Into The Depths of Stone

The next day…

"Mmm," Gavin hummed as he started to wake up, slowly opening his eyes as he did so. When he did, he saw that he was looking directly into the valley of his mother's cleavage, causing him to blush a bit and wake up a bit faster as his eyes widened a little. 'Damn, I know I should have expected this to happen,' He thought as he looked at her cleavage some more, before he started to slowly sit up, taking note that his mother was still asleep as he did so and wincing with soreness from the bruises from the previous day. 'But still I get surprised when it does,' He continued with a shake of his head, before he turned to look at the window. "What time is it?" he muttered quietly as he looked at the edge of the shade, where he saw that the sun's rays were shining through a slightly, putting a little light into the room. "Huh, looks like it just became morning," He continued with a short hum.

'Didn't think I'd get a full night of sleep after what happened yesterday,' He thought to himself, before he turned to look at the curtain next to the bed. 'Probably stayed up for about an hour last night just thinking about what the hell I've gotten myself into,' He continued as he reached forward and grabbed the curtain, before he gently pulled it to the side.

He saw that Rouge was still fast asleep, with her having turned her body under the sheets so that her face was facing towards their bed. 'Man, she's pretty,' He thought as he looked at her with a bit of awe. 'And to think, we're bonded together. Incredible!' He continued, before he blinked a couple times, his eyebrows rising a bit. 'Wait, what does this bond entail exactly? Is it just a metaphor for something? Or are we, like, stuck together forever? Or what? What does it mean to be "bonded" to a Titan?'

As he sat there, he felt the need to use the bathroom, and he slowly pulled the sheet back so he wouldn't wake his mother. 'What does it mean to bond with a Titan?' He asked again as he slowly moved his legs off the bed and set his feet on the carpeted floor, before he pulled the curtain closed again. He then quietly stood up, causing the mattress to move a bit, and slowly opened his suitcase to pick out some fresh clothes to wear for the day.

He ended up putting on a gentle green short-sleeve shirt with a tiger on it, sitting on top of its feet with its tail wrapped around one side. A pair of red shorts with blue edges sat on his waist and legs and a pair of white socks with red foxes on them were on his feet. He then grabbed his keys and wallet from his right pocket of the shorts he'd worn the previous day, before he reached into his left pocket to grab his cell phone.

As he did so, his hands brushed against the amulets in the pocket, and he hummed a little as he grabbed them along with his phone and pulled them out. "Can't believe Titans stay in these things," He muttered as he looked at them while getting up, before he pocketed them and quietly headed over to the nearby car door. "They don't quite look like they'd hold powerful beings," He continued as he unlocked the door and stepped out, quietly shutting the door behind him before he entered the other car.

He then spotted a bathroom, headed over to it, and went inside, having seen that the occupancy sign currently read "Open." Once inside, he locked the door, and went to relieve himself in the toilet, which took about twenty seconds to do. Then, he washed his hands, still thinking about Titans and their amulets as he did so, before he left the bathroom and headed back to the train car they were in.

When he got back, he saw that Rouge and his mother were both starting to wake up, his mother rolling over onto her back and yawning loudly, while Rouge sat up and stretched out her arms while yawning somewhat loudly. "Good morning you two," Gavin said somewhat softly as his mother rubbed her eyes and then sat up, stretching her arms as she did so. "Sleep well?"

"I slept fine honey. Thank you for asking," Rouge replied with a warm smile directed at him as she stretched some more before she got out of the bed, revealing her human-like feet were covered in tan skin and had pink nail polish on her toenails. "Best sleep I've gotten in 160 years," She continued as she started to stretch her back, while Tsunade yawned again and looked over at the window.

"Sorry it's been that long since you've been out," Gavin said apologetically to her, looking away from her as she wiggled her hips around a bit, not wanting to be a pervert.

"Aw, thank you honey!" Rouge replied with another smile as she wiggled her hips once more, before she stretched her legs and wings. "But you don't need to apologize. It wasn't your fault," She continued.

"I know, but I still feel bad that you were kept in that amulet for so long," He said to her, with Tsunade smiling upon hearing him say that, before she got up and closed the curtain so she could change her clothes. "Speaking of which, mom, I thought of another question regarding Titans," he continued, turning his attention to the curtain.

"I figured you might," Tsunade replied with a tone of amusement as she changed her clothes. "What is it?"

"You said that Titans bond with Seekers," Gavin began. "What does that bond entail exactly? What does it do?"

"It allows a Seeker to control a Titan," Tsunade explained. "When bonded with a Titan, you can give it verbal commands, and it will obey them. You can also communicate with them through your mind to give commands," She continued.

"Okay, does that mean we can see each other's memories?" Gavin asked with an arched eyebrow.

"No, but sometimes when you bond with a Titan you can see glimpses of the future," Tsunade replied, causing his eyes to widen greatly. "But they move through your head so fast that more often than not, you don't know what you've seen, or understand it."

"I'm sorry, you can WHAT?!" Gavin exclaimed with shock. "You can see the future?!"

"It's not very often and it's hard to understand what you see," Tsunade replied as she closed her suitcase before she pulled open the curtain, revealing she was wearing an outfit matching the one she'd worn the previous day.

"Okay, but you're still seeing the future!" Gavin said with a gesture of his hands as she stepped out, allowing Rouge to go over and shut the curtain behind her. "That's a thing?!"

"Yes," Tsunade replied simply, causing his eyes to widen even more. "But only when you bond with a Titan," She continued as she started to put up Rouge's bed.

"What the fuck?!" Gavin cursed with shock. "What the actual fuck?!" He continued. "I can't believe this! You can actually see the future! That's a thing!" He repeated as he held a hand to his head, while Rouge pulled the curtain back, revealing she'd taken off the tank top and pajamas and had put her boots and gloves back on.

"Sure is honey," Rouge replied as Tsunade finished putting up her bed, before she headed over to her and Gavin's bed and started to put it away as well. "Done it a time or two with my old Seekers. I don't really understand how it works, but we both got flashes of the future. Never could tell what they were," She continued as she sat down on her seat next to the folded up disguise she'd worn the previous day.

"Dear Kami!" He said as he slowly walked over to the seat and sat down on it, resting his elbows on his knees and his hands onto his forehead once seated. 'I can't believe this!' He thought with shock. 'You can have a chance to see the future when bonding with a Titan! I didn't think anyone could see the future, since it's so uncertain!' He continued, before he leaned back in his seat and rubbed his face. 'Kami what have I gotten myself into?'

