Disturbing Behaviour
After having explained everything to an irritated Rebekah and Stefan having calmed down, the three Vampires and Siphon head to a close-by upscale designer clothing store that Lorilei recommended. The men sit drinking champagne on the comfortable red chairs as the compelled staff wait on them, filling their glasses, and Klaus glances at the woman, uninterested. Rebekah tries on outfits while Lorilei gets changed after Candy is nice enough to grab her a change of clothes; both women are in the changing rooms. "There has to be more to this dress," Rebekah comments, trying on the hundredth outfit in a row.
"There's not," Klaus replies, growing bored unless it is Lorilei who is showcasing new outfits. Rebekah breaks his thoughts as she emerges in a black short dress from the changing room.
"So women in the 21st century dress like prostitutes, then? You know, I got dirty looks for wearing trousers," She remarks, and Lorilei comes out in black ripped jeans, black hoodies and a leather jacket with her hair in a messy bun and her make-up retouched.
"You wore trousers, so women today could wear nothing," He grumbles, and Lorilei sits beside him, taking a champagne flute.
"You like it when I wear nothing." Lorilei jokes, making Stefan and Rebekah cringe as she leans into Klaus, who wraps his arm around her shoulder, making his sister frown, still slightly confused about their relationship.
"And what is this music? It sounds like a cable car accident," Rebekah questions, pointing to the ceiling as the music rings through the speakers.
"It's dance music," Stefan answers, looking at her in the dress, and Lorilei's phone goes off, making her get up to answer.
"People dance to this?" She asks, frowning and watching her Brother glancing at the brunette Siphon as Stefan looks at her and hums in answer to her question.
"Are we done?" Klaus questions, growing glum at Lorilei's missing presence and his plan having failed yet again as he feels like making Hybrids is disappearing quickly, and his Pack mates are losing faith in the Original Hybrid.
"And why are you so grumpy?" The Original Sister challenges her older Brother, trying to figure out the relationship between Klaus and Lorilei.
"I needed one thing from you for my Witch to find out why my Hybrids are dying, one thing. Your necklace. And you lost it." He replies, standing up and looking at his Sister.
"I didn't lose it. It's just been missing for 90 years," Rebekah argues and looks at Stefan. "So what do you think?" She showcases her short black fishnet and nude dress that doesn't suit her.
"I like it," Stefan lies, making the blond Original glare at his answer. "What? I said I liked it."
"I can always tell when you're lying, Stefan," She replies, storming into the fitting room, and Klaus looks at his friend.
"Nice one, good work," Klaus grumbles, and Lorlei walks back to the chairs to join them after finishing her conversation.
"You're the one that pulled the dagger out of her," Stefan replies, making Lorilei scoff and slap the back of his head harshly, making the Vampire wince.
"I heard that," Rebekah yells from the changing room, and Lorilei frowns, seeing the outfits the blond Original is being given by the compelled staff.
"Okay! Stop!" Lorilei snaps, grabbing the retail assistant. "She is so not wearing that." She rips the clothes out of her hands.
"All right. I'm going to get some fresh air," Stefan announces, getting up and needing to leave as Lorilei grabs different clothing items. "Try not to kill them, McKnight." Klaus watches, amused at her belittling them as she storms around the shop and pours himself some champagne.
"I'll try!" Lorilei laughs, and Stefan gets to the glass door, needing some time to clear his head and spots Katherine across the street, who tilts her head, signalling for him to follow her. He goes outside, deciding to talk to her, his head still foggy from the new memories of the two Originals and his loyalty and friendship that formed over the summer with Klaus and Lorilei.
Back in Mystic Falls that same day, Damon and Elena stand in the Gilbert House kitchen cooking, trying to keep the Doppelganger's mind off her ending relationship with Stefan after a summer of trying to track him down and bring him home. "I just don't know why you want to bring chilli to a potluck. Everybody brings chilli," Damon comments when Alaric walks into the room. "Hey, Ric." Still surprised that the history teacher agreed to live with Elena after Jenna and Jeremy moved out to live at the McKnight house.
"What's up?" Alaric greets him, watching them as he makes himself some coffee to help wake him up from his rough night of drinking.
"What time do you want to go to the Lockwood party?" Elena asks him, cutting up vegetables on the kitchen island.
"Ah. Those Founders parties aren't really my thing," He argues, not wanting to run into Jenna, who will most likely be there.
"Show up; there's going to be nine other people that brought chilli." Damon remarks, earning a fake flirtatious glare from Elena.
"It's an old family recipe, okay?" Elena replies, smiling at him cheekily, and he smirks back at her.
"Yeah! I know. I knew your old family. They made sucky chilli," He jokes, making her giggle, and Alaric can't help but look at them, not understanding their flirting after coming back from Chicago.
"Why are you here, exactly?" Alaric questions, looking at the Vampire curiously as he doesn't often come around to the house.
"She knows," The older Salvatore Brother replies, glancing at Elena, who ducks her head a little.
"He thinks I'm going to break. I'm not going to break." Elena denies it, clearly lying. "I am just going to keep making chilli, pretend like I didn't just spend the entire summer looking for someone who didn't want to be found."
"She's in denial," Damon corrects, seeing the signs, and he wants to try cheering her up a little after their trip to Chicago.
"I'm not in denial," She whispers, though deep down, she knows she really is in denial.
"No?" He questions, looking at her and getting closer, touching her necklace, a present from Stefan early in their relationship. "You're still wearing this necklace. Isn't this the reminder of your unbreakable bond with Stefan?" Alaric watches them, feeling a little awkward, and they pull away, knowing they have an audience.
Stefan walks along the streets of Chicago and meets up with Katherine to talk privately away from the two Originals. "What the hell are you doing here?" Stefan demands, looking at her, knowing she'll be in deep trouble, and if he gets caught with her, he will, too.
"You two look chummy. Klaus' your new bestie?" Katherine questions him, though she doesn't know the extent of their relationship with the two Originals and Lorilei.
"You know, if he finds out you're in Chicago, you're dead," He reminds her, growing annoyed at his ex-lover.
"Happy to know you still care," She replies, hinting at their past relationship. "So tell me if I'm wrong… Rebekah's necklace that Klaus is looking for… That's the necklace that you gave to Elena?"
"Bye, Katherine," He says, walking away, not wanting to talk to her anymore, knowing she has an ulterior motive for everything.
