We continue as the initial investigation into Lysandre and Zane ends up giving them a shocking condition when confronted again.

Museum of Vanity Part 2
Aqua, Uzi, Alexis and Gatomon drop down into a room of the museum and see a lot of painting of people on the walls but no one was around.
"…It's quiet in here. Almost eerily so," Gatomon said looking around.
"H-Hey… This…" Alexis said looking at the paintings "It's… moving…"
"Come on Prima, we're in a Palace." Uzi said with a shrug "This ain't anything to be freaking out over."
"Hm, the Palace reflects its ruler's heart… We may want to check these paintings out." Gatomon suggests.
Aqua nods and approaches one of the distorted pictures and look at it. Something was odd about it.
"Oh hey, there's some kind of explanation here… Let's see…" Uzi said looking at the plaque nearby. "It's someone's name and age? What the heck?"
"That can't be the title of the painting…. Right?" Alexis asked concerned "Do you think it's the artist's name?"
Gatomon ponders on it and said "Let's check the other paintings too. I think there might be something important about them…"
"Yeah" Aqua said nodding.
They move through the rooms and saw many different portrait paintings different names and ages on the plaques. But when they enter a corridor they stop.
"Hey, this doesn't make any sense…" Alexis said confused. "Lysandre's famous for having a variety of art styles…But all the portraits on the display here look the same… This is way different from what was at the…"
"Wait a sec!" Uzi said looking ahead and points to a portrait that shows a familiar yellow cybertronain Sunstreaker "Ain't this that robot we saw in Mementos? You know, the one who was bad-mouthing Lysandre…"
"Sunstreaker." Gatomon said sadly "His name's written on the plaque."
"Bite me I don't get it." Uzi said confused "Why's there a painting of HIM in here?! And more important, why's his name written under it?"
"You're right… Dosen't art usually have like, the title of the piece or the artist's name?" Alexis said nodding in agreement.
"Hm… This is quite the mystery…" Gatomon said thinking "All right, let's keep looking around for now."
Aqua nods, she was having an idea but needs to see more. They head down the corridor and when they reach the end they find a more shocking sight.
"What…? No way!" Alexis said in shock as they see a large painting of Zane, it was the biggest one out of all the portraits they've seen.
"Hey, isn't this a painting of that robot guy?" Uzi asked.
"It says 'Zane.'" Gatomon said reading the plaque "There's no mistaking it."
"Huh? Wait a second…" Alexis said realizing and looks to Aqua "What do you think these paintings are?"
"I had an inking and this confirmed it. These paintings are of Lysandre's pupils." Aqua said looking at Zane's painting.
"I think you're right." Alexis said nodding.
"Are you serious? All of them?" Uzi said in shock "But it was only Zane when we went to his place before…"
"This must include former pupils as well." Gatomon said thinking "Only one remains now...Taking into account what that Sunstreaker guy said earlier, things are getting clearer. Okay, let's keep investigating. We need something to further confirm our deduction."
The group nod and head into the next room which seems to the the reception area guests would enter when they first come in and Aqua sees something glowing in brochure stand thanks to her Third eye and goes to it and pulls it out.
"What, you find something?" Uzi asked and Aqua shows it.
"Is that… a pamphlet?" Alexis asked.
"This is getting way too detailed for a freaking Palace… Why'd he bother making something like this?" Uzi asked confused.
"Oh there's a museum guide on here. Let's take it with us!" Gatomon said looking at it and seeing the map.
"Yeah! It might even show us the location of the Treasure!" Alexis said with a smile.
"That is a possibility." Gatomon said nodding "At the very least, it should be a good reference for the scale of this place."
"Huh…? But the map only shows half of the Museum…" Alexis said looking down.
"I see…. It says one out of two." Gatomon said looking at the map.
"Then the two out of two's got to be around here somewhere, right?" Uzi asked. "Just how big is this place…?"
"My guess, somewhere near the end of this map" Aqua said thinking.
"We can worry about that another time." Gatomon told them "Right now our objective is confirming Lysandre's cognition. We may have to reconsider our plan depending on what we find."
"I mean, he's got a Palace… Seems pretty sketchy to me." Uzi said nodding.
"Let's keep looking regardless" Aqua said and sees a locked chest which contained a Lunar Cutless which she gave to Gatomon to use.
