Chapter 7: The Machine Emperor

Reiji's Point of View

I have stood by the corner of this room throughout the entire match. From here, I have heard and predicted each outcome. However, the last duel was the only outcome that went against everything I have predicted.

Hiiragi Yuzu, age 14, daughter of Hiiragi Shuuzou, no mother, a duelist of You Show Duel School, Junior Youth department. Her deck consists of fairy monsters… however of all the fairy monsters in our database, none of which includes one that is called Herald of Perfection. Not only that, she even used a card that locks down a card type summoning and effect. Moreover, the previous conversation she had with Kyou Yuuki confirmed that he gave her those cards. This made me more interested to recruit this man into my army.

"Chairwoman Akaba, as promised, we've won this match. Therefore, please leave this place." I heard Hiiragi Shuuzou announced from the Solid Vision control room.

My mother tsked as her plan had failed. However, I am still curious of his strength so I've decided to make my presence known.

"Wait!" I called out as I come out of the corner. Pulling my hoodie down I faced the people before me. Of all the people in my view, the only one I am focusing on is none other than Kyou Yuuki.

"Who are you?" Sakaki Yuuya asked.

"Hey there, boy!" I heard that casual and obnoxious callsign, "It's been a while since we chat, learned anything new?" He casually greeted me.

If I were to respond, I would answer him with a yes. Thanks to him, I've learned a lot more about Pendulum Summoning… at the same time less about him.

"Kyou-sensei, do you know this guy?" I heard one of the kids asked.

"Of course, he's the CEO of Leo Corporation and my boss when I used to work in LDS." He revealed and I could see the shocked and surprised faces of the You Show group, with the exception of Kyou Yuuki. "Now then, what brings the MOST important person of Maiami City to this dingy old school? No, don't tell me." He quickly raised his hand to stop me from saying. "You came, all the way here, to challenge me."

"Eh?" The LDS group gasped.

"But sure, I accept your challenge, now come." He turned and lead the way. The rest of the people parted ways as he approached the door to the duel field. I followed him quietly from behind.

Now is the perfect opportunity to learn what he is capable of.

Sora's Point of View

The appearance of this new character was surprising to say the very least.

This new character has been standing in the dark corner of the room the entire time and I couldn't even detect him. Not only that, when he called out, I instinctively readied my duel disk. Fortunately for me, I was able to suppress my instincts as I remembered where I am.

With the instinct to engage lowered, I then analyzed the person once more. He is thin, with pale skin and grey hair, having lighter grey for the front layer of his hair than the back. His eyes were purple and was wearing a red framed rectangle glasses. He had on a dark-blue sweater, white pants and shoes. But that's not all about him. He gave off the feeling of a very strong duelist… this made me want to duel him.

What's even more, Kyou Yuuki was able to recognize him, calling him Akaba Reiji… wait… Akaba… Akaba… wasn't the professor's name Akaba as well? I see… so this guy is related the professor then.

As the conversation went on, I had prepared my Duel Disk and prematurely started recording. This is a duel that involves my mission after all and I need to collect his dueling capabilities. I could have done this during his duel with Yuuya… but I was having too much fun at the time. Now however, I had a good view and with no distractions, I can focus on him.

Then, from the corner of my eyes, I could see and hear the LDS clearly, especially the shocking revelation about Kyou Yuuki's duel records…

Masumi's Point of View

I can't believe it, Akaba Reiji! In person! I've seen some of his duels on television a few times and have known this person very well. He was a champion for several tournaments. Not only that, he was also a global champion and has an amazing win rate of 95%. In other words, this person is a pro level duelist.

However, what is more surprising than seeing Akaba Reiji in person is that hearing the very same pro duelist challenging someone unheard of. I looked to my side and could see Nekoro's eyes completely focused on the stand off between the pro duelist and the You Show teacher. I then turned to the chairwoman who had her arms crossed. She is tapping her finger and her eyes told me how she is… nervous?

I… cannot blame her. If I had not seen the You Show teacher's eyes, I would immediately declare Akaba Reiji being the victor. However, I have seen his eyes and… predicted that Akaba Reiji would lose instead.

They had a somewhat obnoxious and familiar exchange. Akaba Reiji simply acknowledged the obnoxious remarks and followed him into the duel field.

"That… was intense." I heard Yaiba's cracked voice as soon as the door closes.

"You tell me, I never thought I would see Akaba Reiji in person!" Hokuto responded and I simply nodded.

"Still, we get to watch him duel! This is going to be great!" Yaiba exclaimed.

"Yeah, he's going to win this!"

"I doubt it…" I heard Nekoro responded and I am inclined to agree with her, "Their teacher… is much stronger… than Akaba Reiji."

"I didn't think you know how to joke Nekoro-chan!" Hokuto snickered but he stopped when Nekoro turned to face us. Her serious face was on full display.

"I am afraid to inform all of you, that Aoi Nekoro is right." I then turned to the chairwoman, "Akaba Reiji is now challenging the strongest duelist we have yet to know."

