Percy leaned against the campus wall of a SHIELD facility and watched as Director Fury disembarked from his helicopter. He glanced at Agent Coulson who stood right in front of the helicopter, waiting for the director to completely disembark with Agent Hill.

Percy watched as Agent Coulson waited for Director Fury and Agent Hill to cross to him.

"How bad is it, Coulson?" Fury asked.

Agent Coulson responded, "That's the problem, sir. We don't know."

Percy followed them into the facility as the Director and Agent Coulson continued to speak.

"Dr. Selvig read an energy surge from the Tesseract four hours ago," Agent Coulson was saying.

Director Fury was clearly frowning as he said, "NASA didn't authorize Selvig to test phase."

Percy stepped forward and stated calmly, "He wasn't testing it, sir. He wasn't even in the room."

"Spontaneous advancement," Coulson added grimly.

"It just turned itself on?" Agent Hill asked, sounding concerned.

Percy nodded at her. He had actually been in the room with it when it had turned on. It had been rather alarming.

"What are the energy levels?" Director Fury asked Agent Coulson.

"Climbing," Coulson said. "When Selvig couldn't shut it down, we ordered evac."

"How long to get everyone out?" the director asked.

Percy exchanged a glance with Agent Coulson, before his superior responded, "Campus should be clear in the next half hour."

"Do better," the director said firmly.

Coulson nodded and turned around to continue the evacuation. Percy stayed with the Director and Agent Hill when Fury gestured at him to remain. He followed them deeper into the facility.

Agent Hill spoke up when they reached the stairwell, "Sir, evacuation may be futile."

"We should tell them to go back to sleep?" the director responded.

"If we can't control the Tesseract's energy, there may not be a minimum safe distance," she said, quietly.

The Director turned to them both and changed the subject, "I need you both to make sure Phase 2 prototypes are shipped out."

"Sir?" Agent Hill said sharply. "Is that really a priority right now?"

"Until such a time as the world ends, we will act as though it intends to spin on," Fury responded sharply, fixing both Percy and Agent Hill with a rather firm look. "Clear out the tech below. Every piece of Phase 2 on a truck and gone. Am I understood?"

"Yes, sir," Agent Hill said, before she turned to Percy. "Agent Jackson, with me. You both as well."

Percy dipped his head to the director and then followed Agent Hill down to the underground loading dock. Several other agents were already loading the prototypes up into trucks.

Agent Hill stood next to Percy. She shot a look at him. Percy quickly turned his head toward her, green eyes flaming her. She frowned a little before asking severely, "How are you settling in, Agent Jackson?"

Percy shrugged at her, "Pretty well, Agent Hill. This assignment is probably the best one I could have asked for right out the gate. Pretty easy, all things considered. At least, it was."

She nodded to him and turned her gaze back to the other agents.

Percy remained silent, turning back to them as well.

Getting the prototypes away from this facility required focus, among other things. Even if they weren't under attack by any enemy at the moment.

Percy shook his head and tensed as a sudden noise came from the Tesseract room.

He could feel concern wafting off of Agent Hill's thoughts and turned to her, exchanging concerned looks with her for a moment.

Then he said, "What the hell was that?"

Agent Hill looked grim, "Sounds as if something happened in the Tesseract room. I hope everyone's alright up there."

Percy nodded, his eyes turning back towards where the room was, a frown starting to curve across his lips.

He hoped Clint hadn't been caught in that explosion, because that's what it sounded like had happened. Or the Director for that matter.

He turned back to the prototypes, concentrating as much as he could on getting them out, although it was getting hard to concentrate.

The thoughts of everyone in this room were toxic. Most of them were internally panicking. And that wasn't exactly enjoyable for Percy.

He turned his head, hearing Agent Hill do the same when Agent Barton appeared out of the stairwell, being followed by Dr. Selvig and several others. Including a man in green that had an aura of power that made Percy tense.

Percy reached out for Clint's mind, feeling tension race up his spine, his hand going to the gun on his hip as he said, "Agent Barton?"

