"Do you love me?" The prince asked the princess.
"Yes, of course I do!" The princess answered, almost immediately. Her eyes filled with concern.
"Then...can you do me a favor? Please?" The prince spoke, his voice trembling with emotion. This was very unlike him. He wasn't the type to show emotion to people, be they strangers, friends, family, or even his own lover.
The princess paused for a second, but then nodded, her heart racing with anticipation. "Of course, my love. I'll do anything for you. Just name it."
The prince, who lay in his bed dying, mustered the strength to speak, he opened his mouth, and said "I need you to...-"
Prologue - A Wish From the Heart - Part 1
It was an ordinary day in the Kingdom of Roaiy, although one could argue it was a day marked by a unique departure.
It was a day where the princess of realm was leaving somewhere far away, not to get married like most girls her age, but somewhere completely different.
"My dear princess, I know it's rather late to bring this up, but are you absolutely certain about this decision?" an older man inquired. Concern etched lines of worry upon his countenance.
"I'll be fine, you don't have to worry about me. I want to do this, after all." A younger girl answered, her voice tinged with determination.
"But Princess Athena, I can't help but be concerned. The life of a student may not be the most suitable path for you. Why not heed the wishes of your parents, the King and Queen, and remain here?"
Athena turned to face the man who had faithfully served her family for as long as she could remember. He had been a stalwart presence throughout her 16 years, known as Harold, a steady anchor in her life.
"I understand your concerns, Harold. I'd be lying if I said I'm not nervous myself, but I have to do this. I have to go to that academy."
Harold nodded, his countenance a blend of pride and apprehension. "Very well, my princess. I won't attempt to sway your decision any further, but I'd like you to accept this." He presented Athena with a necklace.
"What's this? It's so pretty." Athena said as she looked at the pretty necklace. It bore the symbol of House Eldrington, which was, in fact, a graceful and intricate design featuring a soaring phoenix, its wings outstretched, symbolizing rebirth and resilience. Eldrington was Athena's house, the house which ruled over Roaiy.
"This is a present from your little brother, the prince. He truly wished to be here today to bid you farewell, but as you're aware, he had to accompany the King on an urgent journey to the eastern Kingdom of Gadia."
"I see. It's so pretty, he really shouldn't have..." Athena said as she put the necklace on.
Being the heir sure can't be easy. Such a shame, he's the only family member I wanted to say goodbye too before I left.
With the necklace securely fastened around her neck, Athena felt a renewed sense of determination. She was still feeling a little scared to leave her beloved kingdom like this, but she knew she was making the right choice.
"Alright, Harlod...I think the royal carriages is ready now, I should get going."
"Did you say goodbye to everyone? Did you say your goodbye to the Queen?"
"I...I did, yes." Athena answered, remembering that awkward conversation she had with the Queen earlier in the day.
The reigning Queen of Roaiy isn't Athena's biological mother; she is her father's second wife, whom he married after Athena's mother passed away. While Athena and the Queen didn't harbor any ill feelings toward each other, they also weren't exceptionally close.
Athena understood that had she been a boy, and was set to inherit the throne ahead of her younger brother, her relationship with the Queen would have taken on a vastly different dynamic – one that might not have been as harmonious.
"Then I guess all is left is for you to get on that carriage and be on your way to the kingdom of Veridia. It's so frustrating the rules of the academy says servants aren't allowed to come, I'd had loved to go with you and make sure that place is fitting of one such as you, my dear Princess." Harold said as he put what's left of Athena's baggage in the carriage.
"Harold... I'll miss you," Athena said, her voice filled with genuine affection and sorrow. She wanted to embrace the man who had always been there for her, but as a princess, that wasn't something she's allowed to do, she can't just go embracing men who aren't related to her in some way, she wasn't a little girl anymore.
"I'll pray for you everyday, my dear Princess." Harold said, his face reflecting the sadness in his heart.
Athena got up into the carriage with Harlod's help, who then got down and closed the door.
It didn't take long for the carriage coachman to start the journey towards the Kingdom of Veridia. The wheels creaked as they began to roll, carrying Athena toward her new life at the academy. She glanced out of the carriage window at the familiar sights of her homeland, her kingdom. A kingdom she loved, a kingdom she wanted to return too one day.
"The Royal Academy of Lumina, the place where many brilliant minds are born...I can't wait to see it." Athena spoke as she looked out of the window. Thee two suns up at the sky shined brightly, almost if they were wishing the princess a safe journey.
Author Note: Hello hello! I always wanted to do something like this, and I'm finally giving it a shot. I am a bit nervous, but I also think this will be so much fun so I hope y'all who read this also decide to join in on the fun.
This is a SYOC kind of story, which of course means that there are some rules you'll need to follow if you'd like to send me a character! But before that I should explain a bit more about this world as you can tell this story takes place in a fantasy, medieval, kind of world. So it's not really modern. I'll try to make this simple as I don' want to overwhelm anyone with a sea of text. Here is what you need to know about the world before creating your SYOC.
About the world:
-The story takes place on a continent called Auroros
-The following are the countries on the said continent:
+ Kingdom of Roaiy, ruled by house Eldrington. Ruled by King Aeson.
+ Kingdom of Gadia, ruled by house Thalorin. At war with the Principality of Klac.
+Kingdom of Veridia, ruled by house Lovlle. It's where The Royal Academy of Lumina is located, and it's also the only country on the continent to be ruled by a Queen.
+The Celestrian Empire, a religious country where House Solariel holds the throne. Ruled by Emperor William III.
+Principality of Klac, at war with the Kingdom of Veridia. Ruled by branch family of house Thalorin. Ruled by Prince Saul.
UPDATE: I'm no longer accepting characters from other countries, your character HAS to from one of the five above, sorry!
- Your character has be from one those countries. Where they're from, and what their position is left up to you. If it feels too complicated you can just say they are a random noble of one of the countries above and call it a day.
-Don't be afraid to try and add lore to the world through your character! I'll try and make it fit if I can, and if I think I can't, I'll let you know.
-You ARE allowed to try and make characters which are the heir to a certain country, you don't have to hold back.
Now, the basic rules:
1. PMing: If you want to send me a character, please message me on my account here!
2. Character Info: I'll be willing to accept more than one character from one person but ONLY send me a second character if your first character got accepted, and if I accepted your character, the chances of me accepting your second character will be lower.
3. No "Ultimate" talent required: This does feel like cheating, as this is a Danganronpa fanfic, but here is the thing, the characters will be vastly different as it is depending on their rank and which country they are from, so I don't think "Ultimate" talents are needed here.
4. Don't need to be original: I don't really care if you reuse an idea of a character you already gave to someone else, but with how different the world is in my story, I hope you still make sure they fit the universe.
5. Try to make your character a noble, as the academy in this story is for them, though I AM willing to take 3 or 2 commoners, but you'll need to explain how they were allowed into the academy.
6. The cast will be made up of 18 characters, 7 female characters and 11 male characters. The reason for this as this story does take place in a somewhat medieval world, where gender equality isn't REALLY a thing yet, so I want this reflected in the gender ratio.
7. There is a deadline, and it's going to be the 20th of October. Though even if we reached that date, you'll still have time to send me a character as it'll take me time to fill the remaining spots, I imagine.
8. I will update if someone's character took an important spot in the world. For example, if someone made a character that is the heir to a certain country, I'll let it be known so no one will send a character in a similar spot in the world. So MAKE SURE TO CHECK often.
9. You ARE free to check a character idea with me first before sending it.