They then enter the room behind the reception deck into a large room with one central gold statue which surprised the group it was a whirlwind with people on it.
"Hm…" Gatomon said going to the info plaque "Look at this."
"The Infinate Spring?" Alexis said reading it. "A conglomerate work of art that the great director Lysandre created with his own funds. These individuals must offer their ideas to the director for the rest of their lives. Those who cannont do so have no worth living!" She thinks and said "Hey… This is most likely about the plagiarism, right?"
"Damn it, what a phony geezer!" Uzi said getting angry.
"In other words, his pupils are his property." Gatomon said sighing "He doesn't even qualify as an artist if this is true. He's stealing the ideas from talented students in exchange for securing their livelihood."
"Yeah, and if they cut away from him or do something he disapproves of, he ruins there future." Aqua said recalling seeing a homeless man at Beacon interchange who was cursing an artist out but can't recall if they meant Lysandre but wouldn't be surprised if it was him.
"I wondered about those portraits on display… They must be his 'pupils' though his cognition." Gatomon said nodding. "This even says that they have no worth. Couldn't this be about the abuse? Lysandre will keep them around as long as they're useful to him, but the moment they're not…"
"He throws them out" Aqua finished sadly.
"He's treating them like slaves or tools!" Alexis said upset.
"Why's Zane keeping quiet about this?" Uzi asked in anger "He's go not reason to cover this up!"
"He did say that he owes Lysandre his life for being taken in…" Alexis said thinking.
"But still…!" Uzi said.
Alexis thinks and explained "When we were at the exhibit, I praised one of the pieces on display. But…. Zane acted strange. Maybe that piece was plagiarized too…"
Uzi looks at Aqua and asked "What's the call? Ain't this enough to target Lysandre?!"
Aqua thinks on it and said, "I want to say yes Circuit…but I am still hesitant to give the go ahead."
"Don't get cold feet. I'm sure we can manage this!" Uzi said to her.
"Whoa, you're jumping the gun here." Gatomon said to Uzi "Waterwave's opinion is reasonable. We should confirm these facts with Zane once more."
"Confirm what, though?!" Uzi asked annoyed that it seemed she was the only one who wants to go ahead with the job.
"It means we should get solid evidence that such crimes actually took place." Gatomon told her.
"What a pain in the rear…" Uzi sighs annoyed
"Besides, there's too much we don't know about Lysandre yet." Gatomon points out.
Alexis thinks and nods "…Mm, you're right. I'll try contacting Zane. I might be able to get the truth out of him if I accept his modelling offer."
"Wait, you're going to do that?!" Gatamon asked her shocked.
Alexis nods and said "You all better come with me, okay? I'm scared to go alone…"
Uzi calms down and looks up at the statue and smiles saying "A famous, renowned artist, huh? This might actually be tougher than Gaston. Well, we'll just prep ourselves until we get confirmation from Zane. This is our first mission as real phantom thieves. We've gonna succeed no mater what!"
"Yeah, I feel a stronger presence then Asmodeus in here, we should be cautious." Arsene said to Aqua.
"Agreed." Aqua said nodding at the group head for the exit.
Aqua and Gatomon returned to their room at LeBlanc to rest as they were exhausted from there trip into the Metaverse.
"The reason why Zane is hiding the truth, huh…" Gatomon said thinking
"Yeah." Aqua said and get a message in the Dragon Gems group chat.
"Would you really forgive someone unconditionally if you owe your life to them?" Alexis asked. "I'm not sure anymore."
"What're you bringing this up for?" Uzi asked.
"According to Zane, Lysandre isn't a problem." Alexis said
"Is something wrong?" Aqua asked her.
"Yeah, a little." Alexis replied and added "I mean, I know Lysandre is a bad person, but still…Maybe I'm so hesitant because I haven't actually met any of his victims."
"Yeah, I guess that part's totally different from what happened with Gaston." Uzi said in his reply.
"This might be an extreme line of thinking…But if an evil person isn't causing any trouble now…Is there really a point in us stepping in?" Alexis asked.
"Well… you got a point." Uzi replied "So we're gonna let Zane decide if Lysandre's worth going after or not? I don't kno… if it were me, I'd never forgive that jerk!"