"Hey, hey. Wait." The Vampire Doppelganger catches up with him. "You're up to something, tell me…"
"They don't know where the necklace is. I just have to keep them from figuring it out. I have it all under control." The younger Salvatore Brother tells her, not sure if he's lying or not yet.
"Please, tell me you have a better plan," Katherine pleads with him, but he doesn't answer her. "You do. Come on, Stefan. You're not the diabolical type. Whatever you're planning, it's not going to work."
"Well, if the most diabolical woman I know can't seem to figure it out, then I must be doing something right," He replies, walking through the crowd, trying to get away from her to clear his head from all his thoughts on what to do next.
"Uh-huh. I forgot. You're bad now. Don't get too cocky. Klaus is smarter than you. He's smarter than everyone. And I've heard about that, Sister. Be careful. She'll ruin you." She warns him, watching him walk away.
"Happy to know you still care," The Ripper says, turning the corner, getting away from her and signing to himself when he's on his own, needing to think about what he will do about his situation and he has to talk to Lorilei or someone that will understand.
Jeremy sleeps on his bed, having finished a long night at the Grill, helping Alexis and Matt count everything in the restaurant late into the night. He stirs awake to find himself in his new bedroom at the McKnight house to find Anna lying next to him. "Jeremy," Anna calls his name, making him jump to his feet off the bed in shock as he stares at his dead ex-girlfriend.
"Anna!" Jeremy exclaims, looking at her in pure shock and wondering how he can see and hear her.
"You heard me?" She questions, looking back at her human ex-boyfriend, who she has tried to talk to since she died.
"What are you doing here?" He asks her, glancing at her, still shocked at seeing her standing on the other side of his bed.
"Wait, like heard me, heard me, or did it sound more like a…" The dead Vampire Ghost tries asking him, but he stops her.
"Where have you been?" The human boy questions her, needing to know if he is seeing and hearing her right now.
"I need to know you can hear me," Anna snaps at him, feeling lonely from being on The Other Side alone since her death.
"You drop in, you tell me not to trust Vicki, and then you disappear?" Jeremy asks her, getting frustrated.
"Jeremy! Tell me you can hear me!" She shouts at him, needing to hear him say it before they can talk more.
"Yeah, yeah, I can hear you, all right?" He answers, glad to see her again after her sudden death, but doesn't know how else to feel as she is his ex-girlfriend, and he's now with Bonnie.
"I've been trying to get you to hear me for days. Yelling your name and screaming." The Ghost Vampire tells him, tears running down her face.
"You have?" The youngest Gilbert boy asks her, surprised at how much she must have suffered alone on The Other Side.
"What changed?" Anna wonders, looking at her ex-boyfriend. "I've been trying to get through to you; why now?"
"I was dreaming about you," Jeremy answers her, surprised himself as he hasn't dreamed about her before.
"You were dreaming about me?" She asks him, feeling her undead heart swell at that, but she sees the confusion in his eyes, and she sits down on the bed, and he follows, sitting next to her.
"I can't believe this is actually happening. That you're actually here," The boy replies, smiling at her, still a little confused at how he can see and hear his dead ex-girlfriend.
"I'm here," His ex-girlfriend smiles when someone rings the doorbell, and he hears Edward shouting for someone to answer the door as he doesn't have to work at the bookshop, but Jenna is at college, and Alexis is in the kitchen, making food for the Founders party later.
Earlier that morning, Elena opened the door at the Gilbert House to see Caroline with a dish in her hands. "I come bearing gifts," Caroline announces, stepping into the house with a bright smile.
"Please say that's not chilli," Elena sighs, looking at the dish in her best friend's hands when Bonnie enters the house. "Bonnie!" She exclaims, smiling and rushing to hug her other best friend.
"I'm back!" Bonnie grins, returning the embrace. "I leave town for the summer, and everything goes to hell for the both of you." Caroline and Elena look at each other, knowing there is more. "Where's Jeremy?"
"Well…" She mutters, avoiding eye contact with the young Witch.
"He and Jenna moved out after Elena went behind her back when she went to go find Stefan with Alaric after he and Jenna broke up, and they're now living at the McKnight house," Caroline informs the young Bennett Witch, who looks at the two girls in shock.
Jeremy walks downstairs to the front door as Alexis opens the door to find Bonnie on the other side. "Bonnie!" Jeremy exclaims, rushing down the stairs, happy to see his girlfriend.
"Jeremy!" Bonnie smiles, rushing over to him, and they kiss and embrace each other, making Alexis turn away and go back into the kitchen to leave the couple alone, unaware that he's looking over Bonnie's shoulder at Anna, who watches him.
Greta stands at the counter of the bookshop while Maddox handles the cafe with Luka when the landline rings, making her jolt, and she rushes, hoping it's something interesting as it's a little slow in the shop. "Hello, Mystic Books, Greta here; how can I help?" She answers the phone and begins to smile at the good news. "I've got to go! Luka, cover for me!" Greta shouts as she grabs her bag and key before exiting the building in a hurry.
"Hey!" Luka shouts after his Sister, but it falls on deaf ears, and he sighs.
"What the hell could that have been?" Maddox wonders, watching her leave in a hurry.
Greta passes Liz and Damon as they walk down the street in a hurry, making the Vampire glance at her in worry, but decides to ignore her for another. "So Mayor Lockwood called your gay ex-husband to torture your Vampire Daughter?" Damon questions the Sheriff.
"Yes," Liz answers. "I've been keeping him detained to make sure the vervain's out of his system. So you could, you know…"
"Can't we just kill him?" He wonders, joking a little, which earns a scathing look from the blond.
"No, Damon! He's Caroline's Father," She scolds him, glaring at her so-called friend.
"He sounds like a douche-bag to me," The older Salvatore Brother remarks, feeling sorry for the young blond Vampire.
"Yeah, well just 'cause you and I are on okay terms doesn't mean that I'm suddenly a big advocate for your 'lifestyle'." The Sheriff reminds him.
"Is that what you told him when you two got divorced?" Damon questions, and they head down to the cellar; Bill once held Caroline.
Gloria runs to the local hotel, which has all its rooms full because of Klaus' Pack members, and she runs to the dining room to see them all crowding around. "It's done!" She announces, making the Pack members turn to look at her. "The house is done!" She clarifies, making the Alphas jump to their feet in excitement.
"You mean it?" Stella asks, taking her infant Daughter Dakota into her arms as she grows fussy at the sudden interruption of her meal.
