Disclaimer: I do not own Smallville or Justice League Unlimited. This is purely for fun.
Here is a Smallville/DCAU crossover fic that I've wanted to write for some time now. Since the 'Alternate Events' series is complete, I finally got around to starting on this one.
This story begins near the end of the Justice League Unlimited episode 'Divided We Fall', right after Flash defeats Luthor/Brainiac, while the Smallville segment of the story diverges into an AU, starting at the end of Season 6 episode 'Justice'.
Chapter 1
Earth-JLU
A huge explosion of bright blue light and smoke erupted as Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, J'onn J'onzz, and Shayera Hol stood together. The smoke cleared after a few moments, revealing a weakened and shaking Flash, who was surrounded by blue electricity, standing before his defeated opponent Lex Luthor, who was lying on the ground in a crater, completely naked as all traces of Brainiac had been removed from his body.
Flash looked down at himself worriedly before turning to his teammates. "I feel kinda... funny."
"Flash!" Wonder Woman called out as the speedster hero faded into nothingness, leaving the rest of the Justice League members speechless and horrified.
Luthor chuckled. "What do you know? I did kill him." He looked up at Superman, who was glaring furiously at Luthor. "I was mistaken earlier. I think this is the part where you kill me."
Superman grabbed Luthor by the throat and picked him up. As Luthor struggled to breathe in his grasp, Superman's eyes glowed bright red.
Wonder Woman made a move to intervene, not wanting Superman to make a fatal mistake, but Batman placed a hand in front of her, keeping Wonder Woman where she was.
As Superman's eyes returned to normal, he glared directly into Luthor's face. "I'm not the man who killed President Luthor," the Man of Steel snarled. "Right now, I wish to heaven that I were, but I'm not."
"Superman, everyone, Flash is still alive," J'onn announced. "I'm in telepathic contact with him. His spirit is weak and growing weaker, but he's still here."
Shayera held out her hand when a bluish-white portal suddenly appeared and she was almost immediately sucked into it.
"Shayera!" Green Lantern cried out in horror right before he was sucked into the portal too.
"Batman!" Superman, Wonder Woman, and J'onn shouted in horror as the Dark Knight, along was chunks of debris, was pulled into the portal as well.
Determined to save their friends, the three remaining Justice Leaguers flew into the portal in a trio of blurs before Luthor, who had gotten to his feet, was also sucked into the portal, which closed a moment afterwards.
As they fell through the seemingly endless void of energy, Superman caught Flash and Shayera with each hand, while Wonder Woman and J'onn grabbed Batman and Green Lantern respectively. The Justice Leaguers, as well as Luthor, who was some distance away from the heroes, continued falling through the void until everything suddenly went white, accompanied by what sounded like a deafening explosion.
Earth-SV
"Impulse, Cyborg... Aquaman, Green Arrow, what do you guys call your team?" Clark Kent asked. He was in the barn with his best friend, Chloe Sullivan, and fellow superheroes Bart Allen, Arthur 'A.C.' Curry, and Victor Stone.
"I don't know," Bart said in his usual energetic manner. "I've been thinking, you know, we need something cool. We need something like, uh... like, uh..."
"I was thinking about something with the word 'justice' in it," Oliver Queen announced as he walked up to the others. "After all, that's what Lex is gonna get a big dose of." He held up a small device with a green light. "Victor and A.C. were able to hack into the 33.1 mainframe before we blew the building."
"That was your other mission," Chloe realized.
"Haven't met the computer yet I couldn't crack wide open," Victor remarked.
"What'd you guys find out?" Clark asked.
"That Lex isn't satisfied playing in his own backyard anymore," A.C. answered.
"LuthorCorp is starting up divisions of 33.1 all across the globe," Oliver stated. "Wherever there's evidence of people with abilities, there'll be laboratories to do experiments on them."
"We can't let that happen," Clark stated, firmly.
"We won't," Oliver said, reassuringly.
Suddenly, Clark's super-hearing picked up what sounded like an explosion coming from outside.