"Let us just see how Zane feels" Aqua messages
"Yeah… I guess we could talk some more after that." Alexis post in response "Okay. Let's meet in Beacon after school tomorrow."
Aqua nods and closes her phone, her package from the shopping network arrived and she claims it's contents before going to bed. After getting ready her phone rings.
"Hello?" Aqua said
"Hey it's me." Uzi said on the other end. "I just can't forgive Lysandre, but… what Alexis said made me think… To Zane, are we just a bunch of thugs?"
"It's probably the case, I mean he does barely know us." Aqua said thinking.
Uzi sighs "I knew it…It ain't like he thinks it its! Annoys me just thinking about it! Good people have to put up with so much while…while lousy adults do whatever they want! Makes me actually sick, I-I'm not wrong, am I?"
"No, you are correct, which is why we'll take them down when we find them" Aqua said nodding and smiling.
"Awww yeah!" Uzi said excited "Don't tell Alexis I called you, by the way. Seriously. Well, see you tomorrow."
Aqua nods and hangs up and goes to sleep.
The next day the group were in school and while in class they get on the group chat while the teacher was busy.
"Alright, I contacted Zane about modelling for him." Alexis posts "Still waiting for his response."
"Thanks!" Uzi posts
"I really have no idea what I'm supposed to do as an art model though…" Alexis messages.
"It's alright, just be yourself." Aqua messages in response.
"That's actually kind of hard…" Alexis admits.
"Look, you don't got to go all out for this." Uzi messages "You're only doing it so you can get dirt on Lysandre, remember?"
"That is true." Alexis messages "It sounded like Zane wants this to be a private picture of his though…Well, I guess I'll let you guys know when he contacts me again."
They get off the phone and continue there classes, soon it was near after school and the group meet up in the courtyard.
"I got a response from Zane." Alexis said to them "He said he wants me to come over after school today."
"Perfect!" Uzi said with a teasing grin "Probably dropped all his plans just to get you over there."
"We need to find out from Zane if what we saw in the Palace was true…" Alexis said sighing.
"Hey quiet down." Gatomon said in a whiper looking ahead at the open corridor. "It's that student council president."
The group look and indeed they see J a distance way, she was talking to Penny through they were too far away to hear what they were saying.
"Yikes… She got a hold of Penny today?" Uzi said seeing that. "It'd suck if she noticed us. Come on, let's split up."
"Okay, see you later." Alexis said nodding.
The group nod and begin leaving going in separate ways.
A while later Aqua and Gatomon met back up with Uzi at the walkway at the train station and were waiting for Alexis.
"We finally landed a big target." Uzi said smiling "Come on, let's get some dirt on Lysandre." She then sighs and said "But man…. Alexis is late."
"Sorry." Alexis said arriving at that moment. "I was thinking about some things and didn't notice how much time had passed."
"Thinking about what?" Uzi asked her.
"Don't you think Zane has to be protecting Lysandre?" Alexis asked them. "I mean they live together, so he'd have to be aware of Lysandre's true nature. The only reason I can think of him doing that is that Lysandre has something on him…"
"Yeah, that's weird." Uzi said nodding to that. "But that's why we're going to check it out, right? You ready to be a model?"
"Yeah, I'm prepared." Alexis said with a nod.
"What do you mean prepared? Prepared for what?" Uzi asked confused. She looks to Aqua "Something seem different about her to you?"
"Yeah does seem so" Aqua said nodding.
"You're totally right." Uzi said grinning.
"Huh? But I'm the same as always" Alexis said confused.
"H-Huh. Well… let's get going." Uzi said shrugging "We got to take to Zane."
"Zane seemed really happen when I agreed to be his model." Alexis explained to them. "Once he finishes drawing and gets a little friendlier, we should bring up Lysandre."
The others nod and head to Lysandre's house.
Once they arrived Zane was happy to see Alexis but annoyed seeing that Aqua and Uzi have again tagged along. Regardless he brought them to his art studio room and had them sit down.
"I thought it would just be you coming Alexis." Zane said a bit annoyed.
"Wouldn't you get nervous too, if it was just the two of us?" Alexis asked him as a cover story.
"We're here to keep an eye on you, so don't try anything perverted, okay?" Uzi said to Zane.
"Stop making such odd assumptions. I have absolutely no interest in here as someone of the opposite sex." Zane told her.