"But chairwoman, we all know that Kyou Yuuki is the Machine Emperor, I mean… even if he is, isn't Akaba Reiji a pro level duelist and have won multiple global championships back-to-back? Isn't he the stronger one?" Hokuto asked and clarified my information. I then noticed how this information got the attention from the You Show group as their attention are now on us.

"Nakajima…" was all the chairwoman's response and the butler approached.

"Yes maam, as you all know, Kyou Yuuki is the Machine Emperor, however the title only circulated after his retirement. The origin of this was traced back when he was sent to inspect a school called Ryouzanpaku Duel School."

I recognized that name because my papa had told me about the terrible things that the Duel School had done, like beating up the opponents during a duel. Not only that, it was also the No. 2 duel school in Maiami City at the time. Then, one day, the school just closed without warning. Until this day, no one had known why it suddenly closed. This was a big phenomenon at the time because despite its infamous reputation, it was still the no. 2 duel school in Maiami City…

"That school suddenly closed a few years ago. How was it related to him?" The chairwoman asked.

"I've managed to find a former student of that school… who has enrolled in LDS."

That was quite a coincidence.

"He confessed that Kyou Yuuki was the one whom had visited the school… and was the one responsible for the closure of the school. Kyou Yuuki had single handedly challenged the entire duel school… and won. Not only that, he mentioned how in the battle royale duel, Kyou Yuuki had never declared an attack with his monster and no matter how many times it was attacked, they are the ones who take damage instead."

How… is that possible? The more I hear about it, the more ludicrous it sounded.

"So, this student starts calling him the Machine Emperor and it started circulating." The chairwoman concluded.

Nakajima nodded, "Yes, he admitted to that but it was by complete accident. During Kyou Yuuki's retirement, he had said Machine Emperor once and it seemed to have circulated around… his hidden fan club."

The chairwoman suddenly coughed, which surprised everyone, even the butler.

"Wait, I have a fan club?" I could hear said teacher's voice echoing from the duel field. "When was that a thing?"

I have no idea with this guy anymore…

"Wait a second, he never declared an attack?" I heard Yaiba spoke out.

"Not at all. In all of his duels, at least the ones where he uses his own deck, he always creates a restriction on himself. That's not all, in the duels where he uses his own decks and with his own set of self-imposed restrictions, he always comes out victorious… without ever losing a single life point. His win rates are at a perfect 100% and that includes the duels where he tests out the decks he built for every program."

So what he was saying is that Kyou Yuuki has never lost.

When he uses his own deck, or decks, he won't lose his Life Points. At the same time, he would place restrictions on himself.

But if he uses certain decks, his Life Points MAY drop.

He even mentioned how he built our decks... my deck… he built my deck… could I do the same thing as he did?

The entire room was silent at the revelation, except one.

"Wait, but I lower his life points…" this time, all attention turned to Sakaki Yuuya.

Sora's Point of View

Come on sensei, don't lie to me, there's no way you couldn't lose Life Points.

I could recall Yuuya's response to Kyou Yuuki's self-proclamation at the time. So he was telling the truth all along? That he had never lost a single life points before? No wait, he did lose life points if he is using any other decks. But if he is using his own personal deck, then he could win all while having restrictions he place on himself. And speaking of restrictions, I heard an outrageous one from the duel field.

Reiji's Point of View

"Wait, I have a fan club? When was that a thing?"

I watched how he paced around and was in deep thought when we heard how he had a fan club. I am aware of it but couldn't care much other than the information they had on him. I was surprised and disturbed when I found my mother's name on the list…

Moving on, I analyzed my opponent once more and it only reconfirmed my theories about him. In fact, it was only a matter of time before we begin and he propose a restriction on himself. I stood and waited patiently for him to be prepared. He just stood there with his hand on his Duel Disk that was attached to his left wrist. He was motionless for a good duration before the revelation of his fan club. He sighed before turning his attention to me.

As we settle ourselves to the duel field, Kyou Yuuki then declared.

"Before we begin, let's make this more interesting. I will limit myself throughout this entire duel. Therefore, I will propose a restriction that will severely hinder myself. How about it?"

Here it comes. I wonder what sort of restrictions he will impose himself.

"Very well, what do you propose?" I asked.

"Let's see… I will start with, only 1 card." He declared.

That is… a strong restriction! Dueling is all about hand advantage. To severely limit himself with only one card as his starting hand is the same as being defeated. Is he… that strong?

I turned to the audience and could see their shocked expressions. Even my mother was no exception to this. This also includes that Fusion spy.

I turned back to Kyou Yuuki and pushed my glasses as my intrigue has peaked.

"Very well then, I accept your conditions. Now, let's begin!" I readied my Duel Disk and so did he.

"Hiiragi-sensei, project that field for me." Kyou Yuuki requested and I heard the system announces "Empty Meadow".

