Eragon has defeated Galbatorix and is prepared to leave Alagaesia in order to protect the eggs and train new riders. Before he does that, however, he has something to tell Arya. Will she return his feelings? At the last second, Murtagh takes Eragon's place. When a new order of riders arrives, what will they want? Never read any Inheritance fictions so if this is like others sorry.

At the end of Inheritance, Murtagh and Thorn leave Urû'baen, needing time alone, time to heal. They don't know where they will go. North, maybe. Somewhere away from other people. Murtagh tells Eragon that they intend to return when 'the world no longer seems quite so hateful and we no longer feel like tearing down mountains and filling the sea with blood'.

When Eragon discovers latent feelings for Saphira, his dragon, he is forced to choose between what can never be or hold fast to what he'd always believed. But dismissing his feelings as folly proves more difficult than he'd anticipated. All the while the Eldunarí hold a closely guarded secret. It'd happened once before, but ended in tragedy.

After Eragon leaves Alagaësia, he and Saphira travel many leagues to find the perfect place to raise the eggs and hide from the corruption of the rest of the world. This is a story of the first Rider to accompany them in their solitude- a young human girl, and her dragon, Enavlysa.
