Summary: Kagome, Gojo Satoru's precious baby sister, is no stranger to curses or the objects they're attached to. After all, she was born with the Shikon no Tama inside her. Being Gojo's sister, many expect that she has great potential. It's not too far of an assumption. She's powerful, a force to be reckoned with. If only she could harness control of the cursed jewel tied to her soul.

Pairing: Undecided.

Disclaimer: I do not own either series. Each belongs to their rightful owners.

Prologue

Splintering wood creaked under her hand as her grip tightened, almost as if it was giving a cry of protest. For a moment, she almost let her grip lighten up. She thought for a second before deciding against it, blunt nails digging deep into the aged wood of the well she stood before.

She was quiet as she remained where she was, her position never faltering. Light blue eyes that mirrored the sky on a clear day gazed down into the inky, black abyss. Shadows of the well house surrounded her. The pink jewel tied around her neck served as the main light source, it seemed. A pink glow was cast over her face, but even that seemed to get swallowed by the abyss within the well.

The harsh aura burned at her senses. Even in its dormant state, the aura of the well was so potent. To others, it was overwhelming. Not to her, however.

Her eyes fell closed as she finally let her grip on the well's ledge fall. In the silence, a figure had come to join her. There had been no auditory cues given, yet she knew he was there all the same. She didn't bother to turn, let alone even open her eyes, as she called out to him.

"Nii-chan…"

"Hm?" He responded to her swiftly. She could hear the intrigue in his voice as he simply observed her stance before the well. He didn't blame her for her wish to offer it a farewell of sorts.

A pair of whiskers brushed against her ankle, and she opened her eyes as she shifted her attention down to the small feline at her side. Crimson eyes peered up at her, and a small smile soon lifted on her face. She bent to scoop the demon cat up, holding her to her chest as she finally allowed her back to turn to the well. When she did, her mind flashed back to the very first moment she ever got pulled down into its depths.

Far from what she'd call a pleasant memory of that time, she quickly pushed it away. Along with it, she took several steps away from the well. She climbed up the steps until she stood on the same level as her brother, pausing in front of him as she looked down at Kirara in her arms.

"... How'd you know I'd be here?" she finally asked. He hummed, tilting his head to the side as he sought her gaze through the shadows in the cramped building. It was easy enough. They, much like his own, shined brilliantly even in the darkness they were covered in.

It'd been a long time since he'd seen her. She'd grown so much in the past year alone. Maybe not on the outside, but on the inside… it was like he was staring at a completely different person. He hadn't been there for her when she needed him most, he knew, but she didn't seem to resent him as much as he'd thought she would.

It was a relief to him to know that much.

She was wary, and understandably so. He reached out, resting a hand on her head and ruffling her inky waves up a bit. The cat in her arms watched him with curious crimson eyes. He let his hand fall still on her head before he trailed it down the side of her face to tuck a lock of hair back behind her ear before it could fall over her face.

"How could I not?" he responded with a faint laugh lining his words. Kagome's gaze darkened a bit. The worry in her eyes was truly hard to miss. He shook his head. In the prior months, she hadn't been able to confide in anyone she knew in her normal day-to-day life. They wouldn't understand, let alone even bother to believe and listen to her. Being faced with her silence wasn't so surprising. He watched her for a moment more before he sighed. "You've been up to some pretty crazy things."

The presence of tears shining in her eyes did not go unnoticed by him, and a small smile flashed across his face.

He wished he could say he was surprised, but the truth was, that was far from the case. Their eyes had been on her for a long time now, and for good reasons, too.

She had endured many things.

That was the proper word to use.

Endured.

She had endured, survived, and come out stronger than she believed herself to be before. It was radiant within her aura- the strength that thrummed through her blood and soul.

"How about we get out of this tiny shack?" he questioned, cutting his eyes back to the well a short distance away. Even sealed, the forbearing aura was smothering. It was hesitant, but she eventually nodded. He pushed his dark glasses back down to cover his eyes as he stepped out into the mid-afternoon sun.