Stefan finally returns to Gloria's bar to find the owner sitting at a table with Klaus and Lorilei sitting at the bar with Rebekah. "You left us," The youngest Original remarks, glancing at her ex-lover suspiciously.
"Yeah, sorry. Retail therapy was making my head explode," Stefan jokes, joining them and making himself a drink to calm his nerves.
"Tell me about it," Klaus grumbles, rolling his eyes when Lorilei jabs him in the stomach with her elbow.
"Be nice to your Sister." Lorilei scolds him, and Stefan watches Gloria, wondering what she's doing.
"What's she doing?" Stefan asks them, growing nervous, but he knows deep down that Lorilei has his back.
"She's failing," Klaus replies, growing frustrated with being unable to turn his Pack members into Hybrids, especially those who wish it.
"It's hard to find something when you don't have anything to go on." Gloria voices, making Lorilei scoff.
"So use Rebekah. She only wore the thing for a thousand years. Any good Witch would have suggested it ages ago." Lorilei remarks, earning a glare from the older Witch.
"See? Now this one offers solutions," She replies, making the Siphon grumble swear words under her breath that only those with super hearing can make out, and Klaus can't help but chuckle, pulling her in closer to his chest, kissing her forehead. Rebekah jumps from her seat, walks over to Gloria, leaving the couple alone, and sits by the older Witch. "All right, give me your hand, sweetheart." Rebekah reluctantly gives her hand to Gloria, making Stefan a little more nervous.
"She's uh, she's looking for the necklace, huh?" Stefan questions, sharing a look with Lorilei, but he sees the confidence in her eyes and calms a little.
At that moment, at the Gilbert house, Elena and Caroline stand around the kitchen waiting for Bonnie to return from the McKnight house after seeing Jeremy. "Why did you tell her?" Elena asks the blond Vampire, who shrugs, feeling the tension and glad to hear Bonnie enter through the back door, smiling.
"How's Jeremy?" Caroline asks, trying to break the tension between her and Elena, though it doesn't help much.
"He seems good. We could only talk for a while since he had to help Alexis with something." Bonnie replies, smiling, glad to see her boyfriend after a summer away.
"I'm glad. So how was your summer with your Dad's family?" Elena asks, trying to steer the conversation away from her little Brother, who would rather live with strangers than with her.
"It was okay." She mumbles, earning looks from her best friends as she faces them at the kitchen island. "The problem with my dad's normal side of the family is normal made for a really boring summer."
"After the last few days, I would kill for a normal family," Caroline remarks, thinking of her time being held by her own Dad in a Vampire torture chamber to try and change what she is while helping Elena place the chilli into a casserole dish. "Since when did you learn how to cook?"
"Damon helped a little," Elena answers, earning looks from her best friends at the mention of the older Salvatore Brother.
"Damon's helping you cook now?" Bonnie questions, smirking at the Doppelganger, who blushes a little.
"Both of you, stop judging. He's just trying to be a good…" She argues but stops, feeling a searing pain on her chest as if something is burning her. "Ow!"
"Ahh! Did I splash you?" Caroline asks her, stepping away, looking at the human and seeing her holding her necklace.
"No, no, my necklace," The Doppelganger replies, taking it away from her chest to see a minor burn from the pendant.
Gloria holds Rebekah's hand in Chicago as she searches for the youngest blond Original's necklace. "I can sense something," Gloria announces, but Stefan sees Lorilei remain calm and tries to as well, though his thoughts are racing at what the outcome could be.
"It burned me!" Elena exclaims, holding her necklace away in shock and covering the healing scar.
"Maybe it's a sign you shouldn't be wearing it," Caroline guesses, earning a look from Elena and Bonnie.
"Caroline…" Bonnie chastises her, even though she somewhat agrees with her, but she won't voice her opinion just yet.
"What, I'm just saying. If you're going to be 'cooking' without Stefan," She reasons, putting away the dishes to help clean up the kitchen.
"Let me see it," The young Bennett Witch tells her, holding her hand and taking the necklace as Gloria casts her spell. The young Witch looks at the chain, touches it and receives an electric shock, making her and Elena drop it on the work surface, and they look at each other in amazement.
Gloria drops Rebekah's hand, finishing the spell and looks at the other three, waiting for news. "I found it." The Witch announces, making some nervous and the others excited.
"So where is it?" Rebekah demands, glaring at the Witch, wanting her necklace back immediately.
"It doesn't work like that, doll." Gloria tells her, making Lorilei roll her eyes. "I get images. There's a girl with her friends…"
"Yes, a dead girl with dead friends if I don't get my necklace back," She growls, making her older Brother roll his eyes at her childish behaviour.
"Well, I'll have to dive back in to get the details," The bar owner informs them, though Lorilei doesn't buy it.
"So dive," Klaus tells her, getting up and moving toward her, trying to intimidate her a little as he grows bored.
"I need more time. And space. You're harshing my ju-ju," Gloria warns him, glaring back at him as she doesn't feel intimidated by him.
"We can wait," Lorilei agrees with her boyfriend, playing with the older Witch as she doesn't trust her.
"I'm sure you can. But that's not what I asked," The Witch argues, turning her glare onto the Siphon, who can't help but smirk back at her.
"Hey. Hey, you know, why don't we just come back later. I'm hungry anyway. I'll let you pick who we eat," Stefan suggests to Klaus, wanting to escape the Witch. The Hybrid glances at his Sister, and they leave with Stefan and Lorilei, though the Siphon glares at Gloria before leaving.
Elena and Caroline sit on a bench away from the party at the Lockwood Manor when Bonnie rushes over to join them with her grimoire in her bag. "I have an identification spell that might be able to tell me what magic affected the necklace," Bonnie tells them, sitting next to Elena, who gives her the necklace. "It's going to take a while, so tell me if anyone's coming, okay?" She begins the spell while Caroline looks at Elena, needing to talk with her.
"So you're not, like, switching Salvatores, are you?" Caroline asks her honestly, needing to know.
"What?" Elena asks her, nervously glancing at her and trying to avoid answering because she isn't sure if she really is, and she doesn't want to turn into another Katherine Pierce.
"Caroline…" Bonnie warns the young Vampire, trying not to take sides with her two best friends.
"Stay focused," Caroline tells her, returning to her talk with the Doppelganger. "As your friend who worries for you daily, what is the deal with you and Damon?"
