My name is Amanda Calline, age 16

I'm a Pokémon trainer who had recently moved to the recently discovered Chromana region, one of the world's newest (and possibly largest) Pokémon regions ever discovered.

Not that I'm very excited about it. AT ALL.

"Amanda! Come downstairs!"

"UGH! DAD, I'M BUSY! JUST GIVE ME A FEW MINUTES!" Amanda yelled. "Don't you a few more minutes me, young lady, your mother and I might have finalized the divorce, but don't think that's an excuse for you to act up!" Amanda's dad yelled out.

"Alright fine, dad! SHEESH!" Amanda yelled before slamming her journal and headed downstairs to see her dad unpacking a couple of boxes. "Dad, why did you and mom have to have that stupid divorce?! It's ridiculous!" Amand complained.

"Amanda, we already discussed this, your mother was a nothing more than a bimbo who was only in it for the money, plus, she never even payed a lot of attention to you, sweetie, besides, I don't think she also enjoyed having your Cyndaquil around the house," Amanda's dad explained, before Cyndaquil popped out of one of the boxes and rushed over to Amanda, who seemed to be a bit depressed.

"Amanda, look at me," Her dad instructed. "You need to listen, that woman might've been your mother, but if she can't even treat you like a mother should, then she has no right to be apart of this family, I understand this whole situation is hard for you, sweetie, but just remember this, a family member isn't just those who are your relatives, family are meant to support eachother, just remember that when you get upset about this, alright?" He explained.

Amanda nodded, feeling a little more eased up. "Good, now, why don't you and Cyndaquil go out and get some fresh air? You need it after being in that plane for so long, plus, I heard there's a Pokémon lab not too far from here, why not go check it out?" Her dad suggested.

"Sure, dad!" Amanda replied, her eyes sparkling with excitement before gesturing for Cyndaquil to rush over to her, which it promptly did as it leapt onto her head.

"Alright, dad! I'm off!" Amanda yelled. "Bye, Amanda! Don't wander off too far!" Her dad yelled out.

As Amanda explored the neighborhood of her new hometown, Mindlie Town, she could already feel her boredom kicking in. "Hm, this neighborhood's oddly quiet, minus the occasional noise of bikes and kids play—WOAH!"

Amanda was interrupted by a loud rumbling noise, nearly knocking her over. She instinctively grabbed onto Cyndaquil, who was shivering in terror by the sudden rumbling.

"What…was that?" Amanda asked herself as she, despite her dad's specific order, decided to go and see what made that rumbling noises, and to also make sure no one was hurt.

A few minutes later…

Amanda eventually found herself exploring a cave somewhere in the woods not too far from Mindlie when Cyndaquil leapt off her shoulder.

"Hey! Don't try to run off, Cyndaquil! This cave seems like it goes pretty deep, and I wouldn't want you running off and getting lost," Amanda warned before pulling out her flashlight. Cyndaquil nodded before it and Amanda trudged on into the cave.

Amanda felt herself getting more and more nervous as she and Cyndaquil ventured deeper and deeper into the cave when a voice called out, "Hey! What are you doing here?!"

"EEEK!" Amanda screamed as she turned and trembled and pointed her flashlight in the opposite direction, noticing a large shadow of someone. "WH-WHO ARE YOU?! STAY BACK!" Amanda yelled out as the shadow began to get closer to her.

In that moment, Amanda panicked and yelled out, "CYNDAQUIL! FLAMETHROWER!" Prompting Cyndaquil to blast the shadow with a flamethrower attack in self defense.

A loud scream roared through the cave as Cyndaquil stopped with the flamethrower as Amanda approached the person. "Whoever you are, if you're planning on harming me, then considering what Cyndaquil did as a warning to keep your distance!" The girl yelled out.

"WAIT! DON'T BLAST ME WITH ANOTHER FLAMETHROWER!" A voice yelled out as Amanda pointed her flashlight at the person, revealing a fairly tall young man with long blond hair and dark blue eyes wearing a short-sleeved lab coat, now covered in soot from Cyndaquil's flamethrower.

