"Guardian… Guardian? Eyes up, Guardian." A feminine voice was calling out from the void, forcing the young boy to open his eyes. As the light flooded his vision he was forced to cover his eyes and protect his sight, groaning as he tried to prop himself up.

"It worked! You're alive! You don't know how long I've been looking for you. I'm a Ghost, you're Ghost and you… Well, you've been dead a long time. So, you're going to see a lot of things you won't understand. This is Fallen territory. We aren't safe here. I have to get you to the City."

The voice continued speaking, causing the boy to look around and look around and try to find what was speaking to him. Finding it, the boy found a floating machine in the shape of a stellated octahedron (Yes that is actually what the shape is called, look it up) with a small sphere in the centre.

"We need to move, now!" The Ghost didn't wait for the boy to respond, vanishing from his vision in a show of flashy lights. The boy was caught off guard at the display, but quickly was quickly reassured by the Ghost that it was still here. "Don't worry, I didn't leave. We need to hurry; the Fallen will be here soon. Head towards the wall, there should be a ship somewhere on the other side."

The young boy did as was told, making his way towards the wall and running as fast as he could. He didn't know what he was running from, but the Ghost said they should hurry so he would do that. Along the way he passed by rusted and destroyed cars with skeletons inside. He did his best to not think about that, focusing on reaching the door that was in the wall.

Once inside the wall, the boy took a few breaths, not really tired from the sprint but wanting to ask some questions. Once he caught his breath he walked through the wall and began questioning his Ghost who had appeared by his head.

"What is happening? Why can't I remember anything? What were we running from? Where are we?" The boy asked question after question, not waiting for an answer from his Ghost before moving onto the next.

"Calm down, I'll answer your questions one at a time. What is happening is that you were chosen by me to protect the last remains of humanity, wield the light and fight back against the darkness. The reason you can't remember anything is because you died, and when I brought you back I couldn't bring your memories back with you. What we were running from were called the Fallen, a group of scavengers who are part of the darkness we need to drive back. And where we are is in a country previously known as Russia." The Ghost answered all his questions at once before waiting for more.

"Why was I chosen? What's my name, and what's your name?" The boy asked fewer questions this time.

"You were chosen because you were one of the few who could wield the light, in fact you probably have the most light capacity out of any guardian I have seen. Your name, well you can choose that. You're a new person so you might as well have a new name. You can also call me whatever you want, I've been waiting for my guardian to give me a name." The Ghost seemed excited by the prospect of getting a name, something that the boy found a bit amusing.

"Alright, but if I'm giving you a name then you can give me a name. Sounds fair?" The boy didn't want to be the only one with power in this relationship, so he offered his companion the power to name him. The Ghost remained still for a moment, considering the prospect of being able to name a guardian. Not many Ghost's were given that privilege, in fact, the Ghost didn't know of a single one who had.

"Alright, if that's what you want." The Ghost whirred in the air, excited to be given this opportunity. "You go first, I want to know what you're going to name me."

"Alright." The boy inspected the Ghost, trying to find any features he could use to make a name that was suitable. Then he realized something, against the black, shadowy wall they were walking past, the Ghost looked like the moon. "Luna, I'll call you Luna."

Luna once again whirred in the air, both from excitement and also adding her new name into her database. After finishing, Luna turned her attention to the boy, trying to figure out a name that would suit him. After a few moments of silence Luna figured out the name she would call her new guardian. "You'll be Finn."

The boy nodded his head, accepting his new name as Finn. That day was the first of Finn's and Luna's friendship, one that would span centuries together and even pass across universes, though we'll cross that part later.

"We need to hurry through the wall, Finn, the Fallen live inside here and they're probably searching for us as we speak." Finn nodded his head in understanding, deciding that he should run through the wall as fast as he could. Luna vanished from sight once again, storing herself inside of Finn's light.

They soon came across a large opening in the wall, pipes spanning the distance between both sides of the wall. There seemed to be some movement on those pipes, but it was too dark to see anything for certain.

"Wait here, I'll try and give us some light." Luna appeared once again and then floated away. Moments later and the lights of the area turned on, revealing beings on the pipes that were crawling along with weapons pointed at Finn. Luna also appeared seconds later with other, larger flying machines chasing after her. "Lights are on, but now we need to run!"

When she was close enough Luna vanished from sight, and a gate opened up near Finn that he slid under. "Pick up that gun!" Leaning against a crate was indeed a gun, one that was probably too big for Finn's small child body, though any weapon right now would be helpful.

Finn ran through the wall, shooting at any enemies he passed along the way but not managing to kill any of the Fallen. As he ran past them, the groups of enemies began chasing behind Finn with their weapons firing bolts of plasma towards the boy.

"Keep running, we're almost at the exit. I'm picking up other guardians on the other side of the wall." Finn didn't need to be told twice and ran as hard as he could, spraying his weapon behind him and hoping to slow them down, even if only a little.

A few turns later and Finn could see a light at the end of the tunnel, reminding him of something but not remembering what, and he booked it harder. When he finally exited the tunnel he didn't stop running.

After leaving the tunnel, Luna picked up some chatter on a radio channel that seemed to be nearby. She patched the signal through and both she and Finn listened in on what was being said.

"All guardians nearby, there is a large group of Fallen making for the exit of the wall. They seem to be chasing something, feel free to stop by and join the fun." A male voice spoke through the channel, getting some responses from other guardians on the same channel.

"Roger that Cayde, don't go hogging all the fun." A female voice spoke through the channel.

"Be there soon, just don't get yourself killed." Another male voice spoke, different from the first.

"Finn, other guardians are on their way, just keep running and we'll be home free." Luna's voice spoke out after the others, getting a grunt from Finn as he continued his sprint. "This is Luna requesting immediate assistance, I have a newly risen being chased by a swarm of Fallen. Our weapon is about to run out of ammo and we do not have any alternative weapons."

"Luna we hear you loud and clear, I'm making my way there now and… Wait is that a kid?! What the hell is a kid doing out here!" The first male voice, Cayde if they remembered, was the first to respond. "Alright, no fun having here, we got a kid to save. Zavala is going to have my head for this." He whispered the last part but still had his comm on.

In the distance, Finn and Luna saw a golden light appear, followed by a loud bang. Finn risked a look back and found that a large group of the Fallen had been burned to ash, and more quickly followed after two more bangs rang out.

"Cayde-6 to newly risen, tell us your position so one of us can come get you while the others save the kid." Cayde spoke out on the comms again, directing his order to Finn, not knowing that the kid was the newly risen.

"It's me, I'm the newly risen!" Finn spoke out in the comms, his young voice catching Cayde off guard and causing him to realise just what was happening.

"Son of a-"
