Chapter 8: The Freak from above

Rudy completely opened his eyes as he heard his alarm go off to see it was morning and then sighed.

"Okay Rudy, you got this, you just need to make it to school, and have a completely, totally, ordinary Day."

He told himself while getting ready, Nessie stopped him before he walked out the door to show his Breath smelled like smoke and put on mouth spray, downstairs, Agatha was still on the computer looking at photos looking depressed, like she barely slept.

"Honey, you've gotta stop beating yourself up."

Arthur walked in with a waking up Jake and two cups of coffee.

"Oh Arthur, I can't believe I didn't tell him any of this sooner, what was I thinking?"

"You were thinking about protecting him, like you always have."

Rudy then slid down the stair rail, trying to make it to the door without them noticing.

"But, what if he drops out of School? I mean, what if he doesn't get a job and runs away like I did?"

She then gasped while thinking about it.

"What if he hates me, like I hate my Mom?!"

She said pulling Arthur in with his overalls.

"It's a slippery slope, Arthur!"

"Hate's a strong word, and Rudy loves you, he'll never run away."

He said comforting her, they then heard to door open and saw Rudy trying to get out, who then sighed.

"Huh, this doesn't help my case."

Arthur said as Agatha walked over.

"Rudy, hey, how are ya feeling? Did you sleep okay? Everything back to normal?"

"Yeah, mm-hmm, totally fine."

"Are you sure? You look a little flushed."

"Mom, I'm fine, really."

He said as Agatha raised an eyebrow and sniffed him.

"Rudy, is that smoke on your breath?"

"Smoke? What?! No, I gotta go."

"Good, Ok. Well, if you do wanna talk, I'll be right here, I just... I just really want you to know that you never have to hide things from me."

"Hm, like you?"

"What did you say, honey?"

"Nothing, bye Mom."

He said closing the door.

"Love you, make good choices."

The door was shut and Agatha then looked down, Rudy sighed while putting on his headphone's all the way to school, as he got there, it was heavily secured, mostly the library, Rudy tried to stay out of sight while overhearing everyone talking about transferring to new schools, defeating Godzilla, or say it's a bad time to do school.

"There you are!"

Rudy yipes as Margot completely came out of nowhere.

"Why'd you stop answering our texts last night? I was worried that monster got to you."

"I each carved us a whistle made out of juniper wood, blowing it can give you precious seconds to abscon with your lives."

Bliss said giving out whistles.

"Sick! Juniper wood has been known to have Dragon defeating powers."

Trevon said.

"What?! Dragon? What Dragon? Ev-Everyone knows that Dragons aren't real, so..."

"Behold, a plot twist."

Margot interrupted Rudy, playing a video of Captain flightdeck.

"Fifteen years ago, you all laughed at me."

Buckwheat them Baad in annoyance.

"Sorry, except you Bucky, you're right, you've always believed me, but now I finally have proof that Dragons exists."

He said playing a video of the events of yesterday.

"Alot of you have been asking about my beard regimen-"

He gasped.

"DRAGON!! DRAGON AHOY! IT'S BACK! OH IT'S COMING FOR ME! Bucky, get the picturephone!"

The video ended as he fell off the bus and Buckwheat ended the video.

"With your help, we can hunt down and drag this abomination of a Beast into the light, and finally reveal what it really is."

The Video ends with him laughing sinisterly as Rudy dropping his jaw to the ground.

"Heh, can't help but root for that guy."

Trevon said.

"A Great Darkness has fallen from the skies to claim us all!"

"And this time, she is not catastrophizing."

Margot backed up Bliss.

"I mean come on, this is wacky Gordon we're talking about, you can't take him seriously, he barely even has like, 10 subscribers."

"For now."

Trevon said.

"Huh?"

"Trevon is sharing it across all of his socials."

"His what?"

"What, you've never heard of my channel? A lot of people watch my gaming Livestreams."

"How many is a lot?"

"Eh, about 140..."

Rudy sighed in relief.

"...Thousand."

He said as Rudy nervously gasped.

"And... Video Posted. There, it's up there forever now."

He said posting it.

"Wait!"

Rudy then heard that same video alot, and looked around to see everyone reaching for the phones and reacting too it, he then saw group of girls with Kat seeing the video too.

"Wow, that old Viking dude was right, that thing is legit a monster, a real life monster."

She said making Rudy feel hurt and scared coming from his crush.

"Rudy? Cue Rudy?!"

Margot tried to get his attention but he was too busy hyperventilating.

"Bliss, get the smelling salt."

Rudy then looked at his friends and ran away to a safe spot.

