Arc 0: The Isekaied Protagonist

Prologue

"Stand, attention, bow, sit!"

The class recited as they did perform the classroom ritual of greeting their teachers when they enter the classroom. They stood up, stand still until everyone is up, bow before finally be seated.

The class had already prepared their study materials, which included their school issued D-Pad and in some students' cases, writing materials and utensils.

This is the standard norm for the students of LDS, which stands for Leo Duel School. A preparatory school for dueling in Maiami City. On top of that, this is also the most prestigious school in Maiami City. Another thing of note is that the school is owned by Leo Corporation.

Leo Corporation is the most well-known company in Maiami City. It's main focus is gaming, but compared to other companies, this one introduced the concept of "Solid Vision with mass". It was this development that make this company a very successful company.

What makes it a strong development?

Firstly, we must understand the main setting of Maiami City. The city is set on the coast of Japan and the most prominent landmark of the city is none other than Leo Corporation building along with a few notable landmarks like the Maiami Duel Stadium and a few other Duel Schools; with the most prominent being Leo Duel School. The city, or rather, the world itself runs primarily on dueling. With that said, dueling is literally the currency of the world.

The currency they use is Duel Points or DP. They are used in everything in their lives, ranging from trading to services. That said, poverty is never an issue in this world. There are many ways to acquire them; occupation nets them the most DP depending on the type of work they do while the easiest and at the same time most consistent source of DP income is none other than dueling.

Lastly, dueling is both a source of income and entertainment for the world. They use Solid Vision in addition to dueling. Solid Vision is basically an interactive holographic projection, in layman's term, it allows the cards to be projected like they are real living creatures. Maiami City's Solid Vision is special in that they possess mass, which allows the general public to touch and interact with them, albeit limited.

Anyways, we now return to the classroom.

As the class sat down, their teacher took a few moments to examine his class. In his few years of teaching in this school, he easily identified the students with the most potential, the most problems, the quiet, the annoying and even the bully. When he is done, he then began.

"Welcome to your first day at Leo Duel School or as we call it LDS," he spoke as if he had recited the very same for the umpteenth time. "You are here to learn from the best, and BE the best, if not better." He added. "Therefore, as a professor of LDS, it is our duty to learn from each other. A give and take exchange."

The professor went on as he eyed a student closest to the teacher's desk. The student stared back with a chill up his spine.

"I can teach you how to create a competent deck, which will consistently win you 60% of your duels." He snapped his gaze to a student in the back who began to mingle with the girl next to him. "I will EXPECT-" his emphasis on the word seem to have caught their attention as they snapped back to their teacher, "-FULL ATTENTION in my class." This actually made the class curious as some would swivel their head slightly to catch a glimpse on the offender.

"But most importantly," he paused and in one fluid and methodical motion, turned his back to them. The way he delivered "importantly" made every student in the class silent and paid full attention to their potentially strict and experienced professor. They will take this final ultimatum to heart as his delivery seem to shook them up. They were also expecting the worst and made a mental preparation for his next words. But what came next, seem to made the class more confused than ever:

"Have fun."

He spoke casually.

There was pregnant pause to the class with the exception of the professor's shuffling. No body know what to do next as their first impression of their professor has left them with a strong impact.

"Now, before we continue our first day, let us start with a simple meet and greet."

The professor took a chalk and wrote his name on the board:

Kyou Yuuki

"I am Kyou Yuuki, your professor for Ritual, Fusion, Synchro and Xyz Summoning. At the same time, I will also be your go to for deck building and advice. My door is always open to everyone, therefore you may meet me anytime you want, with some limitations and expectations of course." He added the last part as he had experienced certain students pulling pranks of meeting during off hours.

Again, this seemed to have another lasting impression on his would-be students. One does not simply brag about their achievements and not back it up. Of which he added again: "If you doubt my capabilities, then we may switch from theory to practical any time anywhere. Any volunteers?"

Which thankfully, no one did… yet.