Kagome followed after him, flinching when the bright rays replaced the darkened room she'd just been in. She had a hard time adjusting to the bright lights- something the taller man at her side was swift to take note of. Satoru paused not far ahead of her, patting at his pockets until he found what he was searching for.

He removed the backup pair of glasses he had, turning in her direction as a faint whistle from him snagged her attention. When she looked up at him, he reached out and carefully put the sunglasses on to block the sun from view. She was motionless as she looked up at him, and he grinned at her.

"There ya' go, Mochi-chan," he stated. A smile eventually bloomed across her face. "Any better?" he asked. He already suspected what her answer would be, but it was still a question he bothered to ask.

"Yeah, actually," she responded with a small nod. "Thank you."

"I figured as much," he said with a small smile. The cat in her arms stretched and hopped up onto her shoulder. As she did, the pink jewel around her neck came into full view. Unable to help it, his gaze strayed to it. Kagome was swift to notice his attention, and her expression fell.

"There's no way to get rid of it, is there?" she asked softly. It was a question that'd been lurking on her mind. She wasn't sure when the best time to ask would be, but since he'd focused on it, she figured it was now. After all, he was experienced with stuff like this, given who he was and what he did.

Satoru looked at her face following her question. He reached for the jewel, and she didn't pull away as he gently took it in in fingers. He gave a tug, and the string came undone. He held it up as he examined it. After a moment, he shook his head. "It doesn't seem like there is," he responded.

Kagome nodded, a sigh coming from her when she got the answer she expected. "I'm not surprised," she stated. He returned it to her possession, and she fixed it back around her neck. This was just her problem now. Truthfully… "I don't know how I should feel about this," she admitted out loud. She lifted her gaze back to his own, a frown peppering her face. "What am I supposed to do with this thing? It's dangerous- It's a cursed object. Can I really just…-?" Could she really just exist with this thing attached to her like it was? She looked down at her feet. "Will this thing…-"

Would it end up killing her?

Satoru looked at her as she fell silent. "It's a strange thing," he said. "There's no telling what the outcome of having it in your possession will be, Mochi-chan. It's bound to you."

Kagome nodded. Her hand went to the scar on her hip, the remaining proof of where the jewel was ripped from her body. It was more than attached. It'd been within her body her entire life until that fateful moment five hundred years in the past.

"Since it was inside you for so long, you seem to have built up some sort of tolerance against it, something others don't have," he continued. He brought his hand up to his chin as he thought it over. "Even so, still with that tolerance, it's siphoning your own energy." Not just that, but her soul as well. With her tolerance, it wasn't as fast, at least. "As you are now, it's far from a good thing," he stated. Kagome nodded in agreement. "The only solution you have is to become stronger."

The confusion that flashed across her face wasn't lost on him. "Stronger how?"

"You need to find a way to harness control over it," he said. "Its goal is to make you a part of it. Do the opposite. Make it a part of you so it won't have that control."

"Make it a part of me?" she repeated. Satoru nodded. "Do you… think I can actually do that?"

"I do. After all, that's how it was before," he stated. "It won't be easy since it has its physical form back, but it's not impossible."

Silence fell over them as she processed his words. Getting stuck with the cursed jewel was the last thing she wanted, but she knew there was no way to destroy it. Not at this point in time, at least.

Could she really do it?

Her hand went up to curl around the pink bauble, gaze downcasting to the concrete they stood on. After all the things that it'd caused…

"In the past, the jewel was neither good nor evil," she stated softly. Satoru looked at her. "It fed off the intentions of its wielders," she clarified. It was something that made it stronger as the years continued. He gave her a curious look in return. Maybe… "If I were to purify the dark from it do you… do you think it would still exist?" she asked.

"No telling," he responded. "There's only one way to figure something like that out," he added with a grin. He reached out to her in the face of her concerned expression, patting the shoulder that didn't have the cat on it. "Isn't that right, Mochi-chan?"

