Hey guys, so this chapter took a while. Mostly cause I was also writing 2 other fics that being Cooking Up Some Trouble and Crafting a Hero's Tale. These are 1 hero fics where we have a world dealing with the waves, but only 1 holy hero and 2 vassals to fight them. It's chaotic, we have a gamer Jim meming on some people with a crafting tool, and then Clara that has a cooking tool but is at rist of making a kitchen explode. Would mean the world to me if you checked those out. They are a part of the MWP (Many Worlds Project) where me and the boys decided to write a fic with 1 hero, then we plan to fuse them into 2 hero worlds and finally to 4 hero worlds. Javetts and Mache are in there, you probably saw Kampf with the best gun fic on shield hero so far so go check it out, see how it does.
As for this fic, BOI this is a long chapter by my standards. Since other fics I tend to call it a day at 3k, but this chapter went to 9k because of how much fighting there was for the first wave. To be fair, first wave gotta hit the hardest to show the chaos to come. Enjoy and read end credits to suggest stuff.

*BOOM*

"First is the worst, second is the best!"

*BOOM*

"Third time's the charm?"

"...Fift-?"

*BOOOOOOOOOOM*

"GOD DAMN IT!" John screamed out in frustration. For the past few minutes he has been trying to pour mana into the end crystals, but instead of giving him a spell, they blew up into his face.

"Ok, two left. I guess I'll need to get into the end to find more after this," he grumbled. He raised the second to last crystal to his face and slowly poured in a tiny bit of mana. His nether star shield was raised just in case as he waited for the crystal to do something. However, unlike the last dozen times, the crystal cage around the center shattered.

John stared as the cube crystal opened up, revealing a small glowy orb that floated towards him. He grabbed the glowing orb and felt a weird warmth spread through his body. A notification popped up and a spell has been added to his spell list.

[Fast Earth Wall has been learned]

John stared for a moment as the new message registered and opened up the spell menu. A chant appeared in front of him, which he read out loud.

"Fast Earth Wall!" he finished, pouring mana into his hand. He felt the energy leap away from his body and sink into the ground. Just as he thought nothing had happened, a small wall popped out of the ground. It was only a small wall, just a 3 tall and 5 wide mix of dirt and stone, but it appeared almost instantly and had no material cost for him.

"LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" John yelled, summoning several more walls until his mana ran out. "I HAVE THE POWER OF DONALD TRUMP!"

After a few more walls and laughs, John pulled out the last crystal and poured his mana into it, careful to not let it explode.

[Fast Heal has been learned]

"Oh my god… not only am I a tank, meaning fighting me is already annoying, but I got healing and earth affinities, meaning I can f*ck with the terrain AND heal any damage done to me! Since building and moving stuff isn't an attack, the shield should have no problem with traps and memes! I pity the fools who will try to fight me," John muttered, an evil twisted grin appearing on his face. "I am gonna have the most annoying build of all time! FEAR ME!"

The shadow in the trees looked at John in confusion and concern.

"Looks like the shield hero has finally lost it. I should report this to the church," they muttered, disappearing into the shadows.

Man, I should have unlocked the crystal shield! I only have one blaze powder left, but no ender pearls. Well, I guess I'll need to wait until I come across an ende-

A sudden noise pulled him out of his thoughts as he saw an enderman looking at him. An awkward silence filled the forest until the enderman's mouth began to open, signifying its rage.

"Give me your balls," John said, glaring at the enderman.

"*Confused enderman screeching*"

It blinked and cocked its head in confusion. John began to approach the man with his shield out.

"GIVE ME YOUR BAAAAAALS!"

"*Scared enderman screeching!*"

The enderman, forgetting its ability to teleport, began to run away in a panic as the crazy guy with an oversized shield began to quickly approach him. However, none can escape the hands of a minecraft player looking for treasure, and it soon lost its balls privileges, as well as its life. John laughed crazily, making the other shadow in the tree shiver.

John absorbed the end crystal and looked at the timer on his status screen. After leaving the potion store he ran into the church, jumped over anyone who he saw yelling at him, slammed his shield into the hourglass and used Portal Shield to teleport into the forest. This whole escapade has gained him a timer in the corner of his vision which said that the next wave was a bit under two weeks away.

Well, I should return to that Lute village. Since the wave happens in a random location, I want to get a ton of random materials and sacrifice them to the shield. If I use terrain reform and earth walls, I'll be able to build a wall around any nearby villages. Or even the wave itself. Wait, imagine I build a giant box around the wave spawner. Lmfao I should try that for the next wave.

With a new plan in mind, John has set off for Lute village to continue his adventure.

"Zweite Fireball!"

Motoyasu raised his hand and shot a fireball at the nearest armor stand. The fireball hit the armor and scattered the armor across the training field.

"Good job, spear hero!" Aultcray clapped, with a smile on his face. "You're progressing faster than I anticipated. I do regret that the Sword and Bow Hero weren't able to join us."

While Ren and Itsuki were content with unlocking the first spells for their affinities, Motoyasu wasn't satisfied. He remembered the Wither fight and how easily the creature crushed them. Maybe if he had magic everything would be easier? Maybe he would have saved the knights? Who knows?

So Motoyasu stayed behind with Aultcray and asked to teach him higher tier magic. However, the process was a lot harder than he imagined. First he was forced to listen to lectures of the best instructor Aultcray would find on the theory of magic, and then he had to learn the written language. He was still far from fluent in it, but despite that he was able to learn how to cast a spell of the next tier of magic in two weeks.

"Thank you. I'm trying my best. I'm sure the others will come around if they see me launching fireballs and decimating my enemies," Motoyasu replied.