Hours later, it is recess and the professor took his leave for break. He tidied up his desk and make his way out to the teacher's lounge. Along the way, he passed through students, some of which new and most of them seniors. The latter would instantly recognize him and greet him with varying response ranging from quiet and reserved to boisterous and enthusiastic. It would seem, Professor Kyou, or in some cases, Kyou-sensei is popular among the students. Not only that, his colleagues would even greet him with a silent but noticeable wave. This is the norm for Kyou-sensei as he is the most popular teacher in LDS.

There are three ways of being popular in the teaching department. The first, is through fear. This is the easiest method but can be the hardest to maintain. The second is through familiarity and rapport which have their own downsides. The last method is through experience and knowledge, which again has their fair share of weaknesses.

Kyou-sensei is all of them. Strict, but kind enough to allow mistakes and even freedom. Knowledgeable but also resourceful and flexible as he accepts any new knowledge and being able to use them. He had 5 years of experience teaching in LDS however, he is also, as other professors claimed, a prodigy in the art of teaching.

On his first lesson, his mentor was thoroughly impressed at his proficiency in handling the class. His superiors, at first, were very skeptical at his resume as he claimed to be able to perform all method of summoning. After his trial by fire, he was immediately approved and then his shift began. Moreover, after the first week, he became every respective student and colleague's favourite person. On a side note, he even had a secret fan club which to this day he is unaware of.

Now, one must wonder, how does such a person, who is considered the definition of perfection exist. Not only is he popular, he is also handsome, diligent and approachable. To the rest of the world he is Kyou Yuuki, the best LDS professor. However, to the person in question, well…

Yuuki's Point of View

Works all the time, at least in this anime world. Honestly, that could have lost its impact with it being the 5th time I say those words, it's a good thing I learn how to speak in my old life.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, rather I like my new life. Verily. Being an Isekai protagonist is by far the best thing to have ever occur to me. Albeit to an anime which I was a fan of. The anime I am reincarnated, yes, reincarnated in is called Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V. A card game anime that plays children card games to save the world from apocalyptic world ending phenomenon. That sounded ridiculous but its anime.

Now, as an Isekai protagonist, I can be considered lucky as I am in an anime where I am competent in. Firstly, I played the card game, a fan of it and on top of it all, knows about future events that have not but will come soon. Next, like some, I was granted some privileges during the transfer which I'll delve into it in time. Lastly, I am having fun, that's the best part about it all.

Anyways, I have 45 minutes for my break time before my next lesson.

Let's talk about the timetable of LDS. The curricular here follows the Japanese education system, which the students start their lesson from 8:45 in the morning to 3:15 in the afternoon. There are a total of six 50 minute period and every period grants a 15 minute break. After the third period the students gets a 45 minute of lunch break. Once the curriculum ends, the students either leave for home or join extracurricular activities either sports or cultural.

Not only the students, but the teachers also have their own individual time tables. Let's start from my timetable. Because of my proficiency, my timetable is more colourful compare to most other professors. In which case, we shall compare mine with Professor Marco, a fusion teacher in LDS. As a fusion teacher, his time table is full of purples (which indicates fusion) and he taught advanced theories of fusion summoning to the students of LDS. Mine, on the other hand, has blue (Ritual), purple (Fusion), white (Synchro) and black (Xyz) plastered on each respective row representing the days of the month. On Monday, I will teach ritual, Tuesday fusion so on and so forth. That said, Friday is a free day for me.

Oh, let's not forget one more colour, orange, which represents the effect monster's card frame. This is to represent general knowledge classes like overall studies, staple card studies, basic subject and so on.

Now with that out of the way, I best finish my lunch break before my fusion class starts. I entered the teacher's lounge and was greeted to the familiar sight of my colleagues both senior and junior having their lunch. Some of which stood by vending machines, drinking and mingling, others at desks sharing meals and mingle all the same.

I took to my desk which is at the opposite end of the entrance but in view of it. I sat down and is immediately greeted by my colleague.

