Katsuki didn't know how to handle this pain, in one day he just lost both his best friend and his aunt. The worst part? Nobody could find Izuku anywhere. Iida said that he left the dorms with a box and a lighter. From how Iida described the box Katsuki felt his heart sink.
Izuku was destroying all of the things Katsuki ever got him, fair, but what Izuku didn't know was that Katsuki kept everything the green haired boy gave him. Now there was no way to fix their friendship, but he's willing to do anything to try.
With only a gut feeling of where Izuku might be, Katsuki grabbed one gift he never gave Izuku he ran to Ground Beta. He was praying to any god out there that there was a way to fix their broken friendship. What was that thing where you fill in a broken bowl with gold? It didn't matter, but that was what Katsuki was going for to fix it.
Was it perfect? No. Would it have to do for now? Yes. Katsuki had finally made it to Ground Beta as he ran through the fake city calling out Izuku's name. He saw smoke on top of one of the buildings and he knew that's where Izuku was. Running to the roof of the building, he saw Izuku.

Izuku hadn't moved since burning the box, he hadn't even blinked yet. Then again, how could he? He wanted to watch the memories burn, right? Izuku always believed that there was good in everyone, even villains. His mindset since childhood was that good and evil aren't born, they're made.
Hearing the door swing open made him finally blink, looking up Izuku saw who caused him to get distracted. Bakugou? But that didn't make any sense, didn't Bakugou hate him? It didn't matter, after all Izuku had decided to finally leave behind his friendship with Bakugou.
Something was off though, Izuku for the life of him could not get a hold of his mom. He missed her worried voice always asking if he was being safe at UA, was it annoying? Sometimes. Overbearing? Never. Izuku loved his mom. She only wanted the best for her son, he was her baby boy after all.
"I-Izuku, we need to talk," Bakugou said as he bent forward to catch his breath. They had to talk? Why that made no sense to Izuku. What did they have to talk about?
"I've said all I needed to, Bakugou," Izuku said as he calmly stood up ready to leave the roof. Only for Bakugou to grab his hand. "Isn't this what you wanted? I'm finally leaving you alone, but I guess that's not enough for you."
"It's not about that Izuk-"
"You don't have any right to call me that, I finally figured out how I lost my best friend," Izuku said as he looked Bakugou dead in the eyes. Pulling his arm free Izuku turned full to look at Bakugou, "it was your quirk! After you got your quirk, all everyone did was praise you! 'Katsuki your quirk is perfect for hero work!' Or 'a perfect quirk for a perfect hero!'"
Bakugou looked shocked before he hardened his expression as he slowly reached out to Izuku, "half of those praises were from you, so you don't get to talk on that matter," he said as he managed to grab Izuku. "I get it, I let all the praise go to my damn head. It caused me to have a bad superiority complex, but I'm changing."
"Not for me," Izuku said as he looked Bakugou in the eyes, tears falling down his cheeks and a broken look in his eyes, "I'd admit. I was jealous of your friendship with Kirishima! I thought that if he was able to become you friend so easily," he took a deep breath before continuing, "then you were always capable of changing. Just I wasn't worth changing for."
With that final statement Izuku walked over to the edge of the building and jumped off. Black whip shooting out of his right hand and latching itself to a light post. He'd already texted Aizawa about him going home for the weekend. So that's where he was headed.

Katsuki just stood there, watching Izuku disappear in the distance. No, no no no! This wasn't how this was supposed to go! Shit! Katsuki realized that he never told Izuku about his mom's death. Collecting the remains of the box Katsuki left Ground Beta to take the box into his room.
Once he made it to his room he'd try to salvage anything left of the box, unfortunately there wasn't much left that could be saved. Expect for one.
A small rock that was in the shape of a half a heart. They found it together at a river they used to play at growing up. Izuku had one half and Katsuki had the other. Katsuki had his turned into a necklace. One that he was wearing right that very moment. He actually never took it off.
He wished things were different, sometimes he wondered what life would be like if Izuku was born with a quirk. He sees the two of them both being as close as ever, or rarely even closer. Blushing Katsuki put the rock next to his bed as he looked through the box some more.
The next item he pulled out had tears in his eyes, a spider lily? Katsuki never gave on to Izuku, but then he saw notes from their time at Aldera middle school. Reading through the notes almost made Katsuki want to puke. How bad was the bullying? Were people doing much worse to Izuku when Katsuki wasn't around?
The answer, yes. He remembers one day Izuku walking into class with a broken arm. Izuku being Izuku only said that he fell down the stairs at school. But the black eye said differently. It screamed 'I was just attacked.' Katsuki later found out that it was on of the lackeys that followed him around back then.

