Chapter. 3

One Of The Day's Of All Time: Part 1

Jaune was huddled in a far flung corner of the Bullhead, wishing he could've walked to Beacon instead. Thankfully, he had remembered his motion sickness medicine, but all that did was prevent him from loosing his breakfast, he still felt every drop and dip of the Bullhead.

A bit a head of him, Yang was currently gushing about Ruby being accepted in two years early – and inadvertently suffocating her in her generous chest.

Jaune smiled at the sight, remembering when Saphron would do the same with him.

Squeezing out from her sisters embrace, Ruby frantically looked for something to distract her sister, and her eyes fell upon the huddled form of Jaune.

Jaune, in turn, waved with a queasy smile, inadvertently bringing the two sister to him.

"Are you alright Jaune?" Yang asked in a surprisingly soft tone as she knelt by and rested a hand on Jaune's shoulder.

"N-No." Gritted out Jaune. "M-Motion sickness…"

Ruby took an immediate step back, but Yang stayed right were she was.

"Would you like me to rub your back?"

"…That be nice."

And so, for nearly the rest of the ride to Beacon, Jaune was balled up on his side while laying on Yang's lap as she gently rubbed his back – with Ruby looking on awkwardly.

Alas, nothing gold can stay…

…as Jaune's medication wore off near the end of the ride, forcing him to rush towards the exit of the Bullhead, trying desperately to not hurl.

"Poor Jaune." Yang sighed.

"Yeah…" Agreed Ruby.

The Bullhead landed, and rocketing out was a frantic Jaune – looking for a nearby trashcan. Yang and Ruby looked on in pity, until Ruby was distracted by all the different weapons.

In her excitement, Ruby turns into a starry-eyed chibi version of herself. "Ohmygosh, sis! That kid's got a collapsible staff! And she's got a fire sword!" She tries getting closer, but Yang pulls her back by her hood, changing her back to her normal self. "Ow! Ooww!"

"Easy there, little sister." Yang calls. "They're just weapons."

"'Just weapons'?" Ruby exclaimed. "They're an extensions of ourselves! They're a part of us!" She swoons. "Oh, they're so cool!"

"Well, why can't you swoon over you own weapon?" Yang asks. "Aren't you happy with it?"

"Of course I'm happy with Crescent Rose!" Ruby transforms Crescent Rose into its scythe form and cuddles the giant death instrument like a newborn. "I just really like seeing new ones, it's like meeting new people, but better…"

Yang playfully pushes Ruby's hood down her face. "Rubes, come on, we talked about this, you promised you would go and try t make some friends of your own."

Ruby pushes her hood out of her face. "But… why would I need friends if I have you?"

"Because I'm not always going to be there for you, Rubes."

"Are… are you going to leave me?" Ruby asked in a small voice.

"Of course not!" Yang bent down and rubbed the top of Ruby's head. "I'll never abandon you, Rubes, you know that!"

It was at that moment, a group of Yangs friend surround her and dash down the path.

"Hey! What are?" Yang yelled. "Rubes! Wait there… I'll be back! Hey! Who touched my hair!"

Ruby, dizzy-eyed and spinning from Yang's sudden abduction, wasn't in a good frame of mind to reply intelligently. "Wait, where are you going?! Are we supposed to go to our dorms? Where are our dorms? Do we have dorms?" She stops for a moment, still reeling. "I don't know what I'm doing…"

Ruby then falls back into a luggage cart, sending said luggage flying as she cratered towards the ground.

A moment later, a shadow envelopes her fallen form. "What are you doing?!"

"Uh, sorry!" Ruby calls as she gets up on her hands.

"Sorry?!" Snaps the shadows owner. "Do you have any idea of the damage you could have caused?"

