Dr. Blake is finishing up her paperwork as she sees her phone buzz. It was her old friend Anne. She picked up the phone.

" Hi Anne, nice to hear from you."

" Hi Pamela, I hate to catch up like this but I wanted to let you know that it came across the dispatch office that your daughter is in an ambulance headed towards the hospital."

"Anne is she okay?"

"All I know is I heard her name come across so I wanted to call and let you know."

She struggles for a breath.

"Thank you Anne for letting me know."

She pushes her flawless red hair behind her ear as she takes a deep breath. Her speciality was transplant but she would make sure her daughter got the best care. She closed her folder and head for her office door.

Her red heels ran across the hospital until she reached the ED. Behind one of the curtains there lay her daughter who was being tended to by multiple different dr.s.

"You need to get out of here. Your not needed on this case. I don't even know who you are." States the dark haired dr attending to her.

"Pamela drake, transplant surgeon." She states coldly and urgently. She looks over at the nurse and says "book an or now!"

"Ms. Drake I'm dr marcel and with all due respect back off! I'm the dr. On duty. "

"She's my daughter so with all due respect move out of the way!"

"Pamela you need to calm down" dr. Archer slowly approach's her."

"Archer let me remind you how much money I've made for this hospital."

"That is why you can watch the surgery and give your input but not be in the or."

Marcel steps closer to archer. "since when do we let mothers of patients call the shot?".

"Since that particular mother helps pay your salary.

" she can't make that much money."

"Trust me she can"

"Fine" he shrugs as he stomps out to get scrubbed.

As he is in the operating room he can feel the anger boiling. This is his patient and he has this firery red head demanding his every move. Despite her telling him to close her up he disobeys and leaves her open as he knows it's what's best for the patient. He exits the operating room and heads to the locker room to clean up.

" How dare you not listen to me." Pamela comes storming into the men's locker room. She notices the shirtless doctor standing in front of her. If hadn't been for how angry she was she would hae noticed his chiseled olive skin body.

"Well apparently since you understand boundaries so well. You know I did some research on you. It's very Interesting how you are such a tentative doctor considering you abandoned one of your patients last week."

Her face went cold. " Excuse me!"

"You had lily anderson scheduled for a transplant surgery. She has been one of your cases for a while. Lily Samuelson does the name sound familiar Dr.Blake? You did her first kidney transplant when she was two. You were scheduled to do her transplant last week and you all of the sudden took a random emergency week long vacation and someone else had to do the transplant. Looks like the amazing Dr. Blake couldn't take the pressure."

She looks stunned at his words.

"Dr. Marcel have a great evening. I'm done with this conversation". As she storms out of the room.

He struck a nerve with her more so than he thought he did. He noticed the blank stare on her face when he mentioned lily. He was trying to get under her skin not upset her. If they didn't start off on such bad terms. He would think about being civil with her. He thought to himself. "She does seem like a very passionate and beautiful surgeon." He shook his head trying to get the image out of his head.

Gathering everything he needs he heads towards the door and out into the hospitals hallway.

As he walked by the balcony he sees red hair pushing out of a black coat. "Dr. Blake?" She's leaning over the rail as if she's trying to catch her breath.

As he walks up he can tell that's she has been crying and she was trying to calm herself down.

"Pamela I know that was harsh but you have to understand me from a doctors perspective."

"I do. I do understand. As a mother that was a very difficult thing to watch and to not be in there with her. I will admit from a doctors perspective you were in the right. She says with a smirk on her face.

He chuckles " Ha only in a doctors perspective?"

"You know something I did notice?"

He steps closer "what's that? Do I feel another insult coming?"

"No actually. What I was going to say was you impressed me today. The way you did what was best for your patient even though I provided a few obstacles. I would like for you to start joining me in some surgery. Have you ever thought about transplant surgery?"

"I have pondered it. The opportunity never arised to see if it was something I was interested in. If you're serious I would like to dip into it and give it a shot."

"I am. You would have to still be in the Ed and help me when you can. If so, we scrub in at 6am tomorrow morning."

"I'll be there." He smirks

" Thank you for the opportunity."

"Your very welcome."

He extended his hand and grabbed hers. " it's a pleasure to be on your service Dr. Blake."
