Peach's Castle
That infamous airship looms over the castle, and their mission is clear to the Royal Guard. Those Toads point their spears, axes, and anything they can find on the ground. Bowser's minions use the ladders to touch down, while Wario just jumps off with an impact.
"IT'S WAAAARIO TIME!"
He hits the ground, which causes a rattle that sends some down. An axe is thrown at him but he returns it to sender! He barrels through more of his opposition like a Chargin' Chuck. Given his times escaping prison, he searches for a wall closest to the underground entrance, all while mopping the guards.
"What a bunch of goobers..."
On the balcony, Luigi hears the shots! "Oh no..the princess!" He runs right back in to find her, only to come across a window. He peaks out and spots a sight he didn't want to see.
Wario heading for a wall, and digging into his overalls. His brows shoot up, noticing what's about to happen. Every time Wario digs into those overalls, nothing good comes from it. He takes off, bracing for the impact.
The item Wario pulled out is very familiar. Another Bomb-Omb, ready to blow any minute. He punts the Bomb at the wall.

A hole's left in the wall, and he walks right in. "How does your kingdom survive with idiots like these?" His question may get answered because as he goes for those stairs..Doctor Mario steps in his way. "Going somewhere?"
Wario pops his neck. "Down, and I'll take you with me."
The doctor slides his black jacket off, and rolls those sleeves up. It's time for a showdown. "Concussion, also called MTBI is a mildly traumatic brain injury. Allow me to demonstrate."
The thief has fire in his eyes. "Do your worst."
The ambush goes from bad to worse, as Bowser's minions take advantage of the explosion and flood the castle. It doesn't take long for the princesses to notice in the main area.
"He has come..."
They grab their staphs and split up.
A Koopa comes at Peach, but she uses her staph like a pole vault! On her way up she kicks him square in the face, and kicks a couple others. She ducks a couple punches and smacks the senders in the head! The more that go down though, the more that come.
She books it back up the stairs for more room. One person in a line full of minions can't go well. On her way up, she stops herself so a panicked Luigi doesn't run her over. "LUIGI!"
"WAAH!" He jumps, but manages to get his words out. "Princess, bad news!"
"What now?" She asks, whacking another Koopa on the head.
"Wario got in."
"..yeah I heard ." She smacks a Koopa out of his shell and hands it to him. "Keep ahold of that."
A few Koopas are ran through while an actual Chargin' Chuck makes a b-line right for them! The two are ready to defend themselves, but he's suddenly encased in a ice block! The two turn to see Daisy in a white-blue dress, holding two ice flowers.
"You're a lifesaver..." Luigi says, but she just tosses the flowers at them. Once they grab hold, they start to transform. Peach's dress transforms into a blue one, with little white to be seen. Luigi's getup shifts from green, to a lighter blue. There's still a mob coming, but they're about to get cold treatment...
The minions that come in, the more end up just like Chuck.
A certain plumber in bed hears the commotion from the Medbay. The first thing he sees when getting up is a few Dry Bones, clacking at him. They charge but he hops out of bed.
One of the monstrosities swipe at him, but his arm is caught..and his head is just ripped off! The plumber groans at his snapping head and just hurls it! All that's left is a pile of rattling bones. Mario leaves the room and hears clanging. He takes a deep breath..but then it hits him. He clenches Hos fists.
"Waluigi..."
He takes off straight for the underground. He's hurt but that won't stop him from beating some Wario ass.
Speaking of Wario, he's got a bruised shoulder. That's not the worst injury, but he's on the Doctor's about to get banged up again. That doctor's casually lifting that weight, but there's some strain as sweat pours down his forehead. He eyes a glass table...
Wario gets launched right through it! The Doc wipes his hands clean, but a Paratroopa closes in with a kick. But his foot is caught and he gets slammed onto the ground! Another flies in but receives a nasty uppercut! Doctor Mario's on a roll!
More of the fliers come in, but Doc holds both hands up and fires pills from both! It's like angels getting shot down from the sky. They can't go anywhere with the number of pills sniping them down. The Doc can shoot when convenient so this might as well be a losing battle.