"Well done, Senpai." My junior complimented. This may sound weird but I am trying my hardest to interpret everything they say. Essentially, they are using the terminology for being hard working and a neutral compliment to a job well done.

I turned and met my colleague.

She is a young teacher with shoulder length long straight dark indigo hair with lavender highlights. She wore a grey uniform with some gold and red trims. This is Ibi Richua, my junior.

However, I recognize her as a non-anime character who appear in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V Tag Force Special NPC. She made her appearance in an earlier title called ZEXAL World Duel Carnival. Ibi-sensei is polite and treats everyone with the same courtesy. I also know that she is secretly rich, living in a luxurious apartment somewhere in Maiami City. Also… according to the game bio, she keeps a lot of massive aquariums in her home.

These are the only things I know about her. However, knowing her in-game and knowing her in person are incomparable experience. We only know her as a polite person and most importantly, she WAS an operator of Leo corporation. Now all of a sudden, she is a teacher in LDS and is a teacher-in-training under MY mentorship.

"Thank you, Ibi-sensei," I replied. "How was your day?"

"Fine thank you," She answered as she unpacked her lunch box. "Did you scare the new students again?" she asked rhetorically.

"You know it." I replied with small grin.

To be fair, I have a little crush on her, the usual gamer liking an anime character kind of crush. That was before. Now, I am very attracted to her. I mean, can you blame me? In my previous life, I was your standard typical civil servant, working as a teacher. Now, I am a civil servant in an anime, which is secretly a big upgrade to me.

"So how is your lesson as of late?" I inquired as per my duty as her superior and mentor.

"It has been going fine, thank you for asking," she responded with a smile, "I have prepared all my materials before all my classes." She brought out her reference sheet and show me her lessons and material.

I got through it all. Noting some key points like ritual, practical, theorem and even stories. Well guess someone took a leaf out of my book. Because I recognized a few similarities between our materials. On top of that, she even added a story portion to her lesson, something that I jokingly suggested to her. If she is doing well so far, I suppose it did work. "Well done, Ibi-sensei." I complimented as I returned her materials and continue my lunchbreak.

"That said…" she added which caught my attention again. "I might need some help with this." She gestured to a part of her material.

I peered at the part in question, Practical Exercise.

Practical Exercise is this world's version of Physical Education, in which the students participate in duels instead of physical exercises. This would have been the best form of P.E. for an otaku like me. I mean, I wasn't physically active in my old life, not anymore.

"I see. You want me to be your partner for Practical Exercise?" I reiterate, which she nodded, "Sure, since today's Friday-" which is my free period, "-I have all the time to help out."

"Thank you senpai." She seemed to radiate with delight at my acceptance but nonetheless, I best finish my lunch and prepare myself.

Richua Point of View

I can't help but be excited at the thought of having Kyou-senpai as my partner for my upcoming lesson. He is after all a celebrity in LDS.

Firstly, he is capable of performing not one, not two but four different summoning method. That by itself is an impressive feat. Another thing about Kyou-senpai is how good looking he is.

He is quite tall, standing at 178cm, he has short two-toned hair with his sides looking like white wing sprouting outwards and the crown is equally as spiky but navy. He has green eyes behind his square framed glasses. His face is somewhat rugged but angular at the same time, a balance between stereotypical brawn and brain appearance. Like the rest of the faculty members, he is as tidy as everyone is, but with the exception of having the blue uniform that is exclusive to high-ranking personnel. Other than that, he wore a pair of jet-black trousers and black leather loafers.

I will admit, he does look handsome and his eagerness only boost his appeal. If I wasn't working, I would like to invite him for cup of coffee.

In any case, lunchbreak is almost over and both Kyou-senpai and I will be heading out soon. Kyou-senpai seem to have it easy as he barely need to prepare his materials and is able to deliver his lesson without a problem. It was something that I envy a lot when I was training under his tutelage. He groomed himself through a mirror before tidying up.

When he does that, I was confused as to why he, a man, would groom himself. Normally, it is us women who would more often than not spend some time in our own vanity. When I asked him, his answer confuses me even further.

