Welcome brave reader, for you are one of the few to have found this tale that has been lost to time itself.
To begin we're going to need to look at where we begin this epic story. In the far-off island continent of Aurora. Now you may be wondering why no such place has ever been documented and you'd be wrong to think that it's new. Aurora lies far off the coast of the Water Continent, exactly one thousand miles to be exact. So right off the bat, this continent is pretty far out there, which is exactly why you've never heard of it!
Enough about your geographical ignorance, let's move on! The Aurora Continent is different from all the others, while it does have a large town, the guild, rescue federation, exploration society, or whatever the hell you Pokémon call it these days, is not located anywhere near there. Instead, it is in a small village known as Azure Village. This village is primarily inhabited by the Great Borealis Guild. Keep that in mind as it'll be important later!
Now, onto our actual story…
Oh, wait this is not the one about the Quilava and the murderous Bolt Hound?
No?
Well then, my apologies. Ah, this is the right one!
We begin on the edge of summer, assuming you could still call it that. It was a warm sunny day on September 17th, 2023. We start with an older gentleman in his late 20's named Willam, Willam Jones.
He currently lives his life in a small apartment by himself in the town of Concorde Nebraska.
Now, reader, you may also be wondering why we're not starting in Aurora, and that my friend, you shall find out very soon! Currently, Willam is in the United States, on a planet called Earth. In this world pokémon are merely a fictional game and TV show characters.
Your questions will be answered in due time my sharp-minded reader, just sit back, and wait. Patience is a virtue after all.
Now, let's focus on Willam, after all, it wouldn't be a story without a beginning.
William Jones
The time was 9 in the morning, and William is about to wake up for what will be the first day of the rest of his life. Now be quiet, and let's listen in to what our dear friend has to say!
William woke to the sound of loud, yet high-pitched beeps, they went on and on. He knew he needed to get up, but his mind insisted he needed 5 more minutes.
It was only 5 he thought, nothing wrong with extra sleep. Hell if it was extra sleep he needed as much as he could get.
Tiredly, he extended an arm from out under the warm interior of the blanket stack he had accumulated over the night, and reached for the snooze button on his old, pokéball alarm clock.
He hit snooze and went back to sleep for what he hoped was only 5 more minutes.
Yet, 5 tends to turn into 10,10 to 20, 20 to 40, and so on. Eventually, it was 11 A.M. His old alarm, warn internally from use, had malfunctioned and died. The sentimental gift his mother had given him as a housewarming present, finally went dark.
He woke up naturally at precisely 11:26. Not realizing what had happened yet, he reached for his phone, planning to get up to date on the latest memes and whatnot. Although that's not what he found when he eventually grabbed it off the worn, old birch nightstand he had come to own from an auction years back.
"SHIT!"
In a panic, he threw his long, slender legs out of his warm, yet small bed, and into the cold air of the ambient room. This immediately sent shivers through his pale legs and throughout his torso.
In a hurry, he threw the covers to the side. Ignoring his body trying to tell him that it's too cold for him at that moment.
He dashed across the wooden apartment floor, he was already late for work and didn't need to lose more than he already had, but halfway across the messy floor, he stopped to think aloud.
"What am I doing with my life? Look at me, I'm in a rush to go to work, when the place I work is, of all places, McDonald's…"
He went back to his bed and sat on the edge. Willam looked out to his single-room apartment. The walls were covered in some old yellow wallpaper, it looked a lot like a creepypasta he had seen online a few years back, though, he failed to see why that mattered at that moment. His floor was littered with dirty and clean clothes, haphazardly thrown wherever was convenient at the time. His bed, although small, sat in the far corner of the small apartment, it was an old bed, and he had gotten the set back when he was 13. He's 22 now. The bed was showing obvious signs of wear and tear. It had been through a lot of different times in Willams life. Then there was his single, 2 drawer dresser, that sat next to the oak door of his apartment, it was the newest thing in the whole room. It had been gifted to him by a friend who moved away last year. He missed them of course.
"God, what's the point? I'm stuck in the endless cycle of misery, with no escape anywhere in the near future."
He picked up the broken pokéball alarm clock from the old nightstand.
"What adventures could be had? If only it was real…"
He let out a sigh. As a kid, he was obsessed with pokémon and the idea of pocket monsters in general. They fascinated William. Now, as an adult, that fascination was all but gone. He set the pokéball themed alarm clock into the garbage, it was useless in its current state and William lacked the knowledge to try to fix it.
"I need a change in this God-forsaken life!"
He hit his fist to his palm. He planned to follow through for real this time. No more empty promises.
As if on cue, the recently discarded pokéball alarm clock began to shake.
"That sure as hell ain't normal in any way…"
He walked over to it. The ball-shaped alarm clock was now filth covered, through all that though, it was making noises and shining lights it never had shone before.
"Maybe it's extra broken somehow?"
He bent down and grabbed it out of the trash. The moment he stood up fully with it, it heated up, very quickly. William was forced to drop the clock, wanting to protect his own hands from being burned.
It hit the floor and broke perfectly down the middle and into 2.
"That's not supposed to be normal."
At this point, a strange, silver liquid oozed out of the pokéball. At first, he assumed it was liquid mercury, but this was different from what liquid mercury looked like. It had a red tint to it.
Being not so bright, he bent over and poked it.
"Maybe this will kill me, and I'll get the easy way out and onto something brand new."
As if predicted, he blacked out instantaneously. Never to wake up the same ever again.
