(A few minutes later...)
Mina was watching as Jin's mother used leaves as bandages and other types of herbs to make an ointment for her daughter. After a few minutes, Jin had her head bandaged. This reminded Mina of a couple of previous injuries, even more so when Jin's mother told her:
"I hope, my daughter, that you do not leave me again without permission. You're still a little girl, you have to respect the rules, and because of this injury, you shouldn't play for a while."
"Oh mom, please!" Jin argued, getting upset, "You know I want to play with my friends, but you don't let me go too far from you…"
Saying this, she ran away. Mina felt her heart flutter: she imagined the same situation with her own mother. While she was thinking about that, Jin's mother put a hand on her shoulder.
"You are a chosen girl, aren't you?" she asked her, "Thank you for saving my daughter. I imagine you understand her attitude, don't you?"
"She just wants to have fun with her friends" Mina responded, "The same thing happened to me with my mom: she didn't want it to be because she was simply hurt due to previous games... that made me upset..."
"It's understandable. But you have to see your mom's point of view: have you ever wondered why she protects you like that? That's because, for a mother, the safety of her son or daughter is paramount. Your mother surely just wants you to take care of yourself, she is not making you a prisoner..."
Those words fell like ice water into Mina's heart. For a moment, she felt regretful about the arguments with her mother. But she didn't have time to feel that way: a bang was heard at the same time as a tremor. Instantly, Mrs. Nidoqueen shouted:
"Jin!"
Both ran towards the scene of the accident, where several Nidoking were fighting hand-to-hand against an enemy twice their size, which in turn had incredible robustness and strength to resist the powerful Hyper Beam of several at once. His arms had a shape similar to that of a hammer and a tail similar to that of an ankylosaur. A horn-drill was located in his nose. But, instead of brown scales, it had white ones for a normal Rhyperior: it was a Hybrid Rhyperior.
"Hahaha!" he exclaimed as he laughed at the attackers' failed attempts, "You're trash! "Earthquake!"
With a stomp on the ground, he made it rise and moved like a wave that knocked down several Nidoking along the way. Luckily, some managed to hold on.
"Rock Smash!" one of them attacked from behind.
A sound similar to hitting a stone against a steel wall was heard: the blow had been totally useless because of those scales. Seeing him, the enemy lifted him by the arm and threw them into the air.
"Stone Edge!" he attacked him.
With a rain of sharp rocks, the Nidoking was hit while still in the air and fell heavily to the ground.
"Dad!" Jin's voice was heard. This she was running in the direction of her downed father.
"Jin! Dear!" her mother shouted. Mina also went to assist him while the remaining Nidokings were still holding off the enemy.
Mina helped Mrs. Nidoqueen lift the Nidoking, at the same time that the Hybrid knocked down the few Pokémon that still resisted, and its next target was the chosen girl.
"I was sent for you, chosen girl" said the Hybrid, "Okay, now give me that medallion you're wearing…"
"Madam," Mina said to Jin's mother, "Take your husband and daughter to a safe place, I will stop him"
"No!" Jin shouted, "I want to help you! We can't leave you."
"Jin… honey, no," her mother told her, pulling her out of the way. Reluctantly, she managed to take her husband and daughter to a safe distance.
Meanwhile, the enemy Rhyperior suddenly attacked Mina with a Focus Punch, the pain was the same as crashing the human body into a rock wall. The chosen one, however, managed to stay standing (despite the bruise from the blow) with one paw and counterattacked with an Earthquake.
However, this did not faze the enemy and they counterattacked.
"Stone Edge!"
Mina covered herself with her hands, but this was ineffective: when her hands were hurt enough, they lowered themselves and the girl received the blow. Exhausted, she fell to the ground. When she did, she curiously could see the grass ball next to her.
"Stomp!"
The Rhyperior Hybrid then proceeded to crush her with its strong footsteps, and Mina was unable to move. In the distance, she heard Jin's voice struggling to get out of her mother's protective arms to go help her friend.
"No Jin, it is too dangerous!" her mother told her, "Don't go!"
"She is my friend!" Jin shouted, "Why can't you understand me!?"
Instantly, Mina's heart pounded as she heard the same expression she had used with her mother that day. So… her mother really just wanted to protect her because she cared about her...she regretted then that she hadn't seen before that her mother's feeling for her was really one of...love.
Suddenly, the ball of grass next to her dissolved into a small explosion of light, revealing the key she was looking for.
"This will be mine!" the Hybrid shouted, lunging for it.
But this object rejected the hybrid like a stone by a train. The key knocked him to one side, and headed towards Mina, who stood up to notice that the symbol on her chest appeared and merged with the key, and then entered the Pokephone. Jin and her parents were equally shocked.
"Argh!" the Hybrid shouted, standing up, "I have orders to take that from you!"
For a moment, the enemy saw Jin's family and had the evil idea of using them as a trade, so he ran towards them.
"Jin!" Mina shouted when she saw him. Then, she stood in the middle and held her Pokephone, "Time to Mega Evolve!"
Instantly, the Pokephone and the medallion glowed, triggering a new evolution.
"Nidoqueen evolves into… Mega Nidoqueen!"
Her body became lighter, but at the same time resistant, and claws grew on her hands. Finally, a light-blue crown appeared on her head.
Jin and her mother saw her friend covered by the glow of the mega evolution while the Hybrid had to almost cover himself because the glow half blinded him.
"Thank you," Mina said to the family, "You have made me see that I was wrong with my mother's love, thank you for showing me yours"
"Miss Mina… you look great" Jin said, mouth agape.
"Oh! Well.. Thank you"
"Have you stopped with your corny nonsense?" roared the Hybrid, "Stone Edge!"
Mina did nothing but position herself as a shield, without raising her claws. The stones fell on her, but they shattered like simple glass against an iron wall. Her defenses were now superior.
"Then try this… Hyper Beam!" she attacked again.
But Mina countered with something similar to a Focus Punch, but it had light purple.
"Poison Impact!"
The blow passed through the Hyper Beam and she hit him twice as hard as the blow he had dealt her earlier. As a side effect, the enemy felt as if a poisonous sting had pierced his thick skin.
"It's impossible…" he said in pain, "It can't be that she broke through my defense…"
"Now get out and leave these families alone!" Mina yelled at him.
"I'm not going to obey a girl's orders!" he roared, spinning that drill that he had for a nose, "Horn Drill!"
The enemy launched himself with the intention of kill, but Mina put her clawed hands together, launched herself and began to spin in the air while she exclaimed:
"Mega Drill!"
Both attacks collided, causing sparks to fly for an instant. But then, the Mega Drill destroyed Rhyperior's horn and fatally impacted the enemy. After falling defeated, the unstable composition of his body became present and, suddenly, he exploded without leaving any traces afterwards.
Mina then sat on the ground for a moment and returned to her Ultra form.
"Mrs. Mina!" Jin shouted happily as he lunged into a hug with her. Near them, her parents looked at their daughter and her friend with the same happiness.
(Later...)
Mina had to go, much to Jin's bad luck, however...
"Don't worry, I'm sure we'll see each other again one day," she said to encourage her, "Be good to your parents, okay?"
"Yes," she replied.
"And I hope you have fun with your friends," her mother said behind her, to her surprise, "I think I was too protective, and I think you deserve at least a little freedom."
"Oh really? Thanks Mom"
With that last scene, Mina said goodbye to the family from which, despite not being her own, she learned the reason for parental protection: the feeling of love.