"There is no deal," Elena assures her, though she feels like it's a lie. "He's been just as focused on finding Stefan as I have."
"Yeah, but that doesn't make him any less Damon." She reasons. "If my own Father, who I love dearly, can't change me. No one's changing Damon. Not even you."
"Look, why are we even talking about this?" The brunette questions, trying to avoid answering again.
"Hey guys," Bonnie breaks their conversation, and they glance over to see the necklace levitating between the Bennett Witch's hands.
"What are you doing?" Caroline asks her, glancing around, growing worried someone might see, and she tries to stop the Witch.
"I'm not doing anything. It has its own magic," She tells them, making the Vampire and Witch stare at Elena, wondering what could have made the necklace react like it did earlier.
At the central part of the garden, Damon looks over all the dishes to see at least a dozen chilli dishes made by the founding families when Alaric joins him and hands him a beer. "I'm going to let you in on a little secret…" The older Salvatore Brother says to his friend. "Founders parties are just an excuse for the council to gather in back rooms and plot against Vampires."
"Hey, uh, I think you need to take a beat with Elena," Alaric warns him, needing to at least act like he's a responsible guardian for the girl since he's living there now.
"Excuse me?" Damon questions, looking at his only friend, frowning and trying not to snap his neck in front of everyone.
"Whatever it is you two have going on, I think it's a bad idea," He tells him, trying to remain clear and calm.
"I don't really think it's your problem, Ric," The Vampire thinly warns the Vampire Hunter, glaring at him.
"It is my problem." The history teacher argues. "I'm supposed to look after her, and this is me doing that."
"What do you think I'm doing?" Damon questions, growing annoyed with his supposed friend as they walk through the garden party, spotting Edward and Alexis McKnight chatting with Jeremy.
"What I think is you need to take a beat," Alaric repeats himself and goes to say more when Liz joins them.
"Damon? Sorry. Uh, the Mayor just called the council meeting," Liz announces, taking the Vampire away, unaware that the twins will also be in the secret Founding Family Council Meeting.
Lorilei walks into the warehouse, having finished talking with Leo about the new house for the Pack, as it is now finally finished. She steps inside to see Klaus and Stefan drinking from two girls on the couch while Rebekah stares at them, having finished hers. "My girl's dead. I'm bored," Rebekah announces but goes ignored by the men and Siphon, who texts on her phone, not wanting to watch the three Vampires feed. Klaus glances at Stefan, seeing the younger Vampire hungrily drink from the girl's neck, but notices it's slightly different from before, less savage.
"You weren't kidding about being hungry," Klaus comments, smirking at his friend, who drops the body to the floor.
"Yeah. It's been a long day," Stefan grumbles, his head still feeling foggy about what to do regarding his new memories and his old life in Mystic Falls.
"Try being related to her," He teases his Sister, laughing a little, and watches Lorilei move toward Elijah's coffin, still feeling that panging sensation in his chest. However, he knows she has no romantic feelings for his older Brother and only considers him a friend and former guardian.
"You're being mean." Rebekah pouts, glaring at her Brother. "And why are you being mean?" She turns to Stefan, her old flame. "You used to love me."
"It's been 90 years, Rebekah," He reminds her. "Give him a minute," He stands up for his friend.
"Why are you taking his side?" She whines like a child almost, making Lorilei snicker at the siblings.
"Because, my dear Sister, I feel pity for any man who doesn't give you what you want," The Original Hybrid teases his little Sister more.
"Talking from past experience?" Lorilei jokes, staying away from the dead bodies, not wanting blood on her clothes.
"Will you stop making me out to be a brat?" Rebekah snaps, glaring at her older Brother. "I am not a brat!"
"A thousand years of life experience says otherwise," Klaus replies calmly, getting up from the couch and moving toward Lorilei, knowing their fight the night before about undaggering Elijah is still playing in her mind too.
"Well, you're both no picnic, either. I mean, I've only spent one summer with you two, and I felt like I wanted to blow my head off." Stefan argues, and they hear the past tense in his words and smile, though Rebekah laughs, liking this side of the Ripper.
"Fantastic," Rebekah laughs, looking between the three of them, having some idea as to what happened over the summer, but there are still things she doesn't know. Stefan gets up, needing to do something quickly at his old apartment and plans to see Gloria without the others afterwards.
"I need to go," He announces, leaving the warehouse and the others alone.
"Where's he going?" She wonders aloud, looking at the others.
"To write a name on a wall," Klaus answers, earning a confused look from his Sister. "It's a long story."
"I need some real food, and I've got to call Leo again about the house," Lorilei announces, grabbing her bag with her purse.
"He talks to you more than me," He grumbles, looking at his girlfriend, who smirks at him. "I'm the Alpha."
"I've known Leo since college," She reminds him, walking out the door. "I'll be back later. Try not to upset your Sister while we're gone. It's good entertainment."
"Hey!" Rebekah shouts after her, watching her leave before turning to look at her older Brother. "How did you find someone like her?"
"Elijah found her," Klaus answers, surprising his little Sister, who turns to look at him and then at the coffins.
"What do you mean?" She asks him, glancing at Elijah's coffin, frowning at the thought of her older Brother.
"From what she told me, after she killed her parents, she was banished from her home and Elijah found her and took her in." He explains, surprising her.
"She killed her parents? Why?" The young Original questions and all he can do is shrug, never really getting into it.
"I don't know, but all I know from what she told me is that they deserved it." The Original Hybrid replies, making the youngest Original wonder what he means, but the look on his face is enough for now.
At the Founders party, Jeremy slips away to find an empty room while the twins attend the Council Meeting for Lorilei, and he closes the door behind him. "Anna?" Jeremy whispers. "Look, where are you? We don't have much time," He warns her, and she suddenly appears.
"We've got all the time in the world," Anna argues, smiling at him.
"I'm sorry about before. I just got, um, distracted," The young teen stutters, still trying to understand what is happening.
"It's fine. I get it." She assures him. "Why haven't you told her? You told that Alexis girl."
"Well, she's been gone all summer," He argues. "And Alexis sensed you, I couldn't lie."
"Yeah, I know that. Now why haven't you told her, really?" The ghost girl questions, already knowing the answer.
"I don't know. You know, I don't even understand how any of this is possible." The young Gilbert boy replies, looking at her, smiling a little at seeing her again.
