Early the next week at Empire State University and Peter was doodling in his notebook in his large classroom unable to stop thinking about the recent revelations about someone who was like a close family friend as well as his aunt's boss. The other students were getting up and Doctor Connors called out "Mr Parker; are you still finishing writing down your notes or did you not hear me when I said that class was dismissed?"
Peter jumped out of his seat and flashed a nervous smile to snickers from the classmates to the stern look on Doctor Connors' face as he left with Debra and Grady.
"You alright Pete or is something on your mind..." Grady asked as he and Debra then joined Peter going out the door with Debra then giving Grady a look. "Oh yeah... Mr Negative and all such..." Grady muttered as Liz went to join them in the hall as they walked to the exit after their day of classes.
"Finding out that all these years; Martin Li has been a superpowered criminal and whether he's been corrupted or not... I still have to do something but not only is his power like out of my league but... I am going to FEAST to help Miles adjust to volunteering at the place that he runs and I don't know how I can handle that... Also Colonel Jameson and whoever is using Miles' criminal uncle's identity being loose... Also I'm still pretty much a fugitive for the first time since my first year..." Peter said letting it all out.
"Maybe if you have time... You can see about looking around FEAST or the offices... Find any clues or evidence as to what he does..." Grady suggests as Peter thinks it over.
"If you want to try that Peter then you have to be extra stealthy because if you're caught... How do you expect anyone to believe that Martin Li is a secret villian without evidence? Might as well accuse Santa of being the new Kingpin." Debra brought up as Peter was in thought.
"I help out in the offices enough that it should not raise suspicion..." Peter said as Liz put a hand on his shoulder.
"Be careful Petey and I wish I could help but I have to be there with Tiberius for an inspection of Doc Ock's facility... The retired bad guys there should be easier to deal with than my cousin..." Liz muttered bitterly as they felt sorry for her but when they got to the outside of the ESU building they saw a crowd gathered around the parking lot.
They were stunned as out in a black suit was none other than Harry Osborn wearing sunglasses with a smirk as he came up to them; "Peter Parker and Liz Allan... It has been too long..." Harry greeted them offering a hand as Peter let go of his stupor to hesitatingly take the hand; truth be told they pushed the bombshell of Harry running Brand aside as while they could tell that Harry would have a grudge against Spider-Man; Peter and Liz wanted to deal with the robots hunting after Peter first.
"How has it been Harry..." Liz asked awkwardly as Harry laughed as stood side by side with them as if they were old friends catch up which they technically were in a way.
"Dealing with my father's loss and grieving and having to come to terms with the fact that he wasn't the man that I thought he was... Still before he lost himself; he made some side businesses that I put together to form my own new legacy to redeem the Osborn name... So I have rebuilt things into something good like your family has so sorry that I overreacted and was an ass last time we met.." Harry answered as they were silent.
"Thanks Harry..." Liz managed to say as Peter gulped.
"So yeah the Brand Corporation which made those robots hunting Spider-Man..." Peter brought up as Harry sighed.
"An extra precaution against threats and I acknowledge now the good that Spider-Man has come but something happened with Mr Landon as well as Professor McCoy and he needs to turn himself in to explain himself. I don't want to believe the worst but he is making it worst for himself by running away; Mr Landon was very helpful in showing me the corporate ropes in building the new venture." Harry said as he then waved and went back to the parking lot. "See you all later..." Harry called as they then waved back.
"He is the head of the company that intentionally manipulated footage to frame Peter after leading Mr McCoy into a trap... I am not the only one who doesn't buy what he said; want to make sure that we are on the same page here..." Grady whispered and they all nodded.
It was later when Peter had a deep breath as he had made his way to the FEAST shelter; knowing that this place which usually brought him a sense of doing good was all this time being run by someone who it turned out had a secret identitiy of a super powered crime boss. He got in through the door as he was met with watching Rio and Miles talkin with eachother.
"You don't have to do this Miles; some more therapy can help..." Rio was telling him but Miles shook his head.
"No Mum; therapy has helped but I want to do this... I don't want to feel sorry for myself and this could be it... Could be just what I needed.." Miles reassured her causing Peter to smile and then there was May coming towards them.
"There you are Peter and just in time too; if you would be a dear and show Miles around the place and help him getting the donated clothes sorted out as well as get to know everyone here. I'm in charge as Mr Li is out for the moment." May greeted him and Peter smiled back thinking that he was grateful that he wouldn't have to deal with Martin at the moment.
"Would love to Aunt May." Peter smiled and tried to be cool with the handshake he offered to Miles who accepted it. "You are going to love it here at FEAST Miles; a lot of great people and you will definitely be helping out in a big way for their lives. Now there are some that you have to watch out for if you want to play a game of checkers or chess..." Peter said showing Miles into the main hall.
"One thing Miles; do you remember me? I remember having ran into you and your uncle playing basketball and then he was my work experience supervisor... Before he turned out to... Sorry bad memory..." Peter said apologetically but Miles' eyes widened.
"No problem and wow... Small world..." Miles laughed and Peter did as well; doing his best to bond with this kid who was going through a tough experience losing his father.
