Chapter 3: A dance under the full moon
Normal pov
A few weeks passed by unnoticed as Feria and Akafia the thief king lived at the edge off the shadow realm together. Feria being adjusted to taking care off herself managed to forge the items they needed to survive. She made small traps to catch potential animails that lived here for dinner and tried to come up with new recepies every day to keep dinner interesting for a certain broody thief king.
Akafia was away most off the day, looking for potential ways to escape their current predicament and get back to his usual agenda off wrecking havoc on the pharaoh and gathering up the millenium items... but up until now he wasn't very succesfull in doing so,which made him broody and temperamental. Something he often reacted off on Feria, whom was crafting items to survive at first, but after she had everything she needed to survive she started to make items to make the cave they lived in feel a little more like a home then a prison.
"You shouldn't be making this place like a home so match" Akafia snapped when he saw Feria had crafted a curtain to put before the entrance when he returned from his usual inspectian route.
"we should, until we are out!" Feria remarked sharply as she worked on a vase near the river bank. "besides I have to do something to pass the time"
"not the type to sit iddly by aren't you?" Akafia replied with a smirk on his face, wiping some water he had just drank from his face as he spoke. "Good to know for when I am in charge"
Feria rolled her eyes at him for this remark. Knowing already how this whole dispute between The Pharoah and him was gonna end, so instead off making a command about this and probably making the situation between them even more tense she looked at the full moon reflecting on the blue water off the river while the stars danced in the night sky above them which somehow reminded her off a old lullaby she heard… making her starting to sing softly.
Look up with me at the stars
I'll be with you wherever you are
In dreams and nightmares love and fright '
Together we will put the world right
As long as I hold you in my arms
To you there will never come any harms…
(oh no) to you there will never come any harms…
"why the bloody hell are you singing that?!" Akafia's voice called from behind Feria, something that made the brunette snap up her head up to look at him wth a shocked look. Almost as if she had forgotten he was there. "this is not some bloody disney movie from the future were disney princesses sing about how they feel"
"I know that" Feria looked up at Akafia with a calm look, before turning away to look at the water again. "and I don't even were that came from… that song… I never heard it before… not for as far as I know"
"You never heard the song before, yet you can sing it out off the blue?" Akefia got up from were he was sitting and came to stand next to her. "you sure are a strange one aren't you?"
"it never happened to you before then?" Feria asked, looking to the side at Akafia with a rather suprised look. She had thought seeing were he came from he would be tormented by memories off her parents and his people… especially after what he had told her about himself the past few weeks together.
"not in the way you have I must say" Akafia looked up at Feria, before he chuckled a little. "Not that I enjoy dwelling on the past for to long mind you"
"You mentioned as match" Feria chuckled.
"You hardly mentioned your past" Akafia stated out off nowhere, looking at Feria calmly as he spoke. "Nothing beyond how you met those… friends off yours"
"what is there to say?" Fera shrugged, looking away to hide the tears stinging in the corners off her eyes. "my mother is a pirate living at sea… she dumped me and my twin brother Odeon on my uncle in Cairo as I told before… and my father is death"
"do you know what she looks like?" Akafia's question came out a lot more tender then he intended. But in that moment he really symphetized with Feria… she also had no one left in the world just like him.
"No… she hasn't come around me ever since she dumped me on my uncle" Feria shrugged. "and my father died when I was an infant… so i do not remember what he looked like either"
"your a orphan in all but name then" Akafia remarked cooly.
"In a sense i concider myself a orphan yes" Feria admitted. "since I don't think my mother cares for me… or she would have shown her face around more often" Feria's eyes shot up to meet the gaze off Akafia, realizing that must sound cruel towards someone whom lost both his parents and his home in such a cruel fashion… "sorry…. That must have come off as Cruel…I…. I just… feel frustrated somethimes at her absense in our lives… she doesn't even knows how terrebly my uncle treathed Odeon…" Feria looked away with tears in her eyes. "he was practicly a slave in the Isthar home after misses Isthar died.."
"aah" Akafia looked away, not really knowing what to say next. Sure it was tragic that the girl had been dumped by her mom when she was young but he himself had no family… no friends… no one at all to turn to… so she shoudn't be complaining about her mommy issue's… she at least has a mother. "Well better mommy issue's then no mother at all i'd say"
"True" Feria admitted with a shrug, before looking at the water at a loss for words. "I didn't tried to wine for the sake off wining..." Feria looked up at Akafia and gave him a stern look. "I know you had it way worse then me"
She understood that her situation was different from Akafia's. She had a mother, even if their relationship wasn't the best. She couldn't fully comprehend what it felt like to have lost everything, to have no one left in the world. She felt a pang of guilt for complaining about her own problems when his pain was so much deeper.
"I'm sorry," Feria finally said, her voice filled with genuine remorse. "I just... I think what I wanted to say... is that we might have more in comman then we think"
"maybe..." Akafia agreed, before he went silent for a moment, his gaze still fixed on the water. Then, he sighed.
"And its okay, I am used to being the last off my people by now" Akafia shrugged, looking from the full moon to some lights glowing in the far distance. "Especially because I am gonna make the Pharaoh pay as soon as i manage to get out off here"
Akafia observed Feria as she hummed a tune. Sitting close to the river on a stone as she looked at the lights. The moon reflected a strange stripe off white in her hair that made his hearth feel strange... like something was tickling inside off his stomach...
"What is this feeling?" Akafia thought, placing a hand on his chest on the place his hearth was. "Why do i feel so confused when she looks at me"
"Its a lovely night" Feria commanded, and as their eyes met Akafia could practicly hear music in the air.