The shadows owner was a flat chested, porcelain skinned, girl who stood five foot three, in four inch heels, with a sylphlike build and an angular face. She has pale, iceberg blue eyes and her long silvery hair is pulled back into an off center ponytail on the right side of her head and pinned with a silver, icicle shaped tiara. She also has a faint scar running vertically down her left eye and face.

She wears a thigh length dress that gradually goes from a white to a pale blue at the hem. A small piece of black lace sits in the front of her neckline and the hem of her dress is scalloped and stitched to resemble snowflakes, with layers of white tulle under her skirt. Over her dress, she wears a bell sleeved bolero, with the same color gradation as her dress on her sleeves, which is lined in red with a ruffles collar. On the back of her bolero is the emblem of an angular and pointed snowflake.

She also wears a small apple pendent on a silver chain and thin, rectangular silver earrings. Her knee high, wedged heeled, boots are white and higher at the back than the front. Thy have a small silver decoration across the top of the foot and are lines in red. A thin white sash is tied around her waist with a pouch attached to the back.

"Uuhhh…" Ruby replies intelligently as she holds a case.

"Give me that!" The girl snatches the case from Ruby and opens it to reveal its contents. "This is Dust – mined and purified from the Schnee quarry!"

"Uuuhhh…"

"What are you, brain dead?" The girl asks as she holds out a vial of red Dust and shuts the case. "Dust! Fire, water, lightning, energy!"

"I… I know…" Ruby replies, before coughing from all the Dust pouring into her face.

"Are you even listening to me? Is any of this sinking in? What do you have to say for yourself?!"

Ruby, who had spent the last few minutes having Dust strewn haphazardly in her face, sneezes, which causes the Dust floating in the air to react and erupt into a full on explosion with licks of flame, glittering snowflakes, and zaps of electricity all heading towards the snooty girl in white – causing the vial of Dust she was holding to fly from her grasp and across the courtyard.

Said vial landed at the feet of a young woman in monochrome clothing, who then bent down to pick up said vial. Once she does so, she notices the snowflake emblem on the side as she continues reading, causing her to look up and over to the unfolding scene in front of her.

The snooty girl, who's pristine white outfit was now covered in soot, exclaims. "Unbelievable! This is exactly the kind of thing I was talking about!"

"I'm really, really, sorry!" An embarrassed Ruby apologizes profusely.

"Ugh, you complete dolt! What are you even doing here? Aren't you a little young to be attending Beacon?" The girl questioned.

"W-Well, I-I…" Ruby tried.

"This isn't your ordinary combat school. It's not just sparring and practice, you know!" The girl exclaimed. "We're here to fight monsters, so… watch where you're going!"

"Hey, I said I was sorry, princess!" Ruby snaps.

"It's heiress, actually." Corrected an unseen voice, causing both Ruby and Princess to look over at the newcomer, a girl in monochrome clothing holding the discarded vial of Dust.

The newcomer is a bottom heavy girl with pale, oriental-esc, skin who stands five foot six in three inch heels, with a lithe build and ovular face. She wears her wavy, ashen-black, air long and loose, and her amber eyes look upon the world with an uninterested glare, much like a cat. With a large, black bow tied upon the top of her head.

She wears a black, buttoned vest with coattails and a single silver button on the front. Underneath this is a white, sleeveless, high necked crop top and white shorts with a zipper on the front of each leg.

She also wears black low-heeled boots and full stockings that gradually goes from black to purple at her ankles. Blank is visible on the outside of both thighs, just below her shorts in white. On her left arm is a black detached sleeve with a silver cuff around her bicep, and black ribbons are wrapped around both forearms. A small, loose, black scarf is wrapped around hr neck, and a gray magnetic backpack is strapped to her back, hidden by her hair, of which her weapon is attached to.

The girl continued. "Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, one of the largest producers of energy propellant in the world."

"Finally!" The now named Weiss smiled smugly. "Some recognition!"

"The same company infamous for its controversial labor forces and questionable business partners." The girl continued, with the faintest hint of a smirk gracing her lips.