'Looks like he's having some difficulty processing all this,' Tsunade thought as she finished turning the bed back into a seat, before she smiled slightly. 'Reminds me of when I first found out about Titans,' She continued with a glimmer of nostalgia in her eyes, before her stomach growled with hunger, as did Gavin's and Rouge's. "I'll get us some breakfast before we stop," Tsunade said to them before she left the room.

"Hmmm?' Gavin hummed with confusion as the slamming door snapped him out of his daze. "Where'd she go?"

"Getting breakfast before we stop," Rouge replied as she looked out the window, having lifted the shade a bit so she could see more.

"We're stopping already?" he said with surprise and confusion. "But we're not in Italy yet, right?" He continued as he looked out the window, where he saw that lots of trees ran along the side of the track, with a large valley below them.

"No, we're in Austria," Rouge replied. "The conductor came in last night while you were sleeping and told us that we're making a stop in Obervellach. They apparently picked up some engine trouble during the night, and they have to make repairs there," She continued with a tiny smirk appearing on her face for a few seconds, with Gavin missing it as he looked outside.

"Oh!" He said with surprise. "I see. Did he say how long we'll be stopped there?" He asked her, with her smirk disappearing as he turned to look at her.

"No, but if I had to guess, it'd probably take a day or two," She replied. "Don't worry honey," She continued.

"I won't," He said with a shake of his head. "I'm just not sure now what we're going to do while we're in O-ber-vell-ach," he continued, messing up his pronunciation of the word a bit.

"Mmmm, I have some ideas," Rouge replied with a smile as Tsunade walked in with some boxes and drinks.

"And what would those be exactly?" Tsunade asked her as she locked the door behind her.

"Oh, going around to see how the sights have changed since I was last there," Rouge replied as she set the boxes and drinks down. "Look at the latest fashion and jewels, and maybe find a place to tan myself," She finished.

"I see," Tsunade said as she sat down across from them as they opened their boxes to reveal some large pancakes in them. "And how do you plan on not being spotted?" She continued with a raised eyebrow as they started to eat, with Gavin and Rouge finding that their drinks were orange juice.

"With the disguise I used yesterday," Rouge replied as she ate another bite of fluffy pancake.

"Hmph! In the morning, you're more likely to draw attention to yourself with that disguise while in Obervellach," Tsunade said with an amused chuckle. "It'd be better if you went back into your amulet while Gavin goes around the town."

"I'm not going back in there now," Rouge replied with a firm shake of her head. "The only way I'm going back in there is if I'm defeated or there's no other way for me to escape a situation," She continued. "I was thinking he and I look at areas at the edges of the town while I was in disguise. That way there'd be much less risk of us getting spotted."

"Not a bad idea," Tsunade replied as she finished up her second pancake and moved on to her third, as she'd gotten one more pancake, while Gavin and Rouge finished their first ones. "Although, why would it be only you and my son?" She asked her.

"Simple blondie," Rouge said before she drank some more juice. "I want to get to know my Seeker a bit better, and that's a private thing for me to do," She continued, causing Gavin's eyes to widen a bit with surprise, while Tsunade's brows furrowed a bit. "I'm sure you understand."

"I do," Tsunade replied firmly as she looked at her analytically. 'She can't be an evil Titan since I know for a fact that my son isn't evil. But still, there's something about her that feels off. I can't quite put my finger on it,' She thought as she continued to look at her for several seconds, before she spoke. "And I'll let you do that," She continued, causing Rouge to smile. "But just in case you encounter a strong Suit from the Organization, let me give you something."

At that, Rouge's smile shrunk a little, while Gavin gained a surprised and very confused look on his face. "What is it mom?" He asked her as she got up and headed over to her suitcase, setting his plastic fork down in his now-empty box.

"You'll see," Tsunade replied as she moved her hands along the inner edge of her suitcase, before she felt a thread that was thicker than the others making up the lining and smiled. She then pulled on the thread hard for several seconds, causing it to become taught and then snap, before she ran her hand along the edge again. Her fingers came into contact with a hole that had been opened up by the pulled thread, and she slipped them into the hole, with them soon touching something cool and smooth.

'What is she getting for me?' Gavin thought as he watched his mom smile as she pulled her arm out of her suitcase, revealing that it was clutched around something, with a silver necklace sticking out of her fingers and hanging down towards the ground. 'Is that a necklace?' He questioned, while Rouge arched an eyebrow.

'Interesting place to hide one,' Rouge thought as Tsunade closed the suitcase and headed over to them. 'But not a bad one,' She continued with a slight shrug.

"This is Venovire, a Titan I found a few months ago during a Foundation expedition," Tsunade said to Gavin as she sat down and set the object in her hand on the table. "She is a formidable Titan and will listen to you well," She continued as Gavin and Rouge looked at the object on the table.

Said object was an amulet the size of his palm, and was shaped like a four-sided diamond that was made of dark stone-grey metal. The top edges of the diamond were flat, with the middle and bottom sides widening outwards. A large oval purple gem sat on it, reaching from the very top of the amulet to right above the bottom edges, with a thin gold ring running around it. Five lighter grey claws wrapped around the bottom edges, and two long and thick dark stone-grey claws extended from the thick bottom, with them both curving inwards a bit, the shorter of the two curving at a slightly sharper angle than the other. The chain connected to it right above the gem.

"You're giving me Veno-what?" Gavin asked as he reached out and took hold of the amulet. As soon as he did so, the amulet started to glow a dark purple, causing their eyes to widen, especially Gavin's. Then, a flurry of moving images started to run through his head. In them all, he saw himself and another Titan, which was presumably Venowire. The Titan smashed a Redcap in one image with a large chunk of rock, turning it into red energy, while in another she was sitting with him on a cliff. In another, she smashed some boulders that were heading towards him and Rouge, while in yet another she was standing in front of him and some other people protectively. The images kept moving on, going faster and faster, with him not being able to understand what all he was seeing, before he saw what looked like a sea-green humanoid squid with blue orbs on its long head firing a brilliant purple bolt of electrical energy at him, with what appeared to be Venowire blocking it with multiple large chunks of earth.

Then, the images stopped, and he gasped in shock, while the amulet stopped glowing.

"What'd you see?" Tsunade asked him as he stared at her for a couple seconds, before he looked at the amulet in his hand. "Could you make any of it out?"

