Mahou Shoujo Ruby Rose (Magical Girl Ruby Rose)

Ruby Rose had always wanted to be a hero.

So when she was given the chance to, she pounced on the opportunity like a tiger spotting its helpless prey.

Only the "prey" in this case was a strange, magical, cat-like creature.

"Would you like to be a magical girl?" It had asked Ruby.

"Would I ever!" Ruby replied back, with no hesitation at all.

"So..."I'll take that as a yes?"

"Yeah!"

"Sorry, just had, galactical regulations and bureaucratic rules involving consent in magical deals and all that."

Ruby didn't really understand what it was taking about, but nodded along anyway.

One moment, she was Ruby Rose, and the next, she was The Rosen Girl of Rubies! The outfit itself was pretty cool, with all the frilliness and white and red and pink highlights and all. It was cool, certainly, and it was fashionable, certainly, but...

"Can't you do something about the transformation sequence?!" Ruby complain, blushing, "I always feel like I'm changing nakedly in front of total strangers! And it's super embarrassing!"

"You aren't actually getting naked, you know. It's part of the transformation sequence, and while it does involve skintight - "

Ruby coughed, "I know."

"While it does involve a skintight semi-transparent piece of clothing to cover your body during the transformation sequence," The creature continued, unperturbed by Ruby's interruption, "You aren't actually naked during the transformation sequence." It assured Ruby.

Ruby growled. "I said I know!"

"But!" Ruby asserted, "It's not about whether or not I'm actually naked while transforming or not! The important thing is that I feel; that way! Can't you do something about that, oh great-and-wonderful provider of magical powers?" She finished off that last bit with a bit of sarcasm in her voice.

"I don't really see why it's such a big problem for you," It replied, "But if you insist..."

The next time she transformed, her transformation sequence made her look like a pudgy elephant in magical girl form.

"This isn't really what I meant..." She said.

The creature just shrugged, with its non-existent shoulders.

"Harken, ye foul villain!"

Roman Torchwick looked up, at what was frankly the most ridiculous outfit he'd ever seen any girl dress in. He had to hold back a snort from leaking out of his nose.

"Your days of evildoer-ing are no more!" She declared, dramatically, with a nice bit of flamboyant flair that Roman actually quite appreciated. "For now the Rosen Girl of Rubies is on the case, and your crimes shall be no more, forevermore!"

Well, the girl could still use a bit of work on her speech-giving, though. And her sense of fashion. But mostly, her sense of fashion.

"For here stands the magical girl of Love and Justice, protector of weak and downtrodden, distributor of roses around the world! The Girl of Roses is on the case!"

Scratch that, Roman thought, a lot of work.

"Well, Red - "

"Ruby." She corrected.

"Right...Ruby," Roman correct, "Well, it's been fun, but I gotta get going now."

"What. aren't you going to stay and fight, like a real villain?" She asked.

Roman scoffed. "What, do I look like that kind of idiot to you?" He asked.

She gave him a quick glance over. "Honestly, yeah. You kinda do." She paused, "No offense, or anything, I mean."

Roman let out an offended squawk of indignation, "Offense very much so taken, young lady!"

Having finally gotten into beacon academy, the huntsman academy of her dreams, Ruby set off to do the first most important thing that came to mind - turning her whole team into a squad of magical girls! Well, there was also the matter of finding and thanking the mysterious "dork knight" magical boy (mahou shonen) who had saved her during initiation, but that could wait until later (apparently, he hadn't chosen that name - the contractor had).

Maybe Jaune might have an idea of how to find him! They seemed to be pretty close friends, after all!

(Elsewhere, Jaune sneezed twice in a row. Pyrrha looked concerned, "Jaune, are you feeling alright?"

Jaune answered, "Ah yeah, I'm fine. I just felt like someone might've been talking about me. But, I'm okay. Let's continue the training.")

But enough about that, it would be so cool! After all, magical girl shows were always a friendship squad of magical girls who worked together to defeat evil, overcome their enemies, and spread joy and happiness and love and dream all throughout the world, with the power of their bonds, right?

Weiss actually took to the concept surprisingly well. Ruby had expected more objection on her part, but no,, instead she was surprisingly onboard with the idea, and her transformation-sequence was a very elegant and well-rehearsed. Ruby couldn't help but wonder if Weiss was maybe secretly a fan of magical girl shows herself! (Which would've been a surprisingly cute side of Weiss). But if she really was, then that was another point of connection that Ruby now had with her new magical girl bestie! Well, they were already besties before, but now that they were both magical girls, it was on a whole new level of bestie-ness. If that made any sense.

Unsurprisingly, Yang had some objections to the idea, seeing herself as too old to get involved in that kind of "nonsense", but with a little bit of convincing (and maybe with more than just a little bit of magical little sister tears), she had gotten Yang onboard with the idea, as well. And she was sporting a really cool outfit, too! All fierce and amazon-ness like! ("It shows a little bit too much skin, though" Yang complained.)

Surpassingly, though, Blake was the one most against the idea. Ruby got her to come around eventually, though, and she sported a really slick and stylish ninja-style outfit! ("Kunoichi-style," Blake corrected, "A female ninja is called a kunoichi.")

Together, they were the magical girl RWBY Squad! Or so Ruby insisted, but they had no actual cohesion in their naming sense ("The Rosen Girl of Red", "The Beautiful Queen of Ice", "The Yellow Dragon-Buster" "The Ninja of The Night"), outfits, or fighting style using their magical powers. Still, that just meant that that was something that could be improved upon, right?! Well, Ruby thought so, at least.

But now was only the beginning of their magical girl adventures! And they had a whole world to save up ahead! Yeahhhhhhhh!

Author's Notes:

Semi-from Ruby's point of view, which is why it's so childishly energetic and mildly ADHDish, especially towards the end - and that really is how Ruby was like, at least, towards the beginning of the show. Probably just a oneshot, at least for now.

Also, you can image all the other girls teasing Weiss over her chosen name. Who even is narcasitic enough to call themselves "beautiful"?

Also, Jaune fumbling over himself trying to cover for his alter-ego after helping out Ruby in initiation, and Ruby being naive enough to believe it.

Plus, the finale of the story - Magical Girl Squad RWBY VS the Dark Witch Salem - they struggle at first, but ultimately overcome her with the power of love and friendship, ultimately entrusting all their power to Ruby, which gives her an ultimate transformation, which allows her to defeat (purify) Salem for good. Before Salem's human form fades away into dust, she thanks them for returning her back to normal, and all that...

Also, the plot twist is that the magical creature is not actually evil, but is instead a creature made by Ozpin, entrusted with his hopes and dream and magic (but mostly just his hopes and dreams). That reveal would only be after they defeat Salem. Also, the original for seasonal girls would also be magical girls in this setting/continuity, I guess.