She kept her gaze fixed on the ground, but she gave a faint nod of her head.

His words were true. There was only one way she could find out, but until then she was stuck with the cursed jewel.

"Now," he said, causing her to finally look back up. "Let's get out of here, huh?" he suggested. "You ready to go, Mochi-chan?"

Kagome gripped the jewel a bit tighter as she nodded. He grinned at her, patting her shoulder once more before moving away from her. As he turned to leave, Kagome stayed where she was for a few more seconds. She glanced back at the well house behind her, expression faltering slightly before she turned away.

Dwelling on the past would do nothing for her, she knew. If she wanted to survive, then she needed to turn her vision to the future ahead of her.

"... Right," she whispered softly. She bounded off after him, slowing down only once she caught up to his stride. Kirara nudged against her face, almost as if she was comforting her.

There was nothing left for her anymore.

"Are they really keeping a cursed object in a place like this?" Kagome asked as she glanced around, coming to a brief halt. The boy ahead of her paused as well, glancing back at her. "This is a school…" she stated. He shrugged in response.

"Can't help some people are dumb," Megumi responded. She could only nod in agreement. Judging by the aura, they had gotten close to it. A small structure in the distance caught her eye. It was most prominent over there. Megumi caught what she was looking at, seeming to be in agreement with her.

"They're just lucky there haven't been any serious disasters from it," Kagome responded. "Ordinary people don't have the discernment to see stuff like this, after all…"

Megumi nodded. "Let's just get this over with so we can get out of here already."

Kagome fell into step with him, letting him lead the way. They made it to the structure. It was a small box used to protect meteorological instruments from rain and heat- otherwise known as a Stevenson Screen.

She paused behind him as he opened the box, blinking owlishly when his posture stiffened. Before she could ask what was wrong, he began to search madly around the structure. She took the chance to peer inside, noting it to be entirely empty. Additionally, the cursed object was no where to be seen even around it.

Megumi returned to the front of it, closing the small door before opening it once again, giving one last attempt for it to somehow appear within the confines. It had no luck, and they were left standing in front of the empty location.

"This isn't good," Kagome sighed, setting a hand on her hip. She glanced up at Megumi, noting the way his expression had shifted. He pulled out his phone from his pocket. She didn't even bother to ask who he was calling. She looked at him in silence, his spiky hair styled uniquely and his green eyes dark in the moonlight.

"There's nothing here," he said when the person on the other line picked up. From where she stood, she could faintly hear him through the call.

"Huh?"

"The Stevenson Screen," Megumi stated. "It's empty."

"Oh, for real?" he laughed. "That's hilarious! Maybe it went for a nighttime stroll," he joked from the other end.

"I'll punch you," Megumi threatened.

"Well, no coming home until it's been recovered, okay?" was all he got in response. Before anything else could be said, the call was hung up from the other end.

Megumi shoved his phone back into his pocket. Green met bright blue as he looked down at Kagome. "Okay, that's it,' he said as he turned to the girl at his side. Behind the dark glasses she wore, he could see the radiant clear blue irises. "I know he's your brother, but I'm seriously gonna punch him next time."

"No, no, no, don't worry." She responded with a grin, a look contrary to his own expression. She shifted her gaze up to meet his own, and she nodded in agreement. "If we work together, it'll work. You can go high, I'll go low."

He looked at her for a moment more before he turned away. "Let's go," he said. Kagome nodded and fell into pace with him once more. "We gotta find this thing."

"Right!"

Auroua-chan: This idea has been in the works for a little while now. I'm happy it's ready to post.

There's no pairing as of yet. Suggestions and ideas are welcome!
This takes place following the end of Kagome's trips through the well. The jewel is stuck in her possession. Additionally, she has quite a few similarities to Gojo.

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you for reading and I hope you all enjoyed. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!

Bye for now~
