Chapter Five

With the information gathered from Marlene, Sirius couldn't contain his excitement to share it with James. He knew his friend was eager to get to know Kagome Higurashi better, and this newfound insight into her life would be a priceless asset.

The sun had dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the Hogwarts castle. Sirius hurried through the dimly lit corridors, making his way to the Gryffindor dormitory. James had a knack for burning the midnight oil with his endless scheming and plotting, and tonight was no different.

As Sirius reached the door, he could hear the scratching of James's quill against parchment. Without bothering to knock, he swung the door open and strode into the room, a triumphant grin stretching across his face.

"Prongs, my man, I've got the goods!" Sirius announced dramatically, his voice echoing in the otherwise quiet room.

James looked up from his notebook, startled by Sirius's sudden entrance. "What are you on about, Padfoot?"

Sirius dramatically handed over the notebook he had swiped from Marlene, his eyes glittering with anticipation. "All the information you need about Kagome Higurashi. Every little detail."

James accepted the notebook, his eyes widening in awe as he flipped through its pages. It was a treasure trove of information about the enigmatic girl he was determined to get to know better. Marlene had unwittingly provided a window into Kagome's world, and James was eager to peek through it.

"Where did you get this?" James asked, still in disbelief at the sheer amount of information Marlene had shared.

Sirius winked slyly, his secret source still under wraps. "Let's just say I have my ways, mate. Now, you've got everything you need to sweep this Kagome off her feet."

James nodded, his mind already racing with ideas and strategies. "Thanks, Padfoot. I owe you one."

Sirius waved it off with a grin. "Just make sure you make Lily regret the day she turned you down."

Kagome was going about her day as she always did. She had no inkling that James Potter was now armed with a notebook full of intimate knowledge about her, ready to make his move. Kagome was accustomed to blending into the background, and the notion of someone pursuing her romantically had never crossed her mind.

Days turned into weeks, and James meticulously planned his approach. He knew that he had to stand out from the countless boys who had pursued Kagome in the past. Grand gestures and flashy displays weren't always his style; he wanted to make a genuine connection. He had only did those things to get Lily's attention because everything else had been shot down. He hoped that Kagome was different. She wasn't like Lily at all...so he hoped he had a chance.

One serene afternoon, with the sun reflecting off the calm surface of the Black Lake, Kagome sat beneath a sprawling tree, engrossed in a book. She had no idea that fate was about to intervene, and her world was on the cusp of change.

Approaching with cautious confidence, James strolled towards Kagome. He wore a charming smile that he hoped would make a lasting impression.

"Hello there," he greeted, taking a seat next to her. "Mind if I join you?"

Kagome looked up from her book, slightly taken aback by the intrusion but not at all uncomfortable. "Oh, not at all. It's a free spot by the lake."

James grinned, feeling encouraged by her response. "I'm James, by the way. James Potter."

Kagome closed her book and extended her hand, offering him a polite smile and a laugh, "It is hard not to know who you are, Potter..." She looked at him, seeing something like caution cross his face before she gave him a small but real smile, "...but...Nice to meet you officially, James. I'm Kagome Higurashi."

Their hands met in a handshake, and James couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement. He had taken the first step, and now it was up to him to show Kagome that he was different from anyone she had met before.

Unbeknownst to both of them, their lives were poised for an unexpected turn. They were embarking on a journey of friendship, romance, and magic that neither could have predicted, as the pages of their story continued to unfold.