Empty Meadow… this field is by far the least popular Action Field. The reason for it is simple, this was the first Action Field that was created, as such, Action Cards were not a thing. In other words, Kyou Yuuki chose a field that doesn't have Action Cards. I heard the audience announced the Action Duel chant before we begin.

"DUEL"

Yuuki – 4000 1

Reiji – 4000 5

"I will begin," he declared, "Let's start with One Day of Peace. With this card, both of us will draw a card. However, until the end of my opponent's next turn, neither of us takes damage." He explained.

It was a solid card for a stall. However, two turns later, my monsters will overwhelm him.

"Next, I will activate the continuous spell Future Fusion." He declared and it caught my attention immediately. "During the turn it was activated… nothing happens."

I cannot help but be confused. A continuous spell card that does nothing the turn it was activated. Not only that, it was a card with fusion in it so there must be some gimmick involving Fusion Summoning.

"With that, I end my turn." He declared.

Yuuki – 4000 0

Reiji – 4000 7

"My turn, draw" I pulled my top deck and examine my hands. Perfect. Thanks to him, I know more about Pendulum Summoning. In fact, it was also thanks to his guidance that allowed me to have both of my Pendulum Cards readied for this duel. However, let's start off easy without any Pendulum Monsters first.

"I activate the continuous spell Dark Contract with the Gate. With it, I can add 1 D/D monster from my deck to my hand. However, each of my Standby Phase I will take 1000 damage." I began.

"Taking full advantage of one day of peace. Smart move." I heard my mother's reaction.

I also heard a few frustrated reactions from the You Show group.

"With this effect, I add D/D Lilith to my hand. That's not all, I activate another Dark Contract with the Gate, which allows me to add D/D Berformet. Next, I activate the continuous spell Dark Contract with the Swamp King. During each of my Standby Phase I will take 1000 damage, however with this card I can now Fusion Summon monsters each turn." I explained.

"Huh?"

"No way, he could Fusion Summon without Polymerization?"

"I fuse D/D Lilith and D/D Berfomet in my hand. The sleepless goat that never rest. The enchantress who wanders the dark night! Within the swirling light of the realm of the dead, become one and give birth to the new king! Fusion Summon! Be born, D/D/D Flame King Genghis (Level 6/FIRE/Fiend/Fusion/Effect/2000/1500)!"

"Next, I summon tuner monster D/D Nighthowl (Level 3/DARK/Fiend/Tuner/Effect/300/600)" A fiend with sharp fangs appeared to my field.

"Tuner monster! He can't be!"

"When this card is Normal Summoned, I can Special Summon a D/D monster in my graveyard however, I cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn other than Fiend-type monsters. But, it's attack and defense will become 0. I chose D/D Lilith (Level 4/DARK/Fiend/Effect/100 0/2100 0)."

"I tune Level 3 D/D Nighthowl with Level 4 D/D Lilith! The roar that cuts through the darkness, gain the speed of a gale and give rise to a new king! Synchro Summon (Level 3 + Level 4 = 7)! Be born, Level 7 D/D/D Gust King Alexander (Level 7/WIND/Fiend/Synchro/Effect/2500/2000)!"

"I'm not done. I activate D/D/D Flame King Genghis's effect! When another D/D monster is Special Summoned, I can Special Summon a D/D monster from the graveyard!" Said monster raised its sword, "Resurrect again D/D Lilith (Level 4/DARK/Fiend/Effect/100/2100)" Said monster returned for the second time. "Next, D/D/D Gust King Alexander's effect activate! If another D/D monster is summoned, I can Special Summon a D/D monster from my graveyard! Come, D/D Berfomet (Level 4/DARK/Fiend/Effect/1400/1800)!" a winged fiend with a goat head appeared.

"I overlay Level 4 D/D Lilith and D/D Berformet! With these two monsters, I build the Overlay Network! In order to rule all of existence, descend at the world's spire! Xyz Summon! Be born, Rank 4 Wave King Caesar (Rank 4/WATER/Fiend/Xyz 2/Effect/2400/1200)!"

As the last monster of my main combo appeared, I fully prepare myself. Not for an attack. The moment he played One Day of Peace… I suddenly recalled one crucial piece of information that I have read about him. During his next turn, he will be able to destroy my monsters somehow… however with Caesar's effect, I can prevent that from happening. Now the question is how does he do it?

"I set a card and end my turn!"

Yuuki – 4000 1

Reiji – 4000 2

"Alright, my turn. Draw."

He looks at his card and then at my field, "D/D/D… Different Dimension Demon is a complicated deck that focuses on using its lesser counterparts, D/D to bring out D/D/D monsters. It's a midrange swarming combo deck that relies on a variety of difficult combos to complete its full capabilities." He summarized accurately. "However… D/D/D has a major weakness in that they lack protections, they are combo heavy and Special Summons a lot. A good Maxx C ought to make you hesitate. If not, a Summon Limit would also do."

