Chapter 20: Puppeteer

After finishing their homework, Chloé Bourgeois and Sabrina Raincomprix decided to enjoy some sightseeing from the former's hotel room. Look, Chloé?" Sabrina said while pointing at somebody. "Lady Wi-Fi is back!"

"What?" Chloé screamed in horror and looked at where Sabrina was pointing at. "Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous! She was already akumatized once."

"Chloé, I already told you a same person can be akumatized more than once." Tikki reminded her wielder

"Right, Tikki." Chloé replied and turned her attention back to Sabrina. "Sabrina, let's feed our kwamis."

"My precious." Plagg replied.

Moments later, Superbug and Catgirl started running after the direction they saw Lady Wi-Fi going. "She's going to Marinette Dupain-Cheng's home!" Catgirl exclaimed.

"Does Alya think I'm Dupain-Cheng?" Superbug asked. The two heroines then entered Marinette's home. To their surprise, Lady Wi-Fi was picking up some dolls while Marinette had a pause button on her. "What's going on?" Superbug asked in confusion.

"Give me your Miraculous!" Lady Wi-Fi demanded.

"Over my dead body!" Superbug replied while spinning her yo-yo.

Lady Wi-Fi was so distracted trying to pause Superbug she didn't notice Catgirl reaching her phone until it was too late. "Easier than before." Catgirl commented and she broke the phone without using her Cataclysm.

The pause buttons disappeared and Marinette recovered her mobility as expected but Lady Wi-Fi didn't turn back into Alya. "Where's the akuma, Lady Wi-Fi?" Superbug asked.

"I'm the Puppeteer and I want your Miraculouses, you mean girls!" Lady Wi-Fi whined like a little child.

"Go crying to your Mommy, you brat." Superbug arrogantly said.

'Superbug sounds like Chloé.' Marinette thought. 'What am I thinking? Chloé Bourgeois is too selfish to be Superbug'.

"You are so mean." Lady Wi-Fi cried and ran away.

"Let's go after them!" Catgirl said.

"No, it could be a trap!" Superbug replied and then turned her attention to Marinette Dupain-Cheng. "So, Marinette Dupain-Cheng, any idea why an akuma would want these dolls of yours?" She asked.

"Hawkmoth must have akumatized Manon!" Marinette exclaimed in horror.

"Who?" Superbug asked.

"Nadja Chamack's daughter, Superbug." Marinette explained. "I usually babysit her and she wanted to play with these dolls and she wanted the Superbug one but her mother only allowed her to bring the Lady Wi-Fi one. She must have used it to control Alya."

Superbug then noticed her doll as well as Catgirl's, Bubbler's and Evillustrator's. "In that case, I'm afraid we must destroy these other dolls."

"I understand, Superbug." Marinette sadly replied. "Sorry I've caused so many troubles."

"Don't blame yourself." Superbug replied while she and Catgirl ripped the dolls. "Blame Hawkmoth."

"True." Marinette commented. 'She's really too nice to be Chloé.'

"Follow me, Catgirl." Superbug said. "If the actual akuma is Nadja Chamack's daughter, I know where to find her."

As Superbug kept running towards the TV station where Nadja Chamack worked and Catgirl followed her, they were interrupted by "Lady Wi-Fi". "You ripped my dolls, you meanies." "Lady Wi-Fi" whined.

"They weren't yours, Manon." Superbug argued.

"I'm no longer Manon." "Lady Wi-Fi" shouted. "I'm Puppeteer!"

"Anyway, if you want dolls, you'll have to come here personally instead of coming through puppets." Superbug demanded.

"No!" "Lady Wi-Fi" shouted. "You come here and bring the dolls!"

"If we do, will you reject the akuma?" Superbug asked.

"Lady Wi-Fi" thought for a while before answering. "Yes."

"No!" Hawkmoth shouted from his hideout. "It's a trick! If you agree, I'll recall your akuma."

"Well, I made a deal with you first." Puppeteer said in conformity.

"Good girl." Hawkmoth replied with a smile.

After that conversation ended, "Lady Wi-Fi" resumed "her" conversation with the heroines. "Sorry, Superbug. I made a deal with Hawkmoth first."

"In that case, if you want the Miraculous, you'll have to come and get it!" Superbug declared and ran to the side and "Lady Wi-Fi" became so focused on going after her that "she" forgot about Catgirl, who decided to go to the TV station.

When Superbug arrived, Catgirl was holding Puppeteer's wand in one hand while using her other hand to keep Puppeteer away. "Lucky Charm!" Superbug shouted and a similar wand except for it being red with black dots appeared. She then broke Puppeteer's wand, turning her back into Manon Chamack. "Miraculous Ladybug!" She shouted while tossing her wand into the air, turning it into a bunch of magical ladybugs that undid all damages Puppeteer caused through Lady Wi-Fi.

Nadja Chamack rushed into the room. "What happened?" She asked.

"Hawkmoth akumatized your daughter into Puppeteer so she'd use her Lady Wi-Fi doll to control the real one." Superbug explained. "I must leave to protect my secret identity so Catgirl will tell the rest. Bye."

"Wait!" Nadja said. "Marinette, the girl who usually babysits Manon, has dolls of the both of you as well as of Bubbler and Evillustrator."

"Don't worry, we already destroyed them." Catgirl reassured Nadja. "Superbug and I already destroyed the dolls albeit they probably were restored by Superbug's power."

"That's a relief." Nadja replied.

The next school day, Adrien Agreste was comforting his girlfriend. "I just can't believe Alya Césaire was under an akuma's control because I made a dool of her akuma self." She sadly commented.

"Don't blame yourself, Marinette." Adrien reassured her. "It's Hawkmoth's fault."

"I agree with Adrien." Chloé commented. "He reached a new low by akumatizing a little child."

"See, Marinette?" Adrien asked.

"You both are right." Marinette agreed. "My concern should be what to wear for Picture Day."

Juleka then approached Marinette. "Marinette, would you have something to finally make my face appear in the picture?" She asked.

"I can think of something, Juleka." Marinette replied.

"Call the Vulture Squadron just in case that pigeon that got between your face and the camera that year returns." Chloé teased. "Jokes aside, we already had a pigeon-controlling akuma so, who can be sure it won't happen again?"

"Good point, unfortunately." Marinette muttered.