"Before I face the world, I must first face myself."

But regardless, we took off to our class which is in the arena. The arena itself is huge, like a large stadium with four different dueling fields. LDS have many duel arenas like this one.

When we arrived, our students greeted us as we took their attendance. Once we're done, I began:

"Good afternoon everyone, welcome to our ritual practical exercise. We will learn how to perform ritual summoning." I moved aside and allowed my senpai to have some attention to him, "Joining me on this practice is none other than Kyou-sensei."

The students start muttering positively.

"He and I will be demonstrating the methods of ritual summoning." I continued, "But first, a refresher." I raised my volume to catch their attention, "Which one of you can tell me, the requirements for ritual summoning?"

A few hands rose. I picked one of them, "You need to have a ritual monster?" the student answered hesitantly.

"Is that all?" I pressed, to which the same student hesitated even more. Another student raised their hand to help their fellow classmate.

"A ritual spell." They spoke with confidence.

"Correct," I reiterated, "To perform ritual summoning, you must have a ritual spell and a ritual monster in hand to summon them. However, that is not enough! Can anyone tell me why?"

No one raised their hands however they did swivel their heads to see who could answer this question.

"You need some sacrifices in order to ritual summon." My senpai cut in. "Think of it this way, a bunch of hungry people-"

Wait what?

"-they were so hungry, they want some food. So one day, they found a chef who is willing to prepare them something delicious. However, the chef has nothing to cook for them. So, he gave them an offer, sacrifice someone and I will make you a meal to die for. So the cunning one survived and the rest of his friends were sacrificed. The chef cooked his meal and wouldn't you know, he gets a burger, one that eats him up."

I could only stare at my superior's outlandish story, until he brought out two cards, Hamburger Recipe and Hungry Burger. It was then realization dawned on me, he was using stories to teach the class. I better take notes because my students were positively absorbing everything my senpai said.

"And so, class, can you repeat the requirements for ritual summoning?"

"A ritual spell card, a ritual monster, and at least a sacrifice."

"Thank you, Kyou-sensei." I suppose I have a long way to go. "Now then everyone, form up with your partners and we will be practising ritual summoning together." The class did as they were told and when they are done, they stood together. "Alright, now Kyou-sensei and I will both demonstrate how to perform ritual summoning, so take notes."

I approach one of the fields and Kyou-senpai stood at the opposite side of the same field.

"I've always wanted to duel with you senpai," I admitted.

"So that was why you wanted to have me as a partner, I expected as much, very well then Ibi-sensei, let's begin."

"DUEL"

We both drew 5 cards. Then a display shows our Life Points at 4000.

Ibi Richua - 4000

Kyou Yuuki - 4000

I decided to go first.

"I shall begin first," since this is the first turn we do not draw, "I activate the effect of Gishki Shadow." I reveal the card, "I can discard it to add a "Gishki" Ritual Spell from my Deck to my hand." I send the card to the Graveyard slot. My deck slot then ejected a card, "I add Gishki Aquamirror." I showed my opponent the green card that was added.

"Next, I summon Gishki Beast (Water/Level 4/Beast/Effect/1500/1300)." A green beast appear to my field, "When this monster is normal summoned, I can target and special summon a Level 4 or lower "Gishki" monster in my Graveyard." The monster that I previously discarded was ejected from the Graveyard slot. "Return, Gishki Shadow (Water/Level 4/Sea Serpent/Effect/1200/1000)." This time, a blue fish like creature in black robes holding a staff appear.

A few of my students reacted with fascination as I can hear some positive commentary from them. My opponent was unfazed rather, he seemed to be occupied with the Duel Disk instead. My senpai had drilled this lesson into me regarding that. The Duel Disk we used allowed us to have an overview of the entire Duel, namely the cards in the Graveyard and the field. What my senpai was doing, is reading the effects of the cards that were played or revealed. Honestly, his lesson stuck with as I find myself winning more duels consistently and be more prepared for what's to come.