Once more, he dissected my deck's weakness as if it was public knowledge. However, I do not understand, nor know what he meant by Maxx C or Summon Limit. Are those cards? If so… what do they do?

"Since you've shown me your combo, let me show you mine." After he declared that the continuous spell he activated on his previous turn shined. "At this moment, Future Fusion's effect activates. First, I reveal a Fusion Monster and then send all the materials listed on it from my Main Deck to the Graveyard."

"What did he say?"

"Fusion Summoning from the deck?"

"Is that possible?"

This is shocking! Here I thought that you can Fusion Summon with card effects other than Polymerization. I am also fully aware of how you can fusion summon from your hand and graveyard but to think it is also possible to Fusion Summon from the deck!

"The monster I want to Fusion Summon is Chimeratech Overdragon. It's summoning condition is a Cyber Dragon and 1 or more Machine Monsters." As he declared that, I watched with widened eyes as he took out most of his deck and puts them into his graveyard. "I send all 40 Machine monsters from my deck to the graveyard in order to fusion summon this monster."

"40!" I gasped.

"Did he send his whole deck to the graveyard!"

"That's so shocking that I cannot shiver!"

"Wait, where is his monster?"

True, as shocking as that demonstration was, it would mean nothing if he could not summon them. I then inspect my disk at the number of cards he has left on his deck, which is 17 cards. That means, he is playing a deck of 60 cards, the maximum number of cards a deck can play.

"If you are wondering where is that monster, then don't worry, he's not showing up… yet. But next turn he will appear. Which is why, fortunately for me I had used One Day of Peace so I should have 1 more turn, right?" he asked me, to which I must agree. If I had been in his shoes, that would have been in the case… however he follows up with, "HOWEVER, I don't really need it. One Day of Peace is only my mercy for my opponents. That's not all, there are better plays with that card compared to what I am about to do, but that will be a duel for another time. After all, all the cards I needed are already in my Graveyard."

Does that mean he uses the Graveyard a lot? Is that why he sent all of his deck to the Graveyard?

"Now, enough talk, let's begin. First, I activate Pot of Extravagance! By banishing 3 or 6 cards from my extra deck face down, I can draw a card for each 3 cards I banished." He pulled out 6 cards and pocketed them. "I banish 6 to draw 2."

"Next, from my graveyard, I activate the effect of Infinitrack Trencher by banishing this card from my graveyard, I can special summon 1 Level 5 or lower Infinitrack monster in defense. I select Infinitrack Anchor Drill (Level 4/EARTH/Machine/Effect/1800/500)! When Anchor Drill is summoned, I can Special Summon 1 EARTH Machine monster from my hand in Defense Position. I bring out Flying Pegasus Railroad Stampede (Level 4/EARTH/Machine/Effect/1800/1000)! Flying Pegasus's effect activates! When this card is summoned, I can special summon an EARTH Machine monster from my graveyard. Return, Super Express Bullet Train (Level 10/EARTH/Machine/Effect/3000/0)"

"Then I activate Magical Hound's effect from my Graveyard. If this card is in my hand or Graveyard, I can return 1 Spell or Trap card my opponent controls to the hand. Then Special Summon it. I return your Dark Contract with the Swamp King to special summon tuner monster Magical Hound (Level 1/EARTH/Machine/Tuner/Effect/500/800)!

"Tuner monster, are you…"

"Yes, I am! I tune my Level 4 Infinitrack Anchor Drill and Level 4 Flying Pegasus Railroad Stampede with Level 1 Magical Hound! By gears that move thine body and strings that puppeteer thine movement, I call upon the greatest of all generals given form in puppets! Synchro Summon (Level 1 + Level 4 + Level 4 = Level 9)! Come on, the shogun has arrived. Level 9 Karakuri Super Shogun mdl 00N "Bureibu" (Level 9/EARTH/Machine/Synchro/Effect/3000/1500)!"

That is his Synchro monster… He has also revealed his Fusion monster. He also has a level 10 monster on the field and based on the previous records, he will use it for an Xyz Summoning.

"Next, from my graveyard I activate the effect of Machina Ruinforce (Level 10/DARK/Machine/Effect/4600/4100) by banishing Machine monsters from my graveyard whose total levels are 12 or more, I can special summon this card from my graveyard!" As he did that, he pocketed 3 monsters. All of which, he revealed were Level 5 monsters and they were all the same monsters.

All of a sudden, I see a dark machine with attack points more than I expected appeared. This one easily overpowered all of my monsters!

"Next, I will now create an Overlay network with Level 10 Machina Ruinforce and Super Express Bullet Train. From beyond the horizon, riding along the railways, run through and support the front lines with heavy ordinance! Xyz Summon! The cavalry is here, Number 81: Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Super Dora (Rank 10/EARTH/Machine/Xyz/Effect/3200/4000)!"

He brought out a huge train in defense. Fusion… Synchro… and Xyz… so he is capable of this much. Not only that, their attack and defense are impressive.

