Chapter Three

Kagome struggled beneath the weight of the other dragon, her heart pounding in her chest. She had no idea what was happening, but the feeling of helplessness gnawed at her. She tried to push the dragon off, but his grip was firm, and his teeth remained dangerously close to her throat.

"Let go of me!" Kagome hissed, her eyes blazing with anger and fear. She wasn't about to become anyone's possession, not without a fight.

The black dragon, Toothless, ignored her struggles, his grip on her neck unyielding. Instead, he continued to project his thoughts into her mind, his voice soothing and commanding all at once.

'You are mine,' he repeated, his words echoing in Kagome's mind. 'You will always be mine.'

Kagome's resistance waned as the warmth from Toothless's presence enveloped her. Confusion swirled within her, and she found herself growing calmer, despite the dire situation. It was as if his presence was a balm to her soul, soothing her fears and doubts.

As Kagome's struggles ceased, Toothless released his hold on her throat, though he remained close, his eyes never leaving hers. Kagome slowly got to her feet, her mind racing with a whirlwind of emotions.

"What did you just do to me?" Kagome demanded, her voice quivering with a mix of anger and curiosity.

Toothless regarded her with an unreadable expression. "I claimed you as my mate," he replied simply.

Kagome's eyes widened in shock. Mate? She couldn't wrap her head around the idea. In her world, mates were humans who loved and cared for each other deeply. This dragon's concept of a mate was something entirely different.

"I'm not your mate!" Kagome protested, shaking her head. "I don't even know you!"

Toothless let out a rumbling chuckle. "You will get to know me, nightshade. You belong to me now, and I will protect you with my life."

Kagome's frustration grew. She didn't want to belong to anyone. She wanted to find a way back to her own world, to her friends, to Inuyasha. This dragon's claim on her only added to the complexity of her predicament.

"Let me go," Kagome insisted, her voice determined. "I won't stay here against my will."

The black dragon's eyes softened, and for a moment, Kagome saw a glimmer of understanding in his gaze. "Very well, nightshade," he conceded. "I won't keep you here if you truly wish to leave. But for now, let me show you the beauty of this world and what it means to be a dragon. You might find that it's not as bad as you think."

Kagome hesitated, torn between her desire to return home and her curiosity about this new world and the dragon who claimed her. It was a choice she couldn't make lightly, and she knew that her life had taken a path she could never have imagined.

With a reluctant nod, she agreed, "Show me."

Toothless nodded, and with a gentle nudge of his head, he gestured for Kagome to follow him. Together, they walked deeper into the lush forest, the sound of rustling leaves and chirping birds filling the air.

"So, Toothless," Kagome began, breaking the silence, "what's this world like? And what exactly do you mean by 'abiding by dragon laws'?"

Toothless glanced back at her, his tail swaying lazily. "This world is unlike anything you've ever known, nightshade. It's a place where dragons of all kinds live in harmony with nature. We have our own customs and ways of life."

Kagome listened intently, absorbing every word. This was a world she knew nothing about, and she was determined to learn as much as she could.

"To answer your second question," Toothless continued, "dragon laws are a set of rules and principles that govern our society. They ensure that we coexist peacefully and protect the balance of this world."

Kagome frowned, her curiosity piqued. "What happens if someone breaks these laws?"

Toothless's expression grew serious. "The consequences can be severe, depending on the offense. It can range from exile to more... permanent measures."

Kagome shivered at the implication. This world seemed both beautiful and dangerous, and she was beginning to understand the weight of the choices she would have to make.

As they walked deeper into the forest, Kagome couldn't help but feel a growing sense of unease. She was far from home, in a body not her own, and her fate was entwined with a dragon she barely knew. It was a lot to take in, and she couldn't help but wonder if she would ever find a way back to her own world.

Toothless seemed to sense her internal struggle, and he slowed his pace, his gaze filled with empathy. "I know this is overwhelming, nightshade," he said softly. "But I promise, I'll do everything in my power to make this world feel like home to you."

Kagome nodded, a mixture of gratitude and uncertainty swirling within her. She had embarked on a new journey, one that would test her in ways she had never imagined. And in the heart of this dragon world, she would discover not only its mysteries but also the true depths of her own strength.
