Twenty thousand louds under the sea chapter 2
have been starting to accept the existence of an extremely powerful marine animal.
Lincoln: "The deepest parts of the ocean are totally unknown to us. No sounds have been able to reach them." H said in a sad voice.
Clyde: "What goes on in those distant depths? Who knows what kind of creatures inhabit, or could inhabit, those regions 12 or 15 miles beneath the surface of the water Lincoln, " he turns to Lincoln.
Lincoln: "Whoever wrote this article leaves me with no choice between two alternatives." He threw the paper away.
Clyde goes into Lincoln's study room. He had a very difficult decision to make. To end all this nonsense of a mythical narwhale, a phenomenon that surely no one has forgotten. While thinking really hard, the mail has just arrived at the door.
Rita picked up the mail and handed it to him saying it was from the American US army. He read to his disbelief that the US military wanted his help to hunt the monster.
Lincoln got Clyde over to see what it the note says. "Listen to this, The U.S. government is assembling an expedition in New York City to find and destroy the monster and they need my help."
Clyde inspected the note, "It also says it's from the Abraham Lincoln."
Note sir-
If you would like to join the expedition on the Abraham Lincoln, the government of the union will be pleased to regard you as France's representative in this undertaking. Commander Farragut has a cabin at your disposal. Very cordially yours,
-J.B. Hobson secretary of the navy.
Lincoln looked up towards his mom with a chance to study some marine life out on the open sea. Lincoln got his mother's attention kindly asked her.
Lincoln: "Mom could Clyde and I join the US navy for a few months to hunt down the gigantic beast terrifyingly the sailors out at sea for a few months?" He did happy look.
Rita read the note and was concerned on her son's safety, whether the monster existing was truth or false.
Rita: "I'm not even sure if J.B. Hobson could handle two kids on board this trip, what if you get hurt or fall out the boat?" she said with a scared face.
Lincoln: "Mom, you seen me being out to sea a few times for a whole month to study the blue whales. I got Clyde to be on my side as well. Don't you worry about our safety for a few months," he gave a thumbs up.
Rita had no choice but to let her son go on this trip for a few months to find what he was looking for. Lincoln got packing, from his clothes to books on recording any new findings out at sea.
Just when they were done packing when his mother stops and gives him a big hug.
Rita: "Just promise me you'll get back home safe sob my little baby is growing up so fast" she cried.
Lincoln embraced her hug and chuckled at how embarrassing it was in front of his friend.
The ship arrived a few hours later. Three seconds before the arrival of J.B. Hobson's letter, I no more dreamed of chasing the unicorn then of trying for the northwest. Seconds after reading this letter from honorable secretary of the navy.
Lincoln understood at last that his true vocation, his soul purpose in life was to hunt down this disturbing monster and record it, if it's exactly real or not. But at least he'll get to study some other marine life with his best friend Clyde on his side too.
J.B. Hobson heard donuts that the famous marine scientist was just a kid, but he thought it was just all a joke until now.
He kindly told them.
J.B. Hobson: "We are hunting this sea monster and destroying it before any more lives are lost out at sea. I know your just kids and this may sound very scary, but I assure you lads, this navy ship has the strongest metal know to man."
Clyde: "A total safe ship in use I say," with a happy look.
Lincoln: "Quite indeed, our time on the Aberham Lincoln will be very exciting. Now let's get to know some of the crew."
They both watch as the ship set seals out to sea waving goodbye to the people he knew at the town.
First thing Lincoln did was go on a tour around the ship. He found lots of canons, giant metal spears, food and beer. Also, the crew seemed to be enjoying and telling each other tales about killing the sea monster. That last part got them very excited.
He sees a teenage girl who got a white shirt with blue pants a blue strip in her hair, and a scar across her face. She is Sam sharp 15-year-old who is the best harpooner in the seven seas. Sam greeted the two boys who were going to help them fight this monster she been hearing about.