"I am not through yet!" There are more? "From my graveyard, I activate Infinitrack Tunneller. By banishing this card, I select 5 EARTH Machine monsters in my graveyard and shuffle them into my Deck. Then I draw 2 more cards." He declared and did as he explained. The moment he drew two cards he then continued, "What luck, I activate the effect of Magnet Reverse this card allows me to Special Summon a Machine or Rock monster that is banish or in my graveyard. HOWEVER, said monster must have the effect of 'cannot be Normal Summoned or Set'. That's not all, I will activate a second Magnet Reverse!"

"Now come, Drytron Alpha Thuban (Level 1/LIGHT/Machine/Effect/2000/0) and Drytron Zeta Aldhibah (Level 1/LIGHT/Machine/Effect/2000/0)."

And according to the records, that is his Ritual engine. Now show me what can your Rituals do.

"Next, I will create an Overlay Network with Level Alpha Thuban and Zeta Aldhibah! Xyz Summon! Rank 1 Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir (Rank 1/LIGHT/Machine/Xyz 2/Effect/2000/0)!"

"What!" I blurted as this was not what I expected!

"When Mu Beta Fafnir is Xyz Summoned, I can send 1 "Drytron" card from my Deck to my Graveyard. With this, I send the spell Meteonis Drytron to the graveyard. Next, I continue with Meteonis Drytron's effect, by reducing the attack of 1 Drytron monster I control, I can return this card to my hand."

The Xyz monster on his field became weaker (2000 1000)

"And now, I will show you how Ritual Summoning is really done! I activate the ritual spell Meteonis Drytron! This allows me to Ritual Summon ANY Ritual Monster from my hand or Graveyard!" he declared and my expectations were shot through the roof once more, "That's not all, I must also tribute Machine monsters from my hand or field whose total attack points are equal to or exceed the attack of the Ritual Monster I want to summon!"

"WHAT!"

"HE USES THE MONSTER'S ATTACK POINTS AS A TRIBUTE!"

"He didn't teach us that!"

"Next, Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir's effect activates! When I ritual summon, I can detach materials from this card as the monsters required for the Ritual Summon instead!"

"What did you say!" I gasped, "Xyz materials as Ritual material!" This is the first time I've ever heard of such capabilities!

"I said what I said. Now, I tribute the two Xyz materials from Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir. Alpha Thuban (2000) and Zeta Aldhibah (2000)! From the stars beyond the event horizon, heed my call and shine boldly so that all may find you when night falls. Ritual Summon! Level 12, Drytron Meteonis Quadrantids (Light/Level 12/Machine/Ritual/Effect/4000/4000)."

I braced myself as a storm kicked in and revealed a dragon clad in blue and white armor appeared.

"That's not all, when Quadrantids is Ritual Summoned and the total Levels of monsters used for its summoning were 2 or less, I can destroy all Spells and Traps my opponent controls!" As Kyou Yuuki declared, a meteor shower rained down on my field but before that can happen, I am forced to play them!

"I activate Contract Laundering! I can destroy as many Dark Contract card I control and draw the same number of cards I have destroyed. Then gain 1000 LP for each card I drew." I should have activated this card the moment he activated Magical Hound's effect. However, when he mentioned returning to the hand, I was placed in a false sense of security. However, I will not allow this to happen again. Not when I am about to be placed at a disadvantage.

When my cards were destroyed by my own terms, I did accordingly and gain a better response to Kyou Yuuki's cards.

Yuuki – 4000 1

Reiji – 6000 5

"And now, is the last step! From my hands I activate the Quick Spell Cyberload Fusion!"

A fusion spell!

"I can fusion summon 1 Fusion Monster that has 'Cyber Dragon' as one of its material. Then I shuffle the materials from my field… or that are banished into my deck! From my banished pile, I fuse all three Cyber Dragons which was banished for the summoning of Machina Ruinforce. I return all 3 of my banished Cyber Dragon to my deck as my materials for a fusion summon!"

Not only is he able to fusion summon from his deck, he can also fusion summon with monsters that are banished as a fusion material! That's unprecedented! Yet… just from this duel alone, I've finally understood the major gap between him and me… no… this entire dimension combined.

"Three mechanized hearts combine and converge into a single unit of power! Fusion Summon! The final design, Level 10 Cyber End Dragon (Level 10/LIGHT/Machine/Fusion/Effect/4000/2800)."

It was at this point, I knew the duel was over had it not been for his One Day of Peace. He was right to say that the card was his mercy for his opponents. After all, mercy is something that only the strong is privileged to show. As the final monster fill up his monster zone, I could hear his final message… one that I will forever remember for life alongside his existence as the sixth-dimension duelist.

"Heed my word. I am Kyou Yuuki. The Machine Emperor. And I have never known defeat."