"No, not really," Gavin replied with a bit of frustration in his voice, rubbing the side of his head with his free hand as he spoke. "It went by so fast! The only things I could make out were me and what I presume was Venowire," he continued. "And there was this…squid being. I don't know if it was a Titan or what, but it was attacking me and Venowire was protecting me," he finished.

"Interesting," Tsunade said, with Rouge having an interested look on her face while she leaned back in her seat and rubbed her chin. "Very interesting," She continued. 'A squidlike Titan? I'll have to let the Foundation know about this,' She thought before she spoke a few seconds later.

"Well, you shouldn't worry about what you saw for now," She said to him, causing his eyebrows to rise up quite a bit. "You don't know when it'll happen, and you'll run yourself ragged worrying about it. It's best if you don't think about it. You'll be a lot better off it you do," She continued.

"Easy for you to say! You've dealt with this before!" Gavin replied with a bit of frustration. "What if what I see happens tomorrow?! Or next week?! Or today?!" he continued, getting a bit hysterical as he spoke. "What if-"

"THUMP!"

"Ow!" Gavin hissed with pain as he rubbed his forehead, which his mother had flicked with a finger a bit hard. "What was that for?" he asked her, while Rouge looked at her with surprise.

"To stop you from making yourself miserable," Tsunade said to him firmly. "Don't focus on what you saw Gavin. Don't do what I did," She continued, causing a confused look to appear on his face. "When I bonded with my first Titan, I saw bits of the future too. I spent weeks trying to figure out everything I'd seen, and it affected me both socially and physically. In the end, my mentor had to help me realize that worrying about the future I'd seen all the time brought nothing but trouble. So please, don't worry about it," She finished with a bit of a pleading tone, resting a hand on his shoulder as she spoke.

"You struggled with it too?" He said with surprise.

"I did," She replied with a nod. "And that is why I am telling this to you now, so you don't make the same mistakes I did," She continued. "You understand?"

"Y-Yeah, I do," Gavin replied after a few seconds. "I'll try not to think on it," He continued, causing her to smile a bit.

"Good," Tsunade replied, removing her hand from his shoulder a few seconds later. "Moving on, you're now bonded with Venovire," She continued with a factual tone, putting some emphasis on the latter half of the new Titan's name so he'd remember it. "That means she will listen to you."

"So I have three Titans I can use now?" Gavin asked her as he pulled out the other two amulets and set them on the table before him. "Rouge, Venovire, and…" he trailed off as he stared at the manta ray-shaped amulet. 'Shit, what was this one's name?' He questioned as he looked at it with slightly furrowing brows.

"Kreutalk, but you cannot use it yet," Tsunade replied with a shake of her head. "You are not bonded to it, and I'm not really sure you should try to bond with it at all," She continued. "Kreutalk is aggressive and unpredictable. And it belonged to DeFoe, who is just as aggressive as it and even crueler than it is. It will more than likely resist bonding with you," She finished.

"Okay, thank you for telling me that," Gavin said with a grateful smile after a few seconds with a nod, before he looked down at Kreutalk's amulet and stared at it for about ten seconds. Then, he reached out and grabbed it, before he closed his eyes.

"Honey, you heard your mother," Rouge said to him with a cocked head. "You shouldn't try to bond with Kreutalk. It's not a good idea," She continued, with Tsunade nodding in agreement.

"Well maybe, but you gave it to me, and I want to give Kreutalk a chance," Gavin replied. "I mean, while I have it I should try to bond with it at least once," he continued, before he concentrated on the amulet, while Rouge arched her eyebrows a bit at his response, with Tsunade's lips growing a bit tight.

"Are you there Kreutalk?" He whispered to the Titan inside the Amulet. "Do you hear me?"

Almost immediately he got a response in the form of a loud screech in his head that faintly resembled that of a hawk's, causing him to wince. "Okay, so you do hear me," he continued with a slight tilt of his head, while it hissed somewhat like a snake. "That's good. I was wondering if…you'd like to bond with me."

Barely had the words left his mouth before he heard a much louder screech in his head, causing him to wince again. "And why sshhould I do that, when I enjoyed being with DeFoe for a week," A smooth and aggressive sounding female voice with a hint of cruelty in it said in his head. "Ahhh, sssssuch a cruel man! Ssssso aggressssssive!" Kreutalk continued with a bit of glee.

"Well, I mean, based off what I've witnessed and what my mother has said about the man, I can't disagree," Gavin replied with a bit of uneasiness. "As for why you could bond with me?" he continued, an uncertain look appearing on his face as he wracked his brain for ideas.

"Well, what's more unpredictable than you bonding with his worst enemy?" He suggested, having remembered that his mother had said Kreutalk was unpredictable. "And you'd be helping the good guys for a change?" He added with a bit of a hopeful tone.

"Pah! Good, bad, doessss not matter to me!" Kreutalk scoffed aggressively with a short hiss. "All I care about isss caussing havoc! Asss for unpredictability, that isss true," She continued with a short hum. "My former Ssseeker certainly wouldn't expect me to fight for a Foundation Ssseeker."

"Exactly!" Gavin replied with a nod, causing Rouge and Tsunade's eyes to widen slightly. "He'd never see it coming!" He continued with a smile. 'Is this actually going to work?' He questioned with surprise.

"Heheheh!" Kreutalk hissed with a laugh. "No, he would not! Oh, how I'd love to sssssee hiss faccce when he sseesssss me fighting for you! And the other Kreutalk-oh, I'd love to sssssee his faccce too!"

"So he has another Kreutalk," Gavin muttered to himself. "Good to know," He continued. "So, does that mean you'll bond with me?" He asked her.

"Mmmmmmmmmmmm," Kreutalk hummed in thought for about thirty straight seconds, before she spoke. "Yessssssss, I will," She said, causing a large smile to grace his face. "For now," she continued, which caused his smile to shrink a bit and a confused look to appear on his face.

"'For now?'" Gavin repeated. "Why only for now?" He asked with confusion, cocking his head as he spoke.

"In time, you musst prove you can be aggresssssive enough for me," Kreutalk replied with a short hiss. "If you do not, I will unbond with you, and you will never usse me again," She continued with a chuckle and a larger hiss.

