Chapter Thirty-Seven

It has been a few days. Danielle's magic finally stabilized back to some normality. But Danielle felt so exhausted and not herself after what happened. Today would be no different after returning into her mind to train with her past lives.

"Glad you could make it back," said Aethyr, staring at Danielle with the others. "Before we decide who you'll train with first, we're going to make one thing clear so you can understand."

"Okay, what is it?" asked Danielle, staring at Aethyr.

"You won't be able to leave a lot while training," replied Aethyr, staring at Danielle. "Years will go by while training here."

"Eh?" said Danielle, confused. "Wait, hold up… years!? Everyone is going to worry what's wrong with me if I never wake up."

"There's nothing to worry about," said Hikaru, looking at Danielle. "Think of it like the hyperbolic time chamber from that anime."

"Wait… that means," said Danielle, remembering the anime slowly. "That the flow of time is different."

"Exactly," said Ori, leaning his chair back. "The only thing you would have to worry about is training your actual body since muscle memory won't really work here."

"That's a bummer," said Danielle, sighing.

"I've already thought up a regime for you when not here," said Caius, staring at Danielle. "I expect it to be followed to the t."

"Yay," said Danielle, weakly.

"First off, you'll be training with me first," said Aethyr, looking at Danielle. "Since my world was one of the many first worlds to come into existence."

"Flying lessons will be with me among other things," said Namari, before pointing to Ethari. "As will Ethari."

"We'll be gracing the skies with our beautiful performances," said Ethari, winking at Danielle.

"Okay," said Danielle, nervously blushing.

"All right then," said Aethyr, seven colorful gates glowing in the room. "Each gate here leads to our sectors. We'll be heading to mine."

"Um…" said Danielle, looking at all seven gates. "Is there one specific to me?"

"Oh, yes," replied Lotus, looking at Danielle. "We'll show you later."

"Come on Danielle," said Aethyr, leading Danielle towards his gate.

Walking through the gate, Danielle sees the sector that represented Aethyr before her. A vast forest with buildings all around. Certain flowers nearby that glowed red. Walking on up a path, Danielle spots a building with some ostrich like creature nearby. The building was a simple two story and was very much styled like the rest of the buildings.

"Where are we?" asked Danielle, looking around the village. "It's really beautiful here."

"That it is," said Aethyr, petting the ostrich like creature. "This is where I was raised before I traveled. Welcome to Flowerburg Dior."

"I thought you were from Lorimar," said Danielle, staring at Aethyr.

"Born there but raised here," said Aethyr, walking inside the house. "Come, sit."

"So… um…" said Danielle, sitting down. "Where do I begin?"

"We begin by learning before actually doing magic," replied Aethyr, sitting down as well. "I'm glad that Aster has helped you with your magic but you really need to step up your game. And understanding it from the beginning is key."

"These are going to be long training sessions," said Danielle, sighing. "Will I be able to learn Healing Light?"

"Eventually. Let me see your hands for a second," said Aethyr, extending his hand.

"O-okay," said Danielle, looking at her hand then letting Aethyr look at them.

"Hmmm," said Aethyr, humming while tracing his fingers along Danielle's palms. "I have to say, you did a good job crafting a shortsword that day in the library."

"I don't get it," said Danielle, moving her hand back to her. "What does looking at my hands mean I did a good job?"

"I was assessing what weapons would work best with you by studying her hands," replied Aethyr, looking at Danielle. "Granted, it looks like staffs and rods are the most suitable for you as long as they are not the heavy ones but it looks like you can handle light weight swords and bows."

"That's cool," said Danielle, before twiddling her fingers. "Um… is… is there a chance I may be able to see yours and the others memories on occasions?"

"I don't see why not," replied Aethyr, leaning forward. "Though I'd be careful with Caius's memories. He's not one to share his memories that easily."

"What happened to him to make him like this?" asked Danielle, staring at Aethyr. "Will I be able to hear your name eventually?"

"You'll have to look through his memories to understand him," replied Aethyr, sighing. "As for my name, either you'll hear it or it will just come to you."

For the remainder of her time in Aethyr's area, there was just a bunch of talking between the two. Once done talking, Aethyr guided Danielle to the gate leading to Lotus's area. A vast sky was before her, seeing she was on some elaborate temple with the top most part shaped like a fox's head.

"Santo Toledo!" shouted Danielle, clinging to one of the two fox statues at the top. "Get me down!"