Sora's Point of View

"Unbelievable…"

Was all I could say when I compare Kyou Yuuki to Akaba Reiji. At first, I thought the latter was amazing, but Kyou Yuuki had managed to do all of that and then some! What's more, Kyou Yuuki had managed to pull all manner of summoning. The ones that actually caught my attention are fusion summoning with monsters in his deck and even monsters that were banished.

That's not all, he even performed a Ritual Summoning using Xyz materials as tribute. Not to mention, using their Attack Points as a condition. And he did all of those in one turn…

Now that I have seen his full strength… or part of it, I am beginning to reevaluate my thoughts on him. In fact, I wouldn't find it strange when he face off the entire might of the Obelisk Force… and come out victorious… and without losing his life points.

Midori-sensei… I hope you are seeing this.

"Heed my word. I am Kyou Yuuki. The Machine Emperor. And I have never known defeat."

The Machine Emperor, is what he… no… what LDS calls him. Have never known defeat… yes, I am seeing that now, especially with the number of monsters he has on his field, all of which has attack points comparable to the Obelisk Force's strongest monster…

Even though they are weaker, I get the feeling that those were not his strongest monsters, especially when I remembered how one of the kids mentioned that he has a monster with 6000 attack points. Not only that, the LDS report also mentioned how he does not take damage but his opponent takes them instead. What kind of monster does that…

Kyou Yuuki then continued his turn as he declares an attack on all of his opponent's monsters. Due to One Day of Peace's effects, Akaba Reiji does not take damage until the end of his turn.

"I activate D/D/D Wave King Caesar's effect, during either player's turn, I can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and at the end of the Battle Phase, I can Special Summon as many monsters that were destroyed this turn!" He declared before his monster is destroyed.

The moment the battle phase is over, all 3 of Akaba Reiji's monsters had returned but not before a series of effect ensues. Firstly, his fusion monster, D/D/D Flame King Genghis allows him to add 1 Dark Contract from his graveyard. The same goes with his Xyz Monster, D/D/D Wave King Caesar, only he adds a Dark Contract from his deck to his hand, giving him a full hand advantage of 7 cards.

"Well done boy. If it wasn't for One Day of Peace, you would have been defeated already." Said Kyou Yuuki and he was right. If that card's effect had worn off during his turn, then Akaba Reiji would have been defeated. "I end my turn."

"Indeed, my turn."

Yuuki – 4000 0

Reiji – 6000 8

"I reactivate Dark Contract with the Swamp King." Here it comes, "I fuse both D/D/D Wave King Caesar and D/D/D Gust King Alexander! Fusion Summon! Be born, D/D/D Flame High King Genghis (Level 8/FIRE/Fiend/Fusion/Effect/2800/1500)!"

"At this moment, D/D/D Flame King Genghis's effect activate! When another D/D monster is Special Summoned, I can Special Summon 1 D/D monster from my graveyard. Return, D/D Lilith (Level 4/DARK/Fiend/Effect/100/2100)! D/D Lilith's effect allows me to add 1 D/D monster from my graveyard into my hand. With her effect, I return D/D Nighthowl and summon it (Level 3/DARK/Fiend/Tuner/Effect/300/600)!"

Is he planning the same strategy? No… he brought out a stronger Fusion Monster… so that means…

"With Nighthowl's effect, from the graveyard, I special summon D/D Berfomet (Level 4/DARK/Fiend/Effect/1400/1800)! Next, D/D/D Flame High King Genghis's effect allows me to Special Summon 1 D/D monster from my graveyard when I summon another D/D monster. Return, D/D/D Gust King Alexander (Level 7/WIND/Fiend/Synchro/Effect/2500/2000)!

Now, I will now tune my Level 7 D/D/D Gust King Alexander with Level 3 D/D Nighthowl! Be born, D/D/D Gust High King Alexander (Level 10/WIND/Fiend/Synchro/Effect/3000/2500)! Next, I activate D/D Berfomet's effect, I can change my monster's level from 1 to 8 until the end phase. With its effect, I change it to level 6 and with it I overlay Level 6 D/D Berfomet and D/D/D Flame King Genghis. Be born, Rank 6 D/D/D Wave High King Caesar (Rank 6/WATER/Fiend/Xyz 2/Effect/2800/1800)!"

I observed how Akaba Reiji is able to upgrade his entire field. Even so, his monsters still cannot keep up with Kyou Yuuki's monsters.

"Next, I activate both of my Dark Contract with the Gate to add 2 D/D monsters from my deck… I now set the Pendulum Scale with Scale 1 D/D Savant Galilei (1) and Scale 10 D/D Savant Kepler (10). Now I can summon monsters between Level 2 and 9 simultaneously!"

Yuuki – 4000 0

Reiji – 6000 5 Scale 1~10

"What!"

"Those are Pendulum Monsters!"

"Impossible!"

"No way!" I gasped

"The great power that shakes my soul, reside in my body and become the new light that cuts through the darkness! Appear, my monsters! The ultimate god that rule all the kings! D/D/D Doom King Armageddons (Level 8/DARK/Fiend/Pendulum 4/Effect/3000/1000)!"

