Zoysite - hihi, Marco knows how delicious Ace is, but he won't eat!
Continuation of the last chapter, but Ace's POV again.
It appears it wasn't clear what really happened to the girl Marco took the necklace from, so I will try to clear it up in this chapter.
'Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh'
At the sound Ace snapped awake in bed before groaning as he heard a yell again, "It's too early to die loudly." he grumbled softly, turning in his bed and pulling up the covers to try and sleep again. After years of in the apocalypse you could only get by by making small jokes about death... and not let it get to you when someone doesn't make it, especially strangers. Inside he felt for the person he heard scream, probably thought early morning would be safest to make their path... which in the end it wasn't.
A sigh at the end of his lips he shuffled over more to Marco's side, blindly looking for the other to get a hug. "Marrrrr- Marrrcoooooooo~ wakeeee uuuuuuuuuuuuuuupppppppppp." Not that the other slept, but he needed the other to act awake for a moment. "Marrr, hugggg, kissyyyyy!" He whined still feeling around and shuffling to find the body, he couldn't really search for heat since Marco was stone cold.
"Huh?" He was patting the edge of the bed... But … did he move the wrong way?... A feel to his other side he felt the warm spot were he slept and a little further his edge of the bed, meaning...
"Marco?" blinking open his eyes he searched for a bulge under the blankets, but... no where.
"Did you fall out of the bed again? Silly Marco." And crawled to the edge, leaning over and already reaching over to tug at the zombie, only... he wasn't there either!
Okay okay, don't panic! Don't panic!
Keeping control of his breathing he got out of bed. Usually Marco didn't leave the bed and stayed there until he left or asked for a bottle of water, the blond was really helpful so he could stay lazy, able to teach the other to fetch him the water bottle. But even than he would return to lay with him. After staring at him for a solid ten minutes but we're ignoring that.
"Maybe on the balcony..." and now he said that, he did feel a little breeze. A small smile was on his lips at that as he slipped out of the room. On the rare occasion Marco would get up on his own, Ace found him on the balcony looking outside. It made him feel like maybe on those moment a little of his human Marco was there, enjoying the morning sun which the blond always liked to do.
At that thought he went to said location, the door open, so- "Marco, you scared me, dissapear- ring... like.. That..." He slowed down as he looked to both sides of the balcony, "not- not here? Marco?"
Okay, a little panic was setting in now! "Toilet! Maybe- yea!" And ran to the bathroom. The zombie had never peed before, but who knows!
"Marco!" He yelled opening the door, but- nothing! Nothing!
He ran around the whole apartment yelling the other's name before his eyes went back to the balcony, "o-oh no no no no no no !" Someone opened that door, and their front door was closed so it could only be Marco.
Barrering through the house he stumbled out and into the barrier of the balcony, bending over it and looking down, "Marco!?" What if he fell!? Oh god- he had seen zombies fall of buildings before, trying to go after voices of humans down below- THAT YELL! What if Marco tried to follow it!?
"Marcooooo!?" He called down again, desperately trying to see any moving zombie with a tuft of blond hair but he didn't spot anything, atleast... atleast he also didn't see any big red splashes on the ground below... which would mean something or someone fell.
On the verge of tears he ran back in and put his jacket and shoes on before he was hollering out and down the stairs. He had to find Marco. He had no idea how he was going to find the blond, the other had never left his side. Would he listen if he yelled for him? Run to him? Growl back? Could he even yell his name outside, it would attract other zombies? Where would the other even go! Did he follow other humans, was he maybe killed already? Was he following paths Marco knew and went to the mall or the field? Or did he wander aimlessly maybe even in places he never went before, did he stay outside of buildings or go inside too?
Sniffing he rubbed over his eyes, a little sob escaping as he was almost out, he didn't want to lose Marco, not like this. Not without a chance of goodbye even if to his zombie self. Not knowing what happened.
Reaching ground level there was no hesitation to throw open the door and run into the reception area, only to run straight into someone when he did.
"Ah-" he stumbled back and quickly went to his bat- How did someone get in here!? Did they take mar-
"M-Marco?"
Hmmmmmrr
"o-oh Marcoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" Tears escaped him and he barrelled into the other, hugging him tightly and sobbing.
Here he was! His boyfriend was still here!
"W-what are you doing down here- oh god- Marco! I thought- I thought I lost you!"
Oh how he loved this body before him, the cold and wetness not bothering him as he took in his lover. The arms raising to be around him and squeezing him with unnatural strength. The lips that came down on his hair, unmoving and only wetness coming from it as it stayed there. He loved this so much-
"Wetness?"
A tad confused he pulled back slightly to look at the other before stumbling back, "aah-" but quickly he was back there and pulling at the blond's clothes, looking him over, "What happened!? Why are you covered in blood! Are you hurt?"
His search was good, or well, he wasn't finding any wounds. "What happened MarcoOoOoO- Are those-? How did they get in here!"
Close to the front gate he saw the mangled body of a man, obvious bite marks on him and missing pieces of flesh meaning Marco had eaten of him.
Swallowing he tried to get closer but Marco blocked his way, holding him back and growling. Not at him but at the body and- oh another body...