"Sheesh, what's the big idea, kid?! I was going to ask you if you were alright," The man explained, getting up and shaking the soot off himself. Amanda's eyes widened as she processed the embarrassment that she was feeling for panicking over someone seeing if she was okay. "O-Oh, heh, geez, sorry about that…" Amanda said, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly as she walked over to the man.

"It's fine, but if saves us the embarrassment, my name is Beiko Hikawa, I'm the Pokémon expert of the Chromana region," Hikawa explained. "Pokemon…expert? You look—"

"A little young to be a Pokemon expert? I know, I hear that a LOT, and they aren't wrong, because well, I'll be honest…I'm only 19," Hikawa explained, sounding a little annoyed by the reminder that he was still technically in his late teen years, despite being a Pokémon professor.

"Oh, I see, I'm Amanda Calline, I just moved here recently with my dad, I was just here to see what made that loud rumbling earlier, Mr—"

"Actually, Amanda, before you call me Mr, I should probably inform you that I go by they/them pronouns, sorry for any confusion," Hikawa explained. "Eh, save your breath, Hikawa, everyone makes mistakes, but I will admit that being misgendered can be pretty annoying (And I know from experience…)," Amanda replied, muttering the last part under her breath.

"Pardon?" Hikawa asked. "Nothing, now why are you here?" Amanda asked. "Well, I was on my way to see what made that loud rumbling noise, it scared the living daylights out of me," Hikawa explained.

"Same here, how about we explore together?" Amanda suggested. "Good idea, let's go!" Hikawa said as they got up and headed off. "HEY, WAIT UP!" Amanda yelled before she and Cyndaquil dashed after Hikawa.

A few minutes later…

"Careful, Amanda, this part of the cave seems pretty much pitch black," Hikawa said. "I think I should be telling YOU that since you almost ran off without me," Amanda said flatly. "Aw come on, Amanda! I got excited, okay!?" Hikawa replied.

The duo kept walking in silence for a while before finally, Hikawa could see something glowing in a cyan-like aura. "What the heck is that…?" Amanda asked before Cyndaquil, intrigued, made a mad dash towards the source of the auras. "WHA—CYNDAQUIL, GET YOUR TAIL BACK HERE!" Amanda called out before hurrying to catch up to her Pokemon. "Wait for me!" Hikawa yelled as they hurried to keep up with Amanda.

Suddenly, a couple of Pokémon flew near Amanda, making her let out a loud, "KYAAA!" as she ducked down out of fear. "Calm down, Amanda! It's just a couple of Zubats!" Hikawa yelled.

"Oh…right…Zubats…" Amanda said as she breathed a sigh of relief before she could hear her Cyndaquil call out to her. "I'M COMING, CYNDAQUIL!" Amanda yelled before she made a mad dash to catch up to Cyndaquil.

After a good few minutes of running, Amanda spotted Cyndaquil staring at something making a cyan-like aura. "What the heck is that…?" Amanda wondered as she trudged over to the source of the aura, and, upon further inspection, saw 5 cyan-colored pokeballs.

"What…is that?" Hikawa asked as they and Amanda cautiously walked toward the oddly colored pokeballs.

"Dang, looks like we weren't the only one who decided to investigate the crash site," A voice called out. "Hm?" Amanda and Hikawa both turned and spotted two other teenagers.

The first teenager had slightly tanner skin, blue hair and was holding a camera, the second was a paler teen with brown hair and wore a paleontologist outfit.

"Who…are you two?" Amanda asked, her Cyndaquil growling as if the two teens were about to attack. "Name's Hikaru Nishikawa, I'm a Pokémon photographer and part-time barista," Hikaru explained. "And I'm Hikari Noriwa, I'm a Pokémon paleontologist, my uncle sent me here on an assignment to investigate the source of the rumbling from earlier," Hikari explained before pulling out a pokeball and tossed it, revealing a dinosaur-like Pokémon that looked like a triceratops.

