What if . . . Mrs. Gardiner's Lambton relations had been a little more well-to-do and what if she had stronger and longer ties to them and to Derbyshire? In this variation Elizabeth begins to spend summers with the Gardiners in Derbyshire at a fairly young age. As a result she develops her own ties to that part of the world and its people, including the Darcy's of Pemberley.

What if Lydia Bennet was closer to Elizabeth, admiring and trusting her second eldest sister. How would life at Longbourn be with Lydia thinking a lot more about her actions. We all love ye-olde compromise trope, even though we all suspect the whole scheme is full of logical holes and probably not really a thing.