"O-kaaaay, I guess that makes sense," Gavin said with a shrug while rocking his head back and forth as he thought over what she'd said. "Hopefully I can prove to you that I'm aggressive enough," he continued. "And thank you for giving me this chance to bond with you, Kreutalk," he finished as he opened his eyes and looked at the amulet with a smile.

"Well how about that?" Rouge said with a surprised look. "You bonded with her."

"Yeah, I did, for the most part," Gavin replied with a nod as he took the amulets and pocketed them, causing his left pocket to bulge a bit. "She told me I'll have to prove to her that I can be aggressive enough so I can continue to use her. Otherwise, I won't be able to use her again," he continued as he looked at Rouge, who arched an eyebrow with intrigue upon hearing that.

"Impressive," Tsunade said, causing him to look at her. "I didn't think you'd be able to bond with Kreutalk because of who her previous seeker was. But you proved me wrong. Well done!" She continued, causing him to blush slightly at her praise. "But be careful with her," She warned him with a firm look. "Kreutalk are known for being unpredictable, so watch her closely when you summon her."

"I will," Gavin replied with a nod, before Tsunade looked at her watch and then outside. "Don't worry."

"Looks like we're not far from Obervellach now," Tsunade said as she looked at the valley, before she looked at Rouge. "I'd get your disguise on now before the conductor comes to tell us when we're arriving and how long we'll be there," She continued.

"Alright blondie," Rouge replied with a nod, before she grabbed the disguise and started to unfold it. As she did so, she swayed her hips back and forth a bit, causing Gavin to blush a bit and look away.

'Hmm, she's flirty too. Why didn't I bring my Holotome with me on this trip?' Tsunade thought with a slight groan as she watched Rouge smirk at Gavin's response, before she slid the coat over her wings and buttoned it shut. Then, she put the hat on, making sure it was in its proper position before she sat down.

And as soon as she sat down, the door to the car opened, and the conductor stepped inside. "Good morning ladies and gentleman," The man said with a smile. "I wanted to inform you that we'll be making a long stop at Obervellach Station for repairs. We should be there in about fifteen minutes and we'll be leaving there hopefully by 10 tonight, if the repairs go well," He continued.

"Alright, thank you for letting us know," Tsunade said to the man, who smiled before he turned and left the car, shutting the door behind him. "Okay, so we'll meet back here for dinner at 7," She told them. "Make sure to be on time, and be careful while out there," She continued firmly. "We don't know if the Organization is here in this town or not. If they are, try to stay out of their way and contact me so we can plan our next move. Fight back only if absolutely necessary, understand?"

"Yes mom," Gavin replied, while Rouge smirked from behind her trenchcoat.

"Whatever you say, blondie," Rouge said to her as she pulled up the shade completely and looked out the window. 'I cannot wait to get there!' She thought as Gavin looked out the window as well, while Tsunade looked at her analytically some more before she too looked out a window. 'I need to get to my babies!'

The three sat there in silence, looking out the windows as the train went, before it started to slow down, while the trees surrounding the tracks disappeared. This gave them an unobstructed view of the valley they were in, and they saw multiple large farm fields on either side of the tracks, with several houses near them.

A few more minutes passed, before the train slowed to a stop at a somewhat small gray-brick station that sat on the edge of the town. "Alright then, time to go," Tsunade said as she got up, with Rouge and Gavin getting up as well. They then left the room, and stepped off onto the platform, which appeared to be empty except for the conductor from their train.

The three headed over to a large open archway that sat to one side of the station building, with a wall on the other side of it that wrapped around a two-story house, and stepped through it. They then found themselves standing at the edge of a large busy street lined with shops and a few houses.

"Okay, remember, meet back in the train car at 7," Tsunade told the two of them, before she hugged Gavin. "And stay safe," She continued as he hugged her back, before they let go about ten seconds later.

Then, she turned and headed off to the left, but no before grabbing an English-translated map from a nearby map stand set up for tourists. "Okay, so, where to first?" He asked Rouge as he grabbed a map and opened it. "The Groppenstein castle? The Falkenstein Castle? Or what about the Parish Church St. Martin?" He suggested as she looked at the map with him.

'Hmmm, looks like the town's grown a fair amount since I was last here,' She thought upon looking at the map's points of interest. 'But its layout is pretty much the same as 160 years ago,' She continued with a smile. "How about we go here?" She suggested as she pointed at a spot on the map.

"There's nothing on the map there but forest though," He replied while furrowing his brow as he looked from the map to her.

"Ah, but there is something there besides forest," Rouge said with a large smile. "Something rather special," She continued, causing him to gain a curious look.

"Really? What is it?" He questioned with curiosity, cocking his head as he spoke.

"Hmph! You'll find out soon enough," Rouge replied with a small chuckle, before she started to walk away from him.

"Hey! Wait up Rouge!" Gavin said to her as he hurried after her, tucking the open map under his arm as he went. "Where are we going?" He asked her upon catching up to her.

"You'll see honey," Rouge replied with a smirk, before she wrapped her arm around his and pulled him close to her, causing him to start sputtering and blush a decent amount.

"What-What are you-" Gavin stammered, before she put a finger to his lips.

"Shshshshshshshhhh!" She gently said to him, stopping him. "Don't worry honey," She continued with a warm smile that sent a shiver down his spine. "I just want to stay close to you as I get to know you," She finished as they walked along the street, with her slowly removing her finger from his mouth as they went.

"O-kaay," Gavin said with surprise and confusion. "So, ummm, uhh, what can you tell me about yourself?" He asked, saying the first question that had popped into his head.

"Oh, I can tell you many things about myself," Rouge replied with a smile as she guided him around a corner and walked past some people. "As long as you tell me about yourself in return," She continued, looking at him as she spoke. "Understand?"

"Sure, that sounds reasonable," Gavin said with a small nod as they walked. "What would you like to know?"

"What's your full name?"

"Gavin William Woodring Senju," He replied, causing her eyebrows to rise up a little. "And what is your full name?" He asked.

"My name is Rouge," Rouge answered simply with a smile. "I don't have a last name and I don't need one, like the other Titans," She continued, causing him to widen his eyes in surprise, raising his eyebrows as well. "So what do you do?" She asked him, prompting him to gain a confused look.

"Wait, so you don't have a last name?" He asked her, prompting her to nod. "Okay! Didn't expect that," he replied with a gesture of his free arm. "As for what I do, I'm currently attending college and high school," He continued.

