A new story? Now of all times when I barely update as it is? Meh we'll see how it goes. Whether this makes me write more or not idk as I've deleted 3 stories already and haven't updated a few others in almost, if not a whole year. Anyways, we'll see what happens.
I've had this idea for a while as I used to like RWBY a lot especially in the earlier days up until partway through season 5 or so when I stopped. Wanted to take a shot at making a RWBY story considering some of my favourite fan fics are RWBY ones. I also just started watching that RWBY anime on Crunchyroll so I'm gonna see if I can mix in some of the anime stuff and the original series. Basically this is going to follow an OC through the main story his name is:
Wynn Pax (roughly translates to White Peace in a mix of Welsh and Latin)
Height: 5'9
Gender: Male
Age: 18 (started one year later)
Voice: think of it as Joe Zieja. He's voiced English dub Achilles in fate, Claude in fire emblem and a few others.
Appearance: Short Black hair (Styled like Stephen Amell in Arrow when it's not super short/buzz cut), black eyes and a lighter skin tone but not completely pale. Wears black cargo pants with lots of slots and pockets, black combat boots, dark gray utility belt, black tactical gloves with hardened knuckles, black long sleeved shirt with black pads on elbows, chest, back, wrists, back of hands, and abdomen. With pads on his knees. A black half mask used to cover half his face which is attached to his shirt (like kakashi from Naruto), a custom silver-ish white M1911 with an almost yellow looking grip that has a silver almost floral like design on said grip in a holster on his right hip and a small katana tanto strapped to his lower back horizontally with hilt facing his left, with a similar design to his gun. The katana tanto being a weapon which he can chamber dust into the hilt and add elemental effects to it.
Semblance: To be seen
So I guess we'll get started now.

Beacon academy was a place Wynn never thought he'd make it to. But here he was on an air ship en route to the illustrious castle like school on the horizon. It certainly was a bit surreal. Although the mood was more or less broken by an incessant amount of groaning and stomach gurgling from the blond guy a few feet away from where he was seated. He kept walking around asking for something to deal with his motion sickness but everyone was ignoring him.
'Motion sickness eh? I guess I could help him out a bit' Wynn thought to himself as he grabbed his small gym bag he was using as a carry on and rummaged through it before pulling out a small box of pills. The box read 'Gravol'.
With a short sigh he rose from his seat and approached the hunched over teen "Hey. Got some stuff for motion sickness if you want it"
"Ughhh… huh?" The blond teen struggled.
Wynn opened the box up and took a pill from it "Just take one of these and it should take effect in a few minutes. Does make you a bit drowsy though"
The guy slowly reached out and took the pill before swallowing it with some water he had "Thank… you…"
"No problem. Just take it easy and use your forearm almost like a heating pad, sit down and lean back a bit" Wynn waved slightly "see ya".
With that he went back to his spot and grabbed his bag before stepping over to one of the windows that wasn't occupied by a group of people. He slung his bag over his shoulder and looked outside. You could see the water glistening just past the city limits as the sun shined down. It truly was a magnificent view that anyone would love to see. Although his mind was occupied as he looked out.
'I wonder what mom and dad are thinking right now. Dad is probably all right and mom is probably fretting over every detail while dad is trying to keep her calm so she doesn't go crazy'
His thoughts were interrupted when he noticed two people approaching him from the slight reflection in the glass. It was two women. One of them had long blond hair with purple eyes and was wearing a brown jacket that showed off her midriff and short puffy sleeves. A yellow tank top with a burning heart emblem in black. She also wore black compression shorts with a brown belt, brown boots and orange knee high socks, topped off with an orange scarf.
"Hey there!" She called out in a friendly tone causing Wynn to turn around. "You got a minute?"
"Sure… did you need something?"
"Nothing in particular" she shrugged "I'm Yang and this is my sister Ruby" she pointed to the girl next to her while giving her a one armed hug.