I now observe Akaba Reiji's entire field now filled with 5 monsters, 2 Pendulums and 1 of each Fusion, Synchro and Xyz.

"BATTLE! High King Genghis (2800), attack Drytron Mu Beta Fafnir (0)!" The fusion monster attacked the weaker Xyz monster and destroyed it. "Next, Doom King Armageddon (3000) attack Karakuri Super Shogun Bureibu (3000)!" The second attack followed and it's a clash. Both monsters were destroyed. "At this moment, I activate my second Armageddon's effect, when a monster I control is destroyed, this monster gains ATK equals to that monster's original ATK until the end phase! Armageddon's attack points are 3000, so my Armageddon gains 3000 attack points. Now, continue Armageddon (3000 6000), attack Drytron Meteonis Quadrantids (4000)!" The third attack connected.

"Quadrantis's effect activates. When this Ritual Summoned card is destroyed, I can special summon Drytron monsters from my Graveyard whose combined attacks equals exactly 4000."

"I won't allow it! Wave High King Caeser's effect activates! By removing 1 Xyz Material from this card (Xyz 2 1), I can negate a card effect that Special Summons a monster and destroy it!"

"Nicely done… and with that, Caesar also gives himself and another D/D monster 1800 attack points." Kyou Yuuki knew?

"But of course, with Caesar's effect, I give both him and Alexander 1800 attack. Now go, Caesar (2800 4600), destroy his Cyber End Dragon (4000)!"

As much I hate to see an Xyz monster destroying a Fusion monster… I still have to admit that this is impressive.

"And finally, Alexander will attack your Superdreadnought (4000)! That's not all, Alexander gains 3000 attack if there are 3 or more D/D/D monsters on the field (3000 4800 7800)! Go!"

With that last attack, Kyou Yuuki's field has been emptied once more. "With this, I end my turn."

I now observe perhaps the most spectacular duel in my entire life. In fact, I am rooting for them both surprisingly. Kyou Yuuki is indeed strong and so is Akaba Reiji. They are both amazing! Still, looking at both fields, I can clearly see who is the superior one. Akaba Reiji has a field of 4 powerful monsters and some cards in his hands while Kyou Yuuki had nothing on his field.

But even still, he does use his graveyard… so what kind of plays can he do I wonder.

"Sensei! Do your best!" I heard Yuuya cheered.

"That's right! You can do it!" this time, Yuzu joined the cheering. Soon, the kids followed in.

I then turned to the LDS groups. At first, they were as transfixed as we were when they witnessed Kyou Yuuki performed his full board summoning. Now however, their faces are replaced with assurance and smugness, especially the chairwoman.

I turned back to the duel, my Duel Disk is still recording every second of the duel. Now… Kyou Yuuki, what is your next move?

"Very nice. Well then, I suppose I should start taking you a bit more serious because you, despite not lowering my Life Points, but like Yuuya, have officially raised yourself to the second level." I heard Kyou Yuuki spoke.

"Second level? What do you mean?" I am of the same opinion as Akaba Reiji.

"Essentially, I grade my opponents based on their milestones achieved. Like say Yuuya, he had lowered my life points, the first person who had done it with a deck I personally own. The same goes for you, whom had cleared all of my monster in a single battle phase. As such, both of you have earned the privilege to face a more… stronger level of my deck. But first, let us transition into it. Draw."

Yuuki – 4000 1

Reiji – 6000 3 Scale 1~10

"Are you saying that you have been holding back the entire time?" Akaba Reiji questioned.

"Yes, I am. Or rather, I still am. But first, let's go into the Standby Phase because Future Fusion's effect activate!" I forgot about that card! "During my second Standby Phase after this card's activation, I can summon the monster I Fusion Summon with this card." He snapped his hands and the extended his Duel Disk arm. Several machine monsters shot out of the graveyard zone and become a flurry of bright colourful lights. The wisped around the field and then spiraled together, creating a fusion portal.

"Singles, Tens, Hundreds and even Thousands! Cogs, frames and parts. Complex machinations converge into a single unit of power! Fusion Summon! The one who is many, Level 9 Chimeratech Overdragon (Level 9/LIGHT/Machine/Fusion/Effect/?/?)."

As the portal dissipates, a large hexagonal core appeared with an unknown stat.

"What kind of monster is that?" Akaba Reiji asked.

"The best kind. The original attack and defence of this card… becomes equal to the number of Fusion Materials used for its Fusion Summon. The number of monsters I used is 40. Then take that number and multiply it by 800!"

As he said that, I saw mechanical dragon heads appear from the core… one… two… five… ten… 20… 30… 40…

"WHAT!" it was not just Akaba Reiji who gasped, even we repeated after him. Doing the math, that monster has a total of…

32000 attack and defense…

"Want to know the best part?"

There's more?