"I'm sure they will. Actions speak louder than words after all," Aultcray smiled. Motoyasu looked at the status screen and the timer.

I hope this is enough. I should stop by and see if there is any high quality armor for Myne and the other girls in my party.

With that, the spear hero began to walk off, but Aultcray stopped him.

"Before you go, are you aware of combo skills?" he asked.

"Combo skills? Like, combining two skills together to make a better one?" Motoyasu questioned, opening his menu. There wasn't anything listed like that in the manual though.

"No no, not two skills. One of the many abilities of heroes is to combine the magic of their allies with their skills, giving the skill a great boost," Aultcray explained. "Try focusing on one of your skills. But don't fire it yet."

As Motoyasu picked out a skill, the king began to mutter something under his breath. Suddenly, once the king finished muttering a chant, a new option popped up in Motoyasu's menu and a wind wrapped around the tip of the spear.

"Chao- Twister Thrust!" Motoyasu wanted to summon the chaos thrust skill, but a new option popped up in his status. Instead of simply sending off small glowing javelins at his target, they all burst forth at incredible speed, decimating the armor stands in front of him.

"Woah!" he exclaimed, looking at the result before him. The king smiled at Motoyasu's reaction.

With this, I can dish out crazy damage! I wonder if I can try to do this solo? Well, either way the girls can now be a part of the battle and not get their hands dirty! I wonder if this would be enough to beat a Wither?

Motoyasu grasped his spear tightly as he swapped to his strongest weapon form.

With this, I'm ready for the wave.

"Some-"

*BOOOOOOM*

"-BODY ONCE TOLD ME! THE WORLD WAS GONNA ROLL ME! I AIN'T THE SHARPEST TOOL IN THE SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!"

John sang along as he walked through the forest around Lute village. The loud as hell explosion was a counter that he synthesized onto his best shield from the ender crystal shield.

[End Crystal Shield]

Abilities Mastered:

Equip Effect: +1 mana

Special Effect: C Explosion, spell support (weak)

Defense: 1

The sun was rising and monsters were beginning to burn. John used his counter to blast them to bits and absorb their remains, which he then sacrificed for building points for his skill. He had quite a lot saved up and a large amount of stone from the mine since, with the mine now empty, people started to gather resources. One of the most abundant resources was cobblestone, which realistically no one cared about or wanted outside of building a few houses. John would occasionally join in and help clear out underground areas just for fun, and in turn was allowed to keep the resources. He also volunteered to manage the furnace room and would throw any cobblestone he had into the furnaces while also managing a tree farm above ground. This resulted in a lot of charcoal, wood, and stone for John's building method and future uses.

With all this in mind, John was left with only a couple hours before the timer in his vision hit zero.

Only a couple of hours left now. He had no idea what kind of wave it would be or what kind of monsters would show up. Maybe a bunch of modded monsters? Could be the king from orespawn or something for all he knew.

"Trump! Are you alright?! I heard a lot of explosives go off," the village elder asked as John walked back to the village with a bunch of monster loot. Trump Putin was still his fake name that he used, much to his amusement. Well, he did make walls so it fit a bit.

"Yeah, all's fine. Someone asked for more bone meal so I got a few extra bones and stuff," John replied, dumping the bone meal into a chest next to the village's farm. One of the farmers gave him a few silver pieces and John headed to the blacksmith's shop.

"Ah, Trump, how can I help you?" the owner of the shop asked, looking at John.

"I'm just looking for now, I'll tell you in a bit," John replied, glancing at the merchandise. There were lots of weapons he couldn't use, but they were still interesting to look at.

Do I need armor? I mean, I have like 100 base defense and another 600 from the nether star shield, so it's not like I lack defense. And even if I'm caught lacking, I can synthesize resistance 4, ignoring 80% of damage. So really, I have like 3500 defense if things go wrong. But you know, there are two things I could do.

"Do you have some armor with thorns? Or spikes for all I care. Ooooh, and do you have a mask or something? Always wanted one of those!" John exclaimed, picking up a normal crossbow. "Also, I'll take one of these."

"Alright, coming right up!" the blacksmith said, walking into the back. John took the crossbow and shoved it into his shield. Just like the sword and pickaxe that gave him shields, he saw a new weapon form appear.

[Crossbow Shield]

Abilities Unmastered:

Equip Effect: accuracy up (small)

Special Effect: Magic Potion Arrow

Defense: 8

[O]

MAGIC ARROW?! I GET TO ATTACK AND IT'S A RANGED ATTACK! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I HAVE TO MASTER THIS AND ADD IT ONTO EVERY SHIELD I OWN! I need more crossbows!

"Here is the armo-" the shop owner began, but John ignored him and threw several crossbows onto the counter.

"Screw armor, how much for all of these!"

After paying for the crossbows (and the armor once the adrenaline wore off), John ran out of the shop and into the forest as fast as he could. He transformed his shield into the new form and glanced at its stats. It's defense was pretty low, but the special effect is what he wanted to try out. He focused on the effect and threw his mana into the shield.

In a moment a glowing arrow began to appear, loaded into the crossbow. John pointed it at a nearby tree and shot it.

*Clang*

The arrow hit the tree and harmlessly bounced off, as if doing no damage. John grumbled and looked at the disappearing arrow.

God damn it! It scales off of my attack! Which is at 2! DAMN IT!

John sighed and collapsed onto the ground. He looked at the sky and shot a few more magic arrows. They weren't hard to do, and were cheap to make, so he could just spam them until his mana ran dry.

Suddenly he frowned and looked back at the status screen of the shield. It said magic potion arrow, not just magic arrow.

Huh. Wait, will this work then?