"Really?" Rouge said with surprise, looking at him with a bit of doubt on her face as they walked past a fountain. "How's that possible? You some sort of genius?"

"Ehhh, not really," Gavin replied while wiggling his head side to side a bit. "I just…worked hard and managed to skip a few grades," he continued, while thinking, 'And it didn't hurt that I already knew the material for the most part due to certain circumstances.' "The only reason I'm still in high school is because history is kicking my butt," he said with a frown. "All my other classes are college classes."

"Sounds like you're a genius to me," Rouge replied with an arched eyebrow.

"I'm not a genius," Gavin said firmly. "I'm just a regular 15-year-old boy who just managed to skip a few grades, that's all," He continued.

"You're not a regular boy anymore," Rouge replied with a shake of her head as they rounded a corner and entered an alley, causing him to look at her with confusion. "You're now a Seeker, remember?"

"Ohhhh, right, right, forgot about that," Gavin said with a nod, a look of realization on his face. "Man, it's going to take some time to get used to that, knowing I'm now part of some secret society," He continued.

"I'm sure it will," Rouge replied. "So what's your favorite color?" She asked as they walked, passing by another fountain and a statue of a man as well upon exiting the alley.

"Um, purple and green," Gavin replied, having been momentarily thrown off by the change in subject. "Green was my first favorite, and then purple joined it," He continued. "What's yours?"

"Pink," Rouge answered. "But I like a good combination with pink, not pink on everything. It shouldn't overpower somebody when they look at you," She continued with a shake of her head. "Green and purple are nice colors too," She finished as they reached another corner and went onto a street to the right.

"They are," He replied with a nod, a smile on his face.

"So what are your hobbies?" She asked him with a curious look as they walked.

"Oh, I like to read books about animals and myths, watch TV, and do jigsaw puzzles," Gavin replied, the smile still on his face.

"Rather simple hobbies," Rouge said with a slightly arched eyebrow. "And what is 'TV?'" She asked him.

"Oh! It's an amazing invention humans made decades ago!" Gavin replied with a smile. "With it, you can see so much stuff, from drama shows to romance to comedy to documentaries! It's such a cool human invention!" He continued as he looked at her.

"So, it's a human device that lets you see things?" Rouge asked him, prompting him to nod.

"Yeah!" Gavin replied with a large nod. "Real and imagined."

"Interesting," Rouge said with a glimmer in her eye. "Very interesting."

"Yeah, it's one of the many things humans have made that I can say I am impressed by," He replied, before a curious look appeared on his face. "So, what are your hobbies?" he asked.

"My hobbies?" Rouge said, blinking her eyes a few times as she looked at him, before she looked ahead, the two walking around a couple heading in the opposite direction. "Hmmm, well, I love to fly, see new places, living luxuriously, and finding jewels," She finished, a large smile on her face as her eyes gleamed.

"What kind of jewels?" Gavin asked with curiosity.

"Any that are of good quality," Rouge replied quickly. "The color and shape doesn't matter to me, nor does the type of the jewel," She continued.

"Okay, that's interesting," Gavin said with intrigue. "Guess you're a jewel expert then?"

"More of a gem-enthusiast," Rouge replied with a large smile as they turned onto another street that was heading out of the town.

"Alright," Gavin said to her, before he fell silent as he waited for her to ask her next question.

"So, you have a girlfriend honey?" She asked him with a curious look on her face as she glanced at him while they reached a desolate backstreet that had a forest covered slope on one side, and the backs of buildings on the other.

"Um, n-no, no, I've never had one," Gavin stammered back in surprise, before a questioning look appeared on his face as they headed across the street to the slope. "Why'd you ask that?" He continued as she let go of his arm and started to head up the slope, with him following right behind her with ease, as the slope was rather gentle.

"I was just curious to know which lucky person was dating my handsome Seeker," Rouge replied as they went further up the slope, with the trees getting a bit thicker as they went. "There is no way that a boy as handsome as you isn't dating someone," She continued, causing him to blush. 'He's gotta be lying.'

"Well, it's the truth," He told her with an honest tone in his voice. "Never dated anyone," He continued as he stepped over a fallen tree, before he saw her stop and take off her hat. "Woah! Woah! What are you doing?!" He asked with alarm. "You'll be seen! What if one of those Organization people are here?!"

"Calm down honey. I won't be seen," Rouge replied as she set the hat on a nearby branch and unbuttoned the trench coat, before she took it off. "We're far enough in the forest for me to do this," She continued as she folded the coat and grabbed the hat before she held it out to him, while he turned to look behind him, where he saw that the trees were obscuring their view of the town. "Will you carry this for me?" She asked him, prompting him to turn his head back after he'd said "Oh" upon seeing the trees blocking the view.

"Um, sure," He replied, reaching out and taking the clothes from her hands. "So, where are we going exactly?" He asked her as she started to move forward up the slope again, prompting him to follow her once more.

"A special place that I know of, handsome," Rouge said to him as she hopped over a tree trunk, unable to fly due to the tree branches being too dense above them. "One that holds some important things," She continued with a large smile.

"What place? Why is it special? And what important things does it hold?" he asked her, his curiosity having grown significantly from her words.

"You'll see, honey," Rouge replied with a smirk as she jumped on top of a large boulder and then onto the ground on the other side, while Gavin walked around it, with a couple branches hitting him in the face as he went. "You'll see soon," She continued while thinking 'Wait just a little longer, babies. Momma's coming!'

"I hope so," Gavin said as he stepped over a small burrow. 'I wonder how those Organization people are doing?' He thought as they walked, hoping they weren't nearby.

Meanwhile…

Defoe sat in a black car driving down an empty road, holding a phone to his bandaged head as he looked straight ahead.

"You lost the Titan to who?!" A gruff male voice that sounded quite intelligent yelled at him, causing him to grit his teeth.

"To Tsunade's son, Professor," he replied.

"Interesting," The Professor said with intrigue. "I am very disappointed in you, DeFoe! Not only did you lose the Bat Titan, but you also lost the Kreutalk I rewarded you with last week! Losses like these will not be tolerated in the Organization!"

"I know sir! It won't happen again!" DeFoe replied with a shake of his head. "I assure you," he continued.

"You had better not," The Professor said firmly. "I will send you your next mission shortly. Do not fail me again, DeFoe," The Professor growled, before he hung up.