"What do you think Kyou-senpai." I spoke trying to catch his attention.

He looked at me, presumably finished his reading, "Quite standard. Gishki's main gimmicks are their capabilities of Ritual Summoning monsters with field and hand control. However, their biggest weakness is their somewhat restrictive summoning condition in that they need to be equal compare to others that can either have equally as many or more than the Ritual Monster." He analysed accurately. As expected of my senpai.

"That's correct senpai," I responded and continued my turn, "We aren't finished yet because now I will activate Gishki Aquamirror. Now I can ritual summon a Gishki Ritual Monster by tributing monsters from my field or hand whose total Level equal the Level of the Ritual Monster I am Ritual Summoning."

A symbol that is similar to the card appear on the field.

"Normally, you will need to have the exact level to Ritual Summon any Gishki Ritual Monster, however I active Gishki Shadow's effect. When I ritual summon 1 Water Ritual Monster that requires a monster as a tribute, this card can be used as the entire requirement." The fishlike monster got absorbed into the symbol, "With this, I bring forth Evigishki Levianima (Water/Level 8/Aqua/Ritual/Effect/2700/1500)." A winged serpent like creature holding a sword appear. "And I end my turn." I declared.

My opponent studied my monsters and he was slightly disappointed as I could see him sigh. "You should have brought out Gustkraken."

I was surprised, "What do you mean?" I could not help but question his decision.

"Let me tell you something about your hand," he spoke and I instinctively looked at them, "I believe you have Gishki Abyss in your hands." He was right, I do have that card in my hand, "If you had summoned it, you could add Gustkraken into your hand, alternatively Gishki Shadow. But point is, when you summoned Gishki Gustkraken, not only would you be able to see 2 cards in my hand, you can also put me at a disadvantage since I would have start off with 4 cards in my hand on my turn." Again, he was right, why didn't I thought of it. Ah, he wasn't done, "Now, imagine this, if you are capable of Ritual Summoning Gustkraken again and again, I would be at a complete disadvantage."

True, Gustkraken's effect allows me to see 2 cards in his hand and return them to the deck. Moreover, this effect is not once per turn but rather every time it was ritual summoned. Taking notes again.

"But overall, you still have much to learn," he commented before drawing his card. Kyou-senpai looked at his hand and undoubtedly visualized his strategy. "I activate the spell Foolish Burial. With it, I can send 1 monster from my Deck to the Graveyard. With this, I send Drytron Delta Altais." A card ejected itself and he sends it to the Graveyard slot.

"Next, from my Graveyard, I activate the effect of Drytron Delta Altais (Light/Level 1/Machine/Effect/2000/0)." He revealed the card in question, "This card cannot be normal summoned or set. However, I can special summon it from my hand or Graveyard by tributing 1 other "Drytron" or Ritual monster from my hand or field."

I can see a futuristic machine dragon appear. I have never heard of Drytron, but I have seen them in action before, they are the centre piece to his Ritual Summoning.

"And when summoned this way, I can draw a card after I reveal a Ritual Monster or Ritual Spell." Of which he did, and he showed me a Level 12 Ritual Monster, which when I confirm in my Duel Disk as Drytron Meteonis Quadrantis. "Next, from my Graveyard, I activate Drytron Zeta Aldhibah (Light/Level 1/Machine/Effect/2000/0)." I recognize the monster as the card he sent to the Graveyard to bring out Delta, "Just like Delta with their summoning condition, only when he's summoned I can add 1 Ritual Spell from my Deck to my hand."A card ejected from his main deck and he reveal it to me, which my Disk displays as Meteonis Drytron. Reading the effects, I am… honestly still as confused but at the same time impressed by the effect. In fact, I am now concerned because now he has the materials to bring out his Ritual Monster.

"And now, I activate Drytron Gamma Eltainn (Light/Level 1/Machine/Effect/2000/0)." A third machine dragon replaces the second. "Like the rest, it has the same summoning condition, however, I can Special Summon a "Drytron" monster with 2000 Attack from my Graveyard except Gamma. So I return Delta (Light/Level 1/Machine/Effect/2000/0)." He brought back the first machine dragon.

