Chapter 9: Rudy's Training
Back home, Agatha was on the phone while printing out a promotion for her business.
"I'm nervous about the Barbecue."
Said her Partner who was on the phone.
"Oh Carol, come on, no one knows what happened exactly to the library."
"Sam! No headphones at the table."
Arthur said in the Background getting headphones off Sam, while feeding Jake baby food.
"it's completely gone-"
"It could've been a gas leak, trust me Carol, your buyers are going to love Cloudside's Tranquility."
"Tranquility has turned to Terror here in Cloudside as more and more witnesses report having seen, the Giant Dragon."
A News Reporter said on Sam's phone, then Brill Barged in.
"Knock knock! Who's there? It's Uncle Brill, I'm already inside, ooh don't mind if I do."
He said grabbing a snack.
"Just one second, Carol."
She nervous laughed, putting her partner on hold and grabbed Brill by the shirt.
"What are you doing here?!"
"When I came back empty-handed, Mom hit the roof, I need a place to crash till she cools down, a few months, a couple years, a century tops."
He finished as Agatha gave him a look.
"Uh hon, uh this is isn't good."
Arthur interrupted while watching the news and Brill saw too.
"I'm here now with Captain Gordon Flightdeck, now Mr. Flightdeck, you've allegedly claimed to have seen-"
"THE FACE OF DEATH!!"
He interrupted.
"Allegedly."
The News Reporter claimed, as Flightdeck nodded to buckwheat and attacked.
"You out there! I need any able-bodied Man, Woman, or Child to help crew my Vessel, and capture the Dragon!"
Flight deck hogged the Camera as Brill Yipes.
"That guy's terrifying! And I live with a Warlord."
He whispered that last part.
"Aggie, he's got him on video."
Arthur said as Sam and Brill nodded.
"Agatha? Are you still there? What's going on?"
Agatha's partner was still on the phone.
"No, it's nothing, bring your buyers Saturday."
She hung up and then smirked at the Boys.
"Uh-oh, she's got that look."
Arthur pointed out.
"The one where she wants us to do something we don't wanna do."
Brill said hiding behind Arthur, the scene changes to Arthur, Brill, Sam, and Jake with Captain Flightdeck.
"I've been searching for Dragon me entire life, and it cost me dearly."
Buckwheat baad interrupting.
"Oh, yes, fine, I know, but if it wasn't for the Dragon, I wouldn't have bought the Boat, and if I didn't buy the Boat, I wouldn't have mortgaged my house, and if I didn't mortgage my house, Tammy wouldn't have left me."
"Heh, been there, are we still talking about Dragons?"
Brill whispered that last part not knowing what's going on.
"Gordon, if it's From the Sky, I'm your man."
Arthur pointed it out.
"And I can wield this baby, no problem."
Sam said pulling out a harpoon launcher, which Arthur took away and laughed.
"He knows this should be handled more by a responsible adult."
"Ooh, pointy."
Brill said taking it out of Arthur's hand.
"And who might you be!?"
Asked the Captain, Brill looked nervous.
"Name's Brill, born of the dirt, live in the dirt, will be buried in the dirt, don't like water!"
He said accidentally shooting a harpoon high in the air, Everyone backed away While Brill just stood there and then the Harpoon came down right on his head, Jake laughed cutely, The Captain Raised an Eyebrow.
"Ha ha, we call him Buckethead, he's not the brightest, but he can take a lot of punishment."
Arthur said putting a bucket on Brill's head.
"Impressive... You're Hired! Buckethead you're with me."
Flighdeck said as Buckwheat Baad with Jealousy.
"Don't be jelly, Bucky."
Meanwhile, Rudy and Chester arrive at what looked like a Volcano releasing light.
"Whoa, what is this place?"
Rudy asked.
"The Well of Airs, the source of all the Sky's energy, that's where you Mother hid the Axe of Jarnbjorn."
"She did? How do you know that?"
"Because she took it from my father, the Fairy King, and hid it in there, my Dad died trying to get it back."
"I am so sorry."
"It's not your fault, they were enemies."
Chester look up at the well and Rudy did too.
"How do we Get inside?"
"Each current has its own Power, its own Force, you'll have to fly through all of them to get to its center, only a Giant Dragon can survive it, it has to be you, Rudy."
He said as Rudy widened his eyes in Shock.
"Okay, it's just a Sky Volcano of Death, not a problem, so step 1: Evaluate the Problem."
He looked around and saw an old war plane, he picked up and through it to inside, but the current blew it in the opposite direction, the Boys saw it bouncing around like a pinball really fast and then it came towards them, but they dodged it, and Rudy picked up what was left of it.
"Okay, the problem is bad, it's very bad!"
He said as the thing faded away and the Boys look at each other in a shocking way.
"We might need some help."
Chester pointing it out, the scene changes to the Queen waving away a citizen, and Rudy flew in out of nowhere.
"Rudy, what a surprise!"
"Show me how to use my powers."