"Huh?" Alexis said a bit surprised hearing that.
"Is there a problem?" Zane asked her.
Alexis shakes her head "…No, not really." She sits down on the chair and makes a pose.
"Well then, let's get started." Zane said sitting down to begin his drawing. He was focused as he worked.
"…Hey." Alexis said to try and start a conversation. But Zane just keeps working "Zane?" Zane just focuses on his work
"You hear her?" Uzi asked him but Zane stays focused
"…It's no use." Alexis said sighing.
"This isn't what we planned!" Gatomon said from in the bag "We were going to catch him off guard and make him spill his beans, weren't we?"
"How were we supposed to know this was gonna happen?" Uzi said to him and sighs "Guess we just got to wait until he's done…What an annoying pain in the rear…"
"Perhaps I should try going outside this room…" Gatomon suggests.
"Okay, just don't get caught." Aqua whispered to him
"Heh, who do you think you're talking to?" Gatomon said proudly. "Besides this is too borning, so I'm going to scout around a bit.
Gatomon then leaves the room and wonders around and comes across a red and black door, locked with a padlock that depicts the legendary Kalos Pokemon Yveltal.
"Hmmm, it's weird how flashy that door is…" Gatomon said seeing the door "And… is that a lock? A door with a hefty lock… What could be in there?"
We return to the room where the others were waiting for Zane to finish. Zane eventually stops and sighs.
"Are you done?" Uzi asked smiling.
"It's no good…" Zane said sounding disappointed.
This surprises and confuses the three and Uzi stands up and asked "…What?"
"I'm sorry… Am I the problem?" Alexis asked sadly.
"No, not at all. It's just…" Zane said to that and sighs "I'm having trouble staying focused today. I'm sorry, but we'll have to resume this another time…"
"Oh, heck no! Bite me, how many hours do you think you made us wait?!" Uzi said annoyed as Aqua and Alexis stand up to Zane's confusion.
"I'm sorry…" Alexis said "We had another reason for seeing you today… We need to take to you."
"It's about those rumours regarding your sensei." Uzi points out.
"This again…" Zane said standing up.
"That painting I saw at the exhibit… You're the one who actually painted it right?" Alexis asked him.
"That's…" Zane said wincing at the question. To Aqua this screamed that Alexis hit the nail on the head.
"I knew it." Alexis said seeing that too.
"Your sensei's seriously messed up." Uzi said to him "He just thinks of his pupils as tools. That's why he doesn't give a damn whether he steals their work or physically beats them. I'll make this clear, there no point in hiding stuff from us."
"Hahaha… I have no idea what you're talking about…" Zane said denying the accusation about his sensei.
"You couldn't go against him, could you?" Alexis said to him softly "I'm sure we can help you out though…"
"Stop it…" Zane said glaring at the three. He then explained "It's just as you say. We're… our sensei's 'artwork'" This surprised the group, and he continues "Don't misunderstand me though. I offered my ideas to him myself. As such, it can't be called plagiarism." He looks down and clenches his fist "Sensei is simply suffering from artist's block right now."
"Dude, still…" Uzi said in shock. Zane sighs looking away.
"Zane…" Alexis said feeling bad for the robot.
"Then why're you sticking around?!" Uzi asked in anger "All his other pupils ran away! Aren't you the only one left?!"
"What's wrong with a pupil helping out his master?!" Zane asked in anger "There are no victims here! Stop pushing your self-centred righteousness on me!"
"And what about his other pupils?" Aqua asked him.
Zane remained quiet about that not sure how to answer it so he says "I'm supporting Sensei as hi pupil. Where's the wrong in that?" He sits down on his chair "Don't ever come here again… If you do, I'll sue you for causing a disturbance."
"Hold it! We're not done taking here!" Uzi yelled out at him.
"Then you leave me no choice…" Zane said standing up and pulls out his phone.
"Hey!" Uzi said.
"I'm reporting you to the police troopers." Zane said to them surprising the three. "I asked Alexis to be my model today, but I don't recall ever call you two here!" He points to Uzi and Aqua.
"What the heck?!" Uzi said in anger and shock.
"Uzi! Stop it!" Alexis said to her. She looks back at Zane "Calm down, okay?"
"Bite me!" Uzi said in annoyance.