Sam held her harpoon in attack position. "This monster I been hearing about, just like that book I read called Moby dick! Hope I don't end up like that crazy captain. Ha ha ha!" she looked at them
Sam: "So the rumors are true? You're both are kid scientists? Sick dudes!"
Clyde: "Never read Moby dick before and yes we are just kids. Is J.B. Hobson a little scary?" he looked at J.B Hobson who was yelling at the mess his crew made.
Sam: "Nah, he's pretty chill guy unless you dirty up his ship. Names Sam sharp I am the best harpooner in the world, nicknamed whale slayer!"
Lincoln: "So are you really a Canadian whaler and master harpooner in the world?" he questioned her.
Sam: "The very same. Ah, in the meantime why not have some fun." she put her arm on Lincoln shoulder while walking, "We can tell each other stories or play goldfish and drink beer!" she said full of joy.
Lincoln: worried "Umm, kids don't drink beer Sam"
Clyde: To Sam "It's true."
Sam: "Darn! Oh well. At least we can tell each other stories about our life adventures. I'll tell you mine if you want to hear a tail on how I got this scar across my face!" She pointed at her face.
Lincoln: "Oh sure."
Clyde: "I'm in."
Sam sat on a wooden crate near the door outside talking about her time at Alaska. When she was hunting for small narwhals when a polar bear attacked her, and it got part of her face. She threw a harpoon at its chest. She was a hero at her town for slaughtering, a dangerous mindless animal. She did tell him about the times she would mostly go out hunting or want to join the navy after hearing of a gigantic monster on a loss.
Lincoln didn't leave any details about what he does at the museum. Apart from research on marine sea life, from birds, mammals to fish. He did have a few books he brought in his bags to read and kill time onboard the Lincoln ship.
He pulled out some books from his bag, "Not sure if you're interested in these titles. They're a good read to pass the time. Sam, Clyde are you with me?" He looked up at them.
Clyde: "Maybe later Lincoln, I want to hear more tales about Sam's hunting adventures."
Sam: "I'm glad you agree to. Back when I was just 13 there I was!" While Sam was teaching Clyde how to hunt animals, Lincoln couldn't help thinking that this trip would be worth it.
He continued reading Moby dick wondered if it's possible that a gigantic narwhal might exist. Why do people say it have a green glow on its head? Was it some kind of mating attraction call or possibly a way to communicate with its own kind? So many possibilities. A creature the size of a whale may just be found that might go into deeper waters.
Lincoln walked to the front of the ship, smelling the fresh salt air while sea gulls were flying above him looking for a place to eat.
Lincoln: "If the gigantic narwhal turns out to be true and if we catch the thing death or alive. We can bring back to the museum to study with my panthers help and Sam will tell the tale of the great hunt!" he looks across the endless sea.
Lucky the crew talked about the survivors, they were able to get back to land safely, along with the bonus of memorial funds for their lost loved one, their final report on the tragedy.
One guy: "Probable Cause: Frightened Sea Creature accidentally causes loss of any ship."
Lincoln: "At least there wasn't a Memorial. Everyone survived."
The guy looked at them and walked away. He turned his head to see that Sam was reading one of his books from his bag. Clyde shown her, maybe he felt a little sick from hearing all of those adventures of her gutting poor animals.
She was interested in the Mark Twain book called Huckleberry Finn.
Sam: "So you saying this kid huckleberry Finn goes on adventures and get into trouble? Ha! Classic."
He knows that there next few months on this ship would be fun for a few months. Not knowing a few miles away under water was a high-tech submarine looking like some kind of steampunk sun with a sharp tip to a green glow window.
The captain was looking out at sea. It reminded her of her tragic past. How she hated humanity on land and wanted revenge on all humans on boats.
She was letting her men in scuba's suits back into the submarine, when one of them came into the captain's room.
Men: "Miss, we seem to have another ship close by. What are your orders?" he asked her.
She walked towards the room, which turned out to be a very big library. Self-looking at all her rare copies of each book that she owned, staring at her book that day she lost her family she once loved.
?: "Get into attack mode! Let's see if they can handle my wrath for entering my home!"