Izuku finally made it home, well it wasn't a home exactly. Apartment was more like it, but it was still home. Opening the door Izuku called out for his mom, only to receive no response instead. Walking in he noticed that all of the photos were gone, did she move? No, she would have told Izuku if she was moving. Continuing to look around it became more clear that something was wrong. Everything was gone, not just photos but everything.
Opening the door to her room he saw that it's like she just up and vanished, growing more worried Izuku decided to walk down to the front desk to ask about his mom. Surely they would have some information.
The man working at the front desk was a young looking guy; dark sun kissed skin, white hair with gold highlights forming a star shape in his hair, with his hair being pulled back into a bun as the star was front and center, dark orange eyes that looked stern but caring. If Izuku remembered right he had a bullet quirk, he could made tranquilizer bullets out of his saliva. A great quirk for hero work, but the man said that it wasn't for him.
"Oh hello Midoriya-kun," the man said while looking up as Izuku walked up to the desk. Setting down the file he was looking at he shifted his full attention to Izuku, "it's been a while since I seen you, what can I do for you?"
"Hello Jūdan-san, I was coming home to visit my mom when I noticed that our apartment was empty," Izuku said not missing how Jūdan's expression shifted from a gently smile to a solan frown, "d-did something happen? I didn't get any calls from her since a few days ago."
"Midoriya-kun, I'm so sorry. But your mom passed away only a few hours ago," Jūdan said sadly as he took off his reading glasses, "She passed because of a sudden heart complication. Bakugou-san was over here earlier to help with Inko's will and belongings."
Izuku felt his heart shatter, his mom gone? He couldn't believe it. He wasn't ready to be alone, now everyone he loved had either abandoned him or died. His mother was the only one left who kept him smiling, now she was gone. And so was his reason for smiling.
"T-thank you for telling me Jūdan-san, mom always regarded you as a dear friend to us, you were always fair with how we were charged with rent despite me being a late bloomer," Izuku said as his head fell, the beautiful green that shined in his eyes had faded to an almost sickly green.
Wiping away his tears he felt arms wrap around him as Jūdan hugged him gently. He knew that Jūdan wasn't a huge fan of physical affection, but Izuku was the only exception.
Izuku finally felt the damn break and tears fell freely from his empty eyes, hugging back tightly Izuku screamed in agony. Crying over what happened in the day, losing his best friend, and then immediately afterwards his mom. His only real friend.
Now Izuku was convinced that Uraraka and the others were only his friends because of his quirk. In his broken mind he couldn't see that wasn't true, so he let his mind create this false reality. If only to protect himself.

Izuku had returned to the dorms the next morning and hid up in his room. The others had tried to greet him but he'd ignored them. Izuku looked at his room and hated what he saw, his mom had gotten him all of his All Might merch.
With a sad smile Izuku had started talking down every piece of merchandise he owned. Izuku had decided to donate all of the figures to an orphanage and sell everything else. Careful setting the posters in a box and the figures in their own box, Izuku looked at his now empty room. This felt better, somehow this felt right. He set up a shrine for his mom next to his desk, he'd knew that she'd want to watch over him at all times.
After redecorating his dorms he laid down on his bed, he had replaced the All Might sheets with black ones. He opened up a small box that his mom gave him the day he moved into the dorms.
Pulling out a locket Inko gave to him, he put it on and held the locket close to his heart. Because inside was a photo of her. So she could be with him at all times. Finally allowing the situation to fully set in, Izuku found himself crying softly until he fell asleep.
