Of course sleep couldn't be that kind to him and he ended up running out of objects around the room to stare at. He thought about counting the stitches on the comforter at one point but didn't feel like going through the effort. Instead he ended up just staring at the night stand that sat up right against the bed for the rest of the time.
He was relieved when he heard Present Mic enter the room again but when the teacher asked if he was awake he found himself not answering or even moving. He ended up just awkwardly laying there until his teacher left, messing up his perfect chance to escape from staring at the shadows.
After about a minute of staying still he forced himself up. It would be too embarrassing to pass by the teachers after he had just ignored one of them but he had to leave the stuffy room before the shadows came to life and suffocated him.
That's when the window caught his attention, he could easily make his way out of it and onto the ground. He went over to check the window out and found that it was easy to open and remove the screen. Right as he started to fit his foot through the crack he thought better and went back over to the nightstand.
He pulled the drawer open and searched through it until he found a paper and pen. If he was going to leave without telling them the least he could do was leave a note so they wouldn't freak out.
I Woke up and have gone for a walk around campus, be back eventually. - Izuku Midoriya.
He figured that would be enough to satisfy them and placed it where it would easily be seen when someone eventually came in to check on him again. Once the note was set up he was finally able to leave through the window guilt free.
He was quick to make his way to a secluded clearing in the woods where he knew no one else would be. He had first found it while looking for a spot to secretly train with All Might, after that he would sometimes visit it when he needed to think or even do some homework in solitude.
When he reached his destination he plopped down against the tree and closed his eyes. He focused on taking deep breathes of fresh air and listening to the soothing sounds around him.
Once he calmed down he got back up and started to walk through the forest following whatever paths his heart desired.
If Midoriya had to guess he would say he had probably fist left the guest room anywhere between 30 minutes to 2 hours ago.
He was sure that by that point the teachers had noticed his absence and judging from the lack of him getting dragged back to the dorms they must have decided to let him have this.
Midoriya continued to just walk around avoiding thinking about anything adn everything when the sun started to set. It wasn't until a few minutes later that he noticed Aizawa-sensei standing still in a clearing a good distance away.
Midoriya thought his choices over before deciding that it would probably be easier if he went back to the dorms with his teacher than without.
With the help of his quirk it didn't take more then a few seconds to reach him.
Aizawa-sensei opened his mouth as if to start a discussion before stopping for a brief second. Midoriya used that second to his advantage, briefly nodding at his teacher before waking off towards the teachers dorm.
He wasn't surprised when a few seconds later a pair of footsteps started following him. Aizawa-sensei was clearly trying to speed up in order to walk next to him but Midoriya wasn't having it and would push himself a little bit ahead with his quirk each time.
It wasn't until they were about halfway to the dorms did his teacher finally have enough and honestly Midoriya was surprised he had gotten away with it for that long.
"Kid, I know you don't want to talk but you can't keep acting like that."
Aizawa-sensei stopped talking waiting for his reply but Midoriya wasn't going to give one, instead choosing to sprint ahead even further.
Midoriya started to keep his quirk flowing with a gentle hum to help gain speed but he was quickly stopped when his quirk faded away.
"Stop running off, that's not an option here."
Besides knowing that his teacher was right, Midoriya decided he didn't care and snapped around to face Aizawa.
"You don't get to stop me. Stop trying. Just leave me alone!" Midoriya said with the most spite filled voice he could manage.
Almost immediately Midoriya felt bad for snapping like he did and wanted to take back the words but something bubbling inside of him stopped him from doing so. Instead he stomped off towards the dorms not bothering to listen to his Sensei's attempts to calm him down.
When he reached the building he opted to enter through the bedroom window instead of the front door like he had planned to do.
He crawled into the bed and hid under the covers feeling like a little kid. Part of him wanted to move so that he wouldn't look like a five year old throwing a tantrum when a teacher walked in but a bigger part of him was too overwhelmed to care.
It took him a few minutes to realize he had started to silently cry again. It wasn't the big ugly sobs sort of crying, instead it was more of a gentle but sad kind of crying where the tears just rolled out.
Midoriya was so lost in thought that he didn't realize when the door opened and someone came in until he felt the weight of the bed shift.
"Hey, little listener. I know you're having a rough time but I wanted to see if you could try to eat something. You skipped lunch and soon it will be a little late for a normal dinner time. Can I get you anything?" Present Mic said, with his voice muffled from the comfortor.
Midoriya chose not to reply or even move for that matter in the same manner he had done a few hours earlier. He laid still breathing heavily as the tears continued to slip from his eyes. After everything he was feeling the opposite of hungry, in fact he wasn't sure if he ever wanted to eat again.
"Could you at least try to drink some water for me?" Present Mic's voice sighed out.
Midoriya ignored that plea too, besides his growing headache from all the crying. The headache was behond brutal at that point and almost caused Midoriya to change his mind about ignoring everthing but he managed to hold strong.
"Alright, little listener." Was said with a sigh as the bed lifted and Present Mic left the room.
It was several minutes later when Midoriya heard the sound of another person entering the room.
"Problem child... Listen I'm sorry about earlier, I should have been more gentle but what I said was true. I know you're in pain and don't want to deal with it right now but there is nothing else you can do. We're going to do our best to be patient with you and to work with you but you need to put in some of the effort too, okay."
The weight shifted on the bed closer to him this time.
"I don't mean that you can't be upset and be overwhelmed and cry. All I'm saying is we can't have you running off and avoiding everyone and anything. If you want some alone time that's fine. If you want to go outside that's fine but you have to let us know with more than a note saying you ran off." Aizawa said.
Midoriya thought over those words still choosing no to speak.
"We have to be able to keep you safe and we can't do that if you run off... and I do know you usually have more freedom than this on campus but we're being more restrictive because you're in an emotinal state right now. We want to be able to give you space to figure this out but we're not going to let you go through this alone kid."
Midoriya wasn't sure why but the last sentence caused the tears to bundle up as sobs racked his body. Without over thinking it he threw off the covers and tackled his teacher in a hug.
"I-I-I'm s-ss-sorry! I-I un-nderstand! I-I-I-I- do, I jus-t don-n't kn-ow- wha-t-t I-I'm-m-m supp-ossed to- do!" Midoriya said up against his teacher.
Midoriya felt the comforting arms of his teacher wrap around him as he cried. The arms started moving up and down, gently rubbing his back in a comforting pattern.
"It's alright kid. No need to to be sorry. I understand. I know you don't know what to do. We'll figure that out together, okay kid. Just focus on breathing, alright? Everything's going to be okay. I'll stay right here, okay, just rest for me."
Midoriya continued to cry into his teachers arms until he finally passed out from the exhaustion, with the comfort that his teacher was going to stay right there watching over him.