"Sensitive ears here," said Lotus, sitting on one of the large ears.

"Lotus," said Danielle, shaking like a leaf. "What are we doing up here? So hi-hi-hi-high… oooo, me no like."

"I like to come here from time to time," said Lotus, swinging her feet about. "This is also the place of the first man I loved became a guardian."

"I'm sorry," said Danielle, sadly sitting down. "I didn't know."

"It's okay. It was never meant to be," said Lotus, before jumping off the ear and landing in front of Danielle. "This place is very old and abundant in magic."

"Please don't tell me my lessons with you will be up here," said Danielle, gripping the fox statue tighter.

"Oh no, not all of them. We can go to the ground," said Lotus, jumping off the temple. "Follow me!"

"Oh, hell no!" shouted Danielle, before wondering how to get down then seeing a ladder nearby. "Ooooo, I'm going to have to climb down. Lord, help me."

It actually took a long time for Danielle to get down. And if that wasn't the case, it was fighting Lotus's memories of the monsters that resided within and outside the temple. Danielle had conjured a shortsword to handle them though squealed with seeing the much cuter monsters such like the squirrel like ones and human shaped tigers. By the time she got down to the base and saw Lotus, Danielle was exhausted.

"Not bad with just fighting with just a shortsword crafted from your magic," said Lotus, arms crossed over her chest. "But you could have also attacked with your magic."

"I was more focused with not dying from a heart attack," said Danielle, trying to catch her breath. "Can we stick to the ground till I can handle heights much better?"

"We really don't have that luxury right now," replied Lotus, leaning forward. "That day is fast approaching and you need to be ready. Now then, lunchtime!"

"You're weird," said Danielle, chuckling slightly.

"Well, it's like what Eda and Luz said," said Lotus, holding out a bowl of seafood gratin while holding manju in her other hand. "Us weirdos have to stick together, you know. Here."

Believe it or not, Danielle actually enjoyed her time with Lotus. Though Danielle shuffled away the thought on how she could actually taste and eat the food Lotus gave her. Lotus conformed to Danielle that she was more suited with water and light and started Danielle off with learning Water Laser. Danielle could only hold the spell for a few seconds before it dissipated. Afterwards Lotus geared Danielle towards Ethari's area. Danielle stood in a town with a parade going on.

"Whoahoho!" said Danielle, looking around. "This must be the Fantasia parade. So cool."

"That's right, everyone," said Ethari, flying off a parade float and flying in the sky before seeing Danielle and flying over. "Come on, join the fun."

"Oh, I'm not sure," said Danielle, smiling while looking at the magic being used in the parade. "I didn't mean to intrude on your memory here."

"Oh, come on," said Ethari, lifting Danielle up.

"No-no, wait…" said Danielle, clinging to Ethari while giggling.

"Fantasia is meant to be enjoyed," said Ethari, waving his hand about. "Besides, I always have this memory active."

"Perchè?" asked Danielle, looking at Ethari.

"Cause I always feel so alive and happy with my guildmates," said Ethari, flying down to the various floats. "Before them, I was found by the magic council and living with them was not ideal. Sure, Org felt like a grandfather to me at times but it was so stressful trying to live up to the council's expectations."

"Were you like Natsu?" asked Danielle, staring at Ethari.

"No," replied Ethari, deeply sighing. "While we both were born hundreds of years ago, my father sealed me in crystal during the war after losing mother to dragons that were against their marriage and having me."

"Sorry," said Danielle, downcast.

"It's okay. Besides after running away and being found by Porlyusica, I've been happy," said Ethari, landing down and letting Danielle down. "By the time we reach a certain level, I bet you can open Luz's magic pathways within her. Girl is definitely descended from humans that were close to magic leylines."

"Seriously," said Danielle, smiling. "Luz is going to be so happy to hear that. Why can't she access it then?"

"Cause the magic was sealed up long ago on Earth never to be touched again," replied Ethari, staring at Danielle. "Now enough about that, let's learn a little magic. I was exceptionally good with bardic magic in my world."

"Maybe I don't have to ask Mr. Raine now," thought Danielle, before looking back at the parade.

"Hey, why don't you enjoy Fantasia right now," said Ethari, staring at Danielle. "Cause once I begin training you, there'll be little time to enjoy some of this stuff."

"Can't we have fun while learning?" asked Danielle, looking at Ethari.