Liz was in the limo with Tiberius and their security detail; having to deal with her overgrown brat of a cousin made it a living hell. "Stone and Allan; practically siblings and we are going to see the place that your folks put Doc Ock in charge? Want to see if he made it into his new evil lair?" Tiberius asked Liz with that annoying look on his face as Liz just sighed as she leaned next to the limo door with her hand to her face grimacing.
Thankfully it was soon over as they reached the parking lot of the facility; Liz looked through the window to see the facility's employees loading some crates with cannisters inside. However the limo started to drive into some blasts stunning them as the security got them out of the limo.
There were the facility's security coming out as they saw that firing at the truck was a figure in a dark green bodysuit with a dark purple armoured jet pack like flying devices with shelled wings like a beetle as well as a dark purple helmet faceplate with yellow eyes.
During the confusion Liz had grabbed he bag and managed to make sure that no one was looking; with security taking Tiberius to safety as the beetle figure was firing a blaster weapon. Liz sneaked her way to an alley and braced herself as she had to quickly get changed behind a dumpster.
Liz was now flying out as Firestar as the beetle figure went to the truck with the cannisters and began taking them but had to drop them as Liz was sending fire blasts his way. "So; new costumed bad guy... Do you have a preferred villain name or should I just call you Beetle? You know what; Beetle it is? I would say more but my boyfriend is the quipster of us." Liz mocked the figure as she was dodging blasts and the Beetle tried to get away but Liz managed to sending enough blasts to the Beetle's pack to get it to overheat and the Beetle had to disengage it as it crashed down.
The security managed to catch the Beetle and disarm him as police came and Liz managed to fly away and managed to stop her flame powers so that she could sneak to the alleyway to get changed. Thankfully no one was able to notice where Firestar had gotten to. "Is it over... Was scared out of my mind..." Liz made a scene of shouting scared as she ran to them and the security went to check on her while the security team that went with her and Tiberius were helping to pick up cannisters.
"Good thing that these didn't break when that thief tried to steal them but thankfully Firestar managed to take care of this fiend." Octavius said making himself known as he helped pick up cannisters with his arms. Some were breaking and the security had them evacuate the parking lot so that specialists could be called to clean up the liquid into new cannisters in specialised suits.
"Ms Allan; Mr Stone... How are you both doing?" Octavius asked them both concerned as Liz tried to make herself polite looking to the former villain.
"Just fine since this was taken care of Doctor Octavius Sir." Liz replied.
"If only Firestar could stop for pictures from the press..." muttered Tiberius as Liz glared at him. "Still; as long as the unstable OZ can't do any harm and they can be cleaned up..." Tiberius then said as Liz's eyes widened.
"A yes; the late Mr Osborn had samples of OZ which had become very unstable and would have only became worse in the years since. Too dangerous to try and do away with and best kept hidden; these were to be sent to SHIELD for locking up and we can hope that the spilt samples don't contaminate the environment as who knows what the effects would be." Octavius said as Liz gulped as she thought that this could have been much worse.
Back at FEAST later; Peter whistled to himself with a satisfied smile as he was finishing up passing some clothes out. "That was a great day and thanks for helping me get started Peter; see you around later..." Miles was telling Peter with a goodbye motion and Peter decided to repeat it with a grin.
Peter decided to get his bag from upstairs in his aunt's office (where he had placed it) before starting to head out himself; he glanced outside the window of the office and noticed Miles going to the alleyway to his confusion. He then looked around him and sneaked out through the window and Miles thought he heard a sound but Peter quickly climbed up the FEAST shelter and changed. Quick enough for Miles not to notice when he looked up.
Peter got down as Spider-Man but ended up jumping at the back of Miles when he was done changing into the Prowler. "Wait... Miles Morales... Captain Davis' son... Your the Prowler..." Peter snapped out loud and Miles jumped in panic as he noticed Peter.
"Surprise... Needed a suit to do this and Uncle Aaron wasn't using the trademark..." Miles muttered as Peter was open mouthed beneath his mask. "Come on Spider-Man; I need to know what Mr Li is up to... Some hacker friends at school found sources that he was in contact with Colonel Jameson since... I need to find where he is keeping him and get justice for my father!" Miles said as he then jumped up to make his way through the window by using his special boots to walk up the walls as Peter crawled after him and pulled him out.
"How? You are like a kid and... Where did you get the gadgets? Not the point but do you even have powers?" Peter asked remembering the Spider-Man Miles that he had once teamed up with in his multiversal adventure.
"Well I have been working real hard in gym class and some extra training and I have these gadgets... How did you find me?" Miles asked as Peter groaned shaking his head.
"Training or not; this is no life for a non powered civilian and not a teenager! I had powers as well as my gadgets and I made mistakes and almost got myself killed... Do you expect to survive if you find Colonel Jameson and if Mr Li catches you... I thought that you would have learned your lesson from your last time playing kid detective all those years ago..." Peter groaned shaking his head but then there was the sound of a limo going to the parking lot and then they got up the walls but were caught with Martin and security finding them.
Their eyes widened and they both looked uneasy with him; "Stay here... Mr Li is dangerous..." Peter whispered to him as Miles' body language showed that he was not going to listen to the advice.
Peter then jumped down trying to think of something to de-escalate things as Martin got his powered arm onto Peter's shoulder but he reacted to his Spider-Sense enough to put it on himself as Martin grabbed him with his other arm...
