Author's Note: Now I know that there have been ghosts in The Loud House show that the characters were easily able to interact with, but for plot necessity I decided to go with the rules of the show Ghosts. Remember, this is just a fanfiction story and I thought it might be fun.
Sam and Jay were at the front desk finishing up some paperwork while waiting for some scheduled guests to arrive. Pete, Isaac, Trevor and Alberta were nearby, wanting to get a glimpse of who the new guests would be. Luckily, none of them had to wait long. The door opened and what might have been mistaken for a small class field trip poured into the lobby.
"Wow! Those kids make more noise than my last troop did on the bus!" exclaimed Pete. They saw this gaggle of kids of various ages coming in with their suitcases. They were making some hustle and bustle while the two adults that the ghosts surmised were the parents tried to keep them together. That's right about when the rest of the ghost residents came down the stairs.
"My tribe could have easily found this group in the dark with the noise they're making," said Sasappis.
"I believe children should be seen and not heard," said Hetty.
"Aw, c'mon they just have high spirit," said Flower. Then the family came up to the desk where Sam and Jay gave the best calm smiles they could in the situation.
"Hi, my name is Lynn, this my wife Rita and our children, we're the Loud family," the man said.
"Oh yes, the contest winners, we are very happy to have you and your children here, hope you find your stay comfortable; we have your rooms ready," replied Sam eyeing the slightly rowdy group.
"Well, they certainly live up to their name," Isaac said to Alberta. In Rita's arms was a little toddler girl who seemed to be looking at the four ghosts behind the desk, she pointed in their direction and smiled.
"E got awwow!" she announced. Everyone looked at her confused then in the direction she was pointing.
"Lily sweetie, there's nobody there," Rita told the little one.
"Lily is a pretty name," said Jay.
"Thank you, let me introduce the rest of our brood, kids, line up!" said Lynn and the kids amazingly lined up in what appeared to be order of height.
"Well, that was impressive!" observed Hetty.
"This is Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn, Lincoln, Lucy, Lana, Lola and Lisa. Our eldest daughter Lori is away with friends from college and was sadly unable to join us," he told the two people he could see.
"Looks like those two can't keep their hands off each other!" smirked Trevor with a bit of a naughty grin. Pete slapped him up the back of his head.
"Trevor! Don't be gross, there are children present and besides, the love those two parents clearly have for themselves and their kids is beautiful!" he scolded the youngest ghost.
"Uh, okay, here's all your keys, dinner is at six, and please, take some brochures, you'll find there is a lot to do around here!" Sam said quickly as she made a point to hand out what she described. It was right about then that the black-haired girl with hidden eyes that had been introduced as 'Lucy' approached her.
"My friends and I read about this place when my family were told we'd be staying here, there are rumors that this place is haunted, anything to say about that?" she asked. Here the regular residents of the manor were shocked.
"Lucy, please don't scare Ms. Sam here," warned Rita.
"No, it's quite alright, yes there are rumors that this place is haunted, over the centuries, many surprising deaths have happened on these grounds, but I'm afraid I cannot confirm or deny them," replied Sam with a smile. The family ushered themselves upstairs, the ghosts who were on the stairwell made a point to get out of the way, simply because they didn't want to deal with anyone going through them. Lily was waving the whole time, her family not knowing that she saw people they couldn't.
"Well, this is going to be exciting!" declared Thorfinn.
"I think little Lily is able to see us!" said Flower.
"You think? She pointed directly at us and declared I have an arrow!" pointed out Pete.
"That one girl, Lucy, I think she may be on to us!" said Sasappis.
"I wouldn't worry if she attempts a séance, she's just a kid, they're all just kids so let them enjoy their time and don't worry about it," Sam told her spectral friends.
Isaac, Leni and Lynn
Isaac happened to be walking down an upstairs hall, excited to see his special friend, Nigel. He was so lost in thought that he didn't pay attention to his surroundings when two of the Loud kids rounded the corner in front of him. They were Leni and Lynn, the former unknowingly going through the old captain.
"Whew, Lynn you really need to control that!" Leni exclaimed at her younger sister waving a hand in front of her face.
"Control what?" she asked, confused.
"Oh, don't play innocent, I've seen the stuff you eat your toots could stun a yak! Besides, nobody else is around," said Leni angrily.
"I didn't break wind! I don't know what you're smelling but I assure you, it wasn't me!" said the sporty one angrily. Meanwhile, Isaac who knew what had actually happened was a little stunned from being walked through and was embarrassed.
Flower and Luna
Flower aimlessly went into one of the bedrooms that was being occupied after hearing a familiar sound. There she saw young Luna with a guitar that she was happily playing. Flower recognized the song Luna was singing immediately.
"C'mon people now,
Smile on your brother
Ev'rybody get together
Try and love one another
Right now,"
This made Flower happy, she and her cult used to play that song together, she had heard it at Woodstock, in her day it was very popular on the radio. She joined in the singing, and started dancing, but clumsy girl, she lost her footing and literally fell through Luna who stopped playing and looked to be in some sort of daze.
"Wow! All my senses seem opened like never before! Wait, I got an idea!" she said in a bit of a slurred voice and then grabbed some pen and paper and started writing something down. Flower just smiled guiltily on the floor.
Hetty and Lola
Hetty came into one of the rooms where she saw little Lola having a tea party with her stuffed animals.
"Now remember Mr. Sprinkles, we do not slouch," she told her teddy bear as she adjusted him. Hetty sat down nearby watching the scene. Lola was very clearly adamant about etiquette.
"Well, at least someone understands good manners and respect for the finer things. Might I have some tea as well?" But then she remembered Lola couldn't hear or see her.