"I will not fail you Professor," DeFoe growled angrily as he closed his phone and pocketed it, clenching his hand into a fist as he did so. "The next time we meet, Gavin Senju, you will fall!" he stated firmly, his eyes narrowing while an evil grin graced his face.

An hour and a half later…

"How close are we to this place, Rouge?" Gavin asked the bat as they walked through the forest.

"Very close honey," Rouge replied as she walked, a look of discomfort on her face, as she hadn't been able to fly even once on their trek due to all the trees. "In fact, we're nearly there," She continued as the ground became flat as they moved forward, a smile gracing her face.

"Thank Kami!" Gavin said with some relief upon hearing that, as his legs were hurting slightly from the amount of hiking they'd done, since they hadn't stopped at all during their hike. 'I wonder what this place is?' He thought for the umpteenth time as they headed through the trees, which were starting to decrease in number. 'A cave? A small shed?' He continued as they walked, with Rouge speeding up a bit as her smile grew larger and larger. 'A lake?'

As they walked, Gavin felt himself walk through something warm and slightly solid like jello, causing a shiver to run down his spine and making him stop moving. As he did so, a silvery, transparent barrier appeared right behind him, extending upwards and outwards from the ground like a wall, before it disappeared a second later. "Woah! What the hell was that?!" He exclaimed as he ran a hand over himself, his other still holding onto the hat and trench coat.

"An invisible barrier set up by my old Seeker," Rouge said as she headed onwards, causing his eyes to widen. "It prevents people from finding the special place we're heading to, allowing only me and my Seeker inside," She continued, causing his eyes to widen greatly as he turned around. 'Good to see it's still up,' She thought happily.

"Seriously?!" he said with shock, before he reached his free hand out, with it hitting the barrier two seconds later and making it appear. "Holy shit!" He cursed. "Holy shit!" He continued as he moved his hand along the barrier, pushing on it slightly as he did so, which caused his hand to go through it.

"This is so fucking weird!" He said as he watched his fingers move on the other side of the barrier, before he pulled his hand back through it, watching as the barrier rippled for a few seconds before it disappeared. "But really cool too!" He continued as he turned and headed after Rouge, who had continued onwards without him.

"So, um, what exactly is the special place?" He asked her as he caught up to her, as she was now standing still, a smile on her face and a hand on her hip.

"Look ahead, and you'll see it," She replied, causing him to gain an excited look on his face along with surprise before he turned to do just that.

And when he saw what was in front of them, his eyes widened greatly. "Wow, it's beautiful," he said with awe, with Rouge nodding in agreement with a large smile.

A large clearing sat before them, with a lone building sitting in the middle of it. Said building was that of a short church. It was one story tall, made of wood, and grayish white in color, with a two and a half story tall belltower at the far end of it. The roof was covered in dark gray shingles, and multiple arched glass windows sat in the walls, with 10 feet tall pink rose bushes sitting alongside them, appearing to have not been trimmed in quite some time.

"How has this not been found yet?" he asked her as he continued to look at the church.

"Honey, the barrier, remember?" She said to him with roll of her eyes.

"Ohhhh, riight!" Gavin replied with realization. 'That's right, you just told me about it. My bad!" He continued, before she jumped into the air and flew off towards the church.

"Man, I really gotta get better at remembering stuff," He said with a sigh as he headed towards the church at a somewhat brisk pace.

'The place looks pretty stable,' Rouge thought as she reached the church and flew over it, noticing that the paint was gone in several places, and several shingles were gone from the roof. The belltower had several long vines running up along its walls, and a couple shingles were gone from its conical roof. The winged bat on the top of the tower had lost all its paint, with only a pink piece of glass in the shape of a heart sitting in its chest. 'Hasn't collapsed at all. The barrier seems to have been modified to prevent weather and animal damage,' She continued, while Gavin looked at the building as he walked around one side of it, the grass reaching up to his thighs.

He soon reached the front of the church, and saw that the double front doors were shut. Said doors were dark brown in color and had a pointed arc at the top of them. The handles were silver in color and ring-shaped, with dark black heavy metal hinges on the edges of the doors.

"I wonder how the inside will look," Gavin said as he looked at the doors, before he reached his free hand out and grabbed the left door handle. "I hope it's not horribly rotted," He continued as he started to pull on the handle.

"I doubt it will be, honey," Rouge said as she landed right next to him, causing him to jump a bit.

"Sweet Kami Rouge! You startled me!" He replied, causing her to smirk while his heart raced a little. "And why do you doubt it?"

"My old Seeker seems to have modified the barrier protecting this place," She explained. "Most of the damage I've seen appears to be from age, not weather or animals," She continued. "So there's a decent chance that it won't be rotted."

"He modified the barrier?" he repeated with surprise. "That's amazing! I wonder how he did it."

"I don't know, and I don't really care at the moment," She replied, surprising him a bit more. "I just want to go inside."

"Um, okay," He said with surprise, before he turned his attention back to the door handle he was holding. "Let's go inside then," he continued as he resumed pulling on the handle, grunting when the door didn't move an inch. "Come on!" he groaned as he pulled hard on the handle.

For a few seconds, the door didn't move at all. Then, with a loud "SQUEEARKKK!", the door began to slowly swing open towards them. Its hinges squealed with a thirst for grease as they moved after years of unuse, causing Rouge to cover her ears with her hands. Stuffy warm air that hadn't moved in just as long a time ran across their faces, with the scent of dust and dryness reaching their noses.

"Damn this door's putting up a fight!" He grunted as he pulled on the door harder, before letting go of it once it was fully open, panting slightly as he looked at the open doorway. "Alright, it's open," he continued as they looked at the somewhat dark interior of the church.

"Good," Rouge said with a smile, before she headed towards the doorway and stepped inside slowly, looking around as she did so.

"How's it look Rouge?" He asked the bat as he headed over and stood in the open doorway, looking inside once he reached it.

From what he could see, the church consisted of one room that contained six wooden pews in it, with three on each side by the windows, which seemed to be covered up mostly by dark cloth. A large alter sat at the back, with him being unable to make out any more details due to the darkness. The only other detail he could make out was that the floor was made of smooth light brown wood.

"The floor feels solid," Rouge replied as she walked around, keeping one hand on the wall as she headed towards one of the windows. "And it's rather dusty in here," She continued with a wrinkle of her nose as she stirred up another cloud of dust with her feet. "Not surprising since it's been abandoned for at least 100 years."

