Chapter 1: Tragedy

All men are not created equal, this is something that many have to learn, most at a young age, none more so than a young Izuku Midoriya. This is his story, of how a hero prevails even in the darkest of times. A young greenet boy, approximately 3-4, is bouncing up and down in the back seat of a car, an older woman in the front seat smiling, being clearly the young boy's mother based on her same colored hair, hers being much more slicked back compared to the young boy's mop green hair atop his head spiking off in every direction. "Izuku, please, I know you're excited but save it for when we get back to celebrate". "I know, I know" the young boy now revealed to be named Izuku stated. "I'm just REALLY excited to show Kacchan my Quirk, oooh I hope it's like yours, or no dad's quirk"!

You see this is a civilization three hundred years into the advanced future, in 2018, everything changed. People never expected to develop full-blown superpowers and to say this had widespread implications would be an understatement. No one quite knows where they came from, but whether it be evolution, a virus from rats, or a full-on gift from god, the world became a much darker place with people with these powers being considered outcasts, leading to an all-time high in crime. Until a few brave souls came out of hiding to fight the good fight, using their powers not for malicious purposes, but to defeat those who use their powers for evil. They paved the way for what would be considered heroes. While most are just glorified police, only taking on the profession as a way to get attention and money. But there are a few that do it, not for the money or popularity, but for the simple act of saving lives against what are now considered villains, people who use their powers for ill intent. These powers are later dubbed quirks, as a way to normalize them as an extension of yourself, as "quirks".

Back in the car with the greenet parent and child. "I, can't wait to get a quirk so I can become a hero just like Almight". The green-haired matriarch smiles sincerely, "Almight is a hard standard to try and aspire to, being the number one hero and all that". He rolls his eyes with no hint of sarcasm on his freckled face, "All I want is to be able to smile in the face of danger and inspire hope like he does".

We cut to Izuku in front of a computer screen. "Izuku, how do you always watch this, it's too scary for me"? He just stared into the screen in belated excitement, until. "NEVER FEAR CITIZENS, WHY? CAUSE I'M HERE". Izuku chanted alongside the colossal seven-foot muscular man portrayed, this being Almight in all his glory, making his debut appearance in hero work, and doing it with a big smile on his face while carrying multiple hands full of people from what appears to be a burning city. "I think you've added almost a hundred thousand views on this all by yourself". Meanwhile, Izuku is bobbing back and forth with a face-splitting grin".

Back to the present. They arrive at the hospital and wait patiently to be called. They get called in by a bald man with a bushy mustache and weird almost mechanic-like goggles that cover his eyes but from his body language, it looked like he'd never slept a day in his life. They ran an x-ray and seemed to find what they were looking for. "We'll all be damned, we thought he would never develop a quirk from how long it was taking, but way to prove us wrong". he said almost enthusiastically but they couldn't tell through the tiredness in his voice. "He only has a single joint in his pinky, this is a clear sign of a blooming quirk, as those with a quirk have a more streamlined body structure from centuries of evolution in not only quirks but humans in relation to quirks. And this has been a reliable method thus far of Identifying quirks ". They then proceed to poke and prod at him to get what they need to determine his quirk. After doing so and finding out what his quirk was, the doctor had a grin on his face, maybe even a creepy one. But Izuku was too excited to care, just waiting in anticipation. "Your son's quirk seems to be a mutation of you and your Husband's quirk Mrs. Midoriya ''. This seemed to worry her for a second but then he continued. "This particular mutation is not harmful but did change his quirk factor in a big way". What are you and your husband's quirks"? She began to do a waving motion with her hands as she answered. I can levitate small objects towards my hands, though if it exceeds a pound it puts more strain on me". He nodded as Izuku toy Almight slowly flew into her palm with the waving of her hand. "And my husband has a fire-breathing quirk. He nodded again. Just wanted to make sure our files were correct. Still, as it turns out Izuku's quirk is nothing like your quirks because of the mutation I mentioned". "He does have an elemental quirk like his dad. Still, it's not fire but instead Ice". She looked shocked and then intrigued. "Isn't Cryomancy relegated to higher class families"? Precisely, which is why this mutation is so intriguing, we will have to study this more".

