Heartbroken, Kagome returned to Japan and settled in her family's home...
Chapter One
Kagome stepped into the bustling lobby of the hero agency in America. The room buzzed with the energy of heroes coming and going, each with their own missions and stories. She had recently graduated from UA and had come to the United States to gain experience and broaden her horizons as a hero.
As she approached the reception desk, a voice boomed from the corner of the room. "Well, if it isn't the new recruit!"
Kagome turned to see All Might himself, towering over the others, his presence larger than life. Even though she had seen him in the media countless times, witnessing him in person left her momentarily awestruck.
All Might strode over to her, his iconic grin splitting his face. "I've heard about you, young hero. Kagome, right?"
Kagome nodded, her heart pounding. "Yes, that's me. I'm honored to meet you, All Might."
He chuckled warmly, extending a massive hand. Kagome took it, feeling the strength in his grip. "The honor is mine, Kagome. I've been following your progress at UA. Impressive stuff."
Kagome couldn't help but blush at the compliment. "Thank you, All Might. It's been a dream come true to work here."
Over the weeks that followed, Kagome found herself working closely with All Might on various missions. Their dynamic was a unique blend of mentorship and camaraderie. He guided her with wisdom earned through years of heroics, and she brought fresh ideas and enthusiasm to their work.
One evening, after a particularly challenging mission, they found themselves at a late-night diner, their hero costumes discarded for casual attire. Kagome sipped her milkshake while All Might devoured his burger with gusto.
"You know, Kagome," he began, his eyes twinkling, "I've been thinking. You have a real knack for this hero business. Have you ever considered staying in America and joining the ranks here permanently?"
Kagome considered the offer, her mind racing with possibilities. "It's tempting, All Might, but Japan will always be my home. I want to make a difference there."
All Might nodded, a hint of sadness in his eyes. "I understand, Kagome. Duty to one's homeland is a noble cause. Just promise me one thing."
"What's that?" Kagome asked, genuinely curious.
He leaned closer, his voice low and intimate. "Promise me that, no matter where you go, you'll always be the amazing hero I've come to know and admire."
Kagome felt a shiver run down her spine as she met All Might's gaze. There was something in those eyes, a depth of understanding and connection that transcended words. "I promise, All Might. I'll do my best to live up to your expectations."
Their hands brushed accidentally on the diner table, sending a jolt of electricity through Kagome. She realized that their relationship had evolved beyond mentorship, and a new bond was forming—one that was both thrilling and daunting.
As the weeks turned into months, Kagome and All Might continued to grow closer, sharing stories, laughter, and the weight of their hero responsibilities. They found solace in each other's company, two heroes on a shared journey.
Kagome pulled herself from her memories and gazed out of the airplane window, the familiar skyline of Tokyo coming into view. Her heart ached with a mix of nostalgia and apprehension. It had been years since she left Japan to pursue her hero career in America, and now, she was returning, her romance with the legendary All Might left behind like a distant dream.
As the plane touched down, Kagome's emotions swirled like a turbulent storm. She collected her luggage and made her way through the bustling airport, finally stepping out into the familiar city that had once been her home.
She hailed a taxi, giving the driver her family's address. The ride felt interminable, and Kagome's thoughts kept returning to the past. She remembered the day she first met All Might at the hero agency in America, the way his charismatic smile had melted her heart.
The taxi pulled up in front of her family's house, and Kagome paid the fare with a sigh. The house looked the same, a comforting sight that eased some of her unease. She pushed open the creaky gate and walked up the path to the front door. It had been left empty all these years, a silent reminder of her absence.
Her mother, brother, and grandfather lived at a nearby shrine, tending to their family's spiritual duties. This house had been left to Kagome because of her dreams of becoming a hero, a dream that had taken her far away and then brought her back.
After settling in, Kagome decided to pay a visit to her neighbors, the Midoriya and Bakugo families. She had been like a sister to Katsuki Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya as they grew up, babysitting them, helping with schoolwork, and even listening to their hero fantasies. It was those two who had encouraged her to follow her own dream.
She arrived at the Midoriya residence first, where Inko Midoriya greeted her with a warm hug. "Kagome-chan! You're back!" Inko exclaimed. "We've missed you so much. How have you been?"
Kagome smiled, feeling a lump in her throat. "I've been good, Inko-san. It's so nice to see you again."
Inko ushered her inside, and Kagome noticed that the living room was filled with green bean-themed decorations. "Izuku has been talking about you non-stop," Inko said with a chuckle. "He's determined to get into UA, just like you did."
Kagome's heart swelled with pride. "That's great to hear, Inko-san. Izuku has always had a hero's spirit."
As they chatted over tea, Mitsuki Bakugo, Katsuki's mother, came over. She gave Kagome a sly smile. "So, Kagome, I hear you've been making headlines in America. Tell me all about your romance with that All Might fellow."
Kagome blushed, realizing her relationship with All Might had made waves back home. "Well, it's a long story," she began, recounting the whirlwind romance that had swept her off her feet.
Mitsuki and Inko listened with rapt attention, occasionally exchanging knowing glances. They were like mothers to her, and Kagome was grateful for their warmth and support.
Just as they were deep in conversation, the front door burst open, and the familiar voices of Katsuki and Izuku filled the air. The two boys had grown taller and more mature since she last saw them, but their personalities remained as strong as ever.
Katsuki puffed out his chest proudly. "Hey, Kagome, you remember me, right? The future Number One Hero?"
Kagome chuckled, tousling his spiky hair. "Of course, Katsuki. You were always a little firecracker."
Turning to Izuku, she asked, "And what about you, Izuku? What's your dream?"
Izuku looked forlorn for a moment before Katsuki interrupted with a mocking laugh. "He's still a quirkless loser, just like when you left."
Kagome was surprised by Katsuki's harsh words but remained composed. She knew how it felt to have a dream and face adversity. She turned to Izuku and gave him an encouraging smile. "It doesn't matter if you have a quirk or not, Izuku. You can still achieve your dreams. My younger brother is quirkless too, and he's working hard every day."
Izuku nodded, his eyes shining with determination. "I'm going to train and study hard, Kagome, and I'll get into UA, no matter what."
Katsuki snorted in the background but didn't say anything more.
As the conversation continued, Mitsuki had to excuse herself in order to start dinner, taking Bakugou with her. Not long after Kagome decided it was time for her to depart as well. It was with a bright smile and a promise to visit again that she left the Midoriya home and made the small walk back to her own home.
Kagome found herself alone in her still semi-empty house once again. She settled onto the couch and pulled out her laptop, determined to send her resume to local hero agencies. Her career in America might be over, but she could still make a difference in her homeland.
With the click of a button, she sent out her applications, hoping for a new beginning in Japan. Little did she know that her return to UA would lead to unexpected twists in her life, including the rekindling of old flames and the start of new adventures.