He said as the Queen gasped with joy.
"I thought you'd never asked."
She said as they entered an area to begin training.
"So what are we going to start with? Fire Breath?"
"First, if you're going to navigate your way through the skies, you must learn how to fly."
"Well you know my flying's pretty good, so I was thinking we could skip ahead and UNLEASH THE FIRE!!"
He said making noises as the Queen pressed a button and a wind current came in blew Rudy onto a wall, the Queen took Rudy's hand to show him.
"You must accept you Dragon-ness and leave your land self behind."
She said as Rudy let go and started to Fly through the wind and got the hang of it, the scene changes to the well as Rudy moved fast and slick, Chester cheered him on as he went inside the Well, dodging rocks in his way, Rudy spotted another current quickly flew over, he then started to go aerodynamic, as he flew in another one, but then he got hit in the face by a rock, being blown out of the well, landing on his face.
The next day, as Agatha left for work she saw a note from Rudy saying "Left early, be back late." the scene changes to Rudy's next part of training.
"A Dragon's greatest power is..."
"Fire- no, Atomic Blast!"
Rudy tried to guess.
"No, It's our strength, both inner and outer."
The Queen said as the scene changed to Rudy lifted alot of things, From Rusty anvils to old warcrafts to basically everything, even the Queen, who nodded with impressment, Next Rudy had to climb without using Wings, he had no idea how to until the Queen cleared her throat and revealed claws.
"Uhh... Heh, I knew that."
Rudy bluffed as he started climbing up, next part of Training was using his Horns, He started running towards a target and Bullseye! As he hit it out of the kingdom.
"Now you can say it."
The Queen said as Rudy gasped with excitement.
"Fire Breath!"
He said as the Queen blasted out a few shots.
"Now, Fire is another way of Fury, you must let out you're passionate Fury."
"Passionate Fury, ok, things that make me mad."
He said warming up while thinking.
"Like when my locker jams before class."
He shot out smoke.
"Good, now deeper."
"Like my friends ditching me for prom."
He then shot out a burst.
"Dig deeper."
"Like when my Mom..."
His eyes started to glow.
"...Lies..."
He eyes got even brighter.
"...TO MY FACE!"
His eyes turned white as he shot out an Atomic Blast, but it was outta control, going from one part of the room to another
"HOW DO SHUT IT OOOOOOOOOFFF...!?"
Meanwhile at Couldside high, everyone was setting up the Prom, and Cat approached Rudy's friends.
"Hey, have you guys seen Rudy?"
"No, not really."
Margot said as Cat walked away.
"Gasp! A Rose."
Before she notice a Flower and Card in Cat's bag, Margot then looked down about Rudy's strange disappearance, the scene changes to Agatha passing a Clothing store for Prom, she then saw a mother and Son picking out a Tuxedo, and then she felt bad for not letting Rudy go.
Speaking of, Rudy flew into the well again, this time dodging rocks, ramming them, or blasting them out of the way, as he got closer to it's center he started to feel hot and cold at the same, Either way, he screamed in pain, the scene changes to an alarm going off and Rudy blasting it, and went back to bed, next scene was Rudy dodging tiny hot and cold volcanoes, until he got hit.
"Rudy, I see in you a heart as big as the ocean, honey, a quick skin is a King's ultimate defense, body armor."
Said the Queen as her hand got armored up.
"Whoa, that's almost cooler than Atomic Blast."
"Almost."
She said blow on her hand, Rudy then looked his, the last part of the training was this.
"Say, can Dragons also Roar?"
"Why yes, actually."
She said as Rudy looked like he was getting ready to.
"But with someone at your age, I don't you can until-"
She was Interrupted by the sound of a Mighty Powerful Roar quaking the Whole Room, heck Even the Whole Kingdom, and Rudy then stopped.
"How was that?"
He asked as the Queen looked Speechless.
"Like a true King."
"Yes!"
Rudy fist pumped, the scene changes to Rudy walking down Couldside high hallway, he then saw a few people watching the Dragon video, and did small pea shots to stop them without them noticing, Chester approached him and the two walked out the doors where Rudy's friends were.
"Rudy, there you are, we've been looking all over for you."
Margot said and Rudy didn't pay attention for he was chatting with Chester.
"Well so much for Squad Solidarity."
She said looking disappointed, the scene changed to the well and Rudy blasted rocks away and dodging them, as Rudy got closer he went into his body armor and made it to the center, where he spotted the axe.
The wind force was crazy, but Rudy didn't give up, he flew in harder he opened his arms and reach for the core, as he tried to get there, he started to flashback all things about him being a Dragon, From feeling like a freak and staying out of the Clouds, he then stopped as he was blown away out of the well crash landing hard, he then got up and shook his head, Chester look at him curiously.
"So, did you get it?"
"I was so close, I could see it."
"So how did your Mom make it through?"
"I don't know, but I think I gonna have to do something I never thought I'd do."
"And what's that?"
"Ask my Mom for advice."
