As they came closer to the base they heard that people were guarding the area, almost like they didn't want something inside to ever be freed. The place looked on the outside like a major warehouse used to store and get things ready to transport to other places, but Naruto and Sasuke knew better than this.
Thanks to them working with Bruce, they had found something odd, their hunch that someone was attempting to weaken the planet's defenses was more clear, they went to check on one of the labs in charge of one of the orbital telescopes and much to their shock they found three scientists talking to each other in a language that no one on Earth ever spoke. They spoke in such a strange manner that it made Sasuke wonder why nobody ever noticed them, they were working inside at a computer until they saw something that made them act.
One of the scientists picked up a massive computer databank to reveal something that screamed to everyone this was a bomb. Naruto rushed in but with every weapon he used, every attempt failed it was almost like fighting something that was very mobile like he was fighting a strange sentient puddle of slime or water. Even as Sasuke used his Chidori at best this forced them to reveal their true forms or as much as they knew were their true forms.
The three scientists turned into strange human-shaped blobs, they looked like something straight out of the pages of the stories of H.P. Lovecraft. The blobs had white and black sinew-like tendrils throughout their bodies, but sometimes they saw lights. This is what worried Batman as he saw Naruto and Sasuke fight with their all and they had little success against them, but those lights made Bruce think about what if they could use them as weapons.
Almost as if the universe wanted to answer the question Batman had thought, one of the creatures pointed at Naruto, and from the finger, they shot a laser, this was new, this didn't happen the last time they fought, and much like before they threw their special grenades, and as they exploded the creatures turns to dust. "So it is as you two suspect, these creatures have a weakness, ultraviolet light, or in other words sunlight. but where are the original scientists?"
Naruto felt the memories of one of his clones return to him, he had sent several clones to scout the interior of the building, "Actually I may have an answer to that, follow me, I know where the scientists are and probably what happened to them." As they approached they saw the three scientists stuck inside a strange gel-like substance, as if they were held prisoners inside it. Sasuke using a liquid that gave off an ultraviolet light, coated a kunai with it. As he approached their suspicions were again proven correct as the thing that kept them prisoner dissolved till there was nothing left. Naruto began to do something that made his hands glow green.
Sasuke knew immediately he was using his jutsu to check on the medical condition of the three scientists, and from the looks of it, Naruto didn't like it one bit. "I don't like this, they are alive, but at the same time they feel like something drained them of energy, they are not as much sleep as they are debilitated to the point that they are in a coma.
"These people are alive, but until they get much-needed nutrients and medical care, they are not going to wake up anytime soon. Those things that held them, prisoner, drained them like some energy-sucking slime, and somehow I feel that they are connected to the creatures we fought before."
Batman realized what Naruto said was true and it made more sense why there were only three pretending to be humans, in other words, they could only be three because they only held those three scientists nearby. That also means if they find people held in the same sort of prison containment, chances are creatures are pretending to be the people they held hostage. He wanted to think they had to be near their hostages, but he knew that this could be wrong.
As they came closer to the base, Naruto began to send more and more of his shadow clones into the base, pretending to be regular soldiers, and began to look all over the place, the mental defense seal was working better than even he imagined, it was based on a Genjutsu of how Might Guy and Rock Lee greet each other with a hug and a rainbow appears, the image was so terrifying that these creatures would do everything in their power never to see it.
Sasuke joked that of course, these creatures would avoid that scene at all costs, the scene was played on a beach on a sunny day too, if the image of those two hugging like that was terrifying, the image of the sunny beach day, would be something akin to a living hell. They know how their bodies react to ultraviolet light after all.
As they walked into the base trying to be more and more stealthy about it, Naruto became a little dizzy, almost like every clone sent back memories as they turned to dust, and as he coped with the flood of memories he came to a nasty realization, every person in the base, from the lowest soldier to the General in charge of this hidden base, yes base not warehouse, most of the base was built underground. "There is no need to hide, we don't have any friendlies in this entire complex, so take these ultraviolet grenades and this ultraviolet coating, because we will used them plenty by the time we reach where we will find the one that is causing us to have those nightmares.