John took out a potion from his crafted inventory. He couldn't do it normally unless he autocrafted the item, so any slimeballs he absorbed were stuck there and the only way to get them out was through terrain reform or apparently going to the hourglass, according to his help manual at least.

But these potions he made he got by buying materials off of people, or crafting it himself. Harming potions were his favorite to make in case he needed to synthesize the harming potion counter. He may have gone overboard after going ham on blazes for almost two days straight, and made way too many potions, but they were easy to make and pretty profitable to sell, especially when he made a quick trip to the capital and sold them to Charlotte and Oliver. Turns out their business is going pretty well and the giant light-up bottle made quite the impact.

So John got a bunch of profits thanks to the brewing stand shield allowing him to auto brew a potion, and a bunch of random potions left over. And the ingredients were easy to get or easy to buy, especially if he sold stuff from the nether. Wither skulls apparently went for an entire gold coin, so it was totally worth punching those to death or dropping them off cliffs for hours to get a bunch of 'em.

John pressed on the shield and a small icon appeared next to it with a plus sign. He selected it and a row of all the potions in his shield's inventory popped up. He clicked on a strength 2 potion and watched as a counter appeared with the number 16 next to tipped arrows with the effect listed next to them. He charged up another arrow, and this time the tip of it was a different color. Instead of it all being a pure white, the tip was a bright red (changed yellow in the new update, but strength used to be red).

John shrugged and aimed the arrow at his foot. A dull clang ran out as the arrow hit him, but John's eyes widened as he saw the effect pop up for a bit. Just for a moment, he got strength 2.

A wide sinister grin appeared on John's face as he quickly poured in harming 2 potions and health 2 potions into the new weapon to test it out.

If this does what I think it does, then I am about to be cracked both close up and far away. This wave is gonna be fun!

Motoyasu looked around from the side of the capital's wall as the timer ticked closer and closer to 0. Despite agreeing to meet him here, Itsuki and Ren still weren't around. The princess and her friends were waiting in the tavern nearby, getting mentally prepared. Honestly, he would much rather not bring women to the battlefield, however, he could really use the buffs in case things go south again, and Malty insisted on staying with him in order to get materials, as the ones coming from wave monsters were always great.

Motoyasu did get extra money from the king to help his party, most of which went into pretty decent gear for the girls.

"Oi, Motoyasu!" Itsuki called over to the hero in question. Motoyasu raised his head and waved at the approaching Ren and Itsuki.

"Hey guys. You guys ready for the wave?" Motoyasu asked.

"Yeah. I upgraded this bow as much as I could so I should be good to go. 711 attack should be good to go for the first wave," Itsuki bragged.

"Damn. I'm still falling behind," Ren said bitterly. "But 508 should be good for the wave. It was in my game."

700, 500? I'm barely over 300!

Motoyasu sighed sadly and looked at his spear.

[Glowing Obsidian Spear] +11

Abilities Mastered:

Equip Effect: [Meteorite Spear]

Special Effect: (50 Blast Resistance)

Spirit Enchant: Wither Immunity, +30 SP

Status Enchant: +20 Attack

Attack: 312

Defense: 208

Even after using it for so long to try to raise its stats through passive mastery, I'm still too weak. Damn it. Even with all these upgrades, my spear only does 332 attack!

"Where the hell is John? I thought he would be here," Itsuki asked.

"I thought he'd be with you. Damn it, did he not show up?!" Motoyasu grumbled.

"Maybe he is already at the wave. He might know where they are ahead of time," Ren suggested.

"Let's hope so. Well, I'm sure he registered at the hourglass so he will teleport with us. Somebody give him a rundown then. So what's the plan for now?" Motoyasu replied.

"I'll stay behind you two and shoot at the boss, and any small fry that approaches us. What about the rest of you?"

"Going to go for the boss head on. My defense is pretty decent, so I should be able to take on a few hits if John doesn't show up or gets taken out somehow," Motoyasu replied. "My party will support me from behind with spells."

"My party will take care of the small fry while I fight the boss right behind Motoyasu," Ren responded.

"Alright. So we're all ready. Let's go reunite with our parties and wait for the wave. I wonder who John got as a party member."

"No clue. He probably got someone to deal damage for him though," Itsuki guessed. "Well, see you guys at the wave."

"See ya," Motoyasu waved as the two heroes left to talk to their parties. He sighed and checked his status one last time.

Let's hope I'm strong enough this time. I don't want to have to use this.

He glanced over at the weapon form at the very end of his weapon list.

[Spear of Hunger I]

Abilities Unmastered:

Equip Effect: [Change Spear (Attack)] and [Vampire Bunker]

Special Effect: Regeneration V, EXP Drain

Attack: 750

Defense: 500

It felt like the spear taunted him, showing him a weapon form that was much stronger than the one he had right now. He tried to upgrade it, just in case he had no choice but to use it, however, it needed something called "netherite", and he couldn't get any right now.

I hope I don't have to use this. Well… I should get going.

With his Glowing Obsidian spear on his back, Motoyasu began to walk towards the bar where his party was.

[0:00:12:36]

[0:00:09:45]

[0:00:02:26]

[0:00:01:19]

John looked over his shield one last time as he synthesized the arrow special effect he just got. While it isn't strong enough to one shot even the weakest of monsters, it was definitely gonna come in handy and it was John's first real way of attack that didn't rely on counters or other tricks.

"Alright. Let's go see what the hell this wave thing is," John grinned, watching the timer finally hit 0.

A bright light engulfed him and he felt his body being pulled off of the ground. However, the feeling quickly passed, and he found himself in the middle of a field. As he looked around, he noticed some familiar landmarks, like a bunch of trees he chopped down, as well as the village he just left a few minutes ago.

Oh hey, it's Lute! Neat!