"I just heard an explosion," Clark told the others in alarm. "I'm gonna go check it out."
"I'll come with you, amigo," Bart said, before he and Clark sped outside to the source of the noise.
In a second, Clark and Bart were already outside as they stopped the middle of the grassy field, where they spotted seven individuals on the ground.
"What the heck..." Bart trailed off as he and Clark stared in disbelief at what the individuals were wearing.
"I can never go that fast again," the red-suited man with golden boots and a lightning bolt symbol on his chest muttered with a groan.
"Where are we?" the beautiful dark-haired woman clad in a scanty Amazon-styled outfit asked.
"Definitely not in Metropolis," the bald black man in a green and black uniform noted.
"It looks like we might be in Smallville," the tall, handsome, board-shouldered, muscular man, clad in a mostly blue suit with a long red cape and 'S' symbol upon his chest, said as he and the others took in their surroundings.
"What's with the weird costumes?" Bart commented. "Last I checked, Halloween was in October, not January."
"Who are you people?" Clark asked, concerned for the strangers and wary of them at the same time. "Are all of you okay?"
"We're fine, son," the blue-suited man with the red cape and 'S' symbol said kindly as he stood to his feet, the others following suit. "We appreciate the concern."
"Whoa!" Bart exclaimed with wide eyes on noticing the alien-looking, green-skinned man with a blue cape and red X-shaped straps across his bare chest. "You're, uh… don't take the wrong way, but, uh... are you an alien from another planet?"
"I'm from the planet Mars," the green-skinned man stated, not bothered by the question.
"Seriously?!" Bart exclaimed in awe before letting out a chuckle. "Well, if people with special abilities exists, then I guess little green men from space wouldn't be that far behind."
"That symbol on your chest," Clark said to the blue-suited man. "What do you know about it?"
"This symbol is from my home planet Krypton," the man stated, taking Clark aback. "I wear it because it's meant to give people hope."
"You're from Krypton?" Clark asked in disbelief.
"Yes," the man nodded.
"You're really from another planet?" Bart chimed in eagerly as he regarded the blue-suited man curiously. "Your green-skinned alien friend being from Mars is one thing, but you... you don't any different from any of us Earthlings."
"The reason my friend and I came out here is because we heard a loud noise that sounded like an explosion," Clark told the strangers. "Any of you mind telling me what was that?"
"Nothing other than our usual Justice League business," the redhead woman with a pair of wings at her back and a metallic spiked mace in one hand stated.
"Justice League business?" Clark repeated in confusion. "What do you mean by that?"
"Are you kidding or are you for real?" the red-suited man with the lightning bolt symbol asked. "Everyone all over the world knows who were are! The Justice League's been around for years!"
"I've never heard of any 'Justice League' before," Clark said.
"Ditto, although that name does sound quite catchy," Bart remarked. "So what are you guys, some kind of team or something?" He turned to the dark-haired Amazonian woman, eyeing her from head to toe. "What do I call you, chica? I do like 'em tall and built like an Amazon, ya know. Walking around dressed like that, you're bound to give this cool stud sweet dreams at night."
"Bart," Clark scolded, glaring at the other teen.
"Geez, stretch, let a guy have his fun!" Bart said in annoyance. "Maybe you should try it sometimes too!"
"You're not her type, kid," the man garbed in a black and gray bat-themed suit said to the teen speedster in a stern tone.
"Shouldn't we be heading back to Metropolis right now for clean-up?" the redhead woman with the wings suggested.
"Clean-up? What happened in Metropolis?" Clark wondered. "In fact, what exactly is going on here?" He turned to the blue-suited man bearing the same symbol from Raya's crystal. "You said you were from Krypton. Who are you and how did you wind up here on Earth?"
"You really don't know who any of us are?" the dark-garbed man in the bat-themed suit asked.
"Can't say that I do," Clark replied. "Trust me, I'd definitely remember if I had seen any of you before."
"Same here," Bart added, before turning the dark-haired woman with the bracelets. "Especially you, gorgeous!"