As they began to fight more and more of these creatures, it seemed that this drew the attention of Superman or he was coming to that place all along. "It seems I am not the only one who figured out that someone was trying to get in touch with us, using those nightmares, I have some contacts with a few senators, let's go inside, and see if the General will listen to reason."
Sasuke stepped closer to Superman and told him the General and personnel of the base were not humans so don't expect them to listen to his diplomatic attempt. "We already found the General, soldiers, and personnel of this place, they have been freed and placed in a secure place, awaiting our rescue of the last of the hostages, once the one who has been asking us all to come here is free. We will take every single one that needs aid so they receive medical attention. Why speak it in front of these things? Simple, they already know, they knew the minute we came here. Our plan is not difficult to figure out. As for the others, we already dealt with most, you bunch are the last, so I give you this one and only chance, surrender, or perish."
One of them spoke and said they would never surrender, no one can defeat the might of the Imperium, as they attempted to fire, Sasuke had already thrown the grenade and after the explosion, none of the enemies remained alive, Naruto looked at Superman and told him might as well rescue the last of the hostages. As they opened the doors and took the elevator going down, it was easy to see who was still upset and was glaring. Batman knew these two and he knew the reasons they did that, but Superman did not. So he remained quiet.
Sasuke told him that, unlike the enemy, he has no intentions of invading his mind, if he has anything to say, say it now. The danger to their world is escalating and they have precious little time to waste. "You could have knocked them out, taken them captive, interrogated them, why kill them in such a cruel and heartless manner?" Even if they are enemies Superman would show them compassion, and mercy. That is something Sasuke could or would ever do.
"You have no mental barrier to prevent your thoughts from being read, if I were to question them, you would be present, and in that case, this gives the enemy a chance to gain more information on any possible plan of action we may have, if my friend and I are ninja, and we gladly kill a thousand of our enemy, if it means saving over a billion innocent people. This is the cruel calculus of war, and make no mistake this invasion is a war, a war for this planet's very survival."
They heard someone laugh in a pained tone as he said this, "I couldn't have said it better myself, I came to your world to warn you, but I was held captive instead, your people made the foolish mistake of freeing an unspeakable threat, and you are correct this threat will want to destroy every life on this world, consume it completely as they once tried to do to my people, I am the last surviving member of my kind."
As they walked they saw that a person was being held against his will, in a clear container, the man had clear draconic features on his head and body, and as soon as he was released he changed into something more human in appearance, a cape, some light armor, and the only thing that irked Naruto was the red cross across the chest of the armor. "My name is J'onn J'onzz, and you are correct I have been causing you and others these nightmares as a warning and a call for help. I apologize, however, when I attempt to enter the minds of two of you, I see a scene that I can not describe as anything other than that parental love toward their child, how does this prevent me from seeing your thoughts?"
Naruto told him that it creates an image, so intricate, so flawless, that any person who attempts to enter the person's mind would be far too distracted, to realize the scene repeats, and they would not be able to read any other thoughts. It is thanks to a seal he created for this very purpose. Sasuke wanted to hit him for potentially giving the enemy this information.
"I see, an interesting approach, but as you no doubt suspect, you are correct, the invasion of this world has begun, and sadly the only weapon that existed, no longer exists, it was a gas made from a plant from my world but sadly that and any other plant no longer exist, and those that held me captive destroyed the plant I brought with me. This invader has in truth invaded my world or attempted to do so, they will not simply kill your people, they will drain and consume them completely. Batman took his seal off, and he asked his brothers to do the same as a sign of trust.
It was ironic that a person who has such trust issues would ask for something like this. He told them they would need help to withstand this threat, and would hope that they could find able people to do so. J'onn called this sensible and told them not to worry, he has been sending this conversation to potential allies this entire time, and they will arrive outside of the base in short order. Well at the very least, they will not have to repeat this over again, Sasuke would have found that both idiotic and annoying.
As they exited the base Superman asked if he required any sustenance, or medical attention, he was told no, what he needed to do was deal with the enemy he came to defeat and save this world, all other things can wait. A person was seen coming towards them like a red blur as he approached, as he got closer two women began to fly down from the air, followed by a man whom Naruto knew as the uniform of the Green Lantern Corp.