OH SH*T, IT'S LUTE!

John looked up and saw a large crack in the sky with skeletons, spiders, enderman, zombies and creepers pouring out of it. A large chunk of the monsters were headed towards the village.

DAMN IT! MY FREE TRADING POST!

"John! Over here! We're gonna go attack the boss!" Motoyasu exclaimed, as he approached the hero. However, John didn't hear him over the sound of lost money, and instead raised his shield.

"Portal Shield! Lute!" he yelled, disappearing in front of Motoyasu. The spear hero looked around and saw a bright green flash at the village in front of him.

He had a waypoint at the village where the wave happened?! Did he plan this or did he just get lucky? Anyways, I guess it's up to me to tank the boss.

"Motoyasu! Let's go! Ren's gonna get all the loot!" Itsuki yelled, running towards the boss.

"Coming! Let's go, girls!" Motoyasu replied, running after the bow hero with his party in tow.

"Yo, Jack, pass me the bread, will ya?" a man turned to his friend over the table, pointing to the small basket full of bread next to him.

"Here you go. So, what do you think about our new heroes so far?" the man named Jack replied, tossing him a piece of bread.

"Well, I didn't hear much to be honest so I'm not sure. There are rumors that the 3 heroes took on a wither recently and came out victorious, however, no one was there to witness it, except a lot of dead knights," the first man replied.

"Well, that's still kinda impressive, don't you think, Steve?" Jack said, biting down on his food. "They have only been here for a little while, yet they already managed to take on a monster of such caliber.

"True. But there are also rumors that the shield hero was the one who spawned that wither, to try to get rid of the other 3 heroes. However, the Spear Hero has denied all of these several times, when asked. In fact, the man said that the shield hero actually was there to help," Steve replied.

"Huh? I heard that the shield hero went to a cave and cleared out the warden infestation, as well as retrieved a corpse out of the cave. I didn't hear anything about him fighting with the wither."

"I didn't hear much about that. I mean, the shield hero? Helping someone who isn't a demihuman? Unless there was something in that cave, I don't think he would have bothered," Steve said. "But with all the rumors, I don't know what to beli-"

*BOOM*

Before the two could react, the side of the building exploded, sending debris and shards at the people inside the bar, killing several people in the process. Those who have been fortunate enough to be close to the door quickly ran out of the building in panic. Steve and Jack looked up to see several zombies and spiders run inside through the hole in the building.

"What the hell?! Where did these all come from?!" Steve yelled, raising his sword. He swung at a nearby zombie and cut its head off. However, two more zombies replaced him, and a few more followed behind them. Jack grabbed the table and slammed it into the crowd of zombies, but they just tore the thing to pieces with ease. They ran towards the man in front of them as if trying to avenge their fallen comrade, but a couple of arrows flew into their eyes, blinding the monsters, followed by a shield being slammed into their face.

"I'll hold them back! Get the rest of the people out of here!" the man with the shield yelled, pushing back against the zombies. Before either of the men could reply, an explosion erupted from John's shield, sending monsters flying out of the broken building.

"Was that…?" Steve asked.

"I think it was," Jack replied.

"To think I would be saved by the Shield Hero of all people," Steve laughed, raising his sword.

"SHIELD BASH!" John howled, blasting his way through the crowd of monsters. Several creepers jumped into him and exploded, but John just continued to push his way through, knocking some of the creepers at other monsters, breaking down the crowd.

"Erst Shield! Hate Reaction!" he summoned a platform above him and jumped onto it, aggravating all the monsters with the second skill. Most of them turned towards him, ignoring the villagers they were attacking a moment ago, but a few remained persistent and raised their weapons.

"Ally Empowerment!" John yelled, pointing his shield at the people around him. A pulse erupted from the gem in his shield and the people's speed increased almost twofold, giving them the boost they needed to run away.

[Nether Star Shield]

Abilities Mastered: (40 Defense), (40 HP), (10 Regeneration), (30 SP)

Special Effect: C Skull Blast, Wither Immunity, Fire Immunity, Enhance Shield Bash, 20 Magic Resistance

[C Explosion, [Ally Empowerment 1], [Grounding], Rope, Magic Potion Arrow]

Defense: 600

This build is just straight up stupid as hell and I love it. I slapped on Ally Empowerment in case I need to give people a quick way to escape with all 4 points in speed. Good thing it's working. Now that everyone is running away, time for the show to begin!

One of the zombies finally climbed onto the platform John summoned and swung his sword at him. John grabbed the monster's weapon and jumped into the pile of monsters below. The zombie raised his other hand and smacked the shield as hard as it could to try and injure him

*BOOM*

The zombie was sent flying, and several other monsters as well. A few died, while others just brushed it off and ran at John.

"That's right! Get over here!" John yelled, punching a monster with his shield. A few more monsters attacked him, but his shield exploded again, sending the monsters flying back, killing a few in the process.

However, just as John was getting used to this pattern, something large and heavy fell on top of him.

"The hell is tha-?" was all he managed to scream out as the object exploded, sending him and several monster parts flying across the village. John scrambled to his feet and looked back at what hit him. To his surprise, it was a creeper. But not any normal creeper.

Four large legs crashed onto the ground, while a long still smoking body with a large creeper head glared at him.

Oh shit, a mutant creeper. Is this a boss or something? I thought the other 3 dudes went after the boss!

It was just then that John noticed a counter next to the wave.

[0/4]

Four bosses?! Well, I guess they must be much weaker then. That explosion didn't even hurt me!

Just as John rushed at the Mutant Creeper, dozens of arrows crashed onto his body. He turned around just in time to see a large skeletal hand punch him in the face, sending him crashing through a house.