"You got me there," said Ethari, scratching his head while laughing.

After Ethari started the parade from the beginning, Danielle was able to enjoy it more. Ethari even showed what he usually did in the parade and showed off his skills, casting various magic spells and singing various songs. Various ideas were going off in Danielle's head while watching the parade. After it was done, Ethari led Danielle to Namari's gate. Unfortunately, Danielle wished she hadn't. Danielle was near some weirdly shaped asymmetric building.

"Hey Danielle," said Namari, staring at Danielle then the building. "Sorry, but I am a little busy."

"Wha-What is this place?" asked Danielle, feeling uneasy and nauseous. "I feel sick just by being near it."

"Besides the fact this is where we Black Bulls reside," said Namari, watching sentient memory versions of his squad mates patrol the area. "It's also where our darkest thoughts and memories reside. The darkness within the light."

"Even my darkness?" said Danielle, backing up.

"Please, none of the dark things you've thought up and such were able to manifest as badly as ours," replied Namari, staring at Danielle. "No, they're itching to get out and have fun with you."

"Haha, lead me to the next gate please," said Danielle, backing away even more before seeing two certain members of the Black Bulls. "Hello, hot stuff! I mean…"

"Alright, time for you to go," said Namari, seeing Danielle go through the gate to Hikaru. "Oomph, Finral would have been ecstatic knowing that right now. Luck, I wouldn't even know."

Before Danielle was vast in japanese architecture, ranging from old to modern. Walking down a cobblestone path, Danielle comes across what looked to be Hikaru. Running on over, Danielle notices no movement and gets a closer look, realizing that it wasn't Hikaru but someone similar to her somewhat.

"Looks like you've seen my mother," said Hikaru, sitting on the extended deck of the house.

"Your mamma?" said Danielle, really looking at the woman. "You sure not sister?"

"Oh, I'm sure," said Hikaru, standing up and walking over. "Meet my mother, Megumi Yuumi, maiden name Tadokoro. While I could pass for my mother, upon closer inspection you'll see the difference."

"I see what you mean once I got to a certain distance," said Danielle, a slight blush on her face.

"Just because I can't do magic doesn't mean I still can't train you," said Hikaru, bending to eye level with Danielle. "I can still teach you other stuff. I was the top student in the martial arts club I attended."

"But I thought muscle memory…" said Danielle, staring at Hikaru.

"You can still practice the movements in the waking realm," said Hikaru, looking at Danielle. "And I can correct them since you can still see me like you have been since you were a mere baby."

"Oh," said Danielle, scratching her head before looking at Hikaru. "You know, you're the only one with a wedding ring. Did the others…"

"Not really," said Hikaru, gesturing Danielle to sit down next to her. "I may have found love and had kids but not everyone of us was lucky enough in that regard. Aethyr knew his purpose from the beginning and decided he didn't want to get into relationships to prevent any heartache."

"So, he wasn't attracted to anyone?" said Danielle, before thinking. "I wish I could just hear his name already."

"No, not really," replied Hikaru, pushing a strand of hair back. "Lotus did find the man she wanted though there were times she was attracted to some women but not in a sense to actively pursue in a romantic relationship."

"Whoa," said Danielle, blushing.

"Danielle, I know you've fantasized about certain anime females with you or you gender bent them in your fantasies cause they were attractive to you," said Hikaru, making Danielle blush more. "But I also know you're actually straight on the realistic scale. I believe you'll find Mr. Right eventually, and he'll love you, flaws and all."

"Thanks Ru-chan," said Danielle, leaning into Hikaru's shoulder. "What about the others?"

"Ethari is actually attracted to both man and woman," replied Hikaru. "Though when a dragon finds a mate, it's for life. So, when it was their time to go, Ethari went into quite a depression when his two mates went."

"That had to really hurt," said Danielle, gripping the hem of her shirt.

"It was. He secluded himself into his mind and encased himself in crystal so he wouldn't have to suffer lose again," said Hikaru, deeply sighing. "It took a long time for us to get him back to normal."

"Was he able to go back to Fairy Tail?" asked Danielle, looking at Hikaru.

"By the time he got out of the crystal, the world had severely changed," replied Hikaru, looking at the sky. "Magic Guilds were on the bridge of extinction but still Fairy Tail proved to be still resilient when he returned. Whatever members that descended from his old guildmates, he helped and he did find love again eventually."

