Author's note:

Hello everyone! This is a one-shot story I decided to write, inspired by KiwiQueenREWRITTEN's FNaF: SB rewrite on YouTube. This is also the very first fanfic I've ever wrote so please keep your expectations low, and keep in mind that I'm open to any criticism.

Gregory

Gregory's systems started up, his dark hazel eyes snapped open, only to be greeted by the walls incasing him inside the recharge station. He reached the back of his neck, brushed away frayed strands of brown hair, found the charging cord, and pulled.

The cord fell out, letting out a small thud as it hit the back wall of the compartment.

The recharge station, now registering that it is no longer in use, freed Gregory, the door infront of him sliding open.

Gregory stepped out, the repurposed pizzeria revealing itself to him, the broken ceiling lights letting off blue sparks from their exposed wires.

He was home.

And there infront of him was Vanny, sitting at a party table with her back turned to him, typing away on her laptop. She stopped briefly, turning around to face him once she heard the door slide open.

"Hey sleepy head," She said weary, giving him a gentle smile, her emerald green eyes half hidden behind her drooping eyelids.

That detail immediately concerned Gregory, making him instinctionally open up his mouth to ask, "Hey, are you okay Vanny?" He said, keeping his voice low, "You look a little tired, maybe you should try to get some sleep?"

Vanny paused, staring at him with a blank expression, then shaking her head, "Ah no, I'm fine," She said, her voice dry and raspy, a few strands of blonde hair escaping the messy ponytail she had failed to contain it in.

"Besides, I have to go back up to the surface. I have one last thing to do."

"Well, what ARE you doing?" Gregory asked, leaning over to the side to see her laptop's screen. "Maybe I can help?"

Vanny willed herself to respond, but then faltered, the sparkle in her eyes returning, "Well I've been trying to recode the animatronics but it's not working."

She pulled out six purple chips out of her pocket, "But I WAS able to reprogram these chips, they just need to placed inside them manually. Can you do that for me?"

"Yes," Gregory said, almost immediately, not even stopping to think about what he had just agreed to.

He just wanted to help Vanny.

Vanny let out a sigh of relief, closing her eyes and leaning back in her chair, saying, "Thank you Gregory. I knew I can count on you."

She gestured for him to take the chips out of her open palm.

Gregory picked them up, observing them curiosity.

"I'm gonna go lay down," Vanny yawned, adjusting her security hat, "Wake me up and let me know when you're back."

"Yes ma'am," Gregory said, putting the chips in his back pocket, and starting to head towards the entrance.

He stepped through the shattered glass door, the shards beneath him crunching and cracking, and into the main lobby and out the small entryway.

The massive cavern soon revealed itself, a long string of fairy lights lighting the way, smoke filling the air as the generators whirled to keep the place alive.

Gregory started walking towards the cloud of smoke, a security bot rolling pass him as it patrolled the dark cave, the mist consuming him as he entered.

The soft amber glow cut through the thickness, still lighting the way, while discarded staff bots lined the rocky walls.

The cavern soon revealed itself again as he left the smoke behind, the string of lights reaching it's length, letting complete darkness consume the rest of the cave.

Gregory activated his night vision as he looked up at the slope, catching a glimpse of the sewers above, the surface just in sight.

With that, he started to walk up the rocky hill, the gentle terrain allowing a gradual transition.

Gregory lost his footing a few times, had to climb when the surface became too steep at some points, but eventually he made it to the top.

He stepped onto solid concrete, the ground evening itself out, the underground dump in full view.

He was out.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - Today we placed a new section of concrete and as soon as it dried, we started to see cracks. I am worried we are building over a sinkhole here. Before construction was approved, there was a site evaluation, right?