Later at the Midoriya residence. SURPRIZE! Everyone said as they walked through the door, Katsuki Bakugou saying it with the most fiery. Izuku ran to Bakugou to tell him the good news while the adults talked. So, What's Izuku's quirk"? "Cryomancy"! She said in excitement. Hahaha, okay now really, what's his quirk"? She looked at her with confusion evident. "I just said, Cryomancy. She looked at her unbelieving. There's no way, how is that possible"? "Yah Cryomancy has been contained to a minimal amount of families for two centuries, and what, you just had a fling with one and they didn't take Izuku when he was very young"? "I DIDN'T CHEAT ON HISASHI"! She shouted.

Sure you didn't, and my uncle is Almight. They laughed boisterously. Izuku came over. REALLY, CAN I MEET HIM? This just made them laugh harder. "You know what, why don't we test out your theory". That's when Bakugo's mom Mitsuki sat up, having seen enough. "I was only sitting so that Inko could toughen up a little bit but this has gone far enough". Most backed down but one didn't and shoved Mitsuki out of the way unintentionally hitting her head on something sharp. "MOM, YOU BITCH"! Bakugou ran at her with teary eyes, explosions popping out of his hands, before he could unleash an explosion he was backhanded by the woman's scaly arms, knocking him out. Izuku froze in fear, All of the other women had run but Inko ran in between her and her son. As she was about to punch Inko in the throat, Izuku's eyes went red as an ice spike shot through the woman's arm. She screamed and tried to get free but couldn't break the construct, and the struggling made the hole tear wider, making her scream louder. The screaming had made the neighbors call the police. It took them twenty minutes for them to show up, taking much longer to comfort Izuku for his actions.

Meanwhile with Dr. Geraki. "Master, I found one, a Cryomancer quirk, out in the open, ripe for the taking". Perfect, I'll be a bit busy, gift it to me by tomorrow, and I'll allow you to have more quirks to feed to your creations". "Thank you, master, it shall be done".

Back with Izuku. "YOU WHAT". "I'm sorry Mrs. Midoriya". So let me get this straight you can't arrest her because her quirk's animal instincts made her commit these crimes, THATS BULLSHIT, SHE KILLED MY FRIEND AND ALMOST KILLED A CHILD, A FUCKING CHILD". "Believe me we will work to correct this behavior, but at this time we can't treat her any differently from a mentally ill person, which is why she will be in daily quirk therapy and be under supervision when not".

It was not what she wanted but she knew she couldn't fight it. "What will happen to young Katsuki"?

"It was in her will that the rights to the child would go to you, just sign here to adopt him and I'll be out of your hair".

They got home late, this time with a new family member, but none were cheering, no none were excited. Inko was so drained that she couldn't even bear the will to clean the blood stains, the day's events too fresh in her mind. Izuku sprawled out a sleeping bag for Bakugou, not even bothering to mention how they are technically brothers now. Izuku could faintly hear Bakugou trying to hold back his tears. Eventually, they fell asleep.

Back with Dr. Geraki. "Okay, what about this, Yes we're in business'. In a test with translucent fluid was a slim pale purple monster with a prominently exposed brain and now sprouting wings. "Nomu number 282 code name, the Vulture". "Tonight we go out for a test run".

Outside the Midoriya residence apartment complex. "Fly me up slowly" The nomu did as instructed and picked him up as gently as his slim but muscular form would allow and began to rise with the flap of its wings "Stop at that window up above". It did as told and waited for its next order. "Carefully press me to the window so I shall open it". Once more it did as told, slightly too roughly though as the impact on the window was not enough to break it but was enough to wake Bakugou. "Hey, what's going o-"? He met the eyes of the doctor, he felt scared but didn't want to show weakness, not again, so he launched himself forward, waking up Izuku. "Nomu, knock him out quick before he alerts the parents". He did as told but did so by smashing through the window and knocking Bakugou into a wall. He felt his body failing but the image of his mother reinvigorated him. "We just want the other one, take him and get out of here". Bakugo Snarled "I'm not losing anyone else". He ran forward and unleashed a deafening explosion, The nomu protected the doctor from the blast but that didn't protect his eardrums. "NOMU, GET US OUT OF HERE, NOW"! He did as demanded and flew out of there with the doctor but also Izuku who had quirk-repressing cuffs placed on him and his screams muffled by the nomu. Inko was woken by a crashing sound, she was already running up the stairs when Katsuki was sent careening through the wall of the bedroom. She rushed to check on him, but then her heart skipped a beat at what he was saying. "Izuku Cough, Cough, They took Izuku". He tried to squeeze out but got instead a raspy mess that was just barely understandable. She rushed down the large flight of stairs and got in the car to a hospital for Katsuki's now bleeding head.