But Wario's bike blasts him out of nowhere! That takes the wind from his sails as the menace just scoops his vehicle back up. Before he heads downstairs, he just has to rub it in. "No meds in the world can fix that sting!"
The doctor's left behind as Wario heads on down, busts through the door! It goes flying, and his partner in crime jumps to his feet and starts shaking the bars. "I knew you'd come! This is why YOU are the brawn and I'm the brains!"
"We're both the full package. Now back up." He commands. Once Waluigi releases the bars, Wario just splits them apart! His partner slides out, finally free. "Let's make like bananas and—"
"Hello." The two turn to see Mario with a mallet in hand. No smiles, no happiness, nothing. It's time to take care of business. The bandages on his body won't stop him from what he's about to do.
Waluigi gets in a karate stance. "Stand back! You may have the power but Waluigi is about to lay down the skill!" He goes for a Roundhouse...but his foot is caught.
Hammer to the balls! Ouch…
"WAAAAAAAHHH!"
Waluigi just collapses, writhing in pain. "N-not my little weegees..." Wario charges that plumber anyways. He just gets swatted to the wall! Seeing that the Wario's are down, he drops that hammer and rolls those sleeves up.
"Let's-a go..."
A dozen Goombas charge him from behind, but Mario spins around like a tornado, wiping them all just like that! A Fire Bro shoots balls at him but the plumber ducks and shoots one right back! No other minions seem to be coming through, so it's leaves him alone with the Wario's.
He drops the hammer and gives them the hand to hand they wanted. "You want a second round? Come and get me!" Wario hurls his bike at him, but he catches it! He sends it straight to Wario who gets a taste of his own medicine! Mario has an upper hand in the battle. If he can finish them off, he has a shot to send the Koopa packing.
While he takes care of them, the Ice Trio's still trying their hardest to hold down the fort. With how many minions are frozen it's hard to get anywhere. Not to mention, the strain of constant blasting could be getting to people.
Daisy's already tired of this and addresses her cousin. "They just keep coming! We're usually able to move, this is just a chore."
"It can get exhausting, but we can't back down. We're the only people in the way of Bowser getting what he wants." She reminds her.
The whole castle shakes, knocking everyone in the room off balance! Heroes and minions alike hit the ground. Dust falls from the ceiling above, and the Princess gasps. "It's him!"
The Koopa King CRASHES through the ceiling and reigns some hell! Daisy goes to freeze him, but he grabs her hand and delivers a nasty punch that sends her flying! Her dress returns to normal as the baddie heads towards his other adversaries. "That's a backhand courtesy of the Koopa Kingdom. Now you..."
The two have no choice but to go for him. One tail whip sends Luigi down the stairs! Peach and Bowser are alone, and the Koopa decides to gloat about it. "New day, same story princess. When will you accept your fate?"
She swings at him, but he just uses it to pull her into his grasps. She tries to squirm out but his grips just too tight. "Let me go!"
"Are you surprised, Princess? I haven't left you alone for years and i won't start now!"
While he boasts, Luigi spots Daisy on her knees. She huffs, trying to balance herself in some way. He's already on his knees though, hurt but not as bad as she is. The reality of situation hits him. He may be the last line of defense here. Daisy might as well be out, Doctor Mario's out, Yoshi's nowhere to be seen, and he doesn't even know where Mario is. But if he knows one thing, it's that he needs to rescue the princess.
He forces himself up the stairs despite crashing onto them, clawing at every step. His back is in pain but he can't just sit by and let this happen. He reaches the top, and the Koopa spots him. "That's cute...but I must be going. Tell your brother he's losing out!"
He hops up through the same hole he came in, leaving Luigi alone. The plumber just stares at the ground. There's no sugarcoating it, he failed. It was his job to step up and he couldn't do it. His mouth is hanging open, like he's in a trance.
Mario doesn't even know it yet.
Speaking of the plumber, he's still got his hands full with the partners in crime.