"This is Ceratop, my Pokémon assistant," Hikari explained. "I see, my name's Amanda Calline, and this is Cyndaquil, he's a fire type Pokémon from Jhoto. Nice to meet you and Hikaru, Hikari," Amanda explained.

"Looks like we had the same idea," Another voice called out. "WE? You mean YOU had the same idea?" Another voice called out. All heads whipped over to see two more teenagers.

The first teen was a handsome boy with short honey-brown hair and wore a short-sleeved police uniform, and the second teen was a boy who also had slightly messier brown hair that was half-shaved and wore a school blazor shirt, and also looked far less enthusiastic about being in a cave.

"PLEASE! Take me to jail! THIS PLACE IS SO MUCH MORE BORING!" The messy brown-haired teen complained, hanging his head low like a child. "And you two are?" Amanda asked.

"Officer Hiro Kentaro here, but just call me Hiro, I'm a Pokémon police officer in training," Hiro explained. "And the other dude?" Hikawa asked.

"Oh right…" Hiro replied, sounding less than enthusiastic about the other guy. "The punk, forgot all about him," He added. "Okay, don't have a need to be harsh about it, goody-two sides, anywho, name's Kenjo Kirohigaro, certified motorcyclist and this region's next big vigilante," Kenjo said in a snarky tone.

"Vigilante?" Amanda asked. "That's what he CLAIMS himself to be, caught him taking illegal U-turns in Keivale town, so I rounded him up quickly," Hiro explained. "I DIDN'T DO SMACK, OFFICER BOY, I WAS JUST TRYING TO CATCH THOSE STUPID THIEVES WHO NEARLY SWIPED MY SISTER'S KRYLEREON," Kenjo yelled. "Well, you should've informed the authorities and not TAKE A U-TURN WHERE THERE WASN'T A U-TURN SIGN!" Hiro called out.

Kenjo growled before yelling, "FORGET THAT! AND FORGET YOU LOT!" before running over toward the pokeballs and taking one of them. "And I'll be taking one of these as a compensation gift!" The punk called out before taking off.

"WHY YOU LITTLE—" Hiro began before taking a moment to calm himself before turning to the others. "You three!" The junior police officer began. "Let's take one pokeball each, then once we're out of this cave (And I catch that brat Kenjo…), we'll try to figure out what happened," Hiro explained before running over to the remaining pokeballs and grabbed one of them, and hurried off.

"You heard the officer, let's go!" Hikaru said before grabbing one of the pokeballs and dashing off along with Hikari, leaving only one pokeball left.

Sighing, Amanda picked up the remaining pokeball and turned to Hikawa, and both nodded in agreement before Amanda turned to Cyndaquil and said, "Grab onto my shoulder and hang on tight,"

"Cynda!" Cyndaquil nodded and jumped onto Amanda's shoulder before Amanda and Hikawa took off after Kenjo.

Meanwhile…

"HA HA HAAA! YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME ALIVE, COPPER!" Kenjo yelled out before pulling out a pokeball. "SKYBELL, COME ON!" The punk yelled out as he threw the pokeball, coming out of said pokeball was a blue and pink swan-like Pokemon as it cried out, "SKYIAA!"

"Oh, so that's how he wants to play it? Well, it takes two to tango," Hiro whispered to himself as he pulled out a pokeball and yelled out, "LET'S GO, GYRIAR!" Before tossing the pokeball.

Out of it appeared a grey-colored wolf-like Pokemon as it let out a loud, "GYRIII!"

"SKYBELL, QUICK ATTACK!" Kenjo called out.

"GYRIAR, LIGHTNING STEALTH!" Hiro called out.

Skybell charged towards Gyriar in an attempt to smash into it, but Gyriar, using it's move Lightning Stealth, managed to dodge it at the last second before charging at it itself and slamming into it and zapping it.

