L

There was a soft knock on the door. So soft it didn't wake Jennie who was sleeping in my arms. Carefully, I untangled us, sneaking out of bed and covering up her naked body before cautiously and quietly moving towards the door.

I had my gun in my hand as I checked the peephole.

Ten stood on the other side.

I knocked twice on the door, letting him know I heard him.

Setting the gun down, I tugged on my pants, t-shirt, and cut.

With another glance at Jennie, making sure she was still sleeping, I opened our door and snuck out of our room, closing it gently behind me.

"Hey," Ten said, handing me a cup of coffee. I took it, keeping my eyes beyond him, on alert for anything suspicious. "How's she doing?" he asked.

"Good as can be expected," I replied. "She puts on a brave front, but she's scared." He nodded his head. "Less for herself, more for the kids."

"She's strong."

I took a sip of my coffee and leaned against the wall next to our door.

"What time are we rolling out?" I asked.

"About an hour."

Silence passed between us. Missions were always fucking risky, had the potentail to be messy as shit, but having Jennie there, or any of our women around during it, that changed things. It upped the stakes, and none of us were willing to lose any of our women.

"Taehyung isn't likely to be here," I said.

"You think?" Ten asked.

"Yeah" I took another sip of my coffee. "He's convinced we have her and the kids."

"Shit," Ten said. I could see him thinking. "We're gonna have to make sure Jack can time a call, telling him we know he's not there."

"Wouldn't his guys tell him we actually showed up though?"

"No," Ten said. "They're not going to have enough time, because we're taking them all out the moment we get there."

"And if Taehyung is there?" I asked.

"We still fucking take them out, but leave him alive so your girl can get her revenge."

I nodded my head.

"I gotta get Jack on the phone, make sure he's not gonna be balls deep in six different soul suckers while we're at this meeting."

"Doesn't matter," I said with a laugh. "You know he'll be able to get his dick sucked and complete the mission at the same time."

"Doesn't mean he should get to," Ten grumbled. "We can't shoot while we're getting our cocks sucked; he shouldn't be able to."

I laughed, because although it was ridiculous, it was also fucking acurate. I'd seen Jack getting his dick sucked under the table in the clubhouse while typing away on his keyboard, giving mission support.

It was fucking ridiculous.

"Same shit as Eunwoo and Miyeon," Ten grumbled further. "Sure as shit couldn't bring Carrie on this mission, but they can come. I had to listen to them fuck all night."

"You're welcome," Miyeon said. I looked to my left, seeing her and Eunwoo come out of their room.

"Did you at least enjoy the show?" Eunwoo asked.

"No," Ten deadpanned.

"Make ya hard?" Miyeon asked.

I snorted out a laugh while Ten flipped them off.

"Look," Ten said. "I get it. I let Carrie peg me." I spit my coffee out. "No fucking shame," Ten said, staring at me. "I don't give a fuck who knows it. It feels so goddamn good. So spare me with your bullshit dumb and dumber," he said, looking at Eunwoo and Miyeon this time. "I know it feels good, but no, listening to you go at it all fucking night does not turn me on."

"We're gonna go grab breakfast," Miyeon told us.

Wonwoo and Joshua appeared down the hall, and then Greaser did too.

"Will you bring me back something? And Jennie too?" I asked.

"No problem," Joshua said, always eager to please. "I'll text you what she likes."

"No need," he said. "I pay attention to all the old ladies since I work the bar."

"Sure," I said.

He was so desperate for their attention. He was a fucking puppy in need of a master.

"One hour," Ten said since we were all there.

We all murmured our agreement and went our separate ways. I slipped back into the room and found Jennie sitting up on the bed, her phone in her hand. She was speaking quietly, using her motherly voice.

When she heard me, her eyes lifted, a smile on her face.

"I'll be back tonight," she said to the kids. "I promise." I could hear their little voices, but couldn't understand them. "Of course, she's right here." She turned the phone so it was facing me. Their faces were pressed so close to it they probably couldn't see anything, but I waved at them anyway.

"Hey guys."

My heart hammered at the thought of them asking about me. It hadn't been very long, and I didn't expect any overnight miracles, but them beginning to trust me, asking about me. It meant fucking everything.

"Love you babies," she said, kissing at the phone.

She sighed when she hung up, letting the sheet she'd been holding up fall, showing me her chest. I loved that she had no shame about her body, loved being naked, letting me see her even when we weren't having sex.

"The guys are going to bring us back breakfast, and we're leaving in an hour," I told her.

"I'm nervous," she admitted.

"That's normal," I said, moving to sit on the bed. "But I'm not going to let anything happen to you."

"I know you won't."

She opened her arms, asking for the affection she needed. I wrapped her in my arms, holding her until she pulled away.

"I'm gonna shower," she said as she stood from the bed.

"I'll join you," I said, grinning at her.