ARE YOU SERIOUS?! A MUTANT SKELETON TOO?! Well, I guess it's time to test my new special effect!

"EAT THIS!" John screamed, pointing his shield at the Mutant Skeleton and selecting the Healing 2 potion. Several tipped healing arrows burst forth, hitting the boss in the face. Its hp bar in John's vision began to quickly deplete. The monster grabbed a wall and threw it at John, breaking the arrows.

"Meteorite Shield!"

A red barrier appeared, blocking the attack with ease, and allowing John to continue firing. But before he could drop the boss's hp bar lower, the roof above him collapsed, shattering his barrier, and a large explosion sent him flying into the air.

"Damn you! Can you not?!" John yelled, summoning an Erst Shield under him, stopping his fall. He pointed his shield at the skeleton and began to unload more healing arrows onto it before it could recover. But instead of blocking him, it leaped towards John and grabbed him with its ribcage.

"Well, that was a mistake! Rope!" John smiled, summoning a rope from his shield and wrapping it around the spine of the monster. He began to fire off arrows with one hand, and punched its bones with the other. The skeleton tried to hit John from the inside, but that simply triggered his explosion counter. John was thinking of using his wither skull counter, but he wanted the bones whole to craft so he continued simply blasting away with explosions and arrows.

*BOOM*

John groaned as the mutant creeper kicked him out of the skeleton's ribcage, breaking the rope, and summoned several baby creepers.

"Oh, come on!" John yelled, jumping onto one of the babies just as he exploded, sending him flying towards their parent. He swapped to harming arrows and blasted several into the creeper's head.

I could have sworn these had like 200 hp at most! I unloaded like a stack into the skeleton! That should have killed him, but he has over half hp left!

John slammed his shield into the creeper again and again until he attacked back and triggered the explosive counter. However, the creeper seemed to have blast resistance, as it just tanked that thing like it is nothing. It raised its hand and smacked John into the floor, triggering another counter. However, instead of exploding again, this time the shield blasted a small withered skull directly at the Mutant Creeper, and exploded in his face. The monster began to take damage and roared out in pain.

"Shield Bash!" John yelled, pushing the creeper back. But before he could blast another stack of harming arrows, the skeleton punched him into another building.

"Stop doing that!" John howlered, sending healing arrows at him. The skeleton jumped up and slammed his heavy crossbow onto John's head, but before the counter could hurt it, it jumped away and sent a volley of arrows at the Shield Hero.

"F*ck it! Fast Wall! Meteorite Shield!" John grumbled, summoning a wall of stone out of the ground and a barrier around him. The creeper blasted his way through the wall, his skin now covered in cracks and dark spots, as the skeleton fired off arrows at John. They harmlessly bounced off of the Shield Hero and he unloaded more harming arrows at the creeper, hurting it further. The boss roared at him and kicked him away, but John didn't get thrown as much as he did before. The monster was finally at its limit and dying, and it knew it.

The skeleton ran in front of its buddy and continued to shower John with arrows in hopes of killing it, but they all bounced harmlessly off of his barrier. John removed the barrier and slammed his shield into the skeleton's face as hard as he could and fired off several more arrows at the monster, almost completely depleting its hp bar. It staggered back and glared at John with hatred and fear.

"That's right. You die tonight and become my crafting materials!" John laughed, slowly approaching the skeleton. However, it turned around and began to walk away.

"Hate Reaction!" John yelled, smirking. "You thought! You! Thought!"

John laughed cruelly as the monster turned towards John and began to attack him relentlessly with punches, forgetting about its crossbow entirely. But each punch simply rewarded it with an explosion and an arrow.

With one final punch, the skeletons arms were blasted off and the behemoth collapsed to the ground.

"GG ez, no re," John laughed, shooting it in its head. The skeleton shattered and then kneeled down. Before John could react, the bones all flew into different directions, with the skull smacking John in the face

Right. Forgot it did that. Now for the other one!

John quickly gathered the bones around the battlefield and threw them into his inventory. He shoved the skull into his shield and walked up to the Mutant Creeper, who was kneeling on the ground, it's breathing shallow and its skin darkened.

"Should have picked on someone your own size buddy!" John smirked, aiming his shield at the monster. However, before he could shoot it, a wave of flaming embers crashed onto his body and on the monsters around him, including the creeper. The monster collapsed, its head blasted off by one of the fireballs, and exploded, sending John flying back yet again.

"For the love of god! WHICH MOTHER F*CKER WAS THAT?!" John howled, looking around for the culprit. Several knights looked at him from beside a building with their arms outstretched.

"So that's the shield hero. He is sturdier than he looks," the knight captain grumbled.

"You're fatter than I expected," John replied back.

"Excuse me?!" the captain yelled.

"No! You're not excused! I had that boss covered, so who the hell let you interfere, you kill stealing f*cks!" John yelled at the captain.

"You dare insult the noble knights of glorious Melromarc!? We are doing our job to protect the citizens!"

"Some job you did 20 minutes ago," John grumbled and rolled his eyes.

"Shut it you devil! If it wasn't for your weapon you would be dead on the spot!" the captain yelled back.

"Oh please, as if you could hurt me anyways," John replied, walking to the spot where the boss exploded. In the center of the massive crater was a small dark green egg that John picked up, and a large creeper head that was burned off. He threw the head into his shield, unlocking a new form, and then picked up the egg.

Nice! I could use a mini creeper as a companion. And I can buff him later to become a walking nuke! And I didn't think I'd get a head for the creeper, but I'll take it.

"You better drop that egg, shield!" the knight captain said, walking up to the crater.

"You better drop your balls," John barked back, walking out of the crater. Instantly, he found several swords at his throat from a few knights which looked at him angrily.