"Well, it's kind of a push and pull," Anna explains. "I'm pushing from The Other Side trying to contact you, and sometimes, like just now, if you pull…"
"The Other Side? Is that… Is that what it's called?" Jeremy asks her, still getting used to the Supernatural world and has lots of questions that he needs to ask, maybe Alexis or Edward.
"That's what I call it." She shrugs. "I'm all by myself here. It's like I'm a part of your world; only no one can see me. I'm just… On The Other Side."
"Wait, what about Vicki?" He wonders, looking at his dead ghost Vampire ex-girlfriend in front of him.
"Whenever you say you see her, I feel something." The dead Vampire ghost tells him, not lying even a little. "A darkness. And when I try to tell you not to let her in, something crazy happens. Like, she's trying to push me out."
"Like the windows breaking," The teen mutters, remembering the last time.
"Just be careful. Try not to let her in. 'Cause she can't get through if you're not open to it." Anna warns him. "You don't understand how amazing it is to finally be able to talk to you. I'm all by myself here. I mean, I don't have anyone." She touches his hand, but he doesn't seem to realise until he sees her hand on his, and she takes it back. "I'm sorry. I know you can't feel anything.
"Do it again," Jeremy tells her, raising his hand, and she touches his, smiling.
Stefan gives it some time before he goes back to the bar with Gloria at the bar, needing to talk to her. "There you are," Gloria greets, knowing he would return at some point without the Originals and the Siphon.
"Thought you were resting," Stefan retorts, sitting on the stool and pouring himself a drink as she shelves her booze.
"Well, now we both have a secret," She replies, ignoring him a little.
"What did you see?" He asks her, needing to know what she really saw earlier.
"It's what I heard that's interesting. You know, the girls with the necklace, they were talking about you." The Witch informs him, leaning against the counter.
"Yet you didn't tell Klaus. Why?" The Vampire inquires, growing suspicious of the old Witch, knowing why Lorilei wasn't too happy about going to her now.
"'Cause I wouldn't help that Hybrid half-breed and Siphon Atrocity with anything. The necklace is a talisman from the Original Witch herself. I want it." Gloria informs him, smirking.
"Well, I'm sorry. I can't help you." Stefan tells her, wanting to protect his friends and family back in Mystic Falls, not just Elena.
"Don't be difficult." She warns him. "You know, I'd hate to have to tell Klaus what a liar his sidekick is." He rushes toward her, but the old Witch turns her head, looking at him and giving him an aneurysm. "Guess I've got to get it out of you the hard way, huh?" She smirks, watching him fall onto the floor.
Stefan wakes in the bar and finds himself shirtless, lying on a table with candles everywhere and Gloria holding a knife as she stands above him. "What is this?" Stefan asks, trying to move, but for some reason, he can't. "Why can't I move?"
"Relax," Gloria assures him. "It's just a little paralysis spell. Nothing major," She cuts his forearms with the knife, letting the blood drop into bowls on the floor to collect it and not make a mess on the floor. "Just got to get the information out of your pretty little head. You know, Witches nowadays, they're into that new age stuff, even little Lorilei now and then, but… I'm a little more old-school voodoo." She takes little iron hooks off the table and puts them into pliers. "This will stop that pesky healing." Gloria harshly places them into Stefan's forearm wounds, making him scream in pain.
"I won't tell you anything," Stefan huffs, trying to catch his breath from the intense screaming.
"You don't have to," She tells him, watching the blood fall into the bowls with some smoke coming from it. "You feel that? That's your essence. Your spirit. It lets me make a connection. Herbs help, too. Diviners, sage, Witch hazel." She pours the concoction of herbs into her hand. "But my personal favourite…" She rubs her hands together. "Vervain." The old Witch puts her hands on his chest, making Stefan scream.
Alexis nudges her twin in the rib as they stand in the Lockwood's study for the secret Council Meeting with the other Founding Family Members late into the evening as it comes to an end. "There have been no incidence of question since spring. It's been quiet." Liz finishes her report.
"Anyone else have anything to add to the minutes?" Carol asks, looking around the room. "Damon?"
"Ah, no, I think the Sheriff covered it, Mayor Lockwood. Looks like we've made it through the worst." Damon replies, glancing at the twins, still wondering why they are at the meeting.
"Well, I have nothing new to add, so thank you all for coming," She tells them, letting the others leave the room, though Carol, Damon and Liz stay behind to talk, going over to the table with drinks and Bill enters the room behind them, passing the McKnight twins as they step out of the room.
"I have a question," Bill announces, making them look at the man. "Do you three think that everybody on the Council is clueless… Or just stupid?" They look at him in surprise, wondering what he's doing after Damon supposedly compelled him to leave town.
Bonnie and Jeremy sit in his new bedroom at the McKnight house with candles lying around and looking over the grimoires she brought. "Okay, tell me if you see anything in these grimoires that involves precious metals or a symbol that resembles a necklace," Bonnie tells him, glad to spend time with him before school starts.
"Well, can't you just ask all the dead Witches you were channelling?" Jeremy questions, looking at her as he sits on his bed, reading one of the books.
"I don't have access to them anymore. They cut me off," The young Witch announces, making her boyfriend look at her in shock.
"Since when?" He asks her, jumping to his feet and moving toward her.
"Since I brought you back to life," The Bennett Witch informs him. "I messed with the balance of nature, and there were consequences." She looks at him, seeing the sadness in his eyes. "Hey. I'm sorry. I know I should have told you. I told Elena when it happened. I just didn't want you to feel weird about it, you know?"
"Hey, no, no, look, you don't have to apologise for anything. Okay? You didn't do anything wrong." The young Gilbert boy assures her, though deep down, he feels even more guilty.
"Elena said you've been having kind of a hard time since then," Bonnie remarks, making him groan.
"Like she'd know anything," Jeremy tells her. "I'm fine. You know, just been, ah, a little out of it lately. So, should I concentrate on the older books? Or, uh, I mean, how old is this necklace?"
"Old," She replies with a laugh, and he sits down, opens a grimoire, takes out the necklace and looks at it when Anna appears behind Bonnie.
"Jeremy. The darkness. It's here," Anna announces, and the next thing, the grimoires suddenly all catch fire, to their surprise.
"Jeremy!" The Witch shouts, waving her hand, removing the grimoire from his lap with her magic and exclaims a spell, putting out the flames. "Are you okay?"
"What the hell just happened?" Jeremy wonders, looking at his girlfriend in horror and wondering what Anna meant.
