Transformers War for Cybertron: An Old War.
Chapter 20: The Final Guardian.
The great Omega Supreme is now no longer nearly invulnerable. Megatron and his Decepticons must press their advantage and attack while Omega Supreme is defenseless if they have any hope of overcoming the Guardian of Iacon and forcing him to unlock the gateway to Cybertron's core.
Megatron, Soundwave, and Breakdown jump down to a platform where Omega Supreme's vehicle mode lays.
Breakdown asks, "You think he survived all of that?"
Megatron answers, "As long as there is enough left to open the Omega Gate, I care not."
Breakdown then says, "Uh, Lord Megatron, I don't think that's gonna be a problem."
He then points at Omega Supreme, who starts transforming to his robot mode and summons an Energon battery.
At the same time, Omega Supreme states, "Power cells: Drained. Initiate: Energy recovery sub-routine."
Soundwave then points out, "Sensors indicate that those batteries are the source of Omega Supreme's rejuvenation."
Omega Supreme spots the three Decepticons and states, "Scanning: Decepticon intruders. Weapons: engaging."
Breakdown exclaims, "Weapons engaging?! I thought we had beaten this guy!"
As Omega Supreme charges his tractor beam, Soundwave advises, "Danger! Avoid Omega Supreme's tractor beam! Seek cover before he fully charges it!"
The three Decepticons take cover before Omega Supreme can fully charge his tractor beam.
Breakdown then asks, "Our weapons aren't doing ANYTHING to him! What do we do, Soundwave?"
Soundwave answers, "Scans indicate that Omega Supreme's defensive barrier does not extend to his turrets. Recommend targeting them immediately."
After destroying Omega Supreme's first set of turrets, an Energon battery comes up out of the floor as Omega Supreme states, "Warning: vulnerability detected in select sub-systems."
Breakdown exclaims loud enough for his comrades to hear, but not for Omega Supreme to hear, "A battery full of Energon just came up out of the floor... Is that normal?"
Soundwave then points out, "Omega Supreme appears to be using the batteries to repair his turrets."
Megatron states, "Decepticons! We must move quickly! Use Dark Energon on the core battery!"
Breakdown infects the core battery with Dark Energon just as Omega Supreme uses his tractor beam on it.
As soon as the Dark Energon leaks onto Omega Supreme's armor, he says, "Detected: system corruption. Action: release counter-virus."
Breakdown exclaims, "Look at that! The corruption's HURTING him!"
Megatron remarks while saying his signature catchphrase for the first time, "Ah, the great Omega Supreme is vulnerable at last! Decepticons, ATTACK!"
Omega Supreme recovers immediately, but the Decepticons manage to do the same tactic of destroying his body's turrets to force another Energon battery to appear.
Omega Supreme says as the second Energon battery appears, "Armor: Weakened. Systems: Recalibrating. Situation: Sub-optimal."
Breakdown exclaims, "Hey, look! There's another battery!"
Megatron replies, "Well, what are you waiting for? Use the Dark Energon on it!"
Breakdown infects the second battery.
Omega Supreme uses his tractor beam to suck up the corrupted Dark Energon battery, and the Dark Energon starts to corrupt him.
Omega Supreme says, "Detected: System corruption. Action: release counter-virus."
Breakdown exclaims, "This is great! The Dark Energon is wearing down his armor for us to shoot him!"
Megatron shouts, "Now! While the Dark Energon has corrupted Omega Supreme – OPEN FIRE!"
It takes another assortment of shooting for the Decepticons to unleash all of their ammo on Omega Supreme before he fully purges the Dark Energon a second time.
But eventually, he topples over and gets to one knee in exhaustion, showing for the first time that Dark Energon – genuine or artificial – can easily make Autobots exhausted.
Megatron exclaims, "I, Megatron, have defeated Omega Supreme!"
Breakdown states, "Um, all hail Megatron!"
However, Omega Supreme gets his strength back as he states, "Systems: corrupted. Power level: 49%. Repairs: initiating."
Breakdown asks, "He's getting back up? What do we do now?"
Soundwave points out, "Megatron, be advised. Omega Supreme's internal shielding is exposed, but he still functions."
As Omega Supreme fires more rockets, Breakdown exclaims, "Watch out for those rockets!"
Soundwave then points out again, "Megatron, there is a barrier of armor plating protecting Omega Supreme's chest."
Breakdown then inquires, "How are we supposed to get through that armor plating?"
Megatron replies, "Stop whining and start shooting, Breakdown!"
Omega Supreme then states a bit smugly as he fires another giant volley of missiles, "Immediate surrender: required. Access to Cybertron's core: impossible."
Megatron observes Omega Supreme's increase in power and says in awe, "He's drawing energy from Cybertron's core! What amazing power! I must have it for myself!"
Breakdown then asks confusedly, "I thought you said his power was drained?! He's got even more now than he did to begin with!"
Megatron responds with, "It makes no difference! Not even Omega Supreme can stop me now!"
After extensively shooting through the cavity in Omega Supreme's chestplate, the Iacon Guardian states weakly, "Power: failing... Situation: critical..."
Soundwave then states, "Omega Supreme's internal shielding is down. Use the Dark Energon to corrupt him."
Megatron replies, "I know what to do, Soundwave! Be silent or face my wrath!"
Megatron then pours Dark Energon out of his hands into Omega Supreme's damaged chestplate with a roar of anger.
Omega Supreme topples over onto his back plate and says, "Systems: failing. Corruption: total."
Megatron then says loudly, "Yes... YES! The Autobots' most powerful weapon AND the Key to the core of Cybertron ARE MINE! The Universe shall hear my name and TREMBLE! (Echoes)"
Megatron then composes himself as he says, "Soundwave, extract the codes for the Omega Gate immediately."