"Well we are here, as you called for help, but I hardly see any real purpose of having two women and two inexperienced punks be any help, the name is John Stewart, I am the Green Lantern of this world and the protector of this sector of space. There is another, but I shall call them upon knowing how much danger my world truly is in, I will not accept potential lies. The other is named Hal Jordan, and he is a Green Lantern like myself."
One of the women looked particularly ready to knock his block off, as she walked in anger toward the group holding a lightning-charged mace, "The name is Shayera Hol, I have been a warrior most of my life, and I do not appreciate your insulting comment, I have come to your world to help you, and this is how you dare to disrespect me!" The other woman was much more calm wearing what some would say rather revealing armor, and long black hair, a golden tiara with a star on her head.
"And I am one of the Amazon princesses of Themyscira, and we have dealt with many invaders, I have fought for several centuries myself, do not mistake my appearance as a clear sign of my age or experience, for that is foolish," Naruto said to John to stop putting on airs, that he was at best a simple human man, the only reason he has any powers at all is because of this ring he wears. John's armor vanished and Naruto was holding the ring saying that this ring must be powered by sheer force of will. As Naruto held the ring in his open palm John called for it and put it back on again, the uniform appeared once again.
"You will not take my ring ever again." John was glaring at Naruto as he said this, his anger could be easy for everyone to see, Naruto simply began to laugh like this display of anger was nothing but a joke to him, he told John he wouldn't take his ring again unless he wants to, so thread carefully or next time he will not be as kind as return it, he could lock it up in a place where no matter how many times he calls for it, it will never return, and finally said to him that who was the one throwing a tantrum, just like an emotional punk.
"Ok, I guess that was my bad in making assumptions about how you look, but we need to know who each other is, and what to call you if we are going to work together against this threat." As he said this the red blur finally reached them and he was looking at these two women in a way they clearly did not appreciate, "Well he is Batman, I am Kage, and my good friend here is Tengu, as for our friendly martial friend, I don't think he needs an introduction, and finally, the guy wearing red with lightning symbols, I would say his name is Super Pervert."
This made the man in question glare at Naruto as he said this, but somehow made the two women laugh as they said that would be appropriate. "Hell no, it ain't, I am the Flash, the fastest man on Earth, and don't you forget it! I am no pervert!" Sasuke could not help to think, that he thinks the prince protests too much, and Naruto found the notion that he considers himself the fastest human on earth, using the technique that his father invented he could run circles around this fool. It was laughable, so much so that even his godfather would have found it funny.
"Anyways from what we know of the enemy, they are weak to sunlight, they can change forms, an ability clearly stolen from the Martians, and if they stole that ability, they might also have stolen the ability to read minds. So we will need a way to prevent them from reading our minds, come close and I shall create seals on one of your articles of clothing, once this is done, and the seal is active we can discuss our plan of action."
He didn't like it one bit, but Naruto shocked him even further by telling him he didn't need to do a thing, he already had an active seal, that is the reason why he took the ring in the first place, to place it on it, no other article would be as important to him as that ring. They all understood that he chose something John would consider precious because he would want to prevent others from taking it.
Shayera deactivated her mace and handed it to him, Batman did the same with an old ring, and the flash simply handed him a lightning-shaped pendant that was on a chain. It took him less than a minute for him to place the seals, and J'onn said he had no such item but he could form the image he saw within his mind to create the same mental barrier. John began to wonder if they were nocturnal, maybe they would only attempt to attack at night, the others had put on the items as he said this.
Batman told him that would be too limiting for an invasion of the world, as he said this, several large meteors began to fall from space, and much to their shock were actually grotesque things that made some of them think of armored infantry units or tanks. The large meteor grew tentacles and dug anchoring itself on the ground and began to spew this strange smoke.
"Damn it, that is it, they planned to use that smoke to change the atmosphere and block out the sunlight, this would give them the complete ability to fight and conquer this world, I hate this but I have to admit, it is impressive tech." To hear the Flash say this was not something Sasuke was ever expecting. He figured the man was just a speedy moron, well it appears he was wrong.
Naruto could only think of how to resolve this issue, but the first thing would be to reverse the way they produce the smoke and clear their atmosphere, if that is done, sunlight will be a major help in battling the invaders on the surface of the planet, but it all boils down in learning their technology, which upon hearing this Sasuke mentions, that it is your standard scouting and retrieval mission.