"We need these vehicles," the older man said, his mind completely blank in a way that made Percy nervous.

"Who's that?" Agent Hill said, her eyes narrowed.

"He didn't tell me," Clint said, as he headed for the truck.

The doctor and the strange man as well as another agent got in. Percy had a frown still on his face as he turned away and began to walk towards where one of their agents was loading a Phase 2 prototype.

It was then that his comm device buzzed, "Jackson, Hill do you copy? Barton is. . ."

Percy tensed as the focus of the four went on him and Agent Hill. He dove out of the way as Barton spun toward them and began to fire a spray of bullets. Percy dove behind a vehicle on the other side of the room and pulled out his gun as Agent Hill did the same.

He fired back at Barton, feeling his tension grow.

He watched as the truck drove away before jumping up and following Hill toward a Jeep. Hill jumped into the driver seat and Percy got into the passenger seat.

Hill pulled out and began to chase the truck down.

Percy narrowed his eyes and asked, "Short cut?"

She nodded, her eyes sharp and furious.

He nodded his head towards her, "Get me as close as you can. I'll stop them."

She flicked her eyes towards him as she revved the Jeeps engine as they got to the main way out of the campus. She turned around and head straight for where the truck was driving, pulling out her gun and beginning to cover fire so that Percy could do his thing.

He began to prepare to use his telekinetic ability to stop the truck.

Percy slid out of his seat, standing up and beginning to focus on the truck and stopping it completely when the man with an aura of power touched his mind, nearly causing Percy to gasp in surprise.

Are you a god? he mentally asked the man.

The man seemed to sneer in their connection, You dare to speak to me in such a tone, demigod. I should kill you now. I, child, am Loki of Asgard and I come with a glorious purpose of a world made free.

Percy scowled and told him, That phrase makes you sound stupid, Loki.

And then he cut the connection.

"Agent Jackson!" Agent Hill was shouting, she was about to lose control of the Jeep. Percy quickly glanced around and nodded. He held out a hand to begin to stop the truck.

Then he heard Hill shout out, "Jackson, look out!"

Percy glanced up and froze as Loki appeared, standing up in the truck bed with that strange spear of his in hand. It was glowing. Percy attempted to duck.

But the energy wave hit him, and he collapsed back into the passenger seat nearly falling out of the Jeep, if it weren't for Hill grabbing his arm. His mind as well as his body was hurting. Percy had a feeling that if he weren't superhuman, he would likely be dead. And everything was beginning to fade out of his vision.

"Uh oh," was his last thought before he passed out .

Annabeth winced deeply as she watched Reyna begin to argue with Chiron about what Loki had told them. It was obvious that Reyna didn't believe that SHIELD was going to attack and destroy both camps or that Percy was leading the attack.

Annabeth had at first not believed him but when he had showed them the plans to destroy the camps, she had had no choice to believe him. And still a part of her didn't want to believe what he'd told them.

Annabeth quickly spun when the door was opened by a man that was acting sort of like a zombie. His expression was blank, but Annabeth unfortunately recognized him. That SHIELD agent that had rushed Percy away from Monerston's building. The Black Widow's partner.

He stepped aside and let Loki in. Annabeth stared in surprise and confusion. What had the Norse god of mischief done now?

Chiron took one look and said, "Loki what have you done?"

Loki just smiled, and Annabeth had a sinking feeling that they had been lied to.

Percy groaned as he opened his eyes. His entire body ached. One thing was for sure, the next time Percy saw Loki of Asgard he was giving him a headache too.

He glanced around and spotted Director Fury sitting next to his bedside, a concerned expression clear on his face. Fury sighed when he saw that he was awake.

"Loki got away. I need you to deliver a package to Stark and recruit him when you're feeling better," the director said.

"I'm fine, sir," Percy said as he stood up.

"By the way," Percy added as he followed the director out of the Medical bay, "what for, sir?"

Fury sighed and turned back to him.

"For the Avengers Initiative."