Soundwave replies, "Yes, Lord Megatron."
Soundwave does his work and announces, "Megatron. It appears that Omega Supreme does not have the codes for the Omega Gate."
Megatron angrily shouts, "WHAT?! Then who has the codes?!"
Soundwave looks deeper and answers, "The one known as Dark Rook has the codes."
Megatron growls in response as he says, "Then we will find Dark Rook and force him to give up the codes. And I know just the way to do it. But first, all Decepticons! Prepare Omega Supreme for extraction to the Omega Gate! Have him thoroughly restrained and under strict Dark Energon feeding!"
(Thirty-second Autobot field headquarters, third person POV...)
Dark Rook was preparing for the moment Megatron arrives to force him to give up the codes to the Omega Gate.
Since Megatron is more than likely to take hostages, it's safe to say that Dark Rook came prepared for even this.
Even Optimus Prime approved of Dark Rook's plan, as long as he made it very convincing.
Once Megatron came into the room with a clone of Orange Peregrine as a hostage, Megatron sneered, "Dark Rook! Give me the codes for the Omega Gate, or else your surrogate brother will die."
Dark Rook hid his smirk behind a scowl as he snarled, "Go ahead, then. It's not like he will be missed."
This took Megatron, Breakdown and even Soundwave by surprise, for they didn't expect Dark Rook to not care about the death of a hostage.
Megatron asks in a stunned tone, "Do you really not care about your own brother?"
Dark Rook answered, "I'm sick and tired of my fellow Autobots showing hesitation and weakness in hostage situations!"
Megatron smirks as he says, "Then say goodbye to your brother!"
Megatron stabbed Sonicburst Prime's clone with his mace while Dark Rook put on his best poker face.
Megatron then stated smugly, "Now hand over the codes or your other friends and family unit will die."
Dark Rook casually teleported the three Decepticons to Kaon with the snap of his fingers and immediately went to work replacing the Dark Energon in the corrupters with normal Energon.
Of course, it was colored to resemble Dark Energon and the moment it's infused into Primus' spark, it'll make the Energon highlights on the core of Cybertron turn purple to fool the Decepticons.
The whole thing was untraceable by any and all means to those not affiliated with the Autobots. Not even the likes of Soundwave can detect the "Dark Energon."
But in order to pull this off, Dark Rook needed to give Megatron the codes to open the Omega Gate leading to Cybertron's core, which is what he did when he got the chance.
Dark Rook chortled to himself maniacally as he realized that he was gonna save Cybertron.
True, he may be disrupting the chronological order, but who was gonna stop him?
Soon, it was all systems go.
(Cybertron's core, third person POV...)
Megatron exclaims, "At last, the Core of Cybertron is mine!" He turns to Ironspan and asks, "Are the corrupters in place?"
Ironspan replies, "Yes, Lord Megatron."
Megatron shouts, "Then let it begin!"
The reprogrammed corrupters shoot beams of fake Dark Energon into the spark of Primus itself.
One of the beams strays and blasts part of the ceiling, the debris falling onto two Decepticon Soldiers.
Megatron calls out, "A glorious new age is upon us, my brethren! With Dark Energon infused into the core, Cybertron is MINE to command!"
In Corvowing's opinion, the weirdest thing was that Megatron fell for his prank hook, line and sinker.
However, one hour later, Dark Rook was informed by one of his Pretender spies that the fake Dark Energon which was supposed to be infused into Cybertron's core turned out to be real Dark Energon. Dark Rook's plan failed miserably!
Dark Rook got so angry that he transformed to his dragon mode and roared as loud as he could in his pure anger.
Suddenly, a Decepticon Seeker turns up and asks cheekily, "Enjoyed my prank?"
Dark Rook roars as he shouts, "SHUT THE F(bleep!) UP, YOU F(bleep!) MOTHERF(bleep!)"
Dark Rook grabs the Seeker in his jaws and does something none of the watching Autobots expected: Dark Rook actually ATE THE SEEKER IN HIS DRAGON MODE!
Even Optimus was so disgusted and so shocked that he still couldn't believe he actually saw it.
His future successor had suddenly turned into a cannibal in his dragon mode, all because his plan to save Cybertron went down the crapper.
Dark Rook looked to his left and saw even Red Magpie was horrified by what he'd done in retribution for his plan to save Cybertron's core failing.
Dark Rook growled softly as he switched back to robot mode.
Dark Rook then said, "Sorry, everyone. I'm just not happy that my plan to save Cybertron's core had failed. But I assure you, if I EVER get my claws on Megatron, I'll tear him apart, molecule by molecule. But now, we must make preparations to leave Cybertron."
Snapping out of his funk, Ratchet then asks him, "How?"
Dark Rook answers with holograms, "I was among the ones who commissioned the construction of the heavily armored and heavily armed spacecraft, the Ark, courtesy of Tailpunch."
Optimus then spoke up, "How soon can you, Tailpunch, and your teams get it finished?"
Dark Rook answers, "About two days, give or take, considering the amount of Autobot construction crews I've assigned to this task."
Ironhide came in running and said, "Dark Rook, the Decepticons have disconnected the Decagon from all communications with our ground and aerial forces."
Dark Rook then stated, "Optimus, Ratchet, you need to find the Autobot scout by the name of Bumblebee. He'll assist you in bringing the Decagon back online."
Optimus nodded and declared, "Autobots, prepare to roll out!"
The End.
(Author's notes: Here's a little teaser for you all: in the chapter To The Core, more than one Prime will be crowned with A Matrix of Leadership. But the question on everyone's lips is, how is there more than one Matrix of Leadership? Wait until you get to the chapter To The Core to find out.
In the meantime, see you all in chapter 21: Defend Iacon.)
