The sound of the rain hitting the window was the only thing that the three of them could hear as they all looked at one another.
Max and Rico could only stare at Kazuma with wide eyes as they saw the electricity coming out of his hands while Kazuma smiled with pride as he looked at his friends who had their mouths open with disbelief.
"So how about it do you want to have a grail war between the three of us?" Kazuma asks his friends who quickly recover after they hear his question.
"What do we need to do?' Rico asks Kazuma as he slowly backs away from the Japanese teen.
"Nothing, the only reason that I'm even offering you guys this chance is because of how beaten up you were after finding out about your cousin," Kazuma answers Rico as he looks at Max.
The reason that everyone was in Rico's apartment was that Max had found out that his cousin was some kind of modern-day hero, that was a part of some secret organization that could travel through time and even go into alternate dimensions, to fight the people from those worlds.
Normally a person would have been excited to find out that magic was real.
The problem was that Max's parents had always told him that magic wasn't real and that the things that he saw in anime didn't exist.
It just so happened that those same people were able to use magic and were aware of Max's cousin's actions in the organization that he was a part of.
This discovery nearly broke Max who ran to Rico, who was the only person that he could trust, and because Rico and Kazuma already had plans for the night the three of them ended up drinking together.
"I'm in." Max answers Kazuma before he turns to look at Rico who silently nods at Kazuma.
"Okay, first thing is first we need to set up a couple of rules." Kazuma says to his friends, but he stops talking when he notices that the world around them has changed.
"You know if hadn't bought the three of you here the mages of that would would have killed all of you." Aqua says to Kazuma as she puts a finger on his nose.
"Where are we?" Rico asks Kazuma with a mixture of fear and shock, but he quickly loses those feelings when he sees Aqua who playfully winks at him.
"Hello miss I'm Rico and this is."
"Max." Aqua finishes Rico's words as she walks back to her chair before she sits down again.
Aqua glares at Kazuma who ignores whatever anger the goddess has towards him at the moment, and seeing ho Kazuma isn't willing to accept his punishment Aqua is forced to give up for the moment.
She turns her attention to the Americans who have become Kazuma's friends and snaps her fingers.
"Sit down and I'll explain the rules." she says to the pair as she snaps her fingers before a pair of wooden chairs appear next to Rico and Max.
"Where's mine?" Kazuma asks Aqua.
"You don't get one." Aqua answers Kazuma who sits on the floor and then decides to lie down.
"Okay the two of you were meant to live normal lives, but a certain someone ruined that and if I hadn't brought you here that group that his cousin is a part of would have hunted you down."
"Before you start asking questions they aren't the only group in the world and they don't know that you're here." she says to the pair.
"Now the Earth is in the age of reason, which means magic and people that can just do things aren't a powerful force anymore, so I can't just give the two of you magic." she explains to the pair, who immediately lower their heads in defeat.
"So it's a good thing that Kazuma is here because I can't just use him to make a room for you to have our game in." she says to Max and Rico who immediately look at Aqua with wide smiles.
"Calm down, the room will only work if the three of you are together and all of you agree to make it." Aqua says as she raises a finger.
"We will fill the room with primal energy so you won't have a problem with using your powers." Eris says to the pair as she walks into the room.
"What are you doing here?" Aqua asks Eris who immediately points at Kazuma who is holding a magic circle in his hands.
"So he told you?" Aqua asks Eris who nods and then points at the other goddess in the room.
"If anybody asks the three of us are having a contest and the three of you are our champions." Wolbach says to the three Huans who nod at her.
"Now what should we use as a prize?" Eris asks Aqua and Wolbach.
"They get to use magic isn't that enough?" aqua answers her.
'True, but the higher-ups are going to want an answer." Wolbach says to Aqua before she snaps her fingers.
"I got it, the prize will be a true miracle, not a real one but that is what we will tell everyone if someone asks." Wolbach says to everyone.
"But if nothing happens then the higher-ups will get suspicious." Eris says to Wolbach, while she has a hand on her chin.
"That's the best part, we just have to say that the competition was the wish after all they were supposed to live normal lives. So only a miracle could make something like this happen." Wolbach answers Eris who looks at Aqua who is already standing up.
"Three days, you have three days to prepare.' Aqua says to Kazuma and his friends before she sends them back to Earth.
"Now how will we make it so those two can use magic?" Eris asks Aqua who brings up the different command spells that the Magus of this version of Earth use.
the three goddesses look at each other and silently agree that they don't like the command spells.
"Guild cards?" Aqua asks Wolbach and Eris who repeat her words.
On earth, Kazuma- Max and Rico found themselves looking at three cards that were made out of light, each of them took one of the cards and found that they all had the same things written on them.
The cards had all of the skills that Kazuma had learned to use in the other world and a few that he never had a chance to use either because his opponent was too strong or he just didn't like using the skills.
"Three Days," Max says as he looks at the card in his hand like a child who finally managed to buy the toy that he wanted, after saving his allowance for nearly a year.
"Three days," Rico says as he looks at Max and smirks at his best friend's expression.
"Three Days." Kazuma repeats his friend's words as he looks at the two men and smiles, as he feels the familiar sense of magic flowing through him.
Unbeknownst to the three friends the amount of power flowing through their bodies isn't able to be contained by the apartment.
So after it manages to escape through the walls of the apartment it flows into the world and is immediately picked up by the magus and various beings of the world who feel the power calling to them.