"I'm glad he was able to find it again," said Danielle, getting back into a sitting position.

"Caius was completely straight like you," said Hikaru, still looking at the sky. "But every woman he fell in love with was in love with someone else. He just gave up on love at a certain point and decided falling in love was pointless. So, he basically died alone."

"Is there any way to show him that there are people that do love him?" asked Danielle, staring at Hikaru. "Cause I remember what Makarov said in that one episode in Japanese, there are some in this world who prefer isolation however there isn't a single person who can endure it."

"It would take a miracle for that to happen," said Hikaru, sighing. "Namari had a dragon beastman lover from the Hino country. Wasn't really interested in women. And Ori was interested in getting together with either but was too scared to actually pursue and kept with just fantasizing about it."

"And you," said Danielle, looking at Hikaru. "What about you?"

"I had an attraction to both men and women," replied Hikaru, back to looking at the sky. "But when my childhood friend proposed to me after many dates, I knew he was the one for me, just like my mother as well."

"This mind dive…" said Danielle, leaning into Hikaru's shoulder. "Think I can rest after I visit Ori and Caius?"

"Of course," replied Hikaru, gesturing to nearby gate. "Why don't you head over to the next one?"

"Okay," said Danielle, walking towards the gate before looking back at Hikaru. "Bye."

Walking through the gate, Danielle comes upon a horrific scene. A thunderstorm was brewing very badly and a carriage was upturned with the driver and the people inside dead and a nearby bear like monster dead as well. A young-looking Caius is staring at the two people before him.

"Mommy! Daddy!" cried young Caius, drenched and bending down over his parent's corpses. "Please don't leave me!"

"Caius…" said Danielle, getting teary eyed before feeling someone grab her shirt collar and pulling her towards them. "Eh?"

"Stay out of my memories!" shouted Caius, tossing Danielle out of his memory and properly into his sector. "You had no right seeing that!"

"I didn't mean to," said Danielle, standing up. "It just happened."

Looking around, Danielle notices she's in some village near the sea. Various people with animal features were walking about.

"Are they…" said Danielle, only to be cut off by Caius.

"I want to know where you stand," said Caius, slowly disappearing from sight. "The first wave ought to tell me how to proceed from here."

"First wave?" said Danielle, no longer seeing Caius. "What is he talking about?"

Suddenly, the sky had turned a crimson color with blue energy swirls. Tons of monsters rained from the sky and started going after the people. Seeing one of the two headed dog monsters heading for her, Danielle erects a lens like barrier that the two headed dog monster clawed at. Danielle saw people dying left and right after being slaughtered by the monsters.

"What is this?" said Danielle, teary eyed before her barrier was pushed back and herself along with it by the two headed dog monster. "Aaah!"

Taking deep breaths, Danielle conjures multiple streams of waters. Slashing any monsters that got close to her. At times whenever she could, Danielle slashed some monsters away from the people only for other monsters from another distance to kill them in an instant. By the time the wave was done, Danielle was on her knees, breathing heavy with tears going down her cheeks and wanting to throw up.

"Looks like I have a lot to work with," said Caius, reappearing and staring at Danielle. "Get up. We have no time to dilly-dally."

"Please… let me recover from this," said Danielle, crying after the ordeal she just went though. "I don't feel so good right now."

"I really don't have time for this," said Caius, grabbing Danielle's wrist and pulling her up. "Get up! We have training to do."

"No! Lasciarsi andare!" shouted Danielle, pulling out of Caius's grip and running away.

Coming upon a gate Danielle goes though. Still running though whoever's sector it was, Danielle trips on a rock and plummets to the ground. Ori shows up after hearing Danielle crying inside the village he once called home.

"Danielle," said Ori, bending down and helping Danielle up. "Are you okay?"

"Wave… Caius…" said Danielle, clinging to Ori and crying still. "Too much death."

"It's okay, it's okay," said Ori, rubbing the back of Danielle's head before thinking. "We warned Caius not to put her though that yet and he still does it. I'm going to have to tell the others."

It was a while before Danielle had calmed down enough. Making sure Danielle was alright, Ori lead Danielle to a specific gate. Going through the gate, Ori and Danielle appear within a room decorated towards Danielle preferences. Seeing the custom size bed, Danielle slinks into it and grabs one of the toys close. Ori just watches over Danielle as she slowly falls asleep, rubbing the top of her head on occasions whenever she cries.
