Chapter 6: The Invitation

The Frozen Gang were all hanging out inside the castle while being shaded from the heat that was outside. They were all just minding their own business when Kai came in with an announcement to make. "Your Majesty, you have received a letter.", Kai said as he held an envelope in his hand. Elsa got up from her chair and went over to Kai.", Thanks, Kai. Whose it from?", Elsa asked as she took the letter from him. "It doesn't say who it's from which is very odd.", Kai said. "That is odd. Anyway, thanks.", Elsa thanked her servant. "You're welcome, Queen Elsa.", Kai said as he left the room. Elsa tore open the envelope and opened the letter. "What's it say? What's it say?", Olaf asked eagerly. "Olaf, please. It's her business. If she doesn't want to say who it's from, that's fine. It's probably just to let you know you have another boring meeting to attend with some royal dudes. Right, Els?", Anna asked. "I don't mind reading it to you guys. Here's what it says.", Elsa said as she began to read the letter. "Dear Queen Elsa. First of all, I would like to congratulate you on having a successful first year as Queen of your kingdom. I continue to hear great things about the progress you have made in Arendelle and how much you value its citizens, which include your family. Also, how you use your incredible magical abilities to protect the kingdom when it's in danger. I also wanted to take this opportunity to once again sincerely apologize for my youngest brothers' crimes that he committed last Summer during your coronation. As of this day, he is still being punished and will not see the light of day again for the next couple years. In order to make peace with you and Arendelle, I would personally like to invite you and your family to come here to the Southern Isles so that we can reestablish the relationship our kingdoms once had before you and your sister first met Hans. We all respected your parents and mourn their losses with you as we all respect you which is why we would like to do business again. I understand if this is uneasy for you to do, but me and my other 12 brothers insist that you all come. We hope to see you soon. Sincerely, King Anders of the Southern Isles.", Elsa read. Everyone in the room couldn't believe what they were being offered after hearing the contents of that letter as they all wanted nothing more to do with Hans, his brothers, or the Southern Isles ever again. "Well, you can forget that. There is no way we would ever go there after what happened with Hans.", Anna said. "Wait. So, we're talking about THE Hans. The Hans that proposed to Anna and left her to die. The Hans that tried to take the throne of Arendelle for himself? The Hans that tried to kill Elsa after lying to her about her killing Anna? THAT Hans?", Jacob questioned with anger rising in his voice. He obviously never knew Elsa until a few months after the Great Thaw and never met Hans himself. But after hearing a very detailed story about what happened last Summer, he hated Hans with every inch of his being. Especially because he tried to decapitate his girlfriend. "Yep. That's the one. The very one that I fell for and gave my heart and trust to, only for him to betray me and my family.", Anna said. "Well, you forget how naïve you were for agreeing to marry the guy after only knowing him for half a day.", Sven said. "Yeah, well I've learned a lot since then.", Anna said. "You met Kristoff the next day.", Sven also pointed out. "Yeah, but Kristoff is good while Hans is bad.", Anna said. "No matter what, there's no way in Hell you're going no matter what they say. Right, Elsa?", Jacob asked. Elsa thought for a moment before she ultimately decided. "I think we should go.", Elsa said. Everyone couldn't believe what her answer was. "What? Why the hell would you say that?", Anna asked in disbelief. "Look, Anna. Recently, I've been looking through Mother and Father's old records of the places they did business with and they did personally speak very highly of the Southern Isles. Of course, this was back when the old king and queen were still alive there. But it did seem like they were decent people. And I think it's important to keep good connections to help improve Arendelle's status and economy.", Elsa said. "But we're talking about the place that spawned the one who broke my heart and tried to kill you. And he would've if I didn't stop him.", Anna said. "I agree, Els. I think it's a bad move. Trust me, if I ever lay eyes on Hans again, I would beat him to a pulp after what he did to you.", Kristoff said with anger. "I'm with you, man. I want at him too after what he did to Elsa.", Jacob joined in. "Guys, I appreciate your concern and I understand your anger. But I think you're all jumping to conclusions too fast. You're judging the king and the other princes of the Southern Isles before knowing more about them. Just like everyone was quick to judge me when I let loose my powers which were unstable. I honestly believe we should all give them a chance. And we have nothing else going on this weekend, so this weekend would be a perfect time to do it. Don't you trust me?", Elsa said. Anna went over to her sister and put her hand on her shoulder. "Of course I trust you. Maybe you're right. JUst because one of the royals of the Southern Isles was a bad egg. It doesn't mean all of them are. And that king sounds like a decent fellow in that letter. If you really want to do it and think it would be good for business, I'm with you.", Anna said. "Us too.", Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf all said in unison as they walked over to the Snow Queen. Jacob stayed where he was as he still wasn't sure what to think. "Jake? How say you?", Elsa asked her boyfriend. "Well, I don't know if it's the best idea, but I trust your judgement, Elsa. I'll always be with you.", Jacob said as he joined his friends. "Then, it's settled. We'll head out for the Southern Isles tomorrow.", Elsa said.