"SKYBELL, RETURN TO ME!" Kenjo commanded as Skybell rushed back to its trainer. "STOP IN THE NAME OF THE LAW, PUNK!" Hiro called out. "I AIN'T STOPPIN' FOR SMACK!" Kenjo yelled back before racing out of the cave with everyone else following behind him.

"GEEZ, HOW FAST IS THIS KID?!" Amanda asked. "Pretty fast, but let's see if his reaction skills are as good as his speed," Hiro began. "GYRIAR, USE FASTLAP!" Hiro commanded.

Gyriar nodded before building up its speed before making a mad dash towards Kenjo.

"You might be strong in the speed department, Gyriar, but let's see if your traucer skills are just as effective!" Kenjo yelled before running over to a couple of fallen trees and began to jump, duck, and maneuver around the trees without breaking a sweat.

Hiro, on the other hand, was struggling to even climb over a fallen tree. "UGH, MY PARKOUR SKILLS SUCK!" Hiro yelled out in frustration as he tried to leap over the fallen tree.

"Follow me! I know a path that intersects with the one Kenjo went on, if we hurry, we can beat him to the intersection!" Hikawa said. "Got it!" Hiro said.

"EVERYONE, COME ON!" Amanda yelled before everyone took off.

"Heh, looks like we finally lost them!" Kenjo smiled in triumph as he turned to laugh before suddenly…

SMASH!

"AUGH!"

Kenjo's body went limp as he fell and landed back-first onto the ground. "Owwww, my back…and my face for that matter…" Kenjo muttered in annoyance before he saw a shadow looming over him and went pale when he could see the shadow was Hiro and the other trainers.

"What's the matter? Didn't tree that coming?" Hiro asked arrogantly. Kenjo growled furiously, moreover at the horrible pun than the fact that Hiro had caught up to him.

Skybell instinctively growled in attempt to intimidate Hiro and the others.

Kenjo trembled with anger, balling his hands into fists as he said, "I MIGHT'VE NOT SEEN THAT TREE…" He began. "…BUT LET'S SEE YOU CATCH THIS SUCKER PUNCH!" Kenjo finished before sending a knuckle sandwich right towards Hiro, knocking the officer down.

"OKAY, THAT'S ANOTHER CHARGE FOR YOU, PUNK!" Hiro yelled as he got up and immediately lunged for Kenjo.

"BOTH OF YOU, STOP!" Amanda yelled, trying to calm down the two, only for Hiro to headbutt her along with Kenjo instead, sending the three's pokeballs flying as the pokeballs smacked into a tree and started to open, emitting a powerful glow from the pokeballs.

"UGH—LET ME AT 'HIM!"

"CALM DOWN, YOU!"

"YEAH! LISTEN TO THE GREEN-HAIRED KID, OFFICER BOY!"

"GUYS! LOOK!" Hikaru yelled pointing at the glowing light.

Immediately, Amanda, Kenjo, and Hiro panicked and checked their belts for their cyan pokeballs, and to their horror, they weren't there.

Panicked, Hikari and Hikaru both tossed out their cyan pokeballs as well, that of which emitted the same powerful glow as well.

"G-G-Guys…something tells me th-that those pokeballs weren't any ordinary pokeballs…" Hikari muttered. "NO SMACK, SHE-LOOKER!" Kenjo yelled, though his tone sounded scared.

"H-HOLY SHINX! EVERYONE, STAND BACK!" Hikawa called out.

Everyone nodded and immediately backed up in fear.

When the glowing lights cleared, what remained of those lights were 5 tall humanoid-like…whatever those things were.

Suddenly, one of them, the one with orange and red-hair and wore a male performer outfit approached Amanda's group, eyes, or whatever those blue-colored things were, locked onto Amanda in particular with a look that Amanda silently PRAYED was not a look of malice as she braced herself for whatever that thing might throw or strike at her with.

To be continued…