"That long?" Gavin asked with surprise, arching his eyebrows as he took a tentative step inside, with the wood not making a sound when he put his full weight on it, much to his relief.

"At least," She replied with a nod as she reached the window and grabbed the cloth on it, before she yanked it off, causing the morning sunlight to shine through the window and illuminate the room a decent amount. The sunlight revealed that the window had colored glass in the shape of a large full moon, with the other phases of it going around it in a large circle. The light shining through it revealed that the pews had nothing on them except for dead bugs and lots of dust, and some black metal sconces sat on the walls, holding wooden unlit torches in them.

"Wow, that's beautiful," He said with awe as he stared at the glass, while Rouge walked over to the next window and pulled down the cloth on it, revealing it had the design of a large white cross in it and illuminating more of the room.

"They are rather nice to look at," Rouge replied as she let the cloth sit on the ground, before he sneezed as a large cloud of dust hit him, having been stirred up by their movement. "Bless you," She said, before he sneezed again a bit louder.

"ACHOO! Thanks!" Gavin replied before he sneezed a few more times, stirring up more dust as he moved to the opposite side of the church and pulled off the cloth on the nearest window, revealing that it had the same moon design on it as the other window. He then moved on to the next window and pulled the cloth off it, revealing it had the same cross design as the opposite window, while Rouge pulled the cloth off the third and final window in the wall.

Said window had the design of a large shining orangish yellow sun with wavy rays extending from it into a blue sky, and when Gavin pulled off the cloth off the last window in the wall by the pews, he found that it had the same sun design on it. "Man, whoever made...Achoo!...these windows did a…Achoo!...great job!" he said as he looked at the windows, before he turned to look at the back of the building.

"They were made by a man in Obervellach before I was sent back to my Amulet and left 160 years ago," Rouge replied as she headed towards the simple wooden stage sitting along the back of the building. On said stage was a large elegantly carved wooden table that had a 3 ½ foot tall wooden statue of Jesus on it. Two narrow alcoves sat on either side of the table, with the one on the right having a small table on it. An elegant red and pink vase sat on the table, with dead flowers in it, while the walls making up the wall of the alcove was made of gray stone. In the other alcove was nothing at all, except for a statue of a large bat with outspread wings and closed mouth hanging from the top.

"Wow!" Gavin said with surprise as he looked at the windows. "That's amazing!" he continued, looking from the window back to Rouge, who he saw was heading towards the alcove with the bat statue. "Why're you heading over there? There's nothing there to look at," He asked her with confusion appearing on his face.

"Hmph, that's what you think," Rouge replied as she reached the alcove and reached up to the statue, prompting him to arch an eyebrow and head over with intrigue. "Watch," She continued as she grabbed the bat's wing and pulled down on it, causing it to move and revealing that it had a hidden hinge on it.

The jaw of the bat fell open as a result with a soft "Thunk!", revealing a hidden ring embedded in the back of its mouth. Rouge reached her finger out and wrapped it around the ring, before she pulled it hard. A low rumble was heard from the nearby wall, along with the sound of creaking and groaning gearworks and pulleys, surprising him and making Rouge smile more. The brick stones in the wall below the wall then started to slowly swing back as one, revealing a hidden doorway had been underneath the statue.

"A secret passage?!" Gavin exclaimed with shock as he stared at the opening doorway, which had a set of stone steps behind it that were going down, with a large cobweb hanging down from the ceiling.

"Yep!" Rouge replied with a nod and smile, before torches burst into life on the walls of the stairs, making him jump. "Oh good, that still works too," She continued as she looked at the torches, before she started to head down the stairs.

"Holy shit!" Gavin cursed with shock as he headed after her, looking at the passageway with awe as they went. "This is amazing!" he continued as they descended deeper and deeper, with him hearing the door shut behind them as well. "Did your previous Seeker build this?" he asked Rouge with curiosity as he ducked to dodge another cobweb, before he sneezed a few times from the dust.

"He sure did!" Rouge replied with a nod. "Took him ten years to build it all," She continued as they reached the bottom of the stairs, which had a large gray wooden door with a dusty diamond-shaped handle on it sitting in a rock wall.

"It only took him ten years?!" Gavin exclaimed with shock as she grabbed the handle and turned it, causing it to squeak loudly with rust. "How?!" he asked her with great confusion while she pushed on the door, causing it to squeal a bit as it swung forward on rusty and dusty hinges.

"Part of this place was already here as a natural cave," Rouge explained as they stepped through the now-open doorway, entering a large room about the size of three semi-trucks that was made completely of gray rock. "My old Seeker just took what he found, and adjusted it to fit his needs," She continued as they looked around the room, with her voice now echoing around a bit.

The room had a few small stalactites hanging from the ceiling, while the mostly flat floor had a few bearskin rugs on it that looked like they'd seen better days, as patches of fur were gone, showing their skin. A couple beds capable of holding about one and a half people each sat against two of the walls, with them looking rather moth-eaten and having bits of cotton sticking out of them. Several now-lit torches lined the walls, illuminating the room and a hallway at one end of the room that was about as wide as a Volkswagen Beetle. A large set of bookshelves that were completely empty of everything but dust sat near one of the beds, and a large table laid on its side on one of the rugs, two of its legs broken off and laying on the ground next to it, while a small chest sat to the right of the other bed.

A couple of thick nails sat embedded in one wall, while a large gray door with black hinges sat in another wall between the beds. The door had a large heart-shaped insert on the middle of it, with two silver metal pieces in the shade of outspread bat wings holding half of a heart sitting at the ends of two long slits in the door.

"And what were those needs exactly?" Gavin asked with curiosity as he looked down at the bearskin rug he was standing on. "What was his profession? And his name?"

"His name was Gregoire Moreau, and he was a laborer who specialized in stonework," Rouge replied as she headed over to the gray door and grabbed one of the metal pieces. "Can you come over here and help me open this?" She asked him.

"Oh! Um, yeah, I can do that," He said as he looked at her, before he walked over to her. "So what do I need to do?" he asked her.

"Grab the other piece and push it towards the middle," she replied, prompting to say "Okay" before he grabbed the metal piece and started to push it, with Rouge pushing the other piece well.

The pieces of metal resisted their pushing quite a bit, causing them to let out small grunts as they pushed hard on them, before they slooooooooowly started moving towards each other. "Come on!" Gavin grunted as he pushed harder on the metal, causing it to slide forward and downward a bit quicker. "Get! In! There!" He continued, before he felt the metal piece slide into place in the insert with a slightly loud "Click!" prompting him to remove his hand from it.