Weiss balks and fumes as Ruby chuckles in the background. "Wha- How dare- The nerve of… Ugh!"

Weiss marches up into the monochrome girls face, or about as much as her short ass could, and snatched the bottle from her hand and walking off in a huff as her helpers gather her luggage and follow.

Ruby looks to the storming Weiss, still sorry. "I promise I'll make this up to you!" She sighs. "I guess I'm not the only one having a rough first day… So, what's…" She turns to see the monochrome girl walking off as well.

Ruby's shoulders slump as she flops onto the ground and looks up at the sky. "Welcome to Beacon…"

She stays that way until a shadow envelopes her form, looking up reveals none other than Jaune holding out his hand and looking to her with a bashful smile.

"Need a hand?" Jaune's smile turns teasing. "Crater Face."

"Hey, that explosion was an accident!" Ruby exclaimed. "Vomit Boy!"

just as Jaune easily pulled Ruby up from her quite literal slump, Yang comes running up, before putting her hands on her knees and panting.

"Huh boy…! That… that took longer than expected." Yang looks up with a smile, seeing a crater and a soot covered Ruby. "What did I miss? And who's ass do I have to beat?"

-{O}-

After five minutes of trying to convince Yang to not commit premeditated murder, the trio walk down the path towards the atrium, but half way Ruby's social awkwardness reared its ugly head.

"So… I got this!" Ruby pulls out Crescent Rose and stabs its blade into the ground.

"Ruby…" Yang sighed as she pinched her nose.

"That's… a scythe!" Jaune replied intelligently.

"It's also a customizable high-impact anti-material rifle!"

"So it's also a gun?" Asked Jaune.

"Yes!"

"That's cool!"

"So, what do you got?"

"I, uh, I got this." Jaune draws Crocea Mors' blade.

"Ooooohh!" Replied Ruby.

"Yeah, and I've got a shield, too!" Jaune then slides Crocea Mors down to his forearm before deploying it's shield.

Ruby gently caresses Jaune's shield. "So, what do they do?"

"The shield blocks and the sword cuts and thrusts." Jaune shrugs. "As is on the tin!"

"Oh!" Ruby giggles nervously. "Well, I'm kind of a dork when it comes to weapons, sooo… I guess I did go a little overboard when designing it."

"Wait – you made that?!"

"Of course! All students at Signal forge their own weapons!" Ruby gives him a cute, questioning, look. "Didn't you make yours?"

"It's a… hand-me-down." Replied Jaune. "My great-great-grandfather used it to fight in the war."

"Sounds more like a family heirloom to me." Ruby laughs good naturedly. "Well, I like it! Not many people have an appreciation for the classics these days.'

Jaune collapses his shield and sheaths his sword. "Yeah, the classics…"

Jaune and Ruby are taken out of their conversation by a slow, clapping sound. Turning to look at the origins of the noise reveals a slowly clapping and shocked Yang.

"I'm impressed." Yang stops clapping. "That's the longest I've ever seen you talk with someone that wasn't me, dad, or uncle Qrow!"

"Yang!" Whined an embarrassed Ruby.

Jaune chuckled at the sight. "Oh, to have younger siblings!"

This caught Yang's attention. "You talk like you have some experience."

"Yup." Jaune popped the P. "With both older and younger."

"Oh!" Yang perked up. "How many do you have, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Seven." Jaune replied evenly.

"… … … SEVEN!"

Jaune chuckled, he never got tired of seeing peoples faces when he told them that. "Yeah… holidays are always a blast!" He coughs. "Now we should probably go find the auditorium."

"Hmm." Yang looks around. "Hey, uh, where are we going?"

"Oh, I don't know, I was following you!" Answered Jaune. "Y-You think there might be a directory? Maybe a food court? Some sort of recognizable landmark?" The girls giggled. "Is, uh… is that a no?"

Ruby chuckled. "That's a 'no'."
