After Red had passed away, Cooper gave permission to Dembe to go to the bathhouse. After Dembe was back from recovering in Spain, to his luck, the bathhouse was unlocked. He had expected it to be locked or shut down with Raymond's belongings in evidence somewhere. He went inside and looked all around, he found a letter that had Agnes' name on the envelope. He was surprised that Agent Nixon didn't find the letter and take it as evidence. Dembe gently picked up the envelope and looked at the empty bed. "I'll give her the letter for you brother. I'll go visit Harold, I'm sure he has already told her. Goodbye my brother, I hope you find peace with Elizabeth wherever you two are." He said into the air as if Red was sitting on the bed in front of him. He took a short inhale before he left the place as if he didn't want his emotions to get a hold of him.
Coopers House - Washington DC
Dembe got to the door and knocked and then stood there waiting for someone to answer the door.
"Dembe what a surprise… come inside." Cooper said from the other side of the door, he opened it for him.
Once Dembe walked inside "Where's Agnes?"
"She's at a sleepover. We decided it would be best for her to take her mind off of Reddington dying. You know how much she loved him."
"Raymond loved her as well. Speaking of Agnes, I found this at the bathhouse. I was going through Raymond's belongings. I guess it's a similar letter that he wrote for Liz." He said as he pulled out the letter with Agnes' name on it. "Can you give this to her, let her read it whenever she's ready to read it. Not a second before, it will be her choice."
"I can give it to her and I understand dembe. Is there anything else that I can do for you?" He asked the other man.
"No, I just came to drop off the letter. I have to go back to New York to go through the rest of Raymond's belongings and figure out what to do with his money. I still got the keys to the island. I might take Isabella and Elle with me. I have to speak to them about that."
"Well, it sounds like you're gonna be busy. I don't want to hold you up; but if you need anything you know where we are and you have Agnes' number and mine." Cooper said not want to rush the man that he knew for more than a decade out of his house, but he knew Dembe did have things to do.
Dembe hugged Cooper "I know, thanks for everything. It's been quite a ride." He said as he placed the letter for Agnes down on the kitchen island.
"You got that right, my friend. Good luck in wherever life takes you." Cooper said not knowing if he would see the younger man again.
"Thank you, and you too. Take care Harold." Dembe said as he went to walk towards the door.
"You as well Dembe." He has watched Dembe leave the house.
A few years later in Coopers house
Agnes came home from the last day of junior year of high school. She knew where the letter was that Pinky had written to her a few years back. She never really wanted to read it until now. She was curious about what could be in this letter, she knew that pops wouldn't interfere with her opening and reading it. She went in her nightstand drawer, searching for it as it was underneath some light blankets she keeps in there just in case she needs them during the night. She grabbed it and sat on the bed, taking a deep breath before opening it. The ink from the pen started to fade a little bit but she could still read it perfectly. She opened it and felt how wrinkled the paper felt after sitting in the drawer for a few years. She wasn't brave enough for the moment until now. She sat on the middle of her bed with the letter in hand, she straightened it out and then she began to read it.
Dear Agnes,
If you're reading this letter it means two things, one I'm dead or two I'm not and you're curious about me or what to do with your life. Maybe it's both of the reasons why you opened this letter, but I'm probably dead.
I want you to do whatever you want in your life Agnes, I would prefer you to choose not to be a criminal or a FBI agent. I'm not going to tell you or force you what to do with your life that's all on you. What I'm trying to say is that you can live whatever life you want. I just want you to be safe while doing it. Sorry that I wasn't there for most of your life under some circumstances, but know how much I love you Agnes. Your mother was the most important person in my life and when she had you; both of you became the most important people in my life. Family wise, Dembe's important as well. He knows everything about me, if you ever want to know anything about me when I'm gone you have him.
If I had another chance to fix some things I've screwed up I would. Maybe your mother would've never pushed me away from spending time with you, I get why she did but it wasn't right for me or you. I want you to remember all the good times we had together, including making chocolate cake. I hope you remember that trick with the mayonnaise. I tried to be there for you whenever I can, I hope you know that.