"This card can attack up to a number of times each Battle Phase… up to the number of Fusion Materials used for its Fusion Summoning… in other words it can attack 40 times. This game… is over-"

Un… believable…

However, that did not last because the monster simply disappears as soon as it appeared.

What… just happened?

"- Was what I wanted to say had it not been for its effect. If Chimeratech Overdragon is Fusion Summoned, I must send all other cards I control to the graveyard, in other words, Future Fusion is sent to the graveyard. At the same time, when Future Fusion leaves the field, the monster summoned by this card is destroyed."

Even so… that one card alone is more than enough to solidify him as a dangerous threat. Now I know and I am sure that not even the Obelisk Force… no… not even the entire Obelisk Force can stop him. Midori-sensei… can you… are you able to stop him?

"Now then, boy… no… Reiji. As much as I wanted to play this card," he revealed the card he drew and I was confused because the card is a… golden ball?, "I am afraid that our time's up."

"What?" Right when Kyou Yuuki declared that, I then heard the chairwoman's surprised response. I turned and could see the man in uniform whispering into her ears.

"Professor Marco was…" the Fusion Ace exclaimed.

What just happened?

"Reiji!" the chairwoman called out and he looked at his Duel Disk, which the man in uniform communicate to him directly. I couldn't hear the conversation but as soon as the message was delivered, Akaba Reiji simply turned and moved to the door.

That was a shame… I really wanted to know more about this next level Kyou Yuuki mentioned… but I suppose this will do. I stopped the recording and send it to Midori-sensei.

Reiji's Point of View

I cursed internally at the poor timing. As I was about to experience Kyou Yuuki's true potential, I got a report saying that one of our staff members had become a card. As outlandish that sounded, I believed that report as it was delivered directly to me by our top operators. I walked pass my opponent.

"Apologies, we'll finish this another time." I hurriedly walk past Kyou Yuuki. It was unfortunate but work must come first.

"Wait!" he called out and I paused. "Since you have… entertain me, allow me to give you a piece of advice… and a warning."

That was intriguing but I listened anyways.

"You are looking for an Xyz duelist who has deep hatred towards Fusion, for obvious reasons. His motive… you."

Xyz… and I am the target… was it because I am… that man's son?

"Now for your warning. If you do find him, let me know. After what he did to him… his sister… is going to be crying. He's mine, Reiji."

Was all he said before he deactivated his disk and walked pass me and out of view.

On one hand, his advice made my job easier as he had helped me narrow down my search. On the other hand, I suddenly pity the person who made him angry. After all, I could feel a seething anger coming from his tone.

Midori's Point of View

I've been rummaging through the duelist registration data base for the past few days and so far, I could not find any information nor the existence that is Kyou Yuuki. It is possible that he had changed his name but I still couldn't rule that out yet. After several searches with his name, all of which came up nothing, I then resort to other means like facial scan, history search, so on and so forth. Ultimately, all of them came up empty.

I have even come up with the conclusion that this person is NOT a spy. Yet, how does he possess the knowledge and the secrets of Super Polymerization. On top of that, contact fusion is a recent discovery. We've only begun its testing phase on a student whom showed the perfect aptitude for it. So how does a recent discover came into the hands of a foreign world.

I rubbed the bridge of my nose as I got some headaches thinking about all of these whys and hows.

I turned to the side and look at the picture of this Kyou Yuuki. He wore a black turtleneck and a grey leather jacket with blue hexagonal patterns. He has short two-toned hair consisting of grey and black, with the grey hair combed to his left. He also has green eyes and had a pair of square framed glasses.

"At least he's good looking," I blurted out as I instinctively recalled a few other colleagues and students of mine who tried to hit on me.

BEEP

Gah! I barked in surprised as a sound startled me. I looked around and learned that I've just received a video attachment from Sora. More information. Good.

After watching the video, my migraine came back full swing.

I wanted to yell out how ridiculous his monsters are. How reckless he was for milling his entire deck just to summon one monster. How arrogant he was to claim he had never been undefeated… then he had to bring out all those monsters and THAT… one big one…

All the stress I had been through, all the headaches I've had due to his data being nonexistent, all the night shifts I had to take in order to look up on this guy…

I arched backwards from my seat and threw my arms to my head. The only intelligent word that came out of my mouth was: "What did I just watched?"

Cyber Dragon… it was supposed to be a myth… not many people know about it because it was long forgotten… yet here it is…

I readjusted myself and then sent a private message to my other associates…

The bad news is that my migraine will get worse from now on. However, the good news is that this man is going to be our best chance against Akaba Reo.

End Chapter 6

Author's Note

Apologies for the late upload. I only have two reasons why:

2) The website was down and the traffic displays 0 so wasn't able to upload when I wanted to.

Now for the announcements:

1) This story will continue again during or after November as I will need to write the next batch of chapters. Still unsure but I will try to get as many of it done by Early November.

2) We are entering the 2nd Arc of the story, the Tournament Arc. This will focus on the... two Xyz duelist along with a new student of Kyou-sensei.
