" I must say that was delicious mother". Pubert said as he very stiffly went to stand up from his chair.

He was wearing a white shiffon shirt with red cuffs and leather pants which made him appear like a Spanish swashbuckler.

" Oh before you go, Lucretia would like to have a word with you".

"Oh does she? How absolutely splendid! How would you like to take a walk by moon light? Moonlit walks are my specialty."

Morticia looked at Lucretia with a soft expectancy in her smile.

"Um yes I'd like that".

Lucretia said rather flatly.

Pubert escorted Lucretia by her arm by the densely foggy graveyard out back.

"It's such a lovely night. The moonlight seems to illuminate your face like a phantom. May I be so bold to say that You look like lady death incarnate my darling".

" Yes that's really nice,thank you..um

I'm not sure that I belong here, I mean it was really kind of you and your mother to let me into your home but I'm not one of you, I'm not one of them either. You know the people out there. I'm not sure I belong anywhere.

I don't know if this makes sense or maybe it's just selfishness but I want to be free. I want to roam I want to wander, I want to live in the shadows, completely invisible and soak up all the wonders of life. Why did I say that? Wow! Where did I get that I wonder? It must have been from a book I read."

" You are restless. You wish to explore the many realms of darkness. We can explore those together you know. I have to be honest with you,I am rather fond of you, I like you. Oh who am I kidding? You have captivated my heart. The moment I saw you laying their in my arms lifelessly, the blood on your pale skin like fire on snow, You looked like you were inches away from death itself, you were the very image of strength, You looked like you were frozen but your body was like an ember straight out of the fire.

Your eyes like black coals, cruel as a demon, melancholy as a death scene, you play the tragic strings of violins within my heart.

I can't wash the image of you from my mind, you have burned your face within my brain and now I wear you as a scar on my heart."

" I heard that you were captivated by me, but I didn't know that you were that captivated by me. Okay, this is really awkward and it's kind of uncomfortable but your mother thinks I would be well suited to become your wife but it's not for the reasons that you think it it would be for. You see that vampire he sort of spelled me and she said the only way to break that spell would be if I were to fall in love with someone else but the thing is I I don't know you well enough to really be in love with you. I mean we live in a progressive society, progressive world where women don't just wander out into the night in a trance; women can fight it. women can choose whether or not they want to be in love."

" Yes I'm a firm believer in free will and free choice So yes you should be able to choose. you should have the right to decide who you are to fall in love with."

" Yes exactly and that vampire he wanted to marry me but he didn't give me a choice. he didn't give me time to decide whether or not I wanted to be his wife. He just dragged me off the streets and expected me to say yes to him. I never said yes to him and then he bit me. Normally I wouldn't mind but it's the way that he did it. I just felt so powerless, I could just feel my life leaving me but I could feel my will leaving me as well. It was a terrible feeling and as endearing and charming as he might be I don't want to marry someone against my will because that's a real turn off for me ;that's not attractive to me. I'm really not sure if marrying you is going to solve any of my problems. I mean you can't rush love, So I'm just going to have to let it happen but what if nothing ever happens?".

"It will, give it time. understand no one is forcing you to do any of this. You can say no, You have every right and if you so wish you may leave but if you leave you will be leaving with my heart".

"Now that's putting a lot of pressure on me."

"I accept you, I accept you as my wife, will you accept me as your husband?"

Pubert clasped on to her hand.

" Enough with the pressure. I don't want to be pressured. If You pressure me I'll leave."

"There is no pressure I will gladly give you my heart You can take it wherever you go."

" Oh since you put it that way I suppose my answer is yes. I will be your wife but you have to promise me that you'll take it slow. you know be easy on me. I'm not the romantic type."

"Of course patience is a virtue which is something I just so happen to have alot of. Let us go back to the house and tell mother the news. "

Morticia as usual looked like a Tragic Madonna in A Victorian painting sitting perfectly erect while waiting in the drawing room with a cup of tea a few inches from her lips.

"How was the walk?"

Morticia sounded as if she were speaking of a rose garden which is how she sounded most days

"It went wonderfully. I am now engaged mother."

"Oh that is very wonderful. She agreed. I knew she would and what are your plans for the wedding?"

"What's this about a wedding?"

There appeared a man with a dark blue pinstriped suit, tan skin, a debonair mustache and a smile that seemed to be absolutely inevitable. He was a muscular man despite only being 5"8 and he had a shocking resemblance to Pubert.

He had warm voice that reminded Lucretia of a fire you could rush to after a harsh blizzard.

"I am getting married to this lovely lady Lucretia, Father."

"So soon? I like your thinking Son, just jump right into it head First, that's the way to do it. She is indeed lovely. Where did you find such a gorgeous creature?"

"Oh in the clutches of a vampire on the outskirts of the city."

"Did he bite her?"

"Now Gomez you mustn't ask such a thing. It's personal. I'm sure she'd like to reserve a little mystery for herself."

Morticia chided her husband.

"No it's alright. There's no shame in this house afterall, yes he did but then Pubert rescused me. So I'm alright now."

"Glad to hear it. So The wedding is when?"

Gomez rubbed his hands together in anticipation.

"It hasn't been decided yet Father."

"No I've decided. I'll be married straight away".

Lucretia hardly believed that those words were her own since they were so firm, sure and strong.

"Sorry I meant I would like to get married straight away if that alright with all of you".

"Well that is unexpected. Why the rush?" Pubert appeared unsure and puzzled by this.

"This woman of yours certainly knows how to take charge. I like that. Well I don't see why we can't take a crack at it say tommorow".

"So soon Gomez? We do need time to prepare."

"Who says we need to prepare?

There's no need to drag things out. We can have a small gathering, a sensible one, no extra frills, just some of those little ourderves you usually serve Tish. Remember you can always have more than one wedding. I mean remember all our anniversaries, all those honeymoons and all those times we said our vows again. They have eternity to celebrate their union probably even longer than that. Come now Tish What's the harm in having a quick one?"

"I suppose you do speak some sense Gomez. Very well we'll do the wedding tomorrow".