"We only have an hour."

"I'll behave," I promised. The look on her face told me she didn't believe me. "I swear."

She didn't put up a fight when I stood and stripped out of my clothes, following her into the bathroom.

--

Jennie was finishing her shower as I stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped. The knock on the door had me on alert, even though I was sure it was Joshua with our food.

I glanced through the peephole before opening the door.

"Thanks," I said, taking the bag and two cups from him.

"No problem."

I closed the door just in time because when I turned around, Jennie was standing there, wrapped in one of those tiny hotel towels.

"That smells good," she said, striding towards me and grabbing the bag.

"Are you feeling better?" I asked her, sitting on the bed with her, watching her tear open the bag.

"I'm still nervous," she admitted. "Worried about the kids. Even though I know I don't need to be." She said the words before I could. "I know no one there will let anything happen to them."

"We're not sure if Taehyung is actually going to show up."

Her eyes widened, pausing with her breakfast sandwich halfway to her mouth. "Really?"

"As far as he knows, we never got out of the clubhouse. We think he's going to send a team."

"Okay," she said. She looked at me as she took a bit of her food, waiting for me to continue.

"I'm not sure what Ten's plan is, but we're gonna have to time shit well and get Jack to call Taehyung and confront him about not being there," I told her. I paused to take a sip of my coffee, make sure she didn't have any questions. "We're going to kill all of them if they're not Taehyung or Tex."

"Okay," she said. I could tell she wasn't comfortable with the idea. The violence is never easy on the women. They understand it. The only one who loves it is Rachel.

"You'll be hidden the entire time."

"Why?"

"You're only here incase Taehyung does decide to make an appearance." She was silent. "Finish eating. We need to be ready in a few minutes."

--

We piled into the van, the same way we did yesterday, and then we were off, going to the meet up spot.

We all had our guns out, and Ten was driving slowly, keeping his eyes peeled for scouts, anyone who could alert him that we were coming.

"Cuts off," Ten said when we got closer. We shrugged them off and pulled ours masks on. It wasn't something we usually did, not caring about anyone knowing we were the ones that put them down, but in this instance, we couldn't risk one of them telling Taehyung before we had a chance to take them out.

"Look sharp," Ten said. "We're here."

He pulled under the overpass, backing in, making sure we could get away.

"Joshua, you're staying here with Jennie," Ten said. "Use this." He reached behind him and handed him a listening device. "Listen to what we have to say. As soon as we confirm Taehyung isn't there, get Jack on the phone and have him call."

"He's gonna comment about Jennie and the kids not being there," I said.

"I already spoke to Jack about that. He's got a picture ready, proof she's in the van."

"Incoming," Eunwoo said.

I could hear the rumble of the bikes before I saw them.

"Six," Ten said. He couldn't see them, but he could count them.

I watched through the front window and saw them come in, rolling to a stop across from us.

"No Taehyung," Ten said.

With that, everyone climbed out of the van, except Jennie and Joshua.

"Where's Taehyung?" Ten asked.

"Where are his woman and kids?" the leader asked. His patch said Bozo. Jennie hadn't mentioned him, and I wondered if he sent a bunch of newly patched brothers and prospects because he knew it was a trap.

"In the van," Ten said. "But the deal was he came."

Bozo's phone rang.

"Yeah?" he said. "No." I had no idea what question he answered. He said a few more yes's and no's, still leaving me wondering what he was talking about."

"Taehyung get his proof that his woman and kids are in that van?" Ten asked when Bozo hung up.

"Yes."

"He around to do this exchange or not?" Ten crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back slightly. He was still fast as fuck and could have his weapon drawn before Bozo.

"No, he had business to handle down in Nevada."

My ears perked up at the mention of Nevada. We all fucking knew he was in California. He was trying to bait us into outing ourselves, letting them know we knew where Taehyung actually was.

"More important than getting his wife and kids back?" I asked.

"He sent his most trusted men to do it," Bozo said. I couldn't help the snort that I let out. None of these guys were anywhere near ranking members of the MC. He didn't send them to pick up his woman and kids; he sent them to get slaughtered.

"Well," Ten said. "Looks like this exchange isn't happening."

"The kids are leaving with us."

My anger radiated, and I clenched my fists. He gave zero fucks about his wife. The woman who gave him his children. It was no secret he was an abusive piece of shit, but hearing it come from someone else, his men who knew he gave no fucks about her pissed me the fuck off.

Ten's signal was slow, only alerting us and not them.

In second flat we all had our guns drawn, shots ringing out, bodies hitting the ground before any of them could draw their guns. Their lack of preparedness and how slow they were was just further proof they weren't prepared for this meeting.

"We gotta go," Ten said,

When we got back into the car, Jennie was white as a sheet. I worried she'd seen too much.

"We gotta go, right fucking now," Joshua said. "The clubhouse is under attack."