"These guys must've been living under a rock if they seriously don't know who we are," the red-suited man said to his companions, before turning to Clark and Bart. "It's literally impossible to not know who Superman of all people is. Not to mention me, the Flash! Fastest man alive who can be in another city in two seconds, tops!"
Clark and Bart frowned as the latter asked, "Wait a minute, dude, are you saying you have super-speed or something?"
"Duh!" the red-suited man said, before he sped twenty feet away and returned to his spot within a second. "I'm not called the Flash for no reason. Although, if I run too fast like I did a few minutes ago, it could take a major toll on my body."
"So all of you are a group of individuals with special powers?" Clark asked, wondering who exactly these strangers and hoping they wouldn't turn out to be enemies, especially since one of them claimed to be Kryptonian while the green-skinned one in the group was apparently from Mars.
"That's one way of putting it," the bald black man in green and black confirmed. "Or you could've said 'superheroes' as most people do."
"If you two really haven't seen or heard of us before, I'm Superman," the blue-suited man introduced himself to Clark and Bart, who both frowned in amusement at the name. Superman gestured to the man in the bat-themed suit. "This is Batman." He then gestured to the dark-haired Amazonian woman. "This is Wonder Woman."
The red-suited man raised his hand. "As I said before, I'm Flash."
"Green Lantern," the bald black man in question introduced himself next.
"J'onn J'onzz," the green-skinned Martian did so as well.
"I used to be known as Hawkgirl, but it's just Shayera now," the redhead woman with the wings was the last person to introduce herself.
There was a very brief 'whoosh' as Bart suddenly appeared next to Shayera, fiddling with one of her wings. "These wings are actually part of your body?"
"Hands off!" Shayera snarled as she raised her mace.
"Whoa! Whoa!" Bart exclaimed, raising his hands in surrender. "Sorry, Hawk-lady. I was just curious, that's all."
"That kid just moved as fast as me!" Flash noted.
"I noticed that too," Superman nodded.
In the blink of an eye, a smirking Bart appeared behind Flash, tapping the red-suited speedster on the shoulder. "Surprise, surprise! I have super-speed too! I wonder which of us is faster."
"Knock it off, Bart," Clark said in the tone of a father scolding his child.
"So this kid runs as fast as Flash," Green Lantern noted.
"Maybe even faster," Bart remarked with a cocky grin.
"He don't just have Flash's speed," Wonder Woman pointed out.
"He also has the impulsiveness and child-like nature," Shayera added.
"Hey!" Flash protested.
"It's true and you know it," Shayera told the speedster with a teasing smirk.
"I did just single-handedly defeat the villain of the day," Flash pointed out. "It doesn't get more mature than that."
"Who are you two?" Batman asked Clark and Bart.
"Oh, I'm Bart," the younger teen replied. "Bart Allen." He turned at Clark. "This is my buddy Clark."
"Clark Kent," the older teen introduced himself, while Superman raised an eyebrow at that response before his eyes narrowed into a frown.
In the Suicide Slums neighborhood of Metropolis, a blinding white flash of light, accompanied by the sound of a loud explosion, erupted in an alleyway and a bald, naked, middle-aged man appeared out of thin air, landing face-first on the ground with a groan. As the light around him faded, the man let out another groan as he stood to his feet and took in his new surroundings.
"First, I need some clothes," Lex Luthor – from Earth-JLU – stated. "Then I'll have to lay low and avoid the Justice League while I figure out how to reconstitute Brainiac."
He glanced around the alleyway, searching for something to cover himself with. The last thing Luthor wanted was to bring unwanted attention to himself by walking around in his nude state, especially now that his reputation had been complete shattered and the whole world regarded him as a villain.
He spotted a balled up blanket next to a busted-up mattress near the trash dumpster roughly twenty feet away and went to get it. He grabbed the blanket and examined it. The mattress was quite dirty, but it was better than nothing for the time being.
After wrapping the blanket firmly around his body, especially making sure the area between his legs couldn't be seen by others, Luthor ran out of the alley, soon making his way onto the sidewalk of the nearest street.