When they arrived, the nurses rushed him to the emergency room, meanwhile, Inko called 911, but no one was picking up and she began to panic.

At the edge of Musutafu, Japan, there was a great battle of titans happening, Dr. Geraki had expected to be praised by his master for his success, as rocky as it may have been, but to walk into a warzone between him and the number one hero Almight. He wanted to aid his master, but he knew he would be insulting him by doing so, he knew he would win this fight. he went down to his underground lab to make what would hopefully not be his last creation, he was confident in his master winning this fude but there were heroes everywhere rounding up the villains around the battle. He needed a new more powerful nomu to protect him during this all-out brawl. "All I need is a body". He looked at the still terrified and tied up Izuku. "Perfect" he tied him to a table and he was placed inside a machine. Izuku suddenly felt searing white hot pain in every pore of his body. His body started to blacken and his once-green hair fell out. "What's wrong? I'm only ripping the very quirk factor from your body, thank god for the I-Island double agents''. Izuku's agonizing screams stopped as he passed out from the pain. Just to be woken up by the doctor. "Don't go passing out on me, we have to make sure this goes smoothly". He looks at a vile on a shelf next to him. I was going to save this quirk for an Oboro Shirakumo but I think you will do nicely, hell I'll make you better than I would have made him. He grabs a whole bunch of other files, seemingly at random, and he attaches them all to a machine attached to a cylinder with translucent fluid in it that seems to shift a very subtle shade of purple. The no longer greenet was placed into the test tube and began to rapidly shift and elongate, he gained muscle and began to become slightly but noticeably taller, his eyes also lost their pupils, being stark white. The process lasted around 12 hours and in that time Almight managed to almost lethally damage Dr. Geraki's master but in return, he did the same, he had to do quite the patchwork and eventually made a prototype helmet for his now seriously deformed face. After which he went on business as usual, which did surprise him but he got over it and told him about his new creation, Along with presenting the new cryomancy quirk, which he accepted with open arms. He then asked to meet the boy. "Uhh, He's not quite ready for presentation, the brainwashing hasn't fully taken hold". "Well then have him ready for me when he is, oh and put him in something… nice". It took another 12 hours for the brainwashing to fully take control of Izuku's mind. He walked out of the test tube groggy and immediately went on defense after seeing the doctor. "Stand down, I am no foe, I am family" he remembered the lie he was told to tell that he was saved from a family that didn't want him because of his appearance. "Who are you"? "You mean you don't recognize me well maybe you'll recognize your flesh and blood". he stepped out of the way to reveal a child around 5-6 years old with unkempt pale sky-blue hair, his most striking feature being the hands wrapping around his face the back of his head, and down his arms. "Hello, brother". He said in a raspy voice. "Been a while since I've seen you Kurogami". "Who's Kurogami, and who are you"?! "Sigh" "You don't remember, huh"." Well let us make new memories then this time without the shackles of our hero-filled world". He walked closer to the now-brainwashed Kurogami. "Don't you remember, it's me Tomura"? "I can't remember". "Then let me help you" and at that, Tomura took his hands at the same time a tall figure walked in. "Truly touching, two brothers united once more". "What happened to me"? You were attacked by a hero who was put off by your appearance while in the streets with your brother. You were struck with his memory loss quirk and may not be able to recover your memories". He seemed to run by this answer in his head before just accepting it. "And where do you come into all this". "I adopted you both right after the incident, to save you from this world". "What do You mean"? What I mean is-". "WHAT HE MEANS IS THIS WORLD AS GONE ON FAR TOO LONG LETTING HEROES RUN RAMPETE, they don't help anyone, they just leave people like us on the streets to fend for ourselves". "Why don't we… cut them down to size a little bit"

This trickery eventually led to the League of Villains' newest and possibly most powerful recruit being created. "Hey, so what do I call you in the field, since it's better to go by code names"? Tomura Shigiraki said. "Hmmm, ooh how about Shinigami"? "Edgy, I love it".