"Yeah it sure is" Akafia fell his feet draw closer to the stone she was sitting on. Reaching out his hand to touch her hair before he changed his mind... "W... would you care for a dance?"
"N...now?" Feria looked up nervously, tho Akafia could see a small blush creep on her cheecks. "B..but we have no music"
"You know how to waltz i pressume?" Akafia asked, gently holding out his hand to her. And as Feria looked up she could feel her own chest flutter as well.
"Y...yes" Feria stammered as she got up and gently took his hand.
"Then listen to that music inside off you and teach me" Akafia growled on the inside. Realizing how mushy that must have sounded... he was the thief king for crying out loud! Were in the name off zork the dark one did that come from? "She is turning me soft! Bloody goody-two shoes girl! But then again... why does it feel so right to be near her?"
"Never learned to walz didn't ya?" Feria smiled a little as she adjusted my pose then got in position herself.
"Can't say i have" Akafia adjusted his pose, then gently took hold off Feria's waist. "Tho i have observed couples dancing once or twice... so i know a thing or two about dancing"
(Verse 1)
Underneath the moonlit sky, we sway
Lost in a world that's just our own
A stolen moment, a dance so pure
In the shadow realm, where love has grown
The pair started to walz to the music in the air now. Their eyes sparkling in the light off the moon now.
(Pre-Chorus)
In this forbidden place, where hope's been confined
We find solace in each other's embrace
Moving together, hearts intertwined
A connection that time cannot erase
"it shows you have been observing dancing couples" Feria complimented after they danced for a moment. "Your quite good"
"Your a good dancer as well" Akafia returned the complimented. A glimmer off a smile crossing over his face as he spoke.
(Chorus)
Dancing in the dark, our souls take flight
In this enchanting rhythm, we find our light
Through the melodies of our hearts, we're free
This dance, our escape from captivity
(Verse 2)
With every step, we leave our troubles behind
The weight of our burdens slowly fades away
In this waltz, where love and destiny align
We're bound together, come what may
(Pre-Chorus)
In this forbidden place, where hope's been confined
We find solace in each other's embrace
Moving together, hearts intertwined
A connection that time cannot erase
As their dance went on both became a little more sure off themselves. Akafia even daring to close the gap between them as they swirled her around. Match to the amusement off Feria, whom giggled as she gently gave him the lead.
(Chorus)
Dancing in the dark, our souls take flight
In this enchanting rhythm, we find our light
Through the melodies of our hearts, we're free
This dance, our escape from captivity
"did her eyes always have that beatifull twinkle in them?" Akafia caught himself wondering as they moved totally in sync with each other. "or is this the first time they sparkle like the stars in the sky…"
(Bridge)
The mystic moonlight guides our way
As we twirl and spin in a world of dreams
In this ephemeral moment, we stray
Lost in the enchantment of the moonbeams
Neither off them saw or noticed Isis had found them. Watching from the other shore as the two danced and complimented each others dancing skills.
"Maybe it is best i do not interfiere... it seems the girl is...without realizing... helping the Pharaoh to restore peace" the secret court member smiled to herself, instandly record-icing the look the two off them shared when they faced her way... it was clear as day to her they were starting to fall in love...
(Chores)
Dancing in the dark, our souls take flight
In this enchanting rhythm, we find our light
Through the melodies of our hearts, we're free
This dance, our escape from captivity
As the two off them walzed closer to the edge off the river Isis quickly retreated back to her horse just in time as her millenium necklace started to shine. Showing her a glimpse off the future. Zork the dark one risen… The pharaoh on his knees, seemingly at the end off his powers while Feria and the Thief king stood before him hands interlinked… giving each other a knowing look as both used their Ka monsters to bind zork… just as the Pharaoh's friends arrive…
"it seems Bakura is gonna switch sides if I let them be for now" Isis thought, getting on her horse, careful as to not desturb the dancing pair near the river. A small smile creaping on her lips as she turned her horse and gave it the lead to walk away from the river. "good luck Feria… You will need it… judging the road I have witnessed ahead off you"
(Outro)
In the shadow realm, where darkness binds
Our dance becomes a symbol of defiance
United, we'll break free, leave it all behind
Together, we'll find our world (oo yeah) together we'll find our world...
As the song ended the two found their faces only inches away from other on the verge off a kiss. With Feria looking as if she had been really on the verge off closing the gap.
"Eeeh" Akafia turned away to hide the blush on his face, before he cleared his troath turned back. "You... you dance very well..."
"T...thanks" Feria smiled, also turning away to hide her blushing face as well as the dissappointment at not being able to kiss him before she caught herself and blushed even more. Why did she wanne kiss the thief king? Wasn't he supposed to be the enemy? Why did she feel the urge to hold him close? To kiss him?
"We... we should probably... get some sleep" Akafia blushed even more as they said the last part off the line at thesame time. "Night"
"Goodnight Akafia" Feria smiled and for the first time since their imprisoment no insult followed from Akafia, making Feria smile. Maybe she actually managed to thaw the thief kings hearth…

and with that I end the third Chapter off the story. Sorry if it is a bit short but this was something I really wanted to tell this bit as to not make their relationship feel rushed.
A/N
I am not saying their already in love with each other with this chapter. I only wanted to show here that there is a slight connection between the two.
Keep in mind that Isis has seen the two dance and the vision she had. they might still have a roll to play.
I generated the song with a AI generator because I really lacked inspiration for a song to go with the moment. But I did write the scene around it myself. I hope you like it!
well, that was all for now! I really hope you enjoyed reading the chapter enough to
