcting Hiro that he is doing something wrong apparently.
Hiro yells.
[" I GOT IT ALREADY ! BUT SCREW THE SCRIPT, I WANT TO SEE EYE TO EYE WITH MAURO! " ]
Mauro yawns, while the cellphone still within his ear reach he sat up his bed then paused for a second.
Bracing his feet from the cold dusty floor that he has not bothered to clean at all, Mauro Abelard made his way to open the window so he can welcome the morning wind.
WHOOSH~
Mauro is about to say something when suddenly Hiro went softer without a forced script.
["H-hey Mauro are you still there?"]
Mauro not thinking too deeply, he replied.
"Yes, yes am."
Then...
["Have you been taking care of yourself...?"]
Odd.
First thing came to Mauro's mind this is...odd.
"And why would you ask that?" Curiosity sparks within him.
Not expecting the next word.
["It's about Leon. I know you liked him, you are maybe alone right now...but..."] Hiro's tone became cheerful again. ["Like I said you are not alone anymore! I'm here for you and the others! So please hang out with us!"]
Mauro is done.
His heart flutters appreciation. It feels weird sometimes, that he can now feel others sincerity. He used to reject those, because Leon groom him to be loyal to his mission as a sacrifice.
Mauro chuckles.
Hiro freaks out. "Eh? Mauro?"
Hearing the peaceful voice from their worry some friend.
["Ryuugasaki Hiro, you really are strange and kind. I do like that...thank you."]
Hiro smiles wider. "Then come to my home! I invited everyone! It is my birthday today! Please be there!"
Mauro slightly open his beautiful eyes again.
"Sure do. When is it?" Looking at the untouched surroundings yet dust already all over the apartment. Mauro had been depressed and locked himself in here...he had not even eaten.
To think he is used to hunger, how it bothers him before now he doesn't. This must be a suicidal phase even though he decided to live.
'As long as...I have my friends...'
Eris advice made him remember their conversation.
Mauro agrees. "Ok, I'll be there. See you all later."
Finding a coat to cover the seemingly cold room, Mauro puts on a cloak as his new identity.
No longer exposing his scars in bare.
As Mauro Abelard leaves his apartment, before the door shuts he whispers.
"Bye-bye, Leon-sama."
Door shuts.

"Ooii Mauro!" Hiro waving towards Mauro whose approaching him with a genuine peaceful smile.
"Yes, yes, am right over here Ryuugasaki Hiro."
Mauro believes Hiro is now his hope along with his set of friends.