The other girl was shorter in height while also having shorter hair which was black with red highlights. She wore a black long-sleeved blouse with a high collar and red trim on the sleeves, over which is a black waist cincher with red lacing up the front, and a matching skirt with red lining. A red cape with a hood over her shoulders and had black leggings on with black and red boots. Surprising the most prominent feature were her eyes which were silver.
"What's your name?" Yang asked.
"Wynn"
"Well nice to meet you Wynn! Isn't the weather nice out today?"
'Ah the joys of small talk' Wynn smirked slightly from underneath his mask. "Sure is nice out yeah".
"Glad someone agrees then" she smiled "come on Ruby say something" she nudged her sister.
"Uh… hi there! Names Ruby!" She said meekly yet lout at the same time.
"So I've heard" Wynn chuckled a bit as the words she spoke set in.
"Come on sis you can do better than that" Yang spoke in more of a hushed tone.
"I can't make friends with strangers as easily as you" she replied back in a hushed tone.
"Don't worry about it" Wynn waved off "starting conversations is pretty hard" 'considering the fact I get nervous around people until I hold a conversation with them at least once'.
"Well I'm glad someone agrees" Ruby huffed a bit.
"So… I'm guessing you guys are excited?" Wynn tried to keep the conversation going.
"I know I am!" Yang then started to give her sister a noogie "but this one doubts herself"
"Yang!"
"It's normal don't worry about it. It still feels weird to be here myself so we got something in common"
"Now you two have something in common" Yang beamed to her sister "good job".
Ruby blushed a bit before slowly asking "what made you want to come to beacon?"
"Hmm… it'd probably have to be… insuring the next generation has a good life and not experience Grimm as much as possible. Plus it's fun to fight sometimes I guess".
"I personally like a good scrap from time to time" Yang grinned "maybe we can go a round some time?" She winked.
"If you mean a fight then maybe" Wynn shrugged.
"Ooo! What kind of weapon do you use?" Ruby then seemed way more excited.
"Nothing special really" Wynn shrugged and unsheathed his tanto and pulled out his custom M1911. "They're both outfitted to use dust".
"Whoa the gun looks so cool! And the blade is so clean! Are they custom made!?" Ruby looked at it in a childlike wonder.
"Yup. Cost me a real pretty penny too"
"Why not just have a gun sword though?"
"I prefer to fight with my fists and only use either of these when I need some cutting power or means of attacking from a distance"
"A fellow brawler eh?" Yang grinned "I can respect that".
Before the conversation could continue. A hologram of a blond woman with green eyes wearing a white long-sleeved pleated top that has a wide keyhole neckline and gauntlet cuffs that flare in pleats at the wrist. Her lower body is covered by a black high-waisted pencil skirt with bronze buttons and black fading into brown stockings with black boots.
"Hello. And welcome to beacon" the hologram spoke.
"Who's that?" Yang asked.
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch"
"Oh"
'And cue the heroic speech of welcoming future heroes' Wynn mentally sighed as he drowned out her speech about being accepted into a prestigious academy. 'Ruby and Yang seem entrapped by the speech. I'll just leave them to bond over this experience or something'. Wynn finished his thought as Ruby and Yang were staring outside and talking about something related to Signal which he knew was a combat school.
He could feel the slow descent of the air craft on to one of the pads and the eventual docking. Slowly but surely the large door opened to reveal the courtyard of Beacon. And his breath was almost taken away by the sight of the school up close. Cobbled walkways were all throughout a massive courtyard with immaculate grass and flowers. Perfectly trimmed trees, bushes and nice looking light posts doted the area. A large fountain was in the middle of the courtyard with streams running throughout the courtyard. The castle itself looked like something straight out of a medieval story with its many stone towers. Other students seemed to share in the wonder as crowds of people exited the airship and onto the school grounds.