"I have no idea," Bonnie replies, frowning, and Jeremy guesses he needs to talk to Alexis about this.
Stefan lies on the table as Gloria pours more herbs into her hand before rubbing her hands together. "I'm impressed. You've got discipline, Stefan. It's not going to do you much good, but… Just let go, honey." She tells him, placing her hand back on his chest, burning Stefan's chest and making him scream again. "There you go, there you go." She sees images of him and Elena together. "There's the girl with the necklace. You love her. You'd do anything for her. And you have. A lot of darkness, a lot of guilt. All to keep her away from Klaus. Why would he be interested in one girl?"
"Don't do this," Stefan begs her. "Don't do this." She places her hands on his chest again and sees the sacrifice and Klaus killing Elena.
"She's the Doppelganger. She's supposed to be dead, and that's why Klaus can't make Hybrids, isn't it?" Gloria questions, laughing.
"God. This is exactly what I was hoping wouldn't happen." Lorilei groans from behind the old Witch, making Gloria turn around to see the Siphon, who plunges a knife into her neck, killing the old Witch and watching her fall. "I've wanted to do that for years." She moves toward the tied-up Vampire. "How are you doing there?"
"Not funny, McKnight," Stefan groans, and she grabs the knife, cutting the bindings around his wrists.
"I thought it was funny," She grins and clicks her fingers, extinguishing the candles, letting the Ripper recover a little. "So, she found out about Little Dopplebitch?"
"I wish you wouldn't call her that," He mutters, sitting on the table.
"I'll leave you to clean this up on your own then, shall I?" The Siphon teases him, making the Vampire glare jokingly at her.
"I thought us monsters stuck together?" The Ripper jokes, smiling and jumping off the table.
"Yeah, we do. But I think it's time we came clean with Klaus," Lorilei tells him, growing serious. "He's going to find out sooner or later, Stefan."
"I know." Stefan sighs, rubbing at his forehead. "I know. But I thought we'd have more time before we had to tell him we've been lying all summer, and you'd found a way around Elena being alive." He grabs a sheet from one of the booths and places it next to Gloria's dead body.
"I know. Trust me, I know. But I think if we get the necklace, I could use a spell to confirm my theory." She informs him, making him look at her as he puts the dead body into the sheet.
"And what theory is that?" He questions, looking at her.
"Well, when I was living with Elijah, he had this old grimoire that belonged to the Original Witch. If I can get to his apartment. I try to find the spell I need, which would be the original spell for Klaus." The McKnight Siphon explains. "I think the silly little Doppelganger isn't supposed to be dead. I think she's a key part of why the Hybrids aren't working, but I need to find that spell book."
"And how do you plan to ask Klaus to go back to New York again? After coming clean about lying all summer." The Vampire wonders, cleaning up the candles with the woman and ensuring the bar is spotless.
"I haven't entirely thought this through. But let's be honest. Have you ever thought most of your life through to the point of excess?" Lorilei inquires, and he shakes his head. "Exactly. We need to come clean and deal with the consequences of Klaus losing his mind, possibly beating you to a bloody pulp and breaking up with me. Then we tell him my idea if he declines in his most impolite way. We run for it."
"I like the 'we run for it' part. I think the interesting part was him breaking up with you." Stefan jokes, teasing the brunette woman, who shakes her head at him.
"Shut up." She replies simply.
"I think it's sweet," He teases her.
"I said shut up," The brunette warns him lightly.
"I think it's really sweet that you're worried he's going to break up with you." The undead man jokes, placing the candles away behind the bar with her, and she grabs a glass of bourbon.
"Drop dead, unholy idiot," Lorilei grumbles, gulping down the strong alcoholic beverage. "Why do I put up with you?"
"You seem to like me; I don't know why either." Stefan laughs, putting the table away into the cupboard and leaving the dead body in the centre of the room.
"Yeah, I'm second-guessing myself too." She laughs and moves into the centre of the room to the body. "I never liked her. I met her a few years ago. She called me an abomination to my face, and I siphoned from her, too. She was horrible and stuck up."
"Yeah, I get that. Ready to hide your first dead body?" He asks her, lifting the covered body onto his shoulder and leaving with the Siphon behind him.
"Who said this was the first dead body I've had to hide?" The young woman jokes, but the Vampire sees in her eyes that Lorilei is not lying.
Jeremy stands in the shared bathroom as he washes his hands, thinking about what happened with the grimoires. "Hey, Jeremy. There's ashes everywhere," Bonnie tells him.
"I'll go grab the vacuum," Jeremy tells her.
"No, I got it; where is it?" She asks.
"The laundry room, it's through the kitchen at the back door." He tells her, and she nods before leaving; then, suddenly, Anna appears.
"Are you okay?" Anna asks him, growing worried for him.
"Don't," The young Gilbert boy warns her.
"What?" She questions, frowning.
"Bonnie's here, okay? You've got to stop," Jeremy tells her, needing her to leave.
"I was just trying to warn you. I felt something bad. Dangerous," The ghost girl explains, needing to be with him.
"You… You just can't pop up every time she and I are together," The young teen suggests, finding the whole situation confusing and weird.
"It's a two-way street, Jeremy. I only pop up when you're thinking about me. That's why you haven't told her. Isn't it? You don't want her to know you still care," Anna reminds him, making him feel a little more guilty.
"I can't do this right now. I can't. This is just too much," The human boy shakes his head in disbelief at what's going on in his life.
"I'm sorry." She apologises. "I shouldn't have said that."
"Goodbye, Anna," Jeremy says, breaking her undead heart.
"Don't! Jeremy, please. Don't shut me out," The dead Vampire begs him, not wanting to be alone again. Her voice becomes less clear as he closes his eyes, wishing her away, and Anna is completely gone when he reopens his eyes. Jeremy goes into his bedroom, sees Bonnie is back with the vacuum, and finishes hovering the ash on the floor.
"What's wrong?" Bonnie asks, seeing the look on his face.
"You asked me before if something was wrong, and I said no," Jeremy reveals, some guilt washing away.
"Yeah," She replies, frowning as she grows worried.
"That was a lie," He tells her. "I was lying to you. When you brought me back to life…" Anna stands in the bathroom, looking at them, crying as her voice fades away.
"Say you can hear me, Jeremy. Please!" Anna pleads with him.
"Something happened…" The human guiltily tells her, seeing the worry grow on Bonnie's face.
