Through combined efforts, the list of corrupted characters is slowly becoming narrow. With only a handful of names left, the organization works around the clock trying to catch the last of them.
Coming to the world of Dreamworks, Scroll has been tasked with the capture of Shrek, the ogre. He entered the world before the events of his story began, coming to his swamp where he keeps himself isolated.
As he arrived at the swamp, he found it already in a state of disrepair. Bursting through the door, Shrek steps out, a duel disk attached to their arm with a strong aura of darkness surrounding their body.
Shrek has already had a turn. He summoned Orge of the Black Shadow [LV4 Earth Beast-Warrior ATK 1200], and then set a card facedown before ending his turn.
"My turn, draw. I activate Graceful Charity. I draw three cards, and discard two." Scroll goes through the eight cards in hand, and decides to discard two monsters. "Next I play Premature Burial. I pay 800 life points to revive Armed Samurai - Ben Kei in attack mode." With a small cost, Scroll revives one of the discarded monsters. [LV 4 Dark Warrior ATK 500] "That's not all. I also equip him with the equipped spell Lightning Blade to raise his attack points by 800."

"Ben Kei has the ability to gain an additional attack for every equipped spell attached to him. So he has exactly three attacks with two equip cards on him. Battle. I attack your Orge!" Ben Kei charges in with the Lightning Blade as their weapon. While Shrek's monster puts up a fight, Ben Kei takes the win, slices them in half.

Shrek starts laughing after his monster is destroyed. It puts Scroll on edge.
"Not bad. Not bad," Shrek says in a casual tone. "But here's the thing about us orges. There's always another. I activate my trap card Byroad Sacrifice. When a monster is destroyed by battle I can special summon Cyber Ogre from my hand." Taking a card from his hand, Shrek summons his replacement monster. A large, mechanical ogre [LV 5 Earth Machine ATK 1900].
Scroll ends his turn, Ben Kei being too weak to overcome the new monster.
"Oh dear, did I spoil your plans? Here, let me make it up to you," Shrek draws from his deck and then immediately moves into the battle phase. "Cyber Ogre attack Ben Kei!" Shrek's Cyber Ogre grabs Ben Kei and slams them down onto the field, destroying them.

"I'll place this little diddity face down, and end my turn. Back to you sunshine."
"Draw. During my standby phase, because all my monsters in the grave are warriors, I can revive Immortal Bushi in attack mode." Scroll revives the second monster he discarded last turn. [LV 3 Dark Warrior ATK 1200] "Next, I tribute Mushi to advance summon Divine Knight Ishzark!" [LV 6 Light Warrior ATK 2300] "And that's not all. I also use the spell Solidarity. While this continuous spell card is in play, and all the monsters in my graveyard are of one monster type, every monster I control of that type gains 800 attack points. So Ishzark gains power from his fallen allies." The projections of Mushi and Ben Kei hover around Ishzark before he gains their power.

Scroll takes a moment to think. He tries to read Shrek. He knows of Cyber Ogre's ability, as well as that Shrek set something else. Risking it, he moves into the battle phase. "Ishzark, attack Cyber Ogre!"
"It's like you want to lose. I use Cyber Ogre's effect. By discarding itself, the one I control negates your attack." Holding their hands up, Cyber Ogre creates a barrier around itself, blocking the attack. "And then it gains 2000 attack points that last until the next time it battles."

Scroll grits his teeth, angry at himself for falling for the attack. He sets a card face down and ends his turn. Even with the power boost, Shrek still has the advantage.
"Draw. I activate the trap, Call of the Haunted. I'll use it to revive the Cyber Ogre I discarded, giving me two of them. I'll also play this face down, and move into the battle phase." Shrek's first Cyber Ogre attacks Ishzark. It lets out a harsh screech that turns into a strong shockwave. The attack turns Ishzark to nothing.

"What's one more for the road? I attack you directly with my last Ogre!" Like the first, this Cyber Ogre lets out another destructive screech to attack Scroll.
"I activate my trap card, Reinforce Truth! I can special summon a level 2 or lower Warrior from my deck. I special summon Vengeful Shinobi in attack mode." [LV 2 Dark Warrior ATK 400] "I still have my continued spell, so my monster gains another 800 attack."

"Doesn't matter, I'll destroy that too." Shrek redirects the attack to the warrior. At this moment its ability activates. It throws a shuriken at Scroll's deck, allowing him to draw before the attack hits. The brave ninja dies from the attack, ultimately saving Scroll.

"Well, you just got lucky. I end my turn with that. Let's see what you've got for me now."
"My move, draw!" Scroll's hand becomes four thanks to Shinobi. During the standby phase, Bushi returns to the field and then gains 800 attack points.

"I activate Pot of Greed to draw two cards from my deck." Adding to his hand, Scroll makes up a plan on the spot. "I discard Silent Swordsman LV5 from my hand to special summon Gaia the Fierce Knight Origin from my hand." [LV 4 Earth Warrior ATK 1600]

"Origin has the ability to be treated as two tributes for a warrior monster. I tribute Immortal Bushi and Gaia Origin to advance summon Gilford the Lightning!" With a bolt of lightning, Scroll's strongest warrior appears on the field with fanfare. [LV 8 Light Warrior ATK 2800] "When tribute summoned using three monsters, I can destroy all monsters you control." Gilford raises their sword, calling the lightning from the sky. With their sword, they strike down both Cyber Ogres at once.

"With no monsters on your field, I attack you directly!" Gilford channels the lightning in their sword. With a supercharged slash, he knocks back Shrek, throwing them away.

"I end my turn. I'll give you an easy way out if you surrender. No one has to get hurt. You're not well," Scroll tries to negotiate now that he has the advantage.
"Sorry, but I'm not going down without a fight." Shrek's eyes glow a deep red as he flips up his trap card. "Necro Fusion. I banish both Cyber Ogres in my grave to fusion summon Cyber Ogre 2!" Rising from behind him, Shrek summons his strongest monster. [LV 7 Earth Machine Fusion ATK 2600]
"Draw. Battle! I attack Gilford the Lightning with Cyber Ogre 2! My monster's ability increases its attack by half its target's attack points. So with your buffed-up warrior, it gains 1800 points!" Cyber Ogre 2 grabs hold of Scroll's monster. It's body glows as it sucks out its power to fuel itself.

Gilford tries to call the lightning to respond, but instead, it just charges the Ogre. Going out fighting, Gilford is destroyed. The explosion sends Scroll into the air before he smacks down on the floor hard.

Cyber Ogre 2's attack points return to normal after being the damage calculation step of the battle phase. Shrek ends his turn, confident with his position.
Scroll struggles to get back up. He breathes heavily with his legs being too weak to take his weight. "...draw." Bushi returns to the field during the standby phase. "I tribute Bushi to summon Penumbral Solider Lady in attack mode." [LV 6 Dark Warrior ATK 2100] "With solidarity on the field, she gains 800 attack points. Making her stronger than yours."
[Solider Lady ATK 2900]
"Battle…attack Cyber Ogre 2…," Solider Lady rushes into battle. With her shield, she blocks the Ogre as they try to defend themself. Taking their sword, she removes the monster's head, destroying it. With exact damage, Scroll wins.

Shrek drops to the floor in pain. He clutches his body as the darkness tries to escape from his body. Scroll rushes to their side. Using all their strength, he tackles them down, shoving a blank card in their face. Scroll falls to the floor that Shrek once stood on, holding a card with his face on,"...We're almost there."