Sasappis and Lana
Lana was walking around the streams of the surrounding wilderness. What she didn't know was that she was being supervised. Old Sasappis was amazed to see the seven-year-old observing the various animals, and being very careful with handling them, and occasionally popping in some nearby berries.
"Wow! She understands the wilderness, she might have done well in my tribe!" he observed with a smile. That's when Trevor showed up.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
"If I could talk with this little girl, I feel I could teach her some of the ways of my people and she would listen," the Lenape native replied. Suddenly, Lana slipped and fell into the water. Sasappis and Trevor gasped. She came up out of the water and started to climb back up the bank with difficulty. The two ghosts silently cheered the little girl on. Once she was safe away from the water she looked at her legs and cringed.
"Musta twisted my ankle in that fall! Ow!
"Sass! You're the faster runner! Go get Sam and get her over here! She can help Lana!" Trevor told his friend. Sasappis wasted no time. Trevor looked helplessly at the young girl.
"Please don't join us on the other side, not at a young age
Thorfinn and Lily
Rita was getting ready to tuck Lily in for a nap when her husband rushed in.
"Rita! Jay told me there was a close accident! Lana fell in some water and twister her ankle! Sam helped her back here and has her in the kitchen!" he exclaimed in his panicked father voice.
"I'm sorry Lily, but mommy has to go take care of your big sister!" exclaimed Rita before she rushed out of the room leaving Lily in her crib. What Rita didn't know was that she hadn't left Lily by herself.
"It's alright Lily, I'm sure your sister will be alright," said Thorfinn with concern in his eyes. Lily looked up at the Viking with worry. Thorfinn did the only thing he could do in the situation.
"Shh, it'll be alright, would you like Thorfinn to sing you to sleep?" he asked. Lily nodded and Thorfinn softly began to sing
"Sweet little baby, drift off to sleep
Dream of stabbing Danish men
Laughing while they weep
When you're a warrior
You'll be strong and tall
You'll pillage villages
Slit men's throats
And bash their heads against the wall"
Lily fell asleep to the Viking lullaby. This made Thorfinn smile.
Pete and Lincoln
Lincoln was reading some Ace Savvy comics near the common fireplace where Pete happened to come by. He looked upon the comics Lincoln was reading and his jaw dropped!
"No way! Ace Savvy is still in publication? That makes me so happy!" he said as he rushed behind Lincoln and looked at the page the young boy was on.
"Kid, I realize that you're not going to be able to hear me, but I want to tell you, I'm a fellow Ace fan! Going to the local comic shop each week to find the newest issue was something my friends and I always looked forward to each week. I sometimes wished I could be just like him, rather than my puny, passive self," he paused, with a moment's reflection.
"Just going to say this out loud since nobody is here to hear me say this, reading these comics without stripping down to my underwear isn't so bad. Maybe it's this comfortable chair or the fact that I'm in a public place, or perhaps because I'm now twelve, but this is nice, but what the heck, I'll take my shoes off," Lincoln did just that before flipping the comic page. Now Pete was surprised.
"Well, we all have our own little quirks but I'm going to admit that is kind of unusual," the old Scoutmaster said with an unnerved look.
Alberta and Lucy
Lucy was in the dining room wearing a purple turban and had a crystal ball in front of her. Unbeknownst to her, Alberta was sitting right next to her.
"Spirits from beyond the grave, if you can hear me, please call out," Lucy chanted. Alberta started to sing and amazingly, Lucy's crystal ball started to shine green.
"Tell us spirits, what is it that causes you to haunt this place? What unfinished business do you have that prevents you from moving on?" Lucy continued chanting, she seemed to actually smile.
"Girl, wouldn't you like to know?" asked Alberta a bit sarcastically. Then the crystal ball seemed to grow dim, Lucy then picked up what appeared to be a black box next to it.
"Okay, let's see if we picked anything up," she said. Alberta's jaw dropped. Was she actually being recorded? Lucy hit the play button and a few words that Alberta recognized as she just said them in her own voice seemed to come through.
"So, there are ghosts here, perhaps we can try a little further communication," said Lucy with a smile.
"Yeah, let's do that!" Alberta agreed.
Dinner
The Loud family was gathered for the provided dinner.
"I am not sitting next to Ms. Stynnker!" Leni declared angrily as she made a point to sit as far away from Lynn as possible.
"It wasn't me! Get over it already!" moaned Lynn.
"None of that at the table hope we all had a good first day here, minus Lana's little accident, Sam, thank you again for helping her and applying first aid, it's just lucky you happened to be nearby," said Rita.
"Oh yeah, I was just getting ready to get some tools for the shed and happened to hear a loud splash," said Sam, she seemed to be struggling to get the right words out. Then they all sat down to Jay's cooking.
"Jay! This stuff is really good, if possible, I'd like to exchange recipes with you!" Lynn Sr. exclaimed in between bites of the goulash.
"I'd be open to that," agreed Jay. On a different end of the table Luna made a point to put some paper she had away.
"You write a new song here?" asked Luan.
"Yeah, crazy thing dude, one moment I'm singing songs from the groovy sixties, next I completely black out and when I come to, I have this new song I wrote, I don't even remember actually writing it," said Luna.
"That is strange. What's also strange is when I had to leave Lily in her crib to make sure Lana is okay. When I was able to get back to her, she was fast asleep, normally that's a struggle," said Rita.
"I've got you all beat, I was conducting a séance earlier, and I think I may have been able to get some sort of reply," said Lucy. The ghosts who were enjoying the scent of the food started looking at each other with smiles.