"Preparations are complete, I activate the Ritual Spell Meteonis Drytron." The background suddenly fades to black. The only ones present are our monsters and us. Then the blackness lit up as countless small lights flicker to existence, like stars in space. "I can Ritual Summon any Ritual Monsters in my hand or Graveyard, however I must tribute Machine monsters from my hand or field whose total Attack equal or exceed the Attack of the Ritual Monster I Ritual Summon."

Without a doubt, the students were very shocked at the revelation. There were comments like:

"Attack points?"

"Wasn't it level?"

Indeed, normally to Ritual Summon a monster, you must either have the exact or more than the amount of level of the Ritual Monster you want to summon. However, Kyou-senpai's Ritual monster is by far the only exception to this rule as his Ritual Monsters uses Attack Points instead of Level as a criteria to Ritual Summon.

"From the stars beyond the event horizon, heed my call and shine brightly so that all may find you when night falls. Ritual Summon! Level 12, Drytron Meteonis Quadrantis (Light/Level 12/Machine/Ritual/Effect/4000/4000)." As he chanted, a star in the background happened to zig-zag along the vast darkness until it slams itself before me. The monster has white plates with blue trims along its armour and claws. It also has blue energy like wings protruding from behind it. As the summoning was completed, the darkness fade to normal and I could once again see my students' expression. Understandably, their jaws were loose and their eyes unblinking as they marvel at Kyou-senpai's monsters.

"Battle!" my opponent declared, "Quadrantis, attack Gishki Levianima." The machine dragon raised its claw backwards as it readied its attack. I should be fine, considering our monster's attack points.

Quadrantis's attack is 4000 while my Levianima is 2700, I should lose only 1300 Life Points.

"If you think for a moment I am done," Kyou-senpai suddenly added, "then you are still as naïve as you started off. I activate the Quick Spell Limiter Removal!" A green card appear to the field, "This card doubles the Attack Points of all my Machine monsters until the end phase. But, they will be destroyed at the same time!"

I could only watch dejectedly as his monster's boost in power (4000 8000). The moment Quadrantis destroyed Levianima, this match is over immediately.

Ibi Richua – 0 (Lose)

Kyou Yuuki – 4000 (Win)

"Now then, class." I heard my senpai spoke, "What have you learned today?"

I could hear my students' word as a jumbled-up mess of words as I slowly took in everything I have learned from the duel. I guess this is an inevitability since I am dueling with a prodigy and the best teacher in LDS. Regardless, from that duel alone, I learned that I am still, as he states, naïve.

What I could have done in that duel, is have at least a back row to feint my opponent, a lesson that Kyou-senpai taught me, which I have not grasp completely. I also learned that my deck could control my opponent's starting hand if I played it right.

Kyou-senpai, thank you again.

Yuuki's Point of View

The rest of the class went by swimmingly if I am going to make a pun about it. Considering who my opponent was and the attribute she played. The students took our lessons well but most importantly understands the lesson.

This went on until the end of class today, which is 3:15 in the afternoon. We returned to the teacher's lounge and organized our things before calling it a day.

While I do not have any experience teaching in a Japanese school, I am sure that the teachers would still remain in the office until the evening, doing something. In this case, the teachers are allowed to leave at this time of the day. As I observe my colleagues leaving, I stayed behind to settle my affairs as usual.

Normally, had this been my old world, I would leave as told. However, in this world, I decided to practise my old world's practise of staying late and leaving late. I have my reasons, firstly I quite enjoy my work, verily. Next, even if I leave early, I have nothing else to do. Had this been my old world, I would be indulging in anime and games like your standard otaku. But so far, I have nothing to dedicate myself to other than teaching and dueling. Lastly, its nostalgia. Despite having the privilege of an isekai protagonist and the benefits that came with it, I just cannot help but be reminded of my old life. Like my parents, friends and even my home country. One time, I instinctively sang my country's national anthem just to pass the time.