That was weird, he was growling at them, Marco didn't growl a lot already, only really a bit when spoken too or that one time he attacked Alex, the man that tried to kill him for protecting Marco.
…
Oh... "Where they after me, Marco? Did they try to get into the house?"
Growl
Could he- see that as a yes?
Another step trying to take closer but he was stopped again. "I'm okay, Mar, you saved me." and leaned up to kiss his cheek. Even if the blond didn't, it didn't hurt to think like that. "I need to check the gate, if it's still secure."
It took a little bit but eventually he was let go and he made for the lock, seeing blood all over it. So Marco must have closed it, "Goodjob Marco." He smiled back before opened the gate again, looking everywhere before stepping outside, closing it to look at it.
"They hit it." he murmured as he hand went over dents, dents that weren't there on the last check, no blood on this side either and no streaks on the floor so they were dragged in. Meaning the kills happened inside. Going back in and closing the gate, another inspection showed no signs of trying to get out or another blood path of trying to pull themselves out so no trying to escape... So they really got in on their own? And Marco- "You really protected me? Protected the house?"
A smile came to his lips as he went over and once more hugged the zombie. "Thank you, I love you."
He wouldn't even be mad now that Marco killed and ate those humans, these people would have entered this place while he was asleep, he was defenceless, he wouldn't even have known anyone would have entered from the dents alone and thought someone had tried and left, he would be in his safe place with strangers without knowing. "Thank you." He whispered again, Marco holding him safe. His personal zombie guard dog and lover.
He felt a little push at him but assumed it was Marco trying to hug him but the motions just went wrong, nothing strange, he just tightened the hug. But it came again, and with a little groan too.
"What wrong?"
Blinked he let himself be pushed back, giving Marco the time to do as he wanted to. The arm staying outstretched for another few seconds even after he moved before the arm dropped and the other raised. Bringing something up with it.
"What- What's that?"
The item brought up was dripping with blood. The red liquid splattered all over the item and on Marco's hands, dribbling down slowly.
Still holding the item, Marco stepped closer, groaning again.
"What is it? Where did you even get that?" Glancing back he looked to the humans, was it something they had? Why would Marco even pick it up? He never picked up random things from the floor like this.
Upon inspection he noticed something weird and took a step towards the girl. There weren't any bite wounds. She wasn't full of blood like the other man, like how zombie's usually killed people and ate them, her bowels weren't laying out for all to see, her clothes even looked intact.
A shuddering breath however left him as he noticed... Tear-tracks on the girl's face, the eyes bloodshot and wide. Her neck- purple. Purple spots going all around, veins following it, and the only blood he could find was there too. Gashes along the purple spots, leaving it to flow into the jacket.
He swallowed, glancing down at the hands and yes, finger tips covered in blood. Slowly he went back to Marco, ignoring the item but taking his arms, looking at the ends of his sleeves and... blood streaks, obviously fingers dragging down.
Marco strangled this woman. The woman had fought desperately but in the end perished, not from a bite but from pure lack of air.
"Why... why would you do that?" He questioned more confused than anything else. This wasn't any zombie-like behaviour. Even if Marco didn't behave like a classic zombie most of the time, this was even strange for him. Even after her death she would have been a tasty treat for a little while, yet no bits.
Grrrr- hmmrrrrr- rrrrr- mmmmmhmhhhh!
At the insistent growling and pushing he looked back to Marco, the zombie desperately trying to tell him something. And once more the item, which he now saw was a necklace was pushed to him again.
"What do you want me to do? Do you want it?"
He slowly took it, trying to not touch the blood and reached for the clamps before moving it to put it on the blond. If the other wanted a necklace, well... sure...
But his hands were stopped and pushed back to him, more growling there.
…
"Is it... for me?"
Hrrr!
"O-oh... Thank you..." He whispered slowly, bringing the necklace back and looking at it. It was a beaded necklace. And now that the blood was starting to dribble off, it showed the beads itself where an actual shade of red too and it hadn't all been blood. These kind of looked like the ones he had-
A gasp tore from his throat and as he clutched the bead and brought them to his chest he also looked to the blond. "Did you remember? You- You know I had- I had a necklace like this?" Sure the beads were a bit smaller than the ones he had had, and the colour was a bit off, but it was still very close in looks. He had cried so much when he had lost it, Marco had even gone out again and re-traced their steps especially to look for it, to find the last memento he had had of his mom. Even if they didn't find it, he still treasured the memory and Marco going out to look for it even in the apocalypse.
Another groan was there and the zombie squeezed his wrists, raising them to be at his neck before lightly pushing and letting go, lightly pushing again and letting fo.
A small giggle escaped him through tears at the zombie trying to put the necklace on. And so, even with the blood still on the beads he brought the clips to the back of his neck and clamped it shut, releasing to allow the necklace to fall into place around his neck.
"T-tadaa" He smiled, "You like it?"
After a minute of silence the zombie walked over again, and held him, kissing his head silently.
"I love you, Mar." he whispered, with one arm hugging the blond, while the other touched the piece of jewellery. "Thank you." There may be a horrifying story of how the zombie acquired this, but he story behind why he got it for him took over everything and made this his new prized possession. A gift from his zombie boyfriend.