"Shut up and do as we say. Whatever that monster dropped belongs to Melromarc!" the captain said, walking up to John and stretching out his hand.

"I just took down two wave bosses solo at the same time. Are you really gonna take your chances?" John challenged the man, gripping the egg in his hands tighter.

"Shield, if you do not cooperate, we will have to take a more physical approach. I will not ask twice," the captain said firmly, however, John stood his ground. He noticed that some of the knights didn't approach him, instead actually helping people evacuate, while a few that held their swords at his neck looked conflicted.

"Here is what's gonna happen. One of you will attack me, triggering my counter and sending all of you into the air. I will use this time to set up a barrier and simply walk around the field as if I own the place, and once my cooldowns are down I will teleport away. Now you can spare your armor's durability and both of our time and go fight the waves instead. There are still two bosses left and who knows what they are doing," John threatened.

The captain and John looked at each other for a few seconds until the captain made the first move, nodding his head at one of the knights. They raised their sword and swung at John, hitting his shield.

Almost instantly the shield sprang to life and exploded, sending all the knights flying into the air. John raised his hand and summoned the Meteorite Shield and chucked the egg into his inventory. The knights scrambled to their feet and aimed their weapons at John. Several arrows began to descend onto his barrier, bouncing off harmlessly. The captain drew his sword and swung it at the barrier, cracking it slightly. He smiled and glared at the shield hero.

"Not so indestructible now, are you?" he laughed, hitting the barrier again.

"Captain! What are you doing?!" one of the knights who helped people evacuate yelled.

"The shield has obtained an egg from a wave monster! Nothing good can come from him of all people hatching a child of a calamity!" the captain replied, sending another barrage of attacks at the barrier. After one final hit the barrier shattered and John jumped forward, catching the attack with his shield.

The counter blasted the knight back, and John wrapped his shield's rope around the captain's feet.

"Shield Bash!" he yelled, launching himself back and pulling the captain with him, launching him at a burning building. The rest of the knights stopped and looked at John. He glared back at the knights and grinned.

"He had the best equipment, didn't he? I doubt any of you could hurt me if even he couldn't, so do me a favor and screw off!"

"Do not let him escape! We can't let the shield keep a pet of a wave boss!" the captain yelled, getting up from the ground. "Stop him here befo-!"

However, he did not manage to say before what, as a large slim black figure suddenly crashed into the village and grabbed one of the knights. He screamed out in fear, trying to wiggle his way out, but the enderman shrieked at him and bit his head off, silencing the man forever.

The mutant enderman dropped his corpse onto the ground and glared at the nearest knight in front of him, before shrieking loudly.

Well, sh*t. I know where the 3rd boss is.

"Crimson Slash!"

"Flaming Arrow!"

"Burst Lance!"

The three heroes sent off their flaming skills and mowed down an army of zombies in front of them. While the numbers of other monsters dwindled, the zombies just seemed to keep on coming without stopping. Their skills burned through them like butter, but more simply spawned.

"Itsuki! Do you see the boss?!" Motoyasu yelled, swinging his spear around like a bat to kill several zombies in front of him. However, while those died, more climbed over their drops and jumped at Motoyasu.

"Combustion Shot!" Itsuki yelled, sending a burning yellow arrow at the zombie crowd, blowing them up. Ren and Motoyasu used their explosive skills, giving them a bit of breathing room.

"Damn it! Where the hell are any of these bosses?! Why are there four?!" Motoyasu yelled angrily, waiting for his SP to recover.

"Guys! Two of the bosses just died!" Ren yelled, running forward.

"Huh?!" Motoyasu and Itsuki exclaimed. They looked at their status screen, and sure enough two of the bosses were dead.

[2/4]

Who killed them? No, the better question is where are they?

"RAWR!" a mighty roar erupted from the center of the zombie mass, before the ground trembled and a massive lump of rotten flesh jumped into the air.

"WATCH OUT!" Motoyasu yelled, jumping out of the way before the mutant crashed into the ground, creating a crater and knocking the other heroes away with a shockwave. Its rotting arms grabbed the sides of the hole and pulled itself up. It glared at the heroes and roared once again.

"Finally! The boss!" Itsuki exclaimed. "Meteorite Shot!"

The glowing arrow flew towards the creature, blasting its way through its chest and coming out the other side. The mutant zombie took one step towards Itsuki and then collapsed onto the ground.

"Huh? That was it?" Itsuki mumbled, looking at the zombie. Unlike the other monsters, it didn't turn into a puff of smoke.

"I mean, maybe it's because there are four of them?" Motoyasu guessed.

"Maybe. We should start looking for the other boss," Itsuki sighed, walking away from the corpse.

"Guys, there are still two bosses left," Ren pointed out. As Itsuki and Motoyasu looked at their statuses to confirm, Motoyasu heard something shift behind them. He turned around to see the mutant zombie reach for Itsuki.

"Itsuki! Behind you!" Motoyasu yelled, but it was too late. The beast grabbed Itsuki and slammed him into the ground, then launched him into the air, leaped after him, and slammed the Bow Hero into the ground with all his might.

"Meteorite Spear!" Motoyasu yelled, throwing a glowing spear at the boss and blasting its head off in one go. However, the monster only paused for a moment as a new head grew on and he roared at Motoyasu before charging at the Spear Hero.

"Meteorite Slash!" Ren slashed the beast in half, but it barely even paused before the wound closed and it reached for Ren.

"Damn it, of course it wasn't that easy!" Motoyasu grumbled, running at the boss.