"Hey! Where are you going? You forgot your Whistle!"

Margot yelled Rudy opened the doors, avoiding everyone watching the video making his way to the bathroom, he closed the door needed room to breathe, and then heard people coming, one of them he recognized.

"With the Dragon running lose, we need like the army."

Rudy looked in the side and saw Chester with a bunch of people.

"The monster could be lurking around any corner."

"Don't worry babe, if it shows, I'll fight it for you."

"Chester?!"

Rudy opened the door as he scared the one guy hiding behind a girl, what a wuss.

"Can I talk to you?"

"Ok, everyone out, private talk time, bye."

He said waving everyone out the door.

"So, what's up?"

"Chester, about last night, I'm sorry that I ran-"

"Oh, apologies are so corny, just skip to the part where you tell me everything."

"look I... you were here on land one day, and you already fit in, I've been here all of my life and I still feel like a freak."

He continued as Chester looked at him with sorrow.

"I just want to be Rudy Scaleman, normal teenager."

"Ah Boo! Where's the fun in that? Rudy, you're a Giant Dragon, don't you think you can aim a little bit higher than normal teenager?"

He pointed out making Rudy feel like if it's a good thing.

"Aww, my cute little floppy baby Reptile Boy."

He said playing around with Rudy's face.

"You know what you need?"

"Great Hair and Fairy Wings?"

"Hah! No, but it would help, what you need Rudy Scaleman is to see how great your life could be, you need... A Super Sky Guy Ditch Day!"

He said making Rudy like that is what he needs.

"Ok... let's do it!"

He said as Chester cheered, and grabbed Rudy's hand and opened the door, leaving the bathroom.

"Just 4 more days till prom, last evening of joy before entering the drudgery of adulthood."

The P.A. speakers said as the boys were leaving and the library raised her cup up at the speakers, we go to the boys diving in the sea of Clouds, T

turning into they're true forms and began their travel experience, Chester was enjoying himself while Rudy was still getting the hang of it, Chester was riding on Rudy's head as they entered a cavern of Glowing Butterflies, then saw mythical mountain goats hopping around from one peak to another, Rudy tried it out he was incredible, then he flung Chester high above out of the clouds and dove back in, Rudy did the same thing, hours later, it had become night time and Rudy felt so alive.

"This day's been amazing! I mean, Seven Continents, flying over the Seven Seas in 7 hours?"

He said laying on a Cloud next to Chester.

"And don't get me started about how wrong I got the Crystal Morphos in the Sky facts and Opinions. Sorry, am I geeking out to much?"

"No."

They quickly burst out laughing, Rudy looked up at Undiscovered Constellations and sighed.

"I still can't believe your Mom hid all of this from you."

"Hiding is Surviving, that's the Scaleman Family motto!"

"Eh, mottos are stupid, that's my motto, I hate hiding."

"But you're crushing it at school, everyone loves you, you really do have everything."

"No I don't."

He said as Rudy looked at him with a bit surprise.

"Ever since the Battle of the Axe, all us Fairies went into hiding, I couldn't take it anymore, I felt trapped so... I ran away, but when I ended up at Cloudside high, I was alone, no one could see the real me."

He said making Rudy feel down, cuz he knows that feeling.

"And then I found YOU! My Super Sky Guy Buddy! And now everything is right in the world."

"If it wasn't for this whole Fairy vs Dragon war, you and I could be this free all the time."

"Oh sure yeah, but I mean it's not like two Teens can fix history."

He said giving Rudy an idea.

"Or maybe we can."

"Hm?"

"What's the first rule of being a Math-lete?"

"Hmm, never talk about being a Math-lete?"

"No, we have to evaluate the problem, Chester come on, there must be some way to end this war, so you won't have to hide from the Dragons, and I won't have to become a Prophecy Warrior King of an Interspecies Vendetta!"

"Well... there is one way."

He said as Rudy was listening.

"Picture this!"

He started a montage played.

"Chester Van Der Zee Rudy Scaleman save the Skies by finding, the Axe of Jarnbjorn!"

"That giant blade my Grandmother's so obsessed with?"

"Yes, the Axe, stay with me, once we have the Axe, we can show that there doesn't have to be a war anymore, it can be... a symbol of peace!"

"Then my Grandmother wouldn't have to train me for battle, I can live in the Sky and on Land as the real me, no more Fighting."

"And the Fairies wouldn't have to live in fear anymore, no more Hiding."

"No Fighting."

"No Hiding."

"No Fighting!"

Rudy and Chester finished as they had a plan to make peace.