Zane thinks then puts his phone away and said "I won't report you…. But only under one condition."
"What's that?" Alexis asked.
"I want you to continue being my model, Alexis." Zane said to her.
"But you said that it wasn't working out today…" Alexis points out confused.
"That's because I was unconsciously being modest for your sake…" Zane explained to her. "However, I have nothing to worry about anymore, if you're willing to bare everything to me…I will put my heart and sole into creating the best nude painting ever!"
"WHAT?!" Uzi said in shock hearing that.
"Nude?!" Alexis said in shock as well
"Seriously?!" Aqua said in shock at this.
"Ah, to think I'd be able to create a nude painting with my most ideal model!" Zane said with eyes close and smiling. He then looks serious at Aqua and Uzi saying "Of course, you two won't be allowed in, and I ask that you forget about our discussion today, as well." He then sighs as he explained "If I don't submit a new piece to Sensei soon, there will be some…inconveniences."
"Nude, meaning it'll be without any clothes, right?!" Alexis asked blushing embarrassed "Why are things suddenly escalating like that?!"
"Because those are my terms." Zane said simply.
"But that…" Alexis said trying to make an argument.
"Wait, ain't that bad?!" Uzi asked confused.
"Sensei is our during the afternoon while the art exhibit is on, so I can use this place freely…" Zane explained to them. "I should buy more art supplies."
"Will you give me a second here?!" Alexis said panicking.
"Of course, I'm willing to wait." Zane said with a nod. "I'll make time according to your plans. But, please come before the exhibit ends."
"No! That's not what I mean! Why are you not listening?!" Alexis said annoyed and flustered?!"
"Sensei will be returning home soon." Zane told them. "We're done for today. Alexis, I'll be waiting for you to contact me."
"No, no, no! We are not done talking here!" Alexis said worried. Zane turns and goes to sit as his art desk.
"Hey… What should we do?" Uzi asked Aqua.
"We have to leave…" Aqua said sighing and face palming, Zane had them beat.
"Yeah…. Dammit. He got us good this time." Uzi said sighing.
"Don't give up so easily!" Alexis said annoyed.
They go to leave, and Uzi opens the door and sees Gatomon on the other end who asked "Huh? Is she done being a model?"
Zane sits up hearing Gatomon meow and said "…A cat?"
"You moron!" Uzi said in a low voice, they had to leave now and quickly picks up Gatomon.
"Maow?!" Gatomon lets out in shock and confusion.
Soon the three were outside Lysandre's house to regroup and discuss what happened. Natually Alexis was annoyed and embarrassed.
"He's totally out of his robotic mind! I'm going to have to pose nude if this keeps up!" Alexis said in anger.
"How dare that Zane…!" Gatomon said in anger.
"The way he said it, it's not gonna be semi, but full on nude…" Uzi points out.
"F-fu… F-F-Full nudity? Lady Alexis's gonna…." Gatomon stuttered in surprise.
"Drop it!" Alexis told them.
'It's surprising but what if he was doing that to keep us away to avoid more…I don't know but it is possibly.' Aqua thinks
"Agreed. But it is just speculation for now." Berith said to her.
"You know, you won't have to worry about that if we make Lysandre confess before the exhibit ends." Uzi told Alexis.
"But Zane thinks he owes his life to him. Is there a need to make Lysandre confess?" Alexis asked.
"Then Lady Alexis… you're fine with baring it all?" Gatomon said in shock.
"I am not!" Alexis told him.
"Lysandre's no different from Gaston." Uzi said in anger "That jerk is using Zane, who doesn't have parents. You're telling me we should just ignore how he's being treated horribly like the other pupils?"
"No… It is frustrating to leave this alone, even if Zane is fine with it himself…" Alexis said sadly.
"You can't leave it be because you've endured a lot yourself, with Gaston." Gatomon said sadly.
Alexis looks down and nods "…Yeah."
Uzi looks at the group and said "Anyways, we got to go after this guy. Lysandre's the kind of target we've been waiting for. Let's help Zane come to his senses too… before he ends up like us."
"…Right." Alexis said nodding.
"We need to look into Lysandre first." Gatomon told them.
"There might be tons more stuff that hasn't been exposed yet, too." Uzi said with a nod.
"It may become easier for us to investigate his Palace. If he's preoccupied with his exhibit." Gatomon said thinking.