The knights quickly raised their weapons and rushed the mutant monster, but it teleported behind one of the knights and slapped him. The knight disappeared, and a few seconds later he fell from the sky, shattering his legs. The enderman grabbed him with two of his arms and tore him apart with ease. One of the knights managed to hit him with a sword, damaging him a bit, but he simply grabbed a piece of a house and chucked it at the man, breaking his arm.

Magic followed, as the knights tried to burn the ground below the enderman, but he suddenly disappeared, and several phantom, almost transparent, clones of normal endermen appeared, and they all attacked a different knight.

"That's the clone attack! The real one is slightly bigger than the rest!" John yelled to the knights but it didn't matter. One of the knights hit the real enderman and was rewarded with an eye piercing screech and a large punch to his face, breaking his skull.

"Damn it! METEORITE SHIELD! ACCEPT MY INVITE AND GET UNDER MY SHIELD!" John yelled, sending out invites. Several knights joined his party and quickly jumped under the barrier. A few more knights followed, while the knight captain ran towards the barrier, but it stopped him in his tracks.

"Join the party or the barrier won't work!"

"Like hell I would join the same party with the Shield De-!" the knight captain began to yell, but never finished. Before everyone's eyes, the enderman teleported behind the captain and ripped his head off. It raised its hand and punched the barrier several times, trying to get inside, but to no avail.

"Welp, he died as he lived. Being f*cking racist. Anyone else bothered by working with the devil?" John asked, turning to the knights inside of his barrier. They shook their heads and looked at one of the knights.

"Are you the captain now since that guy is more open minded than that house over there?" John asked jokingly.

"I am. Do you have a plan to defeat that thing?" the man asked, pointing to the mutant enderman that was staring at the knights and John under the meteorite barrier. It walked around them several times, trying to find a weakness in the barrier, but there didn't seem to be one.

"Damn it, why couldn't it be a mutant spider?" John groaned as he looked at the captain's dead body. The sword he used was still there, the blade being made out of a glowing red obsidian, while the hilt was made with crying and normal obsidian.

If we translate that to hardness then that sword must do like 200 damage. Guess the guy was on a strength 2 potion and some magic buffs since he had over 500 to break my barrier.

John led the group towards the corpse and picked up the sword and tossed it to the nearby captain.

"My arrows won't work against it, and punching is gonna take all day. I'm gonna give you some cracked buffs like strength 4, and hand you a few potions. Then I'll try to weaken the enderman and agro him on me and I want you to stab the shit out of him, understand?" John asked, swapping to his second best shield.

[Warden Shield]

Abilities Mastered: (35 Defense), (25 Soul), (10 HP), (30 Magic Resistance)

Special Effect: C Sonic Blast, C Soul Snatch (10), Darkness Aura, Soul Recovery Up (10), Max Soul Up (25), Defense Up (30)

[C Poison II, C Slowness II, C Weakness II, C Harming II]

Defense: 500

These two shields I made are just so memish. I love it. This is better than chucking potions at people. And since so far the wither and other monsters worked like in bedrock, the weakness formula should work the same way instead of just doing -4 attack per level, which would be pretty weak against bosses. Meanwhile in bedrock I think it did something like damage x 0.8^weakness? Not sure, but with two levels this should almost halve its damage, and I can then use the 4 levels of resistance, essentially raising everyone's defense by 5, for a total difference of almost 10. But that won't stop the teleporting attack. So weakening and agroing seems like my best shot.

"Get ready everyone. Ally Empowerment! Hate Reaction! Shield Bash!" John yelled skill after skill, and ended by dropping the shield and attacking the enderman head on with the warden shield.

The endeman grabbed the shield with all four arms and screeched at John with its eyes glowing red from the hate effect, before throwing him at a building. It teleported to him and grabbed him by the head, attempting to rip it off.

"Erst Shield!" John summoned the shield into the monster's face and grabbed its arm with one hand and the summoned shield with another. "NOW!"

On command, the captain ran behind the boss and hit him with his sword, slashing off both of the enderman's legs. The monster screeched and reached for the captain, but John swapped back to the nether star shield and wrapped rope around the enderman's arm, stopping him in place. The captain raised his sword again and tried to hit the monster, but it teleported away. A wave of darkness spread over the two men as the enderman disappeared, so John summoned back his meteorite shield to guard the two of them. And just in time too as the barrier was soon swarmed with several phantom clones all beating their slender arms against the barrier.

"Damn it, I don't think it'll let us do that again. Any other ideas?" the captain asked, trying to hit the clones through the barrier, however, they all dodged or teleported to the side to avoid his strikes.

Oh great, it learned to avoid melee attacks too. We need an aoe trap or something.

John looked around trying to find anything useful after the blindness wore off, when he spotted a water tower in the distance.

"See that water tower? I'ma try to keep the enderman here, you drop it on my head! Hate Reaction!"

With the phantoms now all angry at him, he jumped to the side as the captain ran for the tower. The phantoms continued to try to break the barrier, but John simply stood there as the phantoms screamed and clawed at his barrier.

*Crack*

*CRASH*

Just as John raised his shield, a large water tower crashed onto his barrer and was blasted open. The enderman phantoms weren't fast enough to react, and got drenched in water, disappearing from the damage. The real one formed once again and screamed as he teleported out of the water. But under the effects of hate reaction, he once again began to crawl towards John, only to hit the water and teleport away once again.

The enderman continued this a few more times as its hands began to crumble from the water. The enderman thrashed around and started attacking randomly, blinded by the pain and forced anger. After a few more tries to reach John, it collapsed onto the ground and just screamed. Finally, the captain walked over and cut off the endermans head, putting the creature out of its misery.

Damn, I kinda feel ba-LOOT!

