This was not going to be an easy task.
It was tricky but it wasn't necessarily impossible It's when Amela told her she was going to run to the store. she realized it was going to be much easier than she thought.
" Well hun I'm going to head to the store. I think I'll walk this time. I could use the exercise. it should take me a bit longer though. I hope you don't mind waiting a hour or two."
Amela was just about ready to walk out the door.
" No not at all. I'll just stay here. Watch TV, talk to the dolls. Maybe listen to the radio even though that's not really my thing. but who knows, maybe I'll hear a story I actually like".
"Thinking outside the box. I see. I like that. you always are such a creative girl. that's what I love about you.
You are always so curious about all the secrets of the universe. curiosity is a beautiful thing. don't you lose it".
" Oh no I'll never lose my curiosity and creativity, That's just part of who I am and that's how I'll always be. I'll always venture a new places and discover new things. You're always learning right? so why stop now?"
" Well you enjoy yourself and I know you won't get into any trouble.
The dolls will make sure of that".
Although she didn't see any malice in her expression, she did feel slightly queasy after she said that and left the house.
" All right then you guys going to Tell on me or what?"
"It depends what you're going to do".
The dolls spoke as one voice.
" I'm looking for answers. Perhaps I won't have to venture any further but I have questions. can you answer them for me?"
"We Can"
" The graveyard the one that's supposed to be secret. it's empty, isn't it?"
"yes it always has been but that's not all, It's the whole graveyard. the whole graveyard is empty.".
" Wait what? You mean there's nobody buried up there on the hill?"
One of the places that should have been a tourist attraction was a abandoned asylum and right along aside the asylum on the top of the hill overlooking the town was a huge cemetery.
It was not just for the patients that had lived there long ago, but it was also of those that had had died well before and well after the asylum.
It was meant to inhabit all the bodies of those that had died for the last thousand years.
" Yes, all of them are gone. It is as if They were never there at all.".
" So you're saying they were there before?
So if they were there before who moved them and where are they now?"
" The boiler room".
" You're joking. a couple million dead bodies are down in one basement.
Yeah right."
" Go to the boiler room. you'll find your answers there".
" You girls aren't going to tell on me, are you, right?"
"We are prisoners here.
We are held here against our will. we want to rebel.
If you go down to the boiler room we won't say a word.
We don't have lips that anyone can pry the words from."
" Okay fair enough. I'll go down there but you're going to have to tell me when anybody else is out here. like tell me when she's home or whenever any of those other ladies are here.
Just be on the lookout you know."
" We will watch. we will wait and we will let you know".
" Good, thank you yet you know It just occurred to me that the basement is probably going to be locked and I don't know where the key is."
"There is no key.
there is no door knob.
The door itself is an illusion.
Everyone just goes through it".
" All righty then. so I just go through a solid door without thinking is what you're saying?"
" Yes, go through the door".
" Well since you guys are usually pretty honest, I'm going to take your word for it and I'll go down there. I'm really quick. I'm going to come back up here and we'll take it from there".
"Hurry. Don't linger long".
" Oh don't you worry? I don't plan on making a day of it.
I'll Grab some evidence down there. better yet I won't take anything. I meant I'm going to take evidence mentally and store it in my brain and then I'm going to rush back up here.
This is going to be quick and easy.
I don't make a habit of lingering in people's basements. I don't think anybody makes a habit of doing that unless they're freaking weirdos.
I mean I've seen enough horror movies to know like you're not even supposed to go down to the basement. it's always cursed or there's dead bodies down there which I'm kind of expecting.
I don't know what I'm going to find down there. It's probably not going to be anything good.
You all probably know what's down there already and for some reason you want me to find it out for myself.
I would much rather you just tell me, but then you're not the first individuals to tell me to go down there let's just say.
Don't lose your curiosity. she says. don't worry I won't. I'll take my curiosity all the way down to the basement and you're not going to know about it.
You better not know about it because if you do you're probably going to kill me. Okay I'm just going to go walk through that door and hope I don't fall down the stairs and break something."
The basement door was white and there was a doorknob but when she grabbed for it it went straight through her hand as if it was just a mere hologram rather than a solid object.
"Okay here it goes."
She closed her eyes and stepped through the door.
The room she had entered she noticed was very chilly and she could see her breath very clearly.
There was a gift does she had not even been entirely honest to the women that she met within this cottage and that was how she heard certain truths.
She often heard them sing to her in either a single voice or in a choir.
This voice was soft and it reminded her of Billie eilish and it sounded like one of those sweet somber ballads that she would sing.
there was once a woman who ventured beyond this realm, The man was tall and thin old but not old at heart carried her away. He sought to destroy the world and empty it of all it's dead but his heart grew soft and tender for he found the beauty of love.
before her he'd found her, He found justice truth and compassion.
It wasn't love at first but through friendship love grew and after many millennia that love grew a child.
however, her children went to inhabit the Earth and they disguised their immortality amongst human kind.
They all had gifts, beautiful abilities, some were revered others were feared some were judged and shunned but then there were those that held on to the evil of their father before them.
Those of evil intentions arose to purify the Earth from those that would defy them.
They locked away the pure and innocent, in cages, freezers, chains and even in coffins under ground.
There was nothing that could kill them get them, they found a new punishment, They ripped out their souls into other vessels, to be prisoners for eternity.
The room she had entered look very similar to a freezer which would explain why the air so cold.
There appeared to be a series of body bags hung from what would be the rafters, however, she noticed that along the walls there appear to be the mummified remains several bodies.
Now normally such a place as a basement would be not as ample and spacious as this but miraculously this basement seem to consist of several rooms and the ceilings seem to stretch on and on up to eternity.
She realized in her eye that was she was looking at was not only thousands but millions of bodies stacked up on the walls and millions of bodies hanging in a similar fashion.
most appeared to be peaceful in someone untouched but horror gripped her heart What you saw that some of the jaws were broken and some of the wrinkled lips were sewn shut.
There were even a few of the bodies that appeared to have their eyes sewn shut as well.
They were broken bones in several different places amongst this realm of of long deceased corpses.
She wasn't just looking at bodies that had just been taken from the local cemetery but she was looking at an entire massacre of people that possibly were just like her, innocent and pure and very powerful.
She almost lost herself amongst the maze that consisted of chains, caskets body bags and broken bones.
There were a few skeletons here and there but it seemed that they had been considered as mere refuse and they were not even placed in a proper container or any type of vessel that would protect them.
These she knew with the so-called normal people that had lived there all their lives and died what confused her is why these group of women would want such relics from the past and she wondered why they were treated with such disrespect.
Then it dawned on her that if all these organizations had descended from two common ancestors than that meant that all of these organizations were consisted of relatives and cousins, so it was quite possible that these women that lived within this town were her relatives as well.
So if she rebelled against these women, she would be rebelling against her own family.
Who could she trust Zerina or her own blood?