'How in the hell is this a school? Way too darn nice'. Not wanting to block the airship exit, Wynn started to walk towards the main door and pull out his scroll. 'It says to meet up in the main hall where we hear a brief speech by the headmaster then we get put into some other room where we have a giant slumber party… fantastic'
Within a few minutes, Wynn was already at the large front doors that looked like it could fit an above thirty foot tall giant in it. The doors were already open and a multitude of students were already within. Even though he was one of the first ones off the airship, the room was practically completely filled with even more people entering.
'It is way too loud in here already' Wynn made his way to a more isolated corner in the room not too far from the door. There was only a few students in this corner so it was a good enough place for him. He took a spot leaning on the wall with his arms crossed. There was a girl a few feet to his left leaning against the wall with her hands behind her back.
She had a long red hair that was in a ponytail with a bronze circlet. She wore a brown corset with a light brown stripe going down the middle. She also wore an elastic, black, A-line mini skirt and brown opera-length gloves on both arms. She wore a red ankle-length sash that wrapped around her skirt and had bronze high hell grieves that completely covered her legs with some bronze armour on her wrists and hips. Altogether, she fit the image of a 'Spartan' bar the helmet and chest plate. As she also had a shield on her back with what looked to be a sword as well. Emerald eyes met black for a brief moment as she smiled and gave a friendly wave.
Wynn responded in kind with a quick wave and a nod. The two didn't exchange any pleasantries as the girl seemed to want to stick to herself at the moment and Wynn was alright with that. So he pulled out his scroll and started playing a mobile game to pass the time. It was one of those games where you summoned units and did 3v3 battles for the most part. Summoning heroic spirits from another world's history was a neat aspect to the game.
He saw the familiar face of Yang within the crowd of people with Ruby after a short while as she also entered the building, way later than most, along with the blond haired guy that had motion sickness on the airship. He didn't pay the guy much mind beforehand. But he was tall if not a tad scrawny and was wearing a short black sleeved hoodie with detached orange sleeves. Armour on the chest and shoulders. A pair of jeans with a white patch placed on the left knee and black sneakers.
The two split off as Yang called out to her sister. The two only spoke for a brief moment as a white haired girl came in and started arguing with them.
Soon enough, a ringing noise was heard as a microphone turned on. A few taps were made on the mic as everyone in the room turned to the speaker. It was a man accompanied by Glynda Goodwitch who was off to the side.
The man cleared his throat before speaking "I'll keep this brief". The man with white hair, gold eyes and an expensive dark green suit, light green scarf and black trousers. He was holding a cane, the handle is embellished with a floral pattern and features a large knuckle guard that reaches down the bottom of the handle. "You have traveled here today in search of knowledge, to hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy, in need of purpose and direction. You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this school will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step".
'Harsh speech but reasonable. This is something we have to take seriously in the long run'
Glynda then approached the microphone "You will gather in the ballroom tonight. Tomorrow your initiation begins. Be ready. You are dismissed". The crowd murmured for a few minutes before slowly dispersing.

The next day
'Yesterday was a looooong day' Wynn stretched with a quiet yawn. The night was hardly anything to write home about. All the students had dinner, changed in to pyjamas not too long after, then met in the ballroom where sleeping bags were provided. It was a little annoying trying to fall asleep early as a group of girls were keeping everyone up by 'yelling' about something.
A quick check of his scroll revealed that the time was 6:30 am. A quick look around the room showed that a large amount of, mostly all, the students were still asleep. After rubbing the sleep from his eyes, Wynn got up from his sleeping bag. His night time wear was a simple black muscle shirt that had a mask attached to the neck that still covered his mouth and nose. With a pair of gray shorts to finish it off.
After grabbing his bag and scroll, he made his way outside the ballroom towards the washroom to begin his morning routine. No other person was in the washroom so he brushed his teeth out of site from anyone and took a shower. By the time he got out of said shower with his shirt and pants back on, he could see people making their way towards the washrooms to begin their routines. No one really stood out other than a guy with a pink stripe in his long black hair being followed by a bubbly orange haired girl chanting "it's morning!"