"I am all alone!" She cries.
Stefan looks at the coffins and stops in front of one, having left Lorilei before heading back to the warehouse so it doesn't look suspicious. He touches Elijah's coffin when Rebekah enters, and he removes his hand in surprise. "You're back," Rebekah comments, looking at him. "Finally. Nik went to check on the Witch and pick up Lorilei from the hotel." She looks at the coffins with her family inside. "Dreary, isn't it? The family cargo."
"Hmm. Why don't you undagger them?" Stefan wonders, looking at the room of coffins.
"Because he would hunt me down and kill me. He's a vindictive little bastard, my Brother," She reminds him, smiling softly.
"But you still care about him. Why?" He asks her, sitting beside her on the coffin lid, feeling awkward.
"Well, I hated him for a long time. It was exhausting," The blond Original muses, thinking of her long past with her brothers.
"You know, when I met you two, you were both on the run," The young Vampire comments, wanting to know why they left him behind.
"Also exhausting," Rebekah smiles.
"Who were you running from?" Stefan asks her, wondering who would scare two Originals.
"What do you mean?" She questions, the smile falling from her face.
"Last night I saw you, there was a man looking for you. You both seemed afraid. I just… I wouldn't think Klaus would be afraid of anybody." He reminds her.
"No one in this world is truly fearless, Stefan. Not even Niklaus," The Original Vampire assures him, growing scared of his train of thought.
"Who was that man?" The Ripper asks her.
"I can't. Please," Rebekah warns him, jumping to her feet. "If Nik knew we were talking about this, he would…"
"No, no, no, I'm sorry," Stefan assures her, getting up, trying to calm her down. "Just forget I asked. Okay?"
"He told me about the girl you loved." She changes the conversation. "The one that died. He also told me that you're only with him because he saved your Brother."
"It's somewhat true." He answers, surprising her a little.
"I think he secretly admires that about you. You'd sacrifice anything for family. Don't tell him I told you that." The blond Vampire jokes, making him chuckle.
"Your secret… Is safe with me," The Ripper assures her, smiling, and she kisses him lightly on the lips.
"Do you think you'll ever love anyone like you loved that girl?" Rebekah asks him, hoping for a future with him.
"One day, maybe," Stefan tells her the truth.
"I can always tell when you're lying, Stefan," She warns him.
"What? I'm not…" He tries to tell her.
"Don't bother. Your kiss already gave you away," The Original Vampire says when Klaus enters the room with Lorilei.
"Gloria's gone." Klaus announces, making Stefan and Lorilei share a secret glance. "She's cleared out. We need to find a new Witch immediately." He stops and looks at them. "What's going on?"
"Something's wrong. He was asking about Mikael. He's not with us, Nik. I can sense it," Rebekah announces.
"She's wrong. Klaus…" Stefan tries to tell him, but the Hybrid rushes over to him, but before he can do anything, a shot rings out.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Lorilei warns the Originals, who turn to see the Siphon holding a gun.
"What are you doing?" Klaus shouts at his girlfriend, and Stefan runs behind her, seeing that it's the safest place to be.
"I'm defending my friend and myself." She replies. "I have an idea why the Hybrids aren't working."
"And that would be?" He demands, glaring at her.
"The Doppelganger is alive." The Siphon reveals, making the Original Hybrid growl and go to move towards her, but she pulls the trigger, shooting him in the leg. "I helped. Because of Elijah. But I need to confirm my theory by looking at the grimoire owned by the Original Witch."
"And what theory would that be, love?" The Original Hybrid growls, feeling absolute betrayal from her and Stefan.
"She's the key to why they're not working, and not because she's alive." Lorilei confesses, making him frown.
"What?" Rebekah questions.
"You and Elijah told me about the curse. I never thought about it. But what if she wanted you to kill the Doppelganger for a completely different reason." She reasons. "I lied because I wanted to find another way for them to work. Stefan at first did it for the mega moronic bitch, but he sided with me on this."
"I did," Stefan promises his long-time friend.
"Let us prove it." The McKnight woman suggests.
"How is that?" Rebekah asks, growing fond of the bold woman.
"We go to New York, get the book and head to Mystic Falls. Play a little horrific prank on the Doppelganger, maybe while testing out my theory." Lorilei replies, looking at Klaus. "It's up to you. If you really want this to work. I am sorry for lying to you." She slowly walks towards him and lowers her gun; when she does, he rushes at her, wrapping his hands around her neck but doesn't squeeze. "I am sorry."
"You ever do something like that again. I'll never forgive you." Klaus warns her, whispering into her ear, sending shivers down her spine.
"I am sorry." She repeats, looking into his eyes, and he lowers his hands, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I am sorry."
The next day, Elena and Caroline walk through the town square as they talk about the night before at the Founder party. "I'm not going to say I told you so," Caroline tells her, trying to somewhat assure her friend.
"Thank you," Elena sighs, rolling her eyes a little.
"But I did tell you," She replies, smiling.
"Okay, you and Damon were both right. I was trying to change him. But if he wants to be in my life…" The Doppelganger argues.
"Wait. I… It's been a long week, so I'm just going to be blunt," The blond Vampire tells her. "It doesn't matter what he does; Damon's gotten under your skin."
"That's not true," Elena shakes her head, denying it yet again.
"God, just admit it, Elena, okay?" Caroline huffs, growing annoyed. "You are attracted to him! In all of his bad Brother glory."
"No," She repeats.
"Wait, not, you're not attracted to him, or no, you just won't admit it?" The bubbly blond questions, looking at her friend.
"I can't, Caroline!" The gloomy brunette replies, raising her voice a little. "If I admit it, If I even thought it, for a second… What does that say about me?"
"It says you're human, Elena," Caroline assures her, but her smile drops when she spots her Father walking past, and Elena looks back to see him, too.
"Do you need me to…?" Elena wonders, gesturing to her friend's Dad.
"No, I got it," She tells her friend before storming over to her Father, trying to pluck up the courage to talk to him. "Hey." She calls out to him, making Bill stop.
"Hey, don't worry, I'm going to go back home before somebody kills me," Bill assures her, though she is disappointed he is leaving, even after everything.
"How's your…" The Vampire Daughter asks, pointing to her neck.
"Oh, healed," He tells her, showing his neck. "Thank you. For coming to my rescue."
