~ Adventure Logs of Vampires with Monsters in Their Pockets ~
Damon was sprawled out on the couch with an Umbreon named My Shadow curled up next to him. (Everyone other than Damon just called him Shadow, or else things got confusing quickly.) Shadow lifted his head and looked toward the front door with a sleepy "Bree?"
"It's just Stefan," Damon said, reaching down to scratch between the Pokemon's ears.
Stefan opened the door and a Crobat flew into the house, trailing a multitude of Zubat behind her.
Damon stood up and said, "Baby Blue Bat, no! The attic is already full of Zubat you brought back from the woods. Put those back where you found them."
Baby Blue Bat cheerfully ignored her trainer, escorting her newly adopted Zubat children to the attic where she kept the rest of her babies. The two vampires watched them go without attempting to do anything to stop the Pokemon.
"Baby Blue Bat?" Stefan repeated, nonplussed. "Shouldn't her name be Adult Purple Bat?"
Damon sighed.
"I named her when she was a Zubat and she doesn't want her name changed. I tried calling her Big Purple Bat, Amethyst, Queen Bat... she won't respond to anything but Baby Blue Bat."
"I guess that makes sense."
Stefan just called his Pokemon by their species names, which they seemed to respond to well enough... although honestly only half of his team was trained for battle, and the other half were spoiled pets that behaved as badly as Damon's Pokemon.
The local Zubat population had suddenly, dramatically declined. As the Pokemon Ranger for Mystic Falls, it was Liz's job to find out what caused the imbalance in the ecosystem that led to this.
Much to her surprise, it turned out that a single Crobat was to blame, and the entirety of the missing Zubat population was crammed into the attic of the Salvatore house, because Baby Blue Bat had decided that all of the wild Zubat were her babies.
Damon, who hadn't had any luck in convincing his own Pokemon that they couldn't keep hundreds of Zubat in the attic, was surprised at how easily Liz talked her into letting them go.
"Damon, look what I found," Liz said, folding back a corner of the towel so he could see the tiny creature that she was carrying.
Damon let out a theatrical gasp.
"Is that a shiny Zubat?"
"Shiny Pokemon in the wild are often abandoned by their parents for attracting too much attention from predators and Pokemon trainers, so I thought you and Baby Blue Bat might like to take this little guy in."
As he reached out to take it from her, Stefan yelled, "Damon, no!"
"Baby Green Bat~" Damon cooed as he cuddled the towel-wrapped baby Zubat.
"Don't name him that!"
Baby Blue Bat perched on Damon's shoulder and made happy bat noises.