A few seconds later, Rouge's piece slid into place as well, and she removed her hand as the two pieces slid outwards for about a foot, revealing the grayish silver metal shafts connected to them. Then, it spun around clockwise with a loud rumbling, squealing, and grinding of metal gears, stopping right-side up after rotating once before it slid backwards.

A loud "THUNK!" rang out once it slid all the way back, before the door started to shake a bit, causing dust to fall off it in large clouds, which caused the two of them to start sneezing repeatedly.

"Achoo! So…Achoo!...what's in…Achoo!...there?" He asked Rouge as the dust flew over them, while the door slid completely into the wall and then stopped moving. Darkness was all that could be seen behind where the door had once stood, and the air coming out felt a bit stale as well.

"Achoo!...My precious things! My babies!" Rouge replied as she sneezed again, before she stepped though the doorway with an excited look on her face.

"What could she mean by that?" he questioned with a heavily furrowed brow as he followed her, seeing her stop and look around at the darkness. 'Does she have some precious jewelry? Precious clothes? Furniture? Books?' He thought as Rouge hummed with a bit of confusion.

"Hmm, that's odd. The lights should be on right now," She said with confusion and intrigue as she looked around, before she took another step forward. When she did that, she felt the stone underneath her foot sink down a little, causing her eyes to widen, before the sound of turning gears reached their ears.

"Um, is that good or bad?" He asked her, before a burst of flame appeared on their left, catching their attention. The flame quickly spread across the wall in a straight line, revealing that the wall was curved and that the room was rather big, about the size of a Hummer. It hit a rectangular pillar running from the ceiling to the floor, and four torches burst to life, while the fire continued onwards across another wall. It lit up more torches on another pillar, before running across another wall. Then, they saw fire run around a domed ring in the center of the ceiling, helping illuminate the room. "Wooooow," Gavin said with awe as he stared at the room.

The room was round in shape, and the floor was the same as the one outside. Three of the walls had several large square openings in them, with dusty pink cushions inside them, and firelight shining out from behind them, presumably from a hidden trough. In the center of the room was a round pillar that reached up to his waist, with a large square stone slab with bats carved on them sitting on top. On top of the slab was a very large purple cushion that had some cotton sticking out of one side.

Sitting on a few of the cushions were beautiful jewels of various sizes and colors, with two of them being part of a beautiful gold necklace and a bracelet.

"My jewels!" Rouge exclaimed with horror as she looked at the room, hurrying over to the alcoves and looking into every single one of them. She held her hands to her face with shock as she saw that almost all of them were empty. "They're gone!"

"So these are your precious things," Gavin said, before he blinked upon hearing her words. "Wait, you had more of these?" He questioned her.

"Lots more Gavin!" she replied as she moved around the various alcoves, examining each of them closely to see if any of her jewels were there. "We'd taken so many jewels and put them in this room that it glowed in the light," She continued with a purr as the memories ran through her head.

"Wait, wait, waitwaitwaitwaitwait," Gavin said with a gesture of his hand, dropping the trench coat and hat onto the ground as he spoke. "'Took' jewels?" He repeated with an arched eyebrow as he looked at her as she picked up one of the cushions and looked to see if there was anything underneath it. "Were you and your Seeker jewel thieves?"

"I prefer the term 'treasure hunter,'" Rouge replied. "We traveled all across the world, liberating jewels from museums and private collections to sate our thirst for them," She continued as she moved around, looking underneath each of the cushions for a clue as to where the jewels had gone.

"So you were jewel thieves," He said with surprise. "Wow, um, didn't expect that," he continued as he looked down at his feet, while Rouge smirked a bit at his reaction. "What were you known as?"

"Well, no one knew about me, but they called Gregoire 'The Bat,'" Rouge answered him, causing his eyes to widen.

"'The Bat?!' I just read about him three days ago in a book about mysterious and expensive thefts!" Gavin replied with shock. "You were his partner?!"

"You better believe it honey," Rouge said as she continued to look at the cushions. "Was his partner for over fifteen years. Helped him out in every single heist we did."

"That explains so much!" Gavin replied with realization. "You're the reason he was able to steal the world's largest pink diamond from its fortress in India without being detected by any of its 2,000 guards! And how he stole the Crown of Mary of Modena!"

"Hmph! Those were fun to liberate and take home," Rouge said happily as she turned her head to look at the last cushion in the room.

"Oh boy," Gavin said with a sigh, running his hand down his face as he spoke. 'I did not expect this at all!' He thought as Rouge walked over to the final cushion in the room, and lifted it up, revealing a yellowed piece of paper with words on it laying on the stone beneath it. 'My Titan's a jewel thief, and she doesn't think it's wrong, from what I can tell,' He continued. 'Oh what do I do now?'

"Well, once we find those jewels, we should probably figure out a way to return them to their rightful owners," he said a few seconds later as she read the words on the letter, causing her to stop reading and look at him with a frown.

"I'm their rightful owner, honey," She replied, speaking to him like he'd said something extremely stupid. "Gregoire's dead now, and I helped liberate them, so I own them."

"Mmmm, no, you don't Rouge," Gavin said with a slow shake of his head. "They belong to the people and organizations you stole them from," He continued as he headed towards her. "And I think you know that."

"No way honey! I got those jewels fair and square, so they're mine!" She replied with a shake of her head, her frown growing deeper as she spoke.

"Rouge, no they're not," Gavin said to her with another shake of his head and with a slight groan, before he walked past her and over to an alcove that was holding a large pearl that was the size of a golf ball, perfectly spherical, and a dark intense orange color. "They're someone else's things," he continued as he reached out and picked up the pearl to look at it, before he grabbed an old burlap bag and put it inside, holding it up to check it for any holes before doing so. "They need to be returned."

"No, they're mine! I got them fairly!" Rouge replied with a bigger frown on her face. "So hand over that Melo Melo Pearl," She continued.

"No! I'm keeping it on me so that I can give it to my mother so she can give it to the Huntik Foundation so they can return it to its rightful owner," Gavin said with a firm shake of his head. "And we'll do it the rest of the jewels here and with any others that we find that you stole all those years ago," He continued.

"Honey, final warning: give me the pearl, now," She stated firmly, setting the paper down on the cushion as she looked at him.