'Certainly feel bad for that guy. But I should get an early pick at breakfast'.
.
.
.
And that's exactly what Wynn did as he got to the cafeteria before too many people got there and ate in an isolated corner where no one would see him. His breakfast consisted of scrambled eggs, toast, bacon and sausage. It was simple but his go to breakfast.
And now it was time to get ready for the initiation. It wasn't like it took him a long time to get changed as all the armour/padding was already a part of his shirt and he didn't have some massive weapon he needed to maintain. All he had to do was check the dust cartridge containers on his weapons and ensure that his gun wouldn't jam. A whole strip down of the gun was not needed.
Soon enough, the locker room was filled with students. Wynn saw a guy wearing gray armour and orange hair equip a mace, a black haired girl wearing a bow on her head grab some kind of sword, the pink stripe hair guy grab two pistols from his locker along with his friend and even more people suiting up for the coming trial.
Wynn had nothing else left to do so he stood up to make his way towards the starting area.
"Yang! Are you implying you don't want to be on a team with me?" The voice of Ruby called out as he walked by them.
'I am not entering that conversation' Wynn grimaced slightly as he walked by.
"Oh hey! You're the guy from the airship!"
'My plan to go un-noticed has been foiled' Wynn turned to see the blond haired guy from the airship.
"Just wanted to say thanks man"
"Yea it's no problem. I get motion sickness sometimes too. More or less on long car rides or long plane rides" Wynn responded with his arms crossed.
"I knew motion sickness wasn't un common! I always tell people that and they just shrug it off. Anyways, you really saved me from vomiting in front of so many people. The names Jaune Arc by the way".
"Wynn Pax" they shook hands briefly before Wynn returned to crossing his arms.
Jaune then looked sheepish "now I just want to find my locker"
"What number is it?"
"I could swear it was six three six but it wasn't"
"Not like I can really help you there" Wynn shrugged.
"Agh darn it! Guess I'll have to keep looking" Jaune sagged a bit before something caught his eye. "Hey back me up real quick".
"For wha- aaaand he's gone" Wynn looked over to where Jaune went and saw him leaning on a locker in between two women.
"You know what else is great? Me, Jaune arc. Nice to meet you"
'Oh brother…'
Wynn watched as Jaune tried flirting with a white haired girl talking to the red head girl he saw yesterday. The white haired girl had long hair tied in a ponytail. And wore a thigh-length strapless dress with a faint color gradation from white to pale blue at the hem. Over the dress, she wore a bell-sleeved bolero with the same color gradation as her dress from shoulder to wrist, lined in red and with a ruffled collar and an all too recognizable snowflake emblem on the back of it. She was really quite short compared to Jaune, the red head girl and even himself, this girl being about just under five feet. Jaune himself being a little over six foot and the red haired girl being about six feet tall wearing her greaves.
"Ugh! You again?" The white haired girl who Wynn assumed was a Schnee reacted in annoyance.
"Hello Jaune!" The red haired girl tried to introduce herself but got pushed to the side.
'I really should stop this…' Wynn approached the group as Jaune continued to speak.
"… I think the two of us would make a great team"
"Teams are comprised of four people Jaune" Wynn interjected as the three turned to him.
"I did hear something similar" the red head mentioned "and hello again!" She finished with a friendly smile and chipper tone.
"You two know each other?" Jaune raised a brow.
"We glanced at each other and waved so not really. Oh, and hello" Wynn waved back.
"Well then! That just means hot stuff and snow angel here can join the winning team and we can have ourselves here a double date team" Jaune gave a smile to the Schnee.
"Do you even know who you're talking to?" Schnee asked.
"Not in the slightest" Jaune said without breaking stride.
"This is Pyrrha"
"Hello again! Again".