Superman asked what they meant by that, to put it simply, go in, learn as much as they can, and take everything that could be useful or contain any enemy information back with them when they leave. Superman was indignant upon hearing that, he flat out called it to spy and steal everything that was not nailed down. Sasuke looked at the man and began to shake his head, "Essentially true, ninjas are not beyond doing everything and anything they have to, to achieve their missions, sabotage, trap, lure, assassinate, and even destroy are all parts of what a ninja can do, and will do to succeed in their mission, this is war if you wish to show them mercy and stick to your knightly code of honor, good for you, because they certainly will not."
Sasuke looked at the others and told them something they did not expect, right this moment he doesn't just want to stop those smoke factories, but in fact, want to use them to suck up that smoke right back up, they would not simply stand by and see these bastard pollute this world even worse than it already is. John asked what exactly do they propose? Naruto could think of hitting multiple locations at the same time, if they had some other people attack the tanks however it would draw attention away from the infiltration teams and allow them to move into the factories a lot easier.
If multiple factories are attacked, there are greater chances for success, and even manage to obtain several key vital components of these factories, and thus they will have more to figure out how to reverse engineer it and turn their weapon against the enemy. Flash asked who could they ask for help, they would have to be strong to be able to do anything against those tanks. Naruto had enough and told him powerful, crafty, sneaky, or plain psychotic, at this point anything is useful.
That made the two women wonder what he meant by that, "Guess I need to put it as simple as possible, every hero here has to deal with colossal pains in the ass daily and in some cases multiple times a day, you want me to spell it out, the villains everyone here has been fighting against, why? They can't rob, terrorize or kill people if these damn alien creatures win, can they? They are not doing it for the good of the planet, they would do it, because making the people of this planet live's fucking miserable is their gig, and no alien shithead was going to take that from them. Let's face it if the Joker hears that these fucking aliens could end up killing Batman instead of him, he will face those fucking aliens alone if he has to, screaming, Hey you fucking aliens shit nobody gets to kill that fucking Bat but me!"
J'onn asked why would this person go to that extent, Sasuke told him that as far as they could tell the Joker had a weird hate-fueled obsession over killing Batman, he almost killed Harlee Quinn just because her plan actually did succeed in capturing Batman and was about to kill him, before the Joker came in and bit her skull in for even trying to kill Batman. The Joker has gone as far as to find and kill other villains that want to kill Batman, effectively saving his life, because the Joker refuses to let anyone other than him kill Batman.
To make the situation even worse Naruto decided to make a shadow clone and had him turn that clone into a sexy female version of the Joker, and the clone did something that even Sasuke considered creepy, she did an entire speech, "These fucking aliens think that they can take Bats from me, not going to fucking happen, Bats is mine and only mine and these fucking alien bitches will fucking eat lead if they fucking try, you hear me you alien motherfuckers, the Bats has someone who claims to own that fucking Bat and that is me, I will fucking kill every single one of you fuckers, before I let you late my Precious Bat!"
Sasuke looked at Naruto and punched the fucking clone square in the kisser making it disappear. "We get it, you fucking make your point Dobe, no need to make us all sick to our stomachs to get the fucking point across, dear god that was disgusting." Naruto hit Sasuke in the kisser telling him what the clone feels so does he, so he owes him for that, and glared at him, "At least people get the plan, don't fucking complain teme, we both know I could have done worse. So you get the jists of what we had in mind for this plan."
Superman's only objection was that how dare he punch what essentially was a lady in the mouth like that, both Diana and Shayera had absolutely no problem with him doing that, Batman said it was strategically sound, and they were correct in reversing what these smoke factories were doing would be essential. Flash again mentioned it is not like they got their villains' phone numbers on speed dial, and even if one did, chances are they would never listen.
Naruto countered that by saying something simple, form teams in a way that the factory being attacked is in the area where each team has villains they often fought against in the area or nearby. "Even if they don't want to prevent these creatures from killing a hero just so they can have the joy of killing that hero off themselves, they would be absolutely stupid if they didn't do it to simply save their own ass, if these aliens things win, all life on this world is over, can't rob, kill, or torture anyone if you are dead."