Whatever you decide to do with your life, don't forget to have fun. I will always be with you in spirit, guiding you. If you need anything you can just talk to me out loud by yourself or in your subconscious. Of course I wouldn't be able to respond but know that I'll hear whatever you say. I love you Agnes and I know you'll accomplish great things in your life. I'm proud of you sweetie, keep up the good word.
Love always,
Pinky
Agnes looked at the letter again and just sat there digesting everything that she had read. She ran her hand along the paper as she would hold onto it. She kept in the back of her mind to call Dembe someday to learn more about the man that she called Pinky. She got up and grabbed her mothers FBI ID badge and looked at it not knowing if she wanted to be in Forensics as a DNA sequencer or join the FBI like her mother. It was in her blood and DNA to be interested in the law enforcement field of study. She had to make a decision by the end of summer which would be there before she knew it.
10 years later...
Agnes got a place of her own. She got up when her alarm had gone off, she went to feed her cat Lily. After feeding her, she got dressed and grabbed her badge for her first day. She texted her fiancé Josh to tell him that she was going to be at work and that she'll see him later for dinner since he had already left for the day. She got dressed, she went downstairs to grab a plain bagel with cream cheese to eat for breakfast. Once she was done with her breakfast she brushed her teeth and then left so that she wouldn't be late.
She parked outside of the headquarters and used her badge to get inside the facility. "Agent Keen," Panabaker said, looking at Agnes as Pannabaker took over for Cooper after he retired.
"Yes?" She asked as she looked towards Panabaker
"I would like to introduce you to the team." She said as she stepped into the other room as she led Agnes to her co workers. Panabaker walked Agnes as Agnes saw a familiar face.
"Hi, I'm Agent Keen." She said towards the man
He stood up and smiled knowing that Agnes had followed in Liz's footsteps "I'm Aram. You probably don't remember me that much, I was a close friend of your moms."
"It's so nice to meet you Aram. Is there anyone else here that worked with my mom?" She asked curiously
"No, just Panabaker and I. The rest are new. Ressler retired, Cooper retired, a few people left."
Agnes nods "I lived with Cooper for a while. We can talk later, Aram." She said trying not to be rude
"Sure." He said smiling a little bit before going back to focus on the task.
Panabaker took her to the next team member "Hi, I'm Syia Malik." She said in her usual British accent. She never went back to work for MI6, she stayed to work for the FBI.
"I'm Agnes Keen." Agnes introduced herself as neither one of them had any idea that their mothers worked together. She's shook Syia's hand
She met a few more of her co-workers through the day as she was a Rookie in a homicide unit. There was no secret Taskforce that was involved with a specific criminal. After Raymond Reddington passed away the FBI never made a deal like that ever again. Of course they had made deals with criminals to be CI's but not for as long as Raymond Reddington.
Once Agnes went to her desk knowing that no one else was around her, she looked up at the ceiling "I did it Pinky, I know this was not what you wanted but it's in my DNA. I hope you, my father and my mother have found some peace." She said quietly into the air hoping that he would hear her like he stated in his dying letter to her. She knew who 'Pinky' was, she learned about him and her mother in Quantico. She didn't care that Pinky was Raymond Reddington when he was with her, he wasn't that man. He was a caring man who was always busy but alway made time for her when she needed him the most. That was who Raymond Red Reddington was to her. He was family and she didn't damn care what anyone thought of it. Hell she knew that he had protected her mother and even saved her from the night of fire when she was 4, if he didn't do that Agnes knew she wouldn't be around and alive today.
After her work shift she went to go visit Liz and Tom. She talked to them for a while and then she spoke of Pinky and how much he meant to her. Agnes knew that Liz and Red weren't in the best place when Liz had died but they did have some memories with Central Park a few days prior.
After an hour of spending with her parents at the cemetery, she drove home to go spend time with Josh and Lily. She wanted to tell him all about her day and how she got reacquainted with Aram.
The End