"Also, there's the thing about me modelling." Alexis points out. "Zane said there'd be 'inconveniences' unless he submits a new piece. Maybe that's going to be announced soon as Lysandre's next work…"
"Does that mean the whole country's gonna see you nude?!" Uzi asked in shock.
"Probably if that ends up happening." Aqua said thinking.
"No way! Heck no!" Alexis said in worry.
"We must deal with Lysandre, no matter what, before his exhibit ends!" Gatomon said determined.
"Let's start after school tomorrow." Uzi suggests. But thinks and said "It'll be a pain if Miss President finds us on the rooftop again, so where to meet up… Let's see…"I guess that walkway-like place in Beacon would work. It's near Lysandre's place, too."
Gatomon smiles "…Changing our hideout periodically, huh? That's a plan I don't mind backing."
"I agree" Aqua said with a nod.
"Hey, can I talk to you kids for a sec?" A female voice said and the group look and there was the brown bird with the camera that Aqua saw talking to a conductor on her first day heading to school.
"…Huh?" Uzi said confused.
"From the looks of things, you don't seem like the ordinary, stalking fans." The bird woman said to the three.
"Uh…" Alexis said in confusion.
"Oh, sorry. I should've been more clear. I'm actually looking for people that know Lysandre's pupils." The bird woman said smiling. "There's this painting, 'Julian' that was supposedly stolen in the past. But there's this rumor that it was taken by one of his pupils in retaliation for being abused. Have you heard anything about that?"
Aqua thinks and grins and said "I don't but Uzi knows."
"Me?!" Uzi said in shock "I don't know nothing!"
"I see…" The bird woman said sighing "There's no case unless there's a victim, and if there's no proof of abuse… I can't write either. Looks like I'm back to square one. Sorry for taking your time." She goes to Aqua and hands her a business card "I'm a journalist. If you ever get any leads, mind contacting me here?" She smiles "See you then." She then leaves.
Uzi said after she left "…I guess we should go home for today."
"Agreed" Aqua said and they leave.
After returning home Aqua and Gatomon were in their room and Gatomon said "Whatever, I still can't forgive him! Demanding to paint Lady Alexis nude, then claiming to report us to the police troopers…"
"Yeah, I understand but…" Aqua began but her phone rang and she answers "Hello?"
"Hey, it's me. Got a minute?" Penny who was the one who called said "I have some interesting news."
"What is it, Penny?" Aqua asked her.
"Someone who received a change of heart contacted me on the Phan-Site." Penny told her. "Said he wants to meet with you to discuss another person who needs a change of heart."
"Another change of heart?" Aqua asked confused.
"You're better off talking to him in person if you want specifics." Penny told her. "All I know is his target is a terrible person…And that it might complicate things if he posted the name online."
"Right, understood." Aqua said nodding.
"I'll have him wait for you at Beacon Station after school. The guy's name is Sunstreaker." Penny told her which surprises Aqua and Gatomon.
"Sunstreaker… That's Lysandre's student." Gatomon said.
"I told him to approach you. Good luck." Penny said
"Thanks Penny." Aqua said and hangs up then gets a notification in the group chat.
"I found out something insane about Lysandre." Uzi messages. "Seems like a student of his offed himself when he couldn't speak up about Lysandre stealing his work."
"That's unforgivable." Aqua said in shock.
"That journalist was looking into Lysandre too." Alexis points out "It could be real."
"Someone died though." Uzi said "No one's talking about it… I bet it was covered up."
"I wonder if Zane has heard anything…" Alexis said "It'd be great if he could help us out."
"Ain't that asking a bit much?" Uzi asked "After today, he's probably gonna be on edge about us. Well anyway, Lysandre's still a big fat jerk! Let's meet up tomorrow. It'll be our first time at the new hideout."
"It's that passageway in Beacon, right?" Alexis asked "Got it. See you guys tomorrow."
Aqua nods and closes her phone. Gatomon concerned said "If the rumor Uzi just spoke of is true, there have to be other victims…"
"Yeah, and if anyone is going to tell us, it might be Sunstreaker." Aqua said
She begins to work on her workbench to craft some lockpicks and it improves her Proficiency to being skilled.
Well stakes are up and the group have to work fast, but what does Sunstreaker want with them? Find out soon.