Waluigi's still out after that brutal shot, but Wario's trying to hold his own. Unfortunately, Mario's a man on a mission. Wario pins him him to the wall and goes for a headbutts, but his opponent dodges and he eats the wall instead! The plumber lifts Wario up with shaky legs and all. It's no easy task, and draining on the body so Wario slides behind him and crawls away.
His own partner winces. "He's weak! Wario you don't have to do mu—" Mario uses him as a stepping stone to get to the powerhouse of the duo. With the bigger thief down, he swings him around like he's lightweight, and sends him THROUGH prison bars! "Ouch! Maybe hit a little slow—"
Wario takes a nasty shot to his nose, and collapses. Mario stands over him, and sets a boot on his chest. "It's-a over." He uses him as a pad, looking to finish him off with a brutal stomp...
..but Waluigi dropkicks him on the chin! He gets sent back to the floor, as the target rolls to his feet. This time, he has Mario right where he wants him. Wario yanks him up by the overalls, and grabs him by the throat.
"Like I said. The Wario's are gonna win."
He Chokeslams him on the bare concrete, making his back issues even worse than they already are. Mario writhes in pain from the attack, and although his backs not broken, that slam doesn't help the matter.
"Move, the airships retreating." Wario says, dragging a wounded Waluigi out of there before the plumber can recover, leaving him in the dust. He got one over Wario last time but wounds catch up with people. If he had a couple days rest, he could have been able to take them.
Yet that's what's so smart about this strategy. Strike them at the worst time possible. In the end, Bowser's call could succeed.
The feeling of loss is hitting everyone on the Mushroom Kingdom's side. Luigi's just sitting, thinking to himself about the blown opportunity. He doesn't even notice a Hammer Bro targeting him with an intent to kill. He chucks it at the plumber, unaware of his fate...
But a tongue catches it and retreats into the mouth of Yoshi! With new ammunition, Yoshi spits that hammer right back and knocks the bro out! His first instinct is to make a b-line for the plumber. "LUIGI!"
That plumber turns around to see that Yoshi in his face. "Hm?"
"He almost got you! You were staring at the floor..."
Daisy brushes herself off and heads for the two. She's holding her cheek because of that backhand. "You guys ok?"

"..no."
"Me neither, he smacked the hell out of me."
"..."
She has a feeling about where this going and tries to raise his spirit. "We're not sitting ducks. Don't get your pants in a twist." All Luigi can do is brush his hat off. "I'll be fine…" He'll be back in it soon, but this day went from bad to worse. Not just for him, but for all of the Mushroom Kingdom. Their leader is gone again and now they have to take action.
Even worse, Mario's not a hundred percent. He'll still need a good day to heal. Who even knows if that will be enough time to save the day.
Bowser's Airship
The airship departs from the castle, leaving Peach in an environment she doesn't deserve to be familiar with. The princess won't take her eyes off her castle, which leaves her vision. She's outnumbered massively and can't do much about it.
It's a win for Bowser, who wastes no time driving it home. "They'll be fine. They always come back like the roaches they are, especially that pesky plumber. Can't get a day of domination with any of 'em in the picture."
Peach doesn't say a word, and keeps looking on. The king decides to stand by her side and get a good view too. "Don't do anything stupid." She kicks his foot, and takes her chance! She lunges forward for a getaway..but The Wario's just grab her before she can leave!
The Koopa shakes his foot off. "Oh Star Spirits do heels hurt!" He stomps over to the Princess, willing to do anything for an escape. "Listen good! We're mature adults, we don't throw temper tantrums when we don't get what we want. Got it?"
"Oh that's funny coming from YOU of all people!"
"I'm the exception!" Despite her resistance, Bowser's still trying to convince her. Her straight face through the whole thing tells him everything, but he's relentless about it. "That Royal life has to be mundane. 'Oh let's sit and pretend to like everyone.' GAH, who needs all that?! It's more fun livin' on the edge."
"..."
Bowser crosses his arms. "Give me the cold shoulder, that's fine. You'll have nobody else to warm you up when my kingdom crushes those pesky plumbers!"
As the airship travels, his laughter echoes through the sky.
"BWAHAHAHAHA!"