"She graduated top of her class in sanctum" Schnee continued.
"Never heard of it" Jaune.
"Isn't that a school in Mistral?" Wynn asked.
"Yes! And she was the regional champion for four years in a row… it's a new record!"
"The wha?" Jaune tilted his head.
"Oh for! She's on the front of Pumpkin Pete's serial!"
"That's you!?" Jaune's face lit up "that's only for star athletes and cartoon characters".
"I do like that cereal" Wynn commented off handily.
"I guess it was pretty cool. Sadly it's not really that healthy for you" Pyrrha commented.
"To be fair" Wynn added "neither is a vast majority of cereals".
"Enough about cereal!" Schnee yelled out "do you really think after hearing all of this, you would deserve being on the same team as her? Much less lead it?"
"Okay no need to get harsh now" Wynn tried to dissolve the situation.
"I agree" Pyrrha spoke up "I'm sure Jaune would make a great leader"
"Oh stop it you!" Jaune gushed a bit.
"I'm just gonna step away from this" Wynn mumbled to himself before slowly inching his way out of the conversation and towards the exit doors. Just after passing the doors and hearing a large thunk that sounded like a spear hitting a wall, he heard the announcement for all the students to report to the starting area at Beacon's cliff.
Wynn was the first one out towards the cliff. The cliff overlooked the Emerald Forest which was just a forest that was connected to Beacon. Standing at the edge of the cliff was Headmaster Ozpin and Glynda. He received a head nod from the latter and a small wave from the former Who proceeded to take a sip from a coffee mug. There were multiple square metal platforms in a line that faced outward towards the cliff. Each platform having a sign followed by a name. His was the sixth from the left next to a name that read 'Weiss Schnee' to his right. And a name that read 'Blake Belladonna' to his left. There were other familiar names going down the line all the way to the end where he saw 'Jaune Arc'.
'So the Schnee's name is Weiss I guess' Wynn thought while approaching his spot. And within a minute or two, the rest of the spots began to fill. The Pyrrha girl was next to Weiss and sent a friendly wave. Weiss herself simply ignored Wynn so he didn't bother saying anything to her and responded with a small wave to Pyrrha. Not too long after everyone arrived, Ozpin began to speak.
"Welcome everyone. I'll keep this brief to start the test quickly. The emerald forest has been the testing grounds for the students of Beacon for years. You have all trained for years to become warriors and those skills will be tested today"
Glynda then spoke up "I'm not sure what you have heard about teams. Allow me to tell you how this will work. You will be given teammates today".
"These teammates will be with you for your entire stay here" Ozpin spoke again. "So it would be within your best interest to be paired with someone you can work well with. That being said. The first person you make eye contact with during the test will be your partner for the next four years".
There were murmurs within the group between a few students as Wynn thought 'I get the idea of that… but still seems more on the weird side'.
"After you have partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition on the way in the form of Grimm. Do not hesitate to destroy anything in your path or there is a great chance you will die" Ozpin continued. "You will be monitored throughout this entire initiation. But our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple with relics that you must retrieve and bring back to this cliff. Your pair will only grab one and will serve as your placeholder and count towards a grade. Are there any questions?"
"Uh sir? I-" Jaune started but was cut off.
"Good. Now let's begin"
'Alright here we go' Wynn closed his eyes and took a deep breath as he heard a large spring fire off and the first person in line was catapulted off the cliff. 'Remember your training… trust your instinct and don't lose focus'. Three more people were fired off before he opened his eyes and settled into a loose stance with his arms hanging in front of him. A stark contrast to the others who settled into stances that were more 'stiff' for a lack of better term.
Just as the black haired girl to his left was launched, he could feel the gears and springs before he was rocketed off into the forest at high speeds.

Short starting chapter and there's not much to go off of but I wanted to post it just to get something down and out. Whether I continue this is a big maybe considering I've deleted a couple stories that gained some traction because I lost inspiration.