As I sat in my desk, I started planning my lessons for next Monday. Having the entire office to myself, I could focus on the task at hand and thus I typed away.

I did not know how long I have been working, rather I may have continued on, had I not been interrupted by an all so familiar voice.

"Kyou-senpai," the voice spoke sounding surprised, "You are still here?"

I tore my attention from my work to meet a familiar person, "Ibi-sensei?" I blurted. It was then I notice the backdrop, it was dark. I then brought out my Duel Disk that also functions like my old world's phone. It displayed the current time: 7.13 p.m. "Huh, its already this late?" I muttered.

"You are still working at this time?" She parroted her previous question, sounding annoyed this time, "Seriously, you need to learn how to relax."

"I am relaxed, in fact, I love my job." This had been my answer for every time they told me to relax. Frankly, I just don't have anything else to do. I mean, sure I can go window-shopping but most of the stuff they offer are cards, food, cards, clothing, cards, tech, cards and more cards. Opening pack of cards is always a joy for a Yu-Gi-Oh fan, however, when you are someone like me, who has some privileges, I don't really need the new cards. Also, I have an above average income and combined with my work in LDS, I have saved up quite a fortune. Therefore, money is never an issue for me. In any case, "The better question, you haven't leave yet?" I repeated her question back to her, reverse card open.

"I did, I met up with my old colleague earlier today. When I was about to go home, I realized that I left my study materials here. Then I find you."

So that's what it is then. I suppose I should head home now and since I'm 90% done with my plans, I can just improvise the rest when the time comes. Besides, my adorable junior, who is also a woman mind you, is about to go home, alone, late in the evening.

"Aite then Ibi-sensei, give me 2 minutes and I'll join you." I spoke as I finalized my work.

"Huh?" She gasped, seeming surprised at the offer.

"What? This isn't the first time I walk you back, besides its late now. You know how dangerous the city is late at night." I replied with an as a matter-of-fact tone.

"Oh, sure…" she muttered and just left the office.

So moments later, I joined her at the entrance. We walked through the city and took in the view of Maiami City in the evening. Needless to say, the city is still very much alive even at night. The lights from each individual building illuminated the night. Not only that, shopkeepers are still selling their wares and there were also some duelists dueling with one another, if the sound of explosions or roars were anything to go by.

When I first came to this city, the sound of explosion would usually set off my alarm bells. Everyone would look at me like I belonged in a lunatic asylum with some parents yanking their children away from me with their usual remark of: "Mom, what's he doing?" "Don't look at him."

Not the best first impression but over time, I got so used to it to the point that explosions and roars simply became the norm for me.

"Senpai," my junior suddenly called out, "Um…"

Her face was slightly red. This is something that I, previously an anime otaku, recognize. My kouhai wanted to say something akin to asking me out, or confession… okay that is rather exciting but I'm not sure if I'm mentally prepared for this.

We've known and worked each other for a year now. She is by far the best-looking girl I've personally know, meet and interact with. This isn't really a problem, it's just the leap in relationship is… hang on. Usually at situations like this…

GROWL~

Of course… my stomach decides to interrupt me, like your average anime confession interruption cliché. I decided to be cool with it and change the topic, "Crap, there goes my stomach."

I then heard chuckling from my junior.

"In that case, let's have dinner somewhere?" She suggested with her hands behind her back.

"Huh? Don't you need to head home?"

"Well, I'm in no rush," she replied, "Let's have ramen together, the usual spot."

The usual spot, during her internship I would treat her to a bowl of ramen at my usual place, once in a fortnight. Nowadays, we rarely hang out since she has become more confident in her class. I suppose it has been a while since we have ramen together.

"Sure, my treat then," I told her and we set off.

This is my life now, an isekai protagonist, living my new to the fullest. I've been here for five years now. I have a respectable job, a stable life, but also a potential love interest… gah that sounded cringy when I thought about it.

Come to think of it… did… Ibi-sensei took her stuff?

The next day, Richua's POV