"You're welcome," Caroline replies, smiling softly, thinking they can return to their usual Father-Daughter connection.
"Bye, Caroline," The Father says, heading off again.
"Daddy. I'm going to be okay," She tries to assure him.
"You're a Vampire, Sweetheart," Bill reminds her, standing before her. "I don't think you'll ever be okay again."
Alaric sits in the Lockwood family room with Carol and Liz after waking up from Damon having killed him the previous night and growing tired of sticking with the snarky Vampire. "I understand where you're coming from, but…." Liz tries to argue, not sure what would become of her Daughter.
"The Gilbert Family is a Founding Family, and they deserve to have a voice on the Council. With John no longer in town, I'm taking care of Elena. I should be that voice." Alaric argues strongly.
"That's not the way it works, Mr Saltzman," Carol reminds him, standing before him, thinking of asking Jeremy instead of a stranger.
"Oh, really?" He scoffs. "Well, then tell me how it does. The Council's job is to protect the people of this town. Now your Daughter's a Vampire," He looks at Liz, sitting on the couch before him, "and your Son's a Werewolf." He looks at the Mayor, standing with her arms crossed at him. "So, who's looking after the actual people? Some of them may be family or friends, but they are still Supernatural. They don't follow our rules or our laws, they look after themselves, and that's what we need to do. I'll see you at the next meeting." With that said, he gets up and leaves the women to think.
Lorilei stands by the door of the hotel room she shares with Klaus as she watches him pack their things without a word in a hurry, wanting to get to New York as soon as possible, though it will take a while, and she knows he's still angry with her and Stefan for lying to him all summer." "I am sorry."
"You've said that enough times." Klaus grumbles, throwing her bag at her feet.
"I am sorry." She moves towards him and places her hands on his shoulders, making him stop. "I am sorry." She wraps her arms around him, kissing him on the side of the neck, not seeing the smile when he realises what she's trying to say through those words.
The following day, Katherine arrives in Mystic Falls, goes to the Mystic Grill to find Bonnie, and sits across from her at the table outside. "Hey, there," Katherine greets the young Witch, playing as Elena.
"Hey," Bonnie smiles, not sensing the Vampire acting as her friend.
"I just saw Jeremy. He said that you still have my necklace?" She questions, lying through her teeth,
"Yeah, I haven't figured out what's going on with it yet," The Bennett Witch tells her.
"I know," The old Vampire Doppelganger replies. "But I just… I feel weird without it. The whole Stefan of it all."
"Okay," Bonnie says, handing over the necklace. "Did Jeremy also tell you that he's been seeing ghosts of his dead girlfriends this summer?"
"What?" Katherine questions in surprise.
"Vicki and Anna. He's been talking to them," She informs her, frowning. "But he told Alexis for some reason."
"You're kidding," The Vampire scoffs, thinking how she can use that to her advantage.
"I wish. It's because I brought him back to life. The Witches said there would be consequences. Guess they were right." The young Witch grumbles and turns to see Alexis walk over, filling up her drink before leaving. "You know, what am I supposed to…" She looks back to see her friend has disappeared and looks around, realising it must have been Katherine all along.
The Supernaturals and the rest of the Pack arrive in New York, having headed straight for Mystic Falls to the new home with the others in preparation for their return after they've got what they need from Elijah's apartment. "This is where Eljiah lived?" Rebekah questions, looking at the apartment building.
"Yep. Grew up in that apartment for a few years till I left for Colombia." Lorilei replies, trying to escape the awkward silence. They enter the building, passing the doorman, who greets the woman.
"Morning, Miss Lorilei." The doorman greets her with a wave.
"Morning, Steve. Just need to grab something for Lijah before I head back to class." She lies and heads for the lifts, pressing the 5th-floor button.
Damon hears someone knock at the door and opens it to see Katherine, still dressed as Elena in disguise. "I'll accept written apologies only," Damon informs her, sulking a little, leaning against the door, making the older Vampire smirk, lifting her disguise as she places her hand on her hip.
"Are you two lovebirds fighting already?" Katherine asks him, teasing him.
"Katherine. Wonderful. What do you want?" He demands, his mood going sour.
"I'm just a girl, looking for a partner in crime. Feel like hitting the road? Getting the hell out of dodge?" She tells him, smirking.
"Impeccable timing. I was told I need to take a beat," The older Salvatore Brother replies, looking at his ex-lover.
"Is that a yes? I'll drive," The Vampire Doppelganger suggests, smiling.
"Why not? Walls are starting to close in on me around here. Where are we going?" Damon asks her.
"Away from here. That's all I'm going to give you for right now. But believe me… It's good." Katherine informs him, showing him Elena's necklace.
"This is Elijah's apartment?" Rebekah gasps as she looks around the gorgeous apartment.
"Yep. The book is either in his study or my old room." Lorilei informs them, moving down the hallway with Klaus, and opens the door to see her old bedroom.
"This is your old room?" Klaus questions, looking around at the pink princess-style room.
"Yes. It was my first ever room. I lived in the basement at my old house in Mystic Falls," She reveals, to his surprise.
"In the basement?" He repeats and watches her move around the room.
"We found it!" They hear Rebekah shout before the Original Hybrid can say anything else. She runs off to the study to see Stefan holding the book, and she snatches it off him.
"In the basement?" The older Original repeats again, making Lorilei snap her head at him.
"I'm a Siphon. Most closed-minded Witches don't very much like me and my kind. Why do you think I killed my parents? It wasn't because I felt like it. I was abused my whole life by them and my Coven." Lorilei replies, looking through the book. "I found the spell. Let's go."
The group finally make it back to Mystic Falls a day later, and Klaus pulls up the car on the side of the road. "I really hate this small town," Lorilei grumbles, looking at the people walking past them.
"Couldn't agree more," Stefan replies. "What are we going to do, exactly?"
"Well, I've read through the grimoire, and I need someone to test my theory on. Like that Lockwood boy." She tells him and sees the guilt in his eyes.
"How sure are you about your theory?" Klaus asks her and looks at the Originals.
"89% at best," The McKnight woman answers and opens the spell book, giving it to him in the front seat, sitting behind him in the car.
"Then I guess we need to prove your theory, Lorilei," Rebekah agrees.
"Welcome back to Mystic Falls, everyone." Klaus declares, opening the car door and stepping out.
"So dramatic," Lorilei mutters, making Rebekah and Stefan chuckle as they join the Original Hybrid on the street.