John quickly ran towards the enderman just as its body began to twist and glow. The captain moved back while John charged into the body as it split into several shards and began to fly in all directions. As he punched one the rest of the shards homed in on him and tried to pierce him, but they all bounced off of him and collapsed to the ground. John walked over to where the body exploded and picked up the ender pearls and eyes of ender and threw an eye of ender at the fragments at his feet. The shards clumped up together and turned into a small purple glove that John put onto his hand.

"I don't suppose anyone has any problems with me keeping this as well, right?" John asked, pointing the glove at the endermans head nearby. It began to float and flew towards John, who shoved it into his shield, unlocking his third head shield.

Ah shoot, I should have kept the skeleton head! I needed that for the set! Well, I guess the best effect is from the chestplate anyways, with it letting me recharge arrows four times as fast and all.

[Items can be pulled out of the inventory of the shield through the use of the Dragon Hourglass]

Oh, that's convenient.

"Of course not, shield hero. You were the one who helped us defeat the boss of the wave. We would be dead if it wasn't for you," the new knight captain said.

"Well said. Well, I'm off to find the fourth boss. I don't know what the other three heroes are doing, but I managed to kill the other two already," John grumbled, walking off. Suddenly he paused and raised his Endersoul Hand. The knight watched as John suddenly disappeared and reappeared away from the village and closer to the wave crack.

"WHY! WONT! YOU! FALL!" Motoyasu yelled, stabbing the mutant zombie over and over again, but the monstrosity just regenerated a second later and attacked him.

"Erst Bash!" Ren slammed his sword, chopping off the zombie's head, but it simply grew another one in its place.

"Erst Shot! How many times do we need to take down this guy?!" Itsuki complained, shooting more arrows at the monster. However, he just regenerated all the damage done to it. It jumped into the air and landed on Motoyasu, sending a shockwave attack at Ren, knocking him back.

"Agh! Damn it!" Motoyasu yelled out in pain as he raised his spear at the monster. "Meteorite Spear!"

The attack knocked the monster back, but it simply regenerated once again and attacked Motoyasu, who was trying to drink a regen potion. However, the monster knocked it out of his hand and began to punch Motoyasu relentlessly. The Spear Hero managed to block and tank his attacks, but the force of the monster's punches was making his bones rattle. He shot off another Erst Javelin at the monster and jumped back to try to get some room to breathe, but it simply rushed at him again.

"Erst Shield!" John yelled, summoning a shield that blocked the monster just long enough for John to push Motoyasu out of the way and tank the attack. A splash potion counter activated and hit the monster in the face, weakening his attacks.

"Where the hell were you John?!" Itsuki yelled at the Shield Hero, as he fired several more arrows at the monster. The boss ignored Itsuki and punched John again, activating the slowness potion counter. John used this as an opportunity to swap his shield to the nether star shield and wrap a rope around the monster's head to pull it down.

"Beating the other three bosses, what's your excuse?!" John yelled, jumping onto the zombie and wrapping the rope around its neck so that he wouldn't fall off. He pushed his shield into the back of the monster and began to unload his healing arrows directly into the flesh of the monster. The hp bar kept dropping and recovering over and over again.

"We killed him several times, but he keeps regenerating and coming back to life!" Motoyasu yelled, slashing the zombie's legs off, but the beast just regenerated them and ran at Motoyasu.

"Do any of you have a fire type skill that sets your enemies on fire?" John asked, pulling at the rope to make it go to the side and slam into a tree instead of Motoyasu.

"Yeah! Burst Lance!" Motoyasu yelled, stabbing the monster with the flaming spear, burning its rotten skin. The monster roared at Motoyasu and tried to hit him, but the other two heroes set their flaming skills at the monster as well, finally putting the monster down.

"Phew, finally. That took way too long," John grumbled, hoping off of the monster.

"It would have been faster if you had been here," Itsuki remarked.

"It would have been deadlier for the villagers if I hadn't been there. And I took care of 3 boss monsters, so don't even try man. This guy is the easiest mutant to beat," John remarked, pointing to the burning pile of flesh.

"He was? The guy was throwing us around like ragdolls!" Motoyasu grumbled.

"Yeah, and I got blown up and hit with arrows and would have been teleported into the sky, so let's say we're even. Oh god damn it," John grumbled as it started to rain. "Why now?"

"Uh, guys, the wave is still going," Itsuki said, looking at the status.

[4/4]

Huh, it should stop now that the last boss is d-HUH?!

[3/4]

"SH*T!" John yelled turning towards the zombie, but he was met with a punch to the face instead, sending him flying. Motoyasu summoned a fireball and threw it at the zombie, setting it on fire, but the rain quickly put it out.

"Like it's not already annoying to deal with. Damn it! Let's get it onto a cave or a house or something so that we can set it on fi-"

*BOOM*

A large thunderbolt suddenly crashed into the mutant zombie, setting it on fire again. But like before, the flame was put out. However, an ominous light blue glow surrounded the zombie, as it looked at the heroes with bright glowing white eyes.

Oh, what in the frankenstein bullsh*t is this?!

Wow, you made it to the end with enough braincells to read this message! Nice! Anyhow, as you can see I used the mutant mod for this wave. I was originally gonna do like 1 mutant creature per wave per country, and have John get the skeleton armor out of a shop or something, but when I brought this up to Mache, (Morale hero and It takes a village writer, check him out he is also in the MWP), saw the idea and just went "Throw in all 4". So now I have a wave be a mod. So if you have suggestions on what I should do for a future wave that will replace the soul eater wave, feel free to comment. I am thinking of using the Robo Pounders and such and see how that mod goes, but thats still in the air. Also yes, John just got a teleporting glove and a baby creeper egg that can be fed tnt and gunpowder for power. He is a menace.
